Sometimes love demands a second chance, but it will never be bought, no matter the amount.
Michael Carrington promised himself after losing his wife that he was done with love. No more investing in anything he wasn’t capable of walking away. Sex and high-dollar business deals would become the center of his world. Throw in a touch of danger, and he has all he needs outside of a new assistant.
Rainey Foster has finally graduated college, and as a struggling single mom, she just needs someone to give her a chance. She’s willing to go all in with the right employer, as long as the buck stops there. He can have her time, her commitment and her attention, but no one will ever have her heart again. She thinks she has things figured out until she comes face to face with the illustrious Michael Carrington.
Powerful. Confident. Sexy as Hell.
Lust might ignite the flame between them, but love will have its way.

So first of all that charity ball was so sweet. The amount of money they raised for those kids is so sweet. The lady from the hospital is a horrible person. Rainey is no gold digger. Can't believe that. I still don't see why it took Rainey so long to tell Michael about Tanner. That's pretty messed up. How he reacted was uncalled for though :( Poor girl. This one was a little better than the first one.
I think I am just agreeing with most reviewers. This should be one book not three. There is not enough material covered to make it necessary for more than one book. Also, there are far tooooo many grammatical errors.
Wow! There is a lot of book between these covers. It's not a very long time span, but these characters go through so much. At times, the push-me/pull-you dynamic between Rainey and Michael almost drove me batty. As a successful businessman, Michael is prepared to grab for what he wants when he recognizes a good thing. And what he sees in Rainey is one of the best things to come into his life in a long time. Being a single mother, burned by a bad divorce, Rainey is a lot more cautious and a lot less trusting of her heart and instincts. I loved watching these two dance around their attraction to one another, even if it was crazy-making at times. It was inspiring to witness Rainey finding the freedom to be herself, in the boardroom, in the bedroom, just generally in her own skin. And the sparks these two light off each other? I'm feeling a bit singed from standing so close. Seeing Michael recognize that he could have a special connection with a another woman similar to what he had shared with his late wife made some of the sweetest moments in the book. Michael's epilogue chapter was probably the sweetest of them all. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book.
Michael Carrington wasn’t looking for love, after losing his wife to cancer, he became more involved in his work and running his charity events then looking for the next woman to come into his life but when he began interviews for a new assistant, he wasn’t expecting the beautiful woman to walk into his world. Rainey Foster was looking for a job ever since she graduated college, and even though she didn’t have an appointment she wouldn’t take no for an answer, especially from a rude receptionist at the offices of Michael Carrington. When her almost-future-boss overhears Rainey, he steps forward and offers to give her an interview during his lunch break. They are almost immediately drawn to each other, but since Rainey really needs this job, she pushes his advances aside, telling herself that they can only have a working relationship.. but when the sparks between them begin to ignite, will Rainey be able to keep her feelings from turning to something more? Or will Michael be able to break down the walls around her heart and make her see that they belong together? I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Rainey divorced one man that wanted complete control and now work for new boss with secret to boot. Rainey decides to keep secret herself.... but if you work very close as an assistant all secret come out.
