Mackenzie Mueller doesn’t take me seriously. She says I’m an alcoholic. I say I’m living in the moment. She says I’m immature. I say she’s stuck up. She says I need to be more serious. I say I tried that, and it broke my heart. She says I’m the best she ever had. ...I tend to agree. She says we’re not good together. She’s lying. After losing the love of my life before my twentieth birthday, I was sure I’d never love again. I’ve spent the past five years living like it’s my last day on earth, every day. Girls, booze, and as much family time as possible filled my weeks. But mostly the booze... Then, Mackenzie walked into my life and suddenly I have purpose again. She’s made me care. She’s made me feel. She’s made me love. The only problem is that she doesn’t understand me, and her heart’s been crushed too hard and too recently to take a chance on the city’s ‘wild child’. She’s convinced I’m not in it for the long haul. I’m about to prove her wrong. As long as I can make it past December 4... *18+ *This is the second book in the West Family series, but it CAN be read as a standalone. *Book 1 is UnPlanned*

M. Piper lives in Southern Illinois with her family of 4. She is the only female in the house (if you don't count the poor dog) and enjoys reading and writing in her spare time. Let's face it, though, with two boys under the age of 5, there isn't much free time.

Nothing says M. Piper like "here's a sweet premise...now fall for the characters...and bam. Smack you upside the head." Or how about..."boys meets girl....it's not to be....boy is a mess...girl becomes a mess...meet again....bam."

Are you catching the Bam?! UnStable has a definite Bam. It is also emotional the very beginning. M. Piper wants you as UnStable as her characters. But don't let my faux rant fool you, this book is a mess of emotion and the perfect storm for Ford West. If you fell into the West family in UnPlanned like I did (they adopted me; they just don't know it yet), then you will love getting to know them better!

Now if we could just get Reagan on board...

Well in true Piper form I loved this read! I am in love with the West Family.
Ford is my fav so far.
I mean he is broken...pretty broken, but you can tell their is a man in there deep down that wants to come out. He is just waiting for the perfect reason.
Mackenzie is that perfect reason. It's a choppy road for them for sure. Ford is an emotional guy who loves hard...Mackenzie was NOT looking for anything serious since she had been burned in the past. One sly smile from Ford and she was a goner.
Also just so you know the sex in this book does NOT disappoint! Like hello to wall sex, bed sex, airplane effing sex (which was the best if you ask me).
This is totes must read you guys!!!

5 You're Bacon Me Crazy Stars

Well, that book was a "can't put it down, gonna read it all in one sitting" kind of book. So, thanks for that.

Ford West. We met him in UnPlanned, the book featuring Lincoln West.

Ford is the middle child, the party-er, the fun guy, the no relationship guy.

Or is he?

He's had his fair share of heartache. More than most. And it happened at an earlier age than you could ever expect. Because no one could prepare him for the trials he'd have to endure.

Mackenzie Mueller (I'm pretending Piper used my name here) just got out of her serious relationship. A relationship that was doomed before it began, but she had no way of knowing that.
She's heard the rumors surrounding Ford West and she's kept her distance--easy to do when you're engaged to another man.

But what happens when that engagement is over and you're on the hunt for something to make you forget?

Ford happens. Good time, fun, no relationships Ford happens.

But what happens when Ford wants more?

UnStable happens. This book happens. All the details are here. You want the details.

You're gonna laugh, you're probably gonna tear up a bit, and you're gonna love Ford and Mack.

Bring on Reagan, Piper. I'm not ready.

"I stand there and stare in amazement that a man like him can saunter in here, take exactly what he needs, and leave me wanting more."

Dreamily romantic, with angsty and heartbreaking glimpses into flawed and broken characters that made it a suck-you-in and not let you go read!! Ford is a lovable hot mess and I rooted for him the entire time!! With tears in my eyes, I devoured their story and wanted their happy ending like it was my own! Raw, real, and exasperating at times, you watched it all unfold into what turned out to be a breathtaking journey for the both of them!! These siblings are near and dear, and I love this series!

"Being this close to him, feeling this close to him emotionally...this wasn't supposed to fall this hard for Ford West, but I have, and I still am, and I don't want it to end...I need to watch it when it comes to Ford West."

I thank the Author for providing a copy to review and thoroughly enjoyed the 2nd West sibling's story!!

DNF. I just couldn't waste my time anymore on this read. It's so contridictory it's killing me. One minute he's the town drunk but the next he can go a night with out drinking with out craving it just because he met a girl and new her for 1 day. Naaa, I don't see that as realistic. And I was forcing myself to read it. It had all the right ingredients for a mega hit book but it was missing them umph. Maybe the authors other reads will be better.

Just when I think I’ve seen M. Piper’s best she throws this gem at me! Oh my word, THE FEELS! I could not put this book down.
There’s something about a beautiful, broken man and a wounded young woman — both emotionally vulnerable — that always has me screaming from the sidelines! They need each other so much but understandably have hang-ups and baggage from their pasts to deal with as well.

Ford is on a rapid downward spiral. He will not allow himself to move forward from his traumatic past. To live. But when Mackenzie crosses paths with him again, this time without a ring on her finger, he takes his chance for that hookup he’s been wanting since he first saw her quite some time ago. Little does he know that his heart will fall into a totally different kind of spiral... and it terrifies him.

Mackenzie has been warned about Ford. Her friends at the time always portrayed him as wild, reckless, an alcoholic. But with those friends no longer in her life and her newly single status, she decides to throw caution to the wind and leave the bar with him. A one-night fling quickly becomes much more — but is it enough to keep her here when the reason she came to Illinois was for just one man who is no longer a part of her life? How does she know whether Ford can be serious about anything?

The sexual tension and electricity between these two characters practically radiates off the pages! This book is so hot! Be careful about reading this in a public setting, you might just sweat your makeup off!

Wonderfully Addictive story about loss, heartache, attraction, healing, and second chances. Throw is some sexy spice and you have another swoon worthy book by M. Piper! It pulled at all of my feelings. I was completely invested in the story and characters from the very beginning..

Ford is now my favorite West. While I love Lincoln, and Reagan and the closeness of this family. Fords story really played havoc on my emotions.

Ford and Mackenzie's, both are guarded and Insecure, but their chemistry is undeniable.

Another must read from this author...

Book starts out as Ford and Caroline obviously are a couple, and they love each other very much. Then the world starts spinning. And for Ford West it doesn’t stop.

Fords one of those fix guys. He’s gorgeous, and every girls fantasy. He even has a great personality, especially the kind that most girls are drawn too. The kind that says, “Look at me, I’m every girls fantasy, I’ll even whisper sweet nothings in your ear, blow your mind in the sack, but I’m broken. I’m fun, I’m the life of the party, and I’m worth the chase I promise for that one night or two, but I’m messed up.”

Girls want to fix guys like that. They’re drawn to those lost souls that have everything going for them, but they’re broken from something inside. Some horrible thing has happened in their life, and we girls want to make it better and heal their wounds. Love them till they love themselves. Chase their demons away.

That’s what I wanted to do for Ford. I loved this guy. I wanted to make him see he was worth the effort to be happy. He was such a great guy.

Mackenzie, was different. She too had her own demons, and at first tried to avoid a train wreck, but decided to give Ford a chance.

The two of them were climatic, and amazing together. Their lives couldn’t be more different, but yet the same. They were made for each other.

It was beautiful to see Fords life progress as his love for Mackenzie grew, and Mack’s love for Ford blossom as her trust was restored by Fords love.

My heart bled for Ford so many times while he experienced his raw emotions over Caroline. Then when tragedy struck with Mackenzie, I thought I’d stop breathing.

These two had chemistry that was undeniable, sexy, beautiful, unconditional, and pure.

What an awesome read.

From the first Chapter to the last sentence, Piper absolutely captivated my heart with this story. This is the second story, second son of the West family and Ford doesn't disappoint.

Ford suffered an unimaginable heartbreak during his teens. His loss and guilt have led him down a path of destruction consisting of unending amounts of booze, women and self destruction. All that changes with one unexpected sighting of Mackenzie Mueller. The puzzle piece he's missing.

Mackenzie is still working on her new bakery and putting her life in order after a major shakeup and let down. She has a chance encounter with the dangerously handsome playboy Ford West. But she's drawn to him. But those rumors keep whispering in her ear. But those empty fishbowls give her courage to give in to Ford.

One night and both feel the need for more. He's unpredictable, dangerous, gorgeous, and definitely unstable. She's heaven and peace, wild and unwilling, the one thing that's easing his pain...she's perfect.

But past loves, disturbed exes, secrets, fear, and growing feelings surround the couple. Mackenzie isn't leaving and Ford finally has the "glue" to begin fixing his broken pieces.

These characters were so consuming. Their banter and attraction flowed perfectly. Supporting characters added to the couple's storyline. I found myself hurting with Ford, feeling disappointed with Mackenzie, and crying for what should have been.

I received this book as an ARC and voluntarily read and reviewed in exchange for an honest, personal opinion. An emotional read but a MUST READ! And I definitely want a Ford Hug 😘

This book can be read as a standalone, but is also the second in a series. Author M. Piper introduced us to this family, their business and the sibling dynamic in older brother Lincoln's book, Unplanned. Unstable gives us insight into the middle West child.

Ford West has suffered more than many men of his age have. A tragic event took away the love of his life and Ford has never truly recovered from the loss. His days find him pasting on fake smiles, acting like nothing is wrong, and then drinking himself into oblivion so that the pain recedes temporarily. He spends a LOT of time in bars. And he ingests a LOT of alcohol. But fate is sometimes kind to those who have experienced immeasurable hurt. And on one night, Ford meets his second chance.

Mackenzie Mueller has had a rough go of it. Her ex-fiance is an unhinged, lying douchebag. She is living far from home and has yet to recover her self-esteem. Thankfully she runs a successful business and has an amazing friend in her business partner, Julia. And one night, Julia drags her out to a bar.

The chemistry is undeniable and instant. And the bedroom (living room/kitchen/car, etc...) connection comes easily. But navigating the waters of first love lost, cheating, alcoholism and abuse are much, much, more difficult. Can second love be strong enough to brave these elements?

M. Piper does a wonderful job handling these delicate subjects. Ford and Mack are hot, sweet and real. I love the family dynamic of the Wests. And I can't wait for Reagan's story.

The story continues for the West brothers! We first met Lincoln on Unplanned and now we meet Ford in Unstable.
Ford suffered an unimaginable heartbreak during his teens. His loss and guilt have led him down a path of self destruction. He cures his pain with unending amounts of alcohol. But then everything changes when he sees Mackenzie Mueller.
Mackenzie is working on her new bakery and putting her life in order. Just like Ford she also suffered a major shakeup and let down. She knows Ford is not good news. He is known as a dangerously handsome playboy. But That doesn't stop her from wanting him. But the rumors about who he is keep whispering in her ear.
One night they both feel the need for more. He's unpredictable, dangerous and definitely unstable. She's heaven and peace. She's the perfect woman to glue this broken soul back together.
But the past keeps hunting them both and threatens to break them apart. But Mackenzie isn't leaving and Ford finally found the "glue" that will make him whole again.
A must read!!!!❤

The West Family are now some of my favorites. Ford reaches in and grabs hold of your heart in his heartbroken ways and doesn't let go. He's suffered an unimaginable heartbreak that he blames himself for. While everyone will tell him not to, it's hard to listen when you've held that on your shoulders for so long. He's accepted his fate and knows that he'll never be able to move on the idea has never even crossed his mind until Mackenzie crossed his path...again. The last time it happened, she wasn't available. She turned Ford down and didn't look back. This time though, he's determined. He doesn't see a ring on her finger so she must be fair game, right? Mackenzie wasn't looking for anything really, except for maybe a night of fun and pleasure. Surely Ford West can give her that. The feelings that followed after were hard to accept and 100% unexpected.
I always look forward you M. Pipers next book. I find myself completely absorbed in them, unable to put them down. She is able to craft a story that completely consumes you. You're feeling the emotions and living through the words. I can never get enough!

Emotional Read You Won't Wanna Put Down

I'm so glad I came across this book in my list, and decided to give it a shot.
This one pulls at all your emotions while you journey through issues that Ford and Mackenzie are going through. You'll feel their connection right away and will pulling for their happy ending.

They find something in each other when they spend the night together. But their relationship will be anything but easy as they try to get through their emotional pasts. Ford trying to let go of the guilt he feels over losing his first love, and falling in love with someone else.
And Mackenzie trying to get her angry married ex fiance to leave her alone. Which doesn't prove easy. His aggressive behavior towards her eventually results in a very emotional trauma for her and Ford. One that will prove hard to get through, and will pull your emotions through the ringer.

This one is actually book 2 of the series but they don't have to be read in order. Book 1 is Ford's older brother Lincoln's story, and Book 3 is his younger sister Reagan's story. Both if which I will definitely be reading next!

I received an ARC from the author for an honest review.

What can I say, I LOVE the West family! Ford was a broken man, struggling with guilt and loss from his past, using alcohol and women to try and move on. Mackenzie was just out of a relationship and she was not looking for someone new to start up with. Then she met Ford. This was not the first meeting. She had met him previously and did not like him at all. Things have changed. She falls hard and fast for this beautiful, tortured soul. Ford falls too, but still hanging on to that guilt. She slowly begins to glue him back together. I really loved this story, their dynamic, and how they both found one another when they needed each other the most. If you haven’t started this series, DO IT! I am so looking forward to Reagan West’s story, and I hope we continue to get a glimpse into both Ford and Lincoln’s life when we do. I also hope to hear more about Jules and can only hope that she gets her story too! Another must read book from M. Piper!

Oh, I am so in love with the West family. M. Piper has written a sweet, gritty, poignant story of two people who fall in love despite the circumstances surrounding their first meeting. Ford is broken and has descended into the depths of despair, hiding his pain in endless partying and alcohol, often with his sister, Reagan, as his wingman. Only his brother Lincoln (Unplanned) glimpses the pain of guilt and betrayal from an accident with a tragic outcome 7 years ago. Mackenzie has been severely singed by love and is not looking for anything serious. But one smile from Ford and she is a goner. And Ford discovers that Mackenzie is all he needs to piece together his shattered heart and move forward with life.
When they fall, well, they fall HARD! And have lots of sex: wall sex, kitchen sex, and airplane sex. Yup, they join that elusive mile high club (my fave sex scene in the book)!! Ultimately, we learn that the heart is capable of healing and falling in love again for the first time. This is a must read!! I can't wait to read Reagan's story, M.!

Unstable the second book in the series was much better than Unplanned (in my opinion). We got more development of the characters (Yay!), which I love. We also didn't get an insta love. It was love at first sight, but our heroine Mack stood her ground with Lincoln. His only way of reaching her was through FB messenger, it made me giggle!! haha Anyways, this is Lincoln's story and its so sad. In Unplanned he's known as the partier, but we don't know why. Lincoln is unstable and it was sometimes hard to read, but we find out why and it was incredibly sad. He used alcohol to numb that pain and never fully moved on from his past.

Mack was a great heroine. She was strong, but sweet. She had a soft spot for Lincoln and was afraid of opening up for him because a past relationship. Lets just say her ex is crazy and I so didn't like him. But she does take a chance on Lincoln. By doing that she healed Lincoln and she found her happy ever after. I can't wait to read the last book in the series!!!

I'm in love with the West family!! Ford West is my favorite so far. We got a glimpse of him in Unplanned, Lincoln's book, and now we get his full story.

Ford is the middle child and he is a very broken man. He's been through some terrible things and is just making his way thru life without actually living it. He's know as an alcoholic and party animal.

Mackenzie Mueller has heard all about Ford and his ways. She's been through some things herself and thinks Ford is no good for her. After a one-night stand, she runs. When Ford finds her again, he is determined to show her how good for each other they are.

Ford and Mack's story is full force right from page 1. They both go thru so much and together they are so much stronger for it. Mack is the glue that puts Ford back together. Their story is amazing and fun and sexy. So much detail that keeps you hooked. I can't wait for Reagan's story next.

I love this family! This is the second stand alone in the West family series.
Ford West's story isn't flowers and candy, it's booze and bad decisions, can't blame the guy, he lived through a life altering accident. He's a functioning mess. (MacKenzie) Mac Mueller isn't doing much better after she followed her heart right down a dark rabbit whole into a heartbreak of her own. She's managed to keep hear head together and open a new successful business in the same town and their paths cross more than once.

This story deals with some difficult topics. As always, Piper knows how to bring the pain. I was rooting for this couple from the beginning. Ford is a good guy and an amazing uncle. I really liked Mac and her ability to be self contained. She's got an amazing bestie and a large personality despite feeling shaky after being duped. It was lovely to see Lincoln's family throughout the story. I'm looking forward to the third siblings book. Sister has gone waol!

UNstable

A book about two... unstable people. Well, only one of them, really.

Ford is a twenty something year old man who still loves the woman he lost almost six years ago. He is also a man who cannot take care of his own household and doesn't clean. Sexy. Not. There is a scene in which he eats a cupcake in the heroine's store, some crumbles fall to the floor... and he doesn't even pick them up, just comments that she should have her cleaning crew take care of them. Wtf.
Oh yeah, not to mention, he is also a murderer. Cause the accident in which his girlfriend was killed? His fault. And everyone is like: it was an accident, not your fault blah blah. Ah? No? It was his fault. He ran a stop sign. His fault.

The writing style... I don't know... didn't catch me.

The heroine... was kind and supportive. Maybe a bit too much? He relies solely on her. That's not healthy. He isn't in therapy, he is an alcoholic who is not in any programme. It's all just... not enough.

I totally loved Ford West's story in this book Unstable by M. Piper. Ford we know from the first book, Unplanned, is one of three West children. In Unplanned, he is the party boy, living with his brother Lincoln. In this truly heartbreaking story, we finally understand why he just wants to play.

He has lost in love and has absolutely NO intention to ever love again, despite being so very young. When he meets Mackenzie...he is taken by her...but she is "taken" so he lets it go. When they meet up again, it is meant to be just a night of fun since neither of them have any desire to be in any kind of romantic entanglement, both for very good but different reasons.

We soon find out though, the heart wants what it wants and these two will have some troubling times to get through before they see light on the other side.

Phenomenal!
When you read a story that not only has a lot of heart but a lot of heat, you know you're in for an all consuming, unputdownable read!
This is Ford and McKenzie's story.
The plot was exciting, emotional and intriguing. The main characters were likable, relatable and well developed. Their chemistry and banter was magnetic and compassionate. The writing was just sharp, poignant and simply phenomenal!
Ford has been on the path of self destruction and is famously known for it. McKenzie has her own painful past and is on a mission of self improvement. When their paths cross neither predicts the outcome.
Their story is so worth the read.
But please be warned...it may not be a good idea to read in an open area as this read can cause blushing, gasping and other physiological changes!

I'm so in love with the West family. Ford man he got to me. I just want to cuddle with him and not let him go. I love the change and healing he goes through once he meets Mackenzie. Mackenzie is everything Ford needs and then some. Eric is a giant douche and my heart broke for Ford and Mackenzie. But true to M. Piper form she brilliantly put my broken heart back together. Ford and Mackenzie are so strong together. Unstable is such an amazing book. It just gives you all the feels. I laughed. I cried. I wanted to hug Ford and Mackenzie. Oh the feels and the sexy times. Lots of hot sexy times. I love M. Piper's books. This is a MUST READ!!!! I can't wait for Reagan's story and more of the West family.

A broken man
Ford is a broken man. Inescapably broken? You be the judge. Dealing with tragedy by drinking until he passes out was working just fine for Ford until he gets a second chance to make a first impression with Mackenzie. The beautiful Mackenzie has never been accused of making solid decisions, but she is drawn to the vulnerable Ford.
Never one to back away from the tough subjects, M. Piper again brings it. Alcoholism and domestic assault would tear apart a weaker couple, but a string of horrific events brings this couple closer and I loved that about them! They work together to battle their respective demons, along with their friends and family. Ford and Mackenzie are a great couple!

I loved Lincoln in the last book. He was a small mystery that I was really excited to dive into and the author didn’t let me down. This is a fast passed book but the meat of the story was full of heart ache and moving in from the past. Mack had her own issues to overcome and while they were different then Lincoln’s; they weren’t any less painful. She was strong and funny. Beautiful inside and out.

They way they they were so perfect for each-other, the chemistry that they shared, the love you see forming from the start, it all helped this story shine. There is mild drama, heart breaking scenes but the story had an overall upbeat feel to it. I can’t wait to read the last West sibling book. I have a feeling it’s going to be a dooziez 5 Stars #2OCCJD

I was intrigued by the character of Ford when reading Unplanned. He was the fun loving uncle who was always up for a good time. There was something about him that lead you to believe that he was hiding something from his past. He masked his pain with alcohol. Mackenzie is a bakery owner who is looking to get her life in order after a relationship gone bad. Ford and Mackenzie hooked up after a night at the bar and she was gone by the next morning. Ford could not get her off his mind. After a chance meeting another time, Ford wants to get to know Mackenzie better. She does her best to ward him off but Ford does his best to tear down her brick wall. It was easy to understand the pain that each suffered but fun to watch them fall in love.

This woman's books never disappoints!!

Ford's story was adorable. He makes me feel all warm n fuzzy and I want to give him a great big hug for being so darn cute!!

Don't get me wrong though, he's sexy as hell!! This is one of M. Piper's steamiest books!! Lots of sexy time for this crazy couple. Anyone want to go play in the rain? I certainly do after reading Unstable!

It's always great to see two emotionally closed off people come together and succeed in their relationship when it's perfect for them. I choose to believe there is "the right one" out there for everyone and even if you lose that person you are not lost forever! This story is a beautiful example of that!

4.5 STARS

I am loving this series from this author! This family is so much fun but at the same time they have their drama that they are dealing with. All of it wrapped together makes for a wonderful story. I thing I love the most is when you can find a connection with a character on a deeper level and I found that in Ford. He went though some things that I could relate too and it just made me love the story so much more! I thought the story was well written, minus a few word choices used by the author haha. Overall, the story was great, I loved the characters, the story flowed magnificently and I can't wait to see what we get next!

Ford is my favorite!

UnStable is heartbreaking perfection. With Ford and Mackenzie's story, M. Piper has given us an emotional and uplifting tale full of funny bits and teary parts. The characters are flawed and realistic, and so well written.

Ford is struggling with life and past events...he needs to forgive himself and accept that he needs help. Mackenzie is the one person who makes him feel life could be different, but she's bouncing back from her own relationship troubles and may not be ready for Ford.
I enjoyed their story immensely, and the West family has officially stolen my heart. If you're looking for an emotional read, this one is perfect!
