Keeping It Casual is a steamy standalone contemporary romance novel with a happily ever after that will melt your heart. Intended for a mature audience. 18+
Emma Tharp is the USA Today Bestselling Author of The Bluff Harbor Series, Keeping It Casual, Drawn to Dark, and the McLoughlin Brother Series. She was raised in upstate New York. Being an only child, she spent a great deal of time alone, dreaming up characters who would keep her company on long family road trips. Putting her writing on the back burner, she went to college and became a chiropractor. After spending twelve years healing patients, Emma decided—with the help of her amazingly supportive husband—to use the creative side of her brain and let her characters come to the page. If she’s not writing, Emma can be found at the gym, one of her kids sporting events, Starbucks, or a live music event. A perfect day for Emma would be spent at her lake house with her husband, two ginger-haired children, and Vizsla, reading a book and drinking a large cup of coffee (or wine) with music playing in the background.
This was a fairly good read. Low on angst and this had good potential for some angst to bring it up a few notches but I found it was just even keeled.....
I wasn't to keen on when he was talking about his past "love" it was weird and made me feel like the heroine may be second best...I don't know maybe I read it wrong lol but that was how I felt:(
It was a fast read and again liked it but just didn't quite love it!
Had Promises of a Stellar Romance... Keeping it Casual by author Emma Tharp was an OK story. I say that because I have issues when female authors have their female protagonists lead strong professional lives only to act like teenage girls when it comes to relationships with men and by default, their girlfriends as well. In this storyline there were glimpses of maturity in Mia when it came to Reid and her friend, Faye but it was inconsistent. The saving grace about this book and the reason why I was able to finish it, is it's a relatively short book (16 Chapters plus Epilogue). A lot of readers don't mind stories about thirty year old women with the angst of a teenager. To those I say, go for it. I am volunteering to leave a review of this advanced review book.
Reid and Mia meet up again after being years apart at a dance club...They agree to one night together..they make the best of it..When Mia awakes the next day he is gone..but he keeps calling and they keep spending time together..but as with anything they hurt each other in different ways..Mia pulls away when Reid goes away for a week without nothing to Mia...Than she sees him with someone else..that is when she realizes she wants more...They continue the hurting and than making up..Mia loses her job and goes to Cali to check out Reid's job..she decides to move there..Can they work and build on a relationship or will it end before it started? This was a good fast short read.

The night gets better when her ex from school Reid comes up with a solution for them both. Are they ready to accept this challenge? I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
