This wonderful book is a prequel to the unexpected series. It made me understand the characters better since I started reading the first book, The Unexpected Bonding. In my opinion you should read this book first before the trilogy. You would understand the trilogy better if you do read this book first. This book left me an emotional wreck lol. This book is a year jerker just to earn you. You can actually feel the emotions of each of the characters. This book also has its funny parts too. It's actually a mixture of everything. This series is highly recommended when though I am still reading book one.

This is the prequel to the unexpected trilogy and it is a story about shapeshifting wolves namely Numito/Romero’s pack and he is their alpha. He finds a mate in Sylvia Rhea and they have a son, Julio but Rhea is set upon by a wolf from a rival pack and she is killed by a starved vampire he Amulius had kept purposely with this murder in mind. This devastates Numito and Julio ends up losing not only his mum but his father too for quite a while and the pack were floundering without their leader. Then Numito meets Helena, a human and they get married, the pack accept and celebrate the wedding even though it was a first for them that a shifter marries a human and this time they have a daughter but Helena falls grievously ill and dies too and the struggles for Numito keep on happening. This is a story of love, heartbreak and the strength to carry on with life for the sake of others and Numito does just this for the sake of his children and his pack! He is an excellent alpha leader.

Beautiful story

This is kind of a little peek at Numito’s journey in love. His true mate and mother to Julio is murdered and during his grief he finds a new human mate who becomes his wife and mother to Livvie. The story is short (60% on my kindle is when it ends) but it is filled with love and heartache. I think it’s an integral piece of pack history and would say it would fit well to be read before An Unexpected Bonding but doesn’t hurt to read it after either.

Shifters galore

This was a fun quick read. With woods and vampires. It had some really sad parts but was well written. It had a few excerpts from other books in the back also. It’s always a nice touch to see what else an author has out.

Good Short Stories

A lot of different short stories to let you see the authors style. I enjoyed it. Would like to read more on a couple of the stories.

So this review is shorter than my one for An Unexpected Bonding. Having read that first, I will honestly say you don't have to read it before you snag this book up. This story had twists and turns, heartaches and happiness. I laughed at certain points and felt like the author ripped my heart out in others.
She has a way with words and this story captures the Alpha Numito Romero and his journey with love and mates. It shows Julio and Livvie as kids growing up and provides more detail into their past. I found the authors seamless movement through time progression easy to read. You didn't feel lost or that a certain spot in time didn't get enough attention. This is meant to be a novella, so it is much shorter than her novel, but no less enjoyable of a read.
If you have fallen in love with Lilly's world, then I highly recommend this. If you are new to Lilly as an author, then check this story out as a peak into her world. I don't think you will be disappointed, I know I'm not.

I got this book in exchange for a voluntary review. Numito is finally able to mate with RheaSilvia. Rhea, the wolf,,has finally come into heat. Julio is born from this mating. Life will continue on for Numiito as he loses his wife to a vampire attack.
