Hushed Torment

Rate this book
From USA Today, and international bestseller, comes the second book in the Iron Fury MC!

One accident changed my life.
One single second changed everything for me.
In one terrifying moment, everything I knew was gone.
Music is the only thing that keeps me holding on.
When the opportunity arises for me to tour with country music star, Scarlett Belle, I take it.
An escape.
A chance.
Only it isn’t enough to lift the shadows of my past.
And when I meet him, dangerous and different, I can’t turn away.
He is forbidden to me.
The President of a Motorcycle Club.
A man who could bring noise back into my soundless world.
But the shadows of my past haunt me.
They linger like a dark nightmare, reminding me that we can never be.
Because my sins are far too heavy.
And my mind far too broken.
Music is the only escape I can allow into my life.
The only one that I will let seep through my hungry veins.
But he’s always there.
And he’s persistent.
But if he knew what I kept behind closed doors…no.
I must continue my life just the way it is.
Without him.
Breathing in my nightmare.
Living in my Hushed Torment.

It has been 5 hours since I finished the book and I believe I have calmed down enough to write this review. This review will be full of spoilers because when I rant I don't have a filter. If you have read the first book in the series I bet you will love this one. It's practically the same story with different people.

For me, the one good point in the previous book was Malakai and Amelie. Well, their story was ruined in this book and I have lost all hope for the series. I am going to read more books from Bella Jewel because I have liked most of the other books I have read from her, but I am giving up this series. In the next book, the main couple will be in a cabin in the woods and I bet the hero will still find someone else to sleep with. Because that's what the heroes in this book do. For example, early in this book, Makalai orders a member of the club to bring in Bree because he wants to relieve some tension from not been able to do anything with Amelie. I honestly believe this series has 0 romance and is just sex. Amelie spends 60% of the book being a pushover and lets everyone in her life guilt her into doing something. She lets her mother verbally abuse her and force her to visit her ex-boyfriend because she ruined his life. She wasn't the one who grabbed the steering wheel and made the car move out of course. And her ex is still an a-hole. At least Amelie got her backbone and took the reins. I started to like her until she made the same mistake as Scarlett. She slept with the hero after she found him with another woman. Like minutes after. At least this time the hero was caught before he did something with the other woman.

Hushed torment has practically the same plot as Whiskey burning. The hero is no good for the heroine, sleeps with another woman to get rid of some tension, tries to win over the heroine, doesn't trust her because that's the right thing to do (Malakai didn't even let her explain her part) sleeps with another woman and the heroine like a sheep with no will forgives him. Clap clap ladies. Give them some hard time. Make them regrets their actions. This review is me giving up the series.

I really wanted to read Amelie and Malakai´s story but I'm a little disappointed. "Hushed Torment" seems to follow a specific mold. Malakai has several sexual encounters with club girls before his commitment to Amelie, similar to Maverick's behavior in "Whiskey Burning". I'm not a big fan in such descriptions...

I am on the fence on this one. Malakai and Amalie were both difficult characters to connect with. He is the President of the Iron Fury MC. Amalie is a piano player who is able to play despite being almost totally deaf from an automobile accident. Amalie allows herself to be fully blamed for the accident, made to withstand and take the blatant anger and scorn from her former boyfriend and his family; and be ridiculed almost nonstop by her mother. It got old, tedious and downright boring at points. Malakai loses his mind after deciding that Amalie was a liar (which she partially was) and wouldn't hear her out. When her past comes back to haunt her, Amalie doesn't understand why it was done, just that her mother and ex-boyfriend played a hand in it. Amalie didn't stand up for herself until it was almost too late, decided to unleash her pent up anger and then almost caved when faced with the possibility of an orgasm with Malakai. All respect for her was pretty much lost at that point. This story closely resembled the first story in this series and it was too repetitious. There were a ton of grammatical and editorial errors that detracted from this story for me. I really do like Bella Jewel as an author, but this one fell short for me.

Rating: ★★★★

description

This is the second story in the Iron Fury MC series from Bella Jewel and can be read as a standalone apart from the first one, Whiskey Burning. I advise though, given that I jumped into this one without the experience of the characters from the first book, that you should go back and read that first one. Not because you’re going to learn anything about the characters of Amalie and Malakai that you don’t see and learn here, but because, for me personally, I wanted to know more about how we got here.

What happened with Scarlett and Maverick that lead into where this book starts.

The author did take great care in mentioning some of the back story from the first book here, so it wasn’t as though I went in completely blind to them, I think it just would have helped me connect even more to the whole band of characters here than I did.

That being said, this story is written much like the authors previous MC stories, which are absolutely some of the favorites I have by her, so the pacing, the writing style and even the characters at their most basic, were all like coming home again in terms of this author. Everything moved at a pace that I was familiar with and enjoy so there was nothing I can say here that would have lowered the star rating at all when it comes to these things.

Even in terms of character connection, with Amalie especially, I could really understand her on a level that I can’t say I have with any of the previous characters before. Where she finds herself at the beginning of this story, what she’s attempting to do (even knowing it was probably not the right locale to do it in), I felt it in my bones. Maybe because I’ve been there, in terms of relationships and knowing when something isn’t working. I just connected to her in that moment. And then, in moments after, some of the things she would think, what she puts herself through, throughout the entirety of this novel, because of guilt. I may not have done the same thing as her, or maybe, not done it for as long, but I could certainly understand and sympathize with why she did. Your mind, especially when being manipulated by others, well, it makes you do some things that others find crazy. So, connection made to her.

Malakai was harder for me and I think this is where not having back story entirely plays in. He was typical in the sense of the leader of the MC as they’re written and even portrayed in all forms of media (written, tv, etc.), so that was okay. But I couldn’t entirely connect to him other than his need to protect apart from it. And then there’s the instance that happens later in the story, with Amalie, that with everything I was coming to learn about him, I didn’t see coming. I don’t spoil it for anyone else, but that was a moment that while maybe I should have expected it, it rubbed me the wrong way on this guy for a while afterwards. Like he had a harder time getting back into my good graces than he did the woman he loved.

Do I think these two work well together? Yeah, I do. Just with the way Malakai was in terms of anything happening to her proved to me that he would be what she needed given her disability etc., but did I connect to them as a couple as strongly as I wanted to? No. Which is why there’s a star missing from my rating above. I didn’t feel the connection as I have in previous books by this author. That’s not to say I didn’t enjoy the story, she did bring her usual punch to the suspense end of things, especially as it pertains to the hunting down of the ones causing the pain and the violence of that life, but it was the connection as a couple I didn’t quite jump on board for.

I think anyone who is a fan of this author or MC books in general, especially the suspense angle will enjoy this, as much as me, if not even more.

My thanks to the author and all others involved in letting me read an ARC of this story in exchange for my honest review and thoughts.

“The most beautiful things in this world are created from the ugliest pieces that are molded together until they become something that will take your breath away.”

Book 2 in the Iron Fury MC, we have here Malakai and Amalie’s story.
As what we’ve come to expect from Bella Jewel, her stories are action-packed with hot hot alpha males🔥 and drama. I like the series but this one was too much like the plot in Whiskey Burning(First book in the series).
Not a fan of Amelie as well, I find her weak and by the time she decided to stand up for herself, I almost couldn’t appreciate it. As for Malakai’s character I wished that there was a more detailed backstory about him.
Overall the story was okay👍🏻, next is Charlie & Koda😊

Can sadness, grief and a sense of hopelessness within a musician be tempered by a protective, arrogant, alpha MC President? Rev up your motors for Bella Jewel’s second book in her Iron Fury MC series, Hushed Torment.

Malakai and Amalie’s story might be similar in stories to Whiskey Burning, first novel in the series, but these two characters and personalities are beyond different and unique giving this book it’s own shine.

Amalie’s story is broken and shattering. Left partially deaf after a horrible accident has her guilt stricken and saddened to the core. Her life takes a positive spin when she meets Country music star Scarlett and begins to tour with her. Now, she is face to face with Malakai, Iron Fury’s MC President and an alpha fierceness. Never did she think she would be in a presence such as his. Malakai, Maverick's brother, is drawn to Amalie. Her hopelessness is the distraction he needs in his life and she is bringing out emotions within him that he can’t describe.

“There is something about her, something so f---n perfectly broken, and yet so perfectly pure.”

She must wade through the deep waters to find her peacefulness. Can she find that calm that she craves with a bad boy MC president?

Within Hushed Torment, Bella’s heroine, Amalie, has a hearing disability but excels as a pianist. I completely liked this attribute and character description. Disabilities with talents always intrigue me and to me it makes the story shine more. I will, however say that I didn’t care for that she was reminded over and over again, ridiculed with her grief over her loss profusely. It was a little redundant. With that being said, the positive with her brokenness... it sets up for Malakai to come in and swoop her up and turn her world around.

Malakai might rub the readers the wrong way with his proclivities, however, I believe he makes it up later in the book. It’s not to say there weren't moments of frustration on his part; as well as Amalie’s part with their decisions and how they handle situations, but the outcome was great to witness.

Bella has a jewel of a series in her hands with Iron Fury MC and I am on pins and needles anticipating the next book. Can’t wait to see what drama will unfold with the next set of characters.

After the cliffhanger in book 1, I couldn't wait for book 2.
I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised with the direction this story took. At first when I began to read it, I was apprehensive as to how the story would evolve since it featured Amalie and Malachai as the primary characters in this read.
Well, there were totally unexpected twists and turns that had me glued to the pages!
The writing was spot on, and the story evolved and flowed nicely as it incorporated Amalie and Malachai's story into the original suspenseful mystery.
Malachai's character was brutally raw and in typical biker alpha style, his actions were not always likable, but you couldn't help fall in love with him as he tried to protect his club and the woman he was falling for. Amalie was not who we thought she was in book 1, and her character added a new dimension to the overall story.
Everybody is carrying secrets and is looking for redemption by trying to help solve this horrifying development that's moving beyond Scarlett.
My only disappointment was that I wanted to see more of Scarlett and Maverick and we only got glimpses of them.
However, the suspense and the build up, the who's the rat and who's responsible for these occurrences as well as who is Charlie aka Charlene has me anxiously awaiting for the next book!

I got tired of yelling while reading this book. Truly.... PISSED. Malakai and Amalie were just cute. I can't believe her mother was so twisted and just UGH.... Who would not support their daughter for a status that she hasn't had for YEARS.... I was so happy when she was finally put in her place, both times. Amalie gained so much in this book but the backbone was the star of the show. That gave me hope for a strong woman to match the Prez in all things. Nothing to say about Malakai but, he is one of my favorites in the series so far but I am betting Boston may be a close second.... Wait, I have Koda coming in January. Forget it.... Bella Jewel just "make it burn".

I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
Bella Jewel has a way of dragging me into a story and not letting me set it down. I loved Amalie from the start and Malakai stole my heart with his fierceness. My heart broke for all that sweet Amalie suffered throughout this story.
In one night on accident caused Amalie such regret and torture over the past year. She carries demons and a dark shadow knowing what she did not only hurt her and changed her life but also changed the lives of others. However, things started turning around for her when she meet Scarlett, a country music sweetheart, and was given a chance to do what she did best. Little did Amalie know when she started on this new path she would find herself face to face with the President of a motorcycle club. WOW did he stir things in her.
Malakai is the President of Iron Fury and when his brother Maverick decided to protect Scarlett Malakai finds himself face to face with the beautiful Amalie. When he decides something is his he will do anything to make it his and right now Amalie finds herself in his sights. My heart fluttered at the tender side Malakai has only for Amalie but can still let his rough show. He is determined to make the darkness in Amalie disappear. The only thing that can tear them apart is Amalie’s past. Can Malakai overcome what she is keeping held in or will it crush them.
To see the friendship that Amalie and Scarlett form is such a beautiful thing. The amount of talent that Amalie holds within herself because she is unsure is amazing. The kindness she shows others no matter what she gets in return is something most would not tolerate but she does because of her big heart. My heart ached for what Amalie and Charlie endured but if there is a positive to come out of a negative is that they were there for each other when they needed someone and a friendship was formed that will last.
I am loving this series and the bikers that hopefully find their one eventually. I cannot wait to hear more about Boston and Mason but Koda is next. I am so excited for Koda and Charlie’s story so many secrets to uncover with these two like how come Koda does what he does and what is Charlie running from. I will be patiently waiting for January to arrive so I can finally get his story.

I've been so looking forward to this second book in the Iron Fury MC series. I couldn't put this down it is so good.

Amalie once had no hearing issues but a car accident robbed her of this sense and a lot more. Meeting Scarlett Belle and supporting her on the piano has helped in many ways. Malakai is the president of the Iron Fury MC and brother to Maverick, Scarlett's boyfriend. Being around Amalie brings feelings Malakai isn't used to experiencing.

Once again there is plenty of action and drama with a few twists and turns to keep you on your toes. The chemistry between Amalie and Malakai is strong and the Flames of passion are high. Where he is a tough, no-nonsense biker she is a softly spoken wears her heart on her sleeve musician. They balance each other perfectly.

The story is told from both lead characters points of view which enables readers to become more acquainted with them as well as go back in time to unlock Amalie's demons. You definitely go through all of the highs and lows, with each character and the feelings they experience.

Can't wait for Book 3!

Another Great Book from a go-to Author for a great read!!!

A great follow-on to book 2 in the series with a seamless flow into this book you will not be disappointed if you enjoyed the first book or in fact, if like me you love the writing style of the awesome Bella Jewel. I love the way she can transport me into her stories with ease and I am yet to find a book from her that I haven't enjoyed.

Bring on Book 3! These Bikers are as HOT as all her Leading ALPHAS and trust me YOU want to get your hands on them!!!

It is really hard to rate when you notice a pattern of the author which is exactly the same in both books - I don't know about you, but I don't really like to read a series about two different sets of characters where they both have the same storyline.... I swear they just have to listen. I had hoped for a better part of Amelia's story though I was a bit disappointed. Even if Charly showed up and brought some fresh wind, the proceedings were predictable.
Still, I got to give props for the emotions and the overall character of Amelia, she is beautiful, inside and out. I adore her. Her ex can go to hell for all I care.

I enjoyed seeing more of the club and the troubles surrounding it, but I don't enjoy the way the men act when they "can't have the one they can't get out of their head". It takes away any romance in the story, especially when the same thing happens in this book that happened in the first book. I need to believe in the romance and that ruined it for me. I was glad when Amalie decided to stop being everyone's doormat but felt it came a little too late. I will read more because I need to know how the ongoing troubles become resolved.

Bella Jewel has a format and it works. admittedly these stories will not work for everyone as the triggers for abuse and assault are many but those who can read this type of story and see it as a testament to the strength and courage of survivors will definitely enjoy this series. her men are rough, crude and coarse but when they finally accept love they fall hard and offer everything of themselves with their whole hearts. the women are strong .. very strong .. they are sassy and sexy, giving and supporting and the backbone of their men. great reading ... great writing. very much looking forward to the next in the series

I received a copy of this book to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.

Hushed Torment is the second book in Bella Jewel's Iron Fury MC. You will better understand the back story if you read the first book Whiskey Burning, which by the way is such a good book. Hushed Torment is Amalie and Malakai's story.

Amalie was in a terrible accident that was not her fault with her ex boyfriend on the night she is breaking up with him. This accident caused her hearing loss and for him to be unable to walk. She carries so much guilt over this and visits him daily. He is horrible to her and blames her for everything that has happened and does not want her to move on with her life. However now Scarlet has offered her the job of playing piano with her on her new album and Amalie is super excited. She also has the hots for Malakai who is the president of the Iron Fury MC but due to the guilt she carries she tells no one her story of her hearing loss and refuses to move on with her life. Can she every forgive herself enough to move on and have the life she deserves? And are they ever going to be out of the danger that is Treyton?

I loved this book. My heart broke so many times for Amalie. She carries so much guilt over what happened to her and Caiden. At this point I must say that Caiden is awful. I would have liked to have smacked him up the side of the head a time or two for the way he is towards Amalie. Also her mother is horrible too. I felt like everyone just pushed her around and I wanted her so badly to stand up for herself and say you people can suck it. I too thought that Malakai was perfect for Amalie. All Amalie wants is to play her piano and make her dreams come true. She deserves it and she needs a good man to show her what it is really like to be loved. She needs someone to make her feels things she has not felt in years and by George she deserves to be happy. You get to of course see the characters from the previous book and I loved seeing more of Scarlett and Maverick and we get more of Charlie in this book. there is still the sense of danger that started in Whiskey Burning with Treyton. You will swoon, be angry, on the edge of your seat and fall in love with these characters.

I can not wait to see what is going to happen in the next book. I wan't Charlie's story so bad. I just have to know more about this amazing woman who is tough as nails but has some deep dark secrets. Bella Jewel never fails to suck me into her books and keep me on my toes and one the edge of my seat the whole entire time. Her writing style is flawless and I can't wait for the next book.

Bella Jewel is really rocking this new MC Series. Hushed Torment is book 2 of the Iron Fury Series and I cannot wait for book 3! Koda and Charlie's book should be explosive.

Once you start this book you will not put it down. I devoured it in just a few hours. I had to know how Malakia and Amalie story would end. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. The drama and craziness were just enough and not over the top.

Hushed Torment is Malakia and Amalie's story. Malakia aka the pres. of the MC has met the woman who captivates his soul. All the things of his past are just that. The past. He wants her to be his future.

The problem is that Amalie has demons and monsters of her own she is fighting. Amalie is afraid that if Mal knew who she was it would ruin what he thought of her. She does not want to taint their relationship with her truth him her secrets.

In most of the book, Amalie is not a strong heroine. This did bother me some as I read. I like my heroines with more of a backbone. Amalie let her family and ex completely rule her life and it almost cost her everything. I did a little happy dance when Amalie finally stood her ground. It took her almost losing everything to see the light.

Mal is your typical MC pres. He does not take crap from no one and has no remorse. That is until his Angel rocks his world and the thought of not having her in his life levels him.

The push and pull between these two is a good balance. Their personalities complement the other. I also love how Bella Jewel sprinkles her other characters in her books and who get a glimpse of them all throughout the book. She has all set up for this next book. I cannot wait to devour it as well.

I've read so many mixed reviews about this story. I wasn't even sure I should buy and read it but decided to give it a chance. This is Book 2 in the Iron Fury MC series I did not read the first, but it would help if you do because the story is a continuance of the first book but with different main characters. I was pleasantly surprised about this story. Their is some things that Malakai did that I did not agree with, the second time he did it he was hurt, but did not let Amalie explain what was going on. Malakai is sort of a manwhore in a way, but when he sees Amalie he wants her and wants to love her.

Amalie is simply broken she takes so much abuse from her own mother and her ex boyfriend whom she was in a horrible accident went they both have scars from this his are a bit worst, and he blames her but she is not completely at fault. He helped cause their accident. Amalie and Malakai had a long road ahead of them. Amalie wants him but she thinks she does not deserve to be happy all because of her mother and ex.
Malakai wants to protect her, he has never loved a woman before, and their is also still danger out there for Amalie with Treyton Scarlett's ex still on the loose. Can he protect her can they even be together with all of this craziness. Be warned this story is a little dark in some areas. The big question is Do they find and stop Treyton. This book is a real emotional roller coaster that will keep you on the edge of your seat from the beginning until the end.

I liked Amalie and I liked Malakai but I'm not sure I liked them together because they had zero chemistry. For most of the book, Amalie is verbally abused by her mother, her ex- boyfriend and her ex's mother. It was sad what happened to her and how she lost her hearing but it wasn't her fault, it was the ex's fault. Malakai the president of the Iron Fury Mc, likes Amalie, but I think he just likes the way she looks and that's all. At least with Maverick and Scarlett they spent some time talking in the first book. So when Amalie's ex tells reporters lies about the accident and how she's spending time with bikers, Malakai goes off the deep end and gets mad at her without asking for the truth, that turned me off. He supposedly likes this woman but won't give her time to tell her side of the story and when she finds him he's with another chick. I wanted to like this story but it fell flat. Charlie does intrigued me though and she seems to have plenty of chemistry with Koda and I wanna know who's after her. And it looks like Boston found himself a girl too with Penny. The whole bikers with country singers is a bit much, I feel like the women's celebrity will crash with their underground dealings. Hopefully Charlie and Koda's story is better.
