A werewolf pack is only as strong as its weakest link and ours … ours is a traitor.
The only people I can trust now are my mates, the seven alpha males I call my own.

Allies and enemies wear the same skins: witches, demons, faeries, vampires … werewolves.
It's impossible to tell what's hiding beneath the carefully crafted facades, the sinful slashes of smiling lips.

Magic died in our people long ago; today, it blinks sleepy eyes and wakes up.
Ancient gods raise their heads, spirits once thought to be whispers of myth, urge us to fight. They give us the power to defend ourselves from those who would take our magic as their own.

This war we're fighting, it started with a seed of hate centuries ago.
Now, it's here, and the fates are unwavering in their predictions—the White Wolf heralds the start of a new era for my people … or the violent thrash of their downfall.
My men and I, we'll defend ourselves with love and magic … or die trying.

***PACK OBSIDIAN GOLD is a 400+ page full-length reverse harem/menage, urban fantasy/paranormal romance novel for mature teens and adults 18+ with a happily ever after waiting at the end of the series. It features one strong woman and her seven hot men that will do whatever it takes to protect and support their alpha. This book contains: werewolves, magic, vampires, dark fae, witches, demons, intrigue, steamy sex scenes, romance, paranormal politics, and true love. This is book three of seven.

C.M. Stunich is a self-admitted bibliophile with a love for exotic teas and a whole host of characters who live full time inside the strange, swirling vortex of her thoughts. Some folks might call this crazy, but Caitlin Morgan doesn't mind - especially considering she has to write biographies in the third person. Oh, and half the host of characters in her head are searing hot bad boys with dirty mouths and skillful hands (among other things). If being crazy means hanging out with them everyday, C.M. has decided to have herself committed.

She hates tapioca pudding, loves to binge on cheesy horror movies, and is a slave to many cats. When she's not vacuuming fur off of her couch, C.M. can be found with her nose buried in a book or her eyes glued to a computer screen. She's the author of over thirty novels - romance, new adult, fantasy, and young adult included. Please, come and join her inside her crazy. There's a heck of a lot to do there.

Oh, and Caitlin loves to chat (incessantly), so feel free to e-mail her, send her a Facebook message, or put up smoke signals. She's already looking forward to it.

I'm totally okay with cliffhangers. I can handle them very well, if I may say so myself. There's a reason I'm okay with not binging series and always having at least a week between two books by the same author. But...not knowing when the paperback of the fourth book is going to be released and then being left with this cliffhanger, that's just mean.

I don't know exactly when it happened, when I started caring about these characters that much that I can actually remember their names (I'm really terrible with names, I usually have to look them up when writing reviews). I guess it happened slowly, with each conversation, with each bit of personal information that was given, with each little bit of background that made those characters more interesting and more layered. But I love it. I love how much I like them and how much I care.

I also love that those books are about more than just sex. Don't get me wrong, the sex is good, but there's also a plot and that plot is interesting, complicated and filled with awesome twists, turns and revelations. The mythological world Stunich has crafted is just impressively full. There are so many creatures and therefore the politics becomes more and more interesting with every book I read.

There are a lot of spin off's that I'd wanna read, but I mostly want the fourth (and fifth, and sixth, and seventh) book of this series first. I'm officially addicted. I'll be refreshing Amazon daily to check!

Again I really hated how she ended this book... Ugh such a big cliffhanger!!!! 😑... Anyway it was such a disappointment when I found out that the 4th book that was supposed to be released back in March has yet to still be release now that we're in June.. *smdh*.. So I don't know when I will be able to finish this damn series because the author found her self being overwhelmed and over extended because she had other book releases.... 😤😤😤😤😤...

Anyway, I guess I don't have a choice but to wait for the next installment to see what happens to these heroes and the heroine that I'm finding I'm really falling in love with 😍.

I’m thoroughly in love with this series, but you must certainly be a reverse harem fan to appreciate it. Stunich goes from strength to strength with her writing and it just gets better and better.

Zara’s relationships continue to deepen as her liaisons of all types mature increasing the complexities as the plot thickens. The mystery element to this series is instrumental to both the plotline and the simultaneous atmosphere building in the novels, of which I’m completely addicted to.

Solid but short

Maybe I’m the only person who feels this way but Alpha Red’s books keep getting shorter and shorter! I’m sure it’s just because I eat through t so fast I don’t stop for air.
I have to say CM Stunich is probably my favorite RH author next to Tate James because her stories and plot lines are more than just sexy situations. Her books are intriguing and exciting and this one is no exception.
With the unveiling of a new threat I’m very interested to see how it all plays out.
Can’t wait for the next book.

A stunning sequel

Every world created by CM Stunich seems to have the ability to grab me by the throat and not let go. The last few pages always tease something to come and I need to know what happens next.

I feel like more needs to happen with Faith. She felt so sidelined I'm this book so I hope she does more in the next book. I love the development of the magic and mythology within the series. I find legends within a book really add to the world building and it excites me to think of what it's all hinting at.

The pacing in this book was super slow. There were a lot of great details and revelations but I did find myself forcing to push through. Still unpredictable like the previous books, which is a plus. Some repetitive points now (like constantly reiterating how differently humans and werewolves handle being naked). I still think Zara is awesome but want to really see her alpha up.

Let me first say that I love how Stunich writes, I do. It's all so effortless and flowy and awesome. But this book is sadly just a bit repetitive: it's the same horny teenage angst as before, and it feels too long for the number of actual revelations and true action scenes that take place. And only the last few pages really made me wake up a bit and feel energized.

The main plot is advancing a little too slowly for my taste. There are these tiny new plot lines added constantly, and I don't know if they're even essential to the story or just fluff. Also, a bit too much attention is paid to everyone else's relationships instead of Zara's and her mates' - to the point where Zara keeps mentioning "needing to have a chat with one of her mates, getting to know a guy better, or feeling like she wants to console her mate", but she doesn't actually do the things she keeps thinking about doing. It's all a bit exhausting.. with so many things up in the air, waiting for a conclusion.

I'm hesitant to continue with this series, seeing as it's got seven books (right?), and I already feel that the story is being stretched out far too long. Perhaps a trilogy would have sufficed?

And also, I don't know if the romance (read: horny sexy vibes) can last for four more books without turning either boring or unnecessary: the sex just seems sort of silly now, like it's something to do to fill up the pages. I'm sure the whole "I love you" -stuff will soon come out, but I don't know if I care at this point. (Truly sorry to say.)

But we shall see.. Perhaps book #4 will surprise me..?

That ending.....

I hate cliffhangers. I don't know why I do this to myself.

The alliances are starting to form in this book and I love it. Bunch of queens in one room together, working together, is the best thing. We start to see more about what makes Zara wolf special. I want to see more about what she is capable of in the next book! She's going to be such a great Alpha.

I hope to see more of the men in action. Right now, I feel like they are eye candy, not much else. They can hold their own in a fight but I want to see them prove themselves. I hope we get to see more of a relationship evolution in the next book. I'm a sucker for reading about the relationship turning from strangers to friends to lovers to more.

Overall: 4/5

"What happens if I can't choose just one?"
“One male?” she asked, because my mother was nothing if not perceptive. “Good question.”

Well, things are definitely never boring around here. There are new and unexpected developments in every book and no end in sight. Not that I'm complaining, not at all. I'm enjoying the hell out of these books. I just wish they were longer, because Pack Obsidian Gold was entirely too short to properly satisfy my cravings. I need the next one.

It just gets better and better. Zara and her guys just can’t seem to have time for themselves especially since danger is everywhere. With trying too learn more about her magic and her mysterious tattoo, Zara knows there is only a matter of time before the war starts. I love every minute her and her sexy mates are together, especially Tidas, Zara and Jax in the woods, damn that was hot and the ending holy shit, I need the next book ASAP. Another phenomenal read that I couldn’t put down.

An incredibly intense read - minor spoilers/story details included

Things get intense in this book, really quickly. While each book explores the growing relationships between Zara and all her men, Ebon Red gave us deeper insight into Nic, Violet Shadow gave us insight into Che, and now Obsidian Gold gives us insight into Silas, and oh, what lovely insight. Silas is such an loving mate, open and honest, and perfectly balanced for Zara in every way. He's raw and refreshing and quietly, confidently self aware. I really enjoyed getting to know him.

Zara's world has gotten all sorts of complicated, not just with her relationships with the men, and the growing joys and challenges of trying to manage all those very large ...personalities, but with a traitor in their midst and the witches brewing up all kinds of trouble, things get real. Really, really real. Zara is tested in ways I never expected, and the emotional connections are intense.

This book, for me, had a darker, grittier feel to it than the first couple in the series, and I enjoyed it immensely. The experiences are a lot more bloody, and the consequences are a lot more grim. I was bitterly disappointed that this book ended... I wanted it to continue forever and ever. I'll definitely be auto-buying Pack Ivory Emerald. This series just keeps getting better and better.

So you have Zara developing feelings for 6 new guys, being in love with another one, having to emotionally help him overcome his insecurities all the time. Then the father of one of the guys has been selling their own people to be bled to death, cut to be eaten only to let them recover to start the process again. All for the power of course.
We have a fae in love with a witch maiden that sacrifices her maidenhood for the chance to protect their love
We have a supportive albeit stupid friend that applies high standards for Zara and zero for her.
We have a vampire princess that is 1/4 wolf that becomes a bargaining chip.
We have witches sucking out the magic from the wolves and then resorting to eating them to gain more corrupted power.
We have a grandmother that was the last of the wolves of her time to wield magic, something that Zara finds in herself whenever she touches her guys.
We have a mother that is so scary and strong yet Zara can't trust her with the whole truth.
All those plot lines and even more are developed simultaneously and sometimes is hard to keep up.
I applaud the author for the brainpower to create and move the plot in each direction. But I need a break. I don't know if I would continue with the next book.

Can’t wait to read the next one.

(Shorter than usual because I’m eager to get to the next book. )

I loved this book!!! Zara ends up getting even closer to her men and I was so happy about it—for Silas especially since I’ve have such a soft spot for him. Even though I love all the men, I loved Zara’s scene with him the most

Omg and Anubis!!! I love him too and he got his time to shine in this book as well. A few of the men do actually. And I love how close they all have gotten to one another. Silas worrying about Nic 🥺. Heart warming, heart melting however you want to put it. I was eating it up.

The only thing I wish happened differently was Titus’s mating scene. I know that Zara’s assertiveness was meant to reassure Titus that she wanted him, but I didn’t love the lead up to the act.

The act itself was hot though, but yeah I felt like it could have been handled a little better? Everything else was amazing, the plot the story the smut. I couldn’t book the book down.

Also I hope we get a spinoff story with the Angel, Nim, Noc, Levi and Harlem. I feel like it would be epic.

Anyway. I’m in a hurry to get to the next book.
Would I recommend this series? Absolutely.

On Its Way

Zara and her mates are starting to evolve more. I think it's a giant feat to try and give all 7 mates their spotlight and time with Zara. As a reader you find yourself feeling for all off the MC's... wishing they could just have a few weeks to spend together being intimate. In this third installment Zara still doesn't know much about her mates. She knows she wants all of them - it's a basic instinct and she loves it. She's always aware she could fall for each one of them given the time. I definitely feel Zara's frustration that she's in constant life and death situations and here she is just trying to get to know these men she wants as her life mates. I think I would enjoy just an entire book of character development and sex from this group - and then the investment for the characters would go even deeper.

What's interesting is as the reader you know what Zara knows. Which is very little. So you can definitely share in her frustrations.

I love how "Alpha" she is as a female. That's something I love in anything I read. And I love that these men are devoted to her. It's just such a nice change.

Can't wait for the next book

Pack Obsidian Gold is the third installment of the Zara Wolf series. The story is slowly unravelling and pulling me in even more.

I was a little bummed to not really see Whitney get any time in this book but I'm assuming that's coming. I appreciate Stunich's intentional mention of characters. She doesn't rush anything just for the sake of having a character in there.

The scene with Zara and her grandmother along with a little someone had me incredibly interested as to where that's going to go and how that certain someone will come into play later.

The steam continues in this book. The alpha males seem to be more accepting of being apart of Zara's harem. I appreciated that Nic wasn't as whiny throughout this book, his experience in the last book hopefully has knocked his head on straight.

Read this book! You won't regret it.

Why was this book so short??? At first I thought it just felt short because I enjoyed it so much and wanted more, but no - it really is short. I don't read that fast. It's not novella short, but if it was paperback, it would be really, really skinny.
That aside - I love this series, and because of the names of the packs - I'm guessing there will be 7 books. I'd rather the story be told in 1-2 full-length novels. When I'm in love with characters, I want to be carried away and live in their world for a while - not for only 2-3 hours then deal with the real world for months before I get to spend 2-3 more hours with them. My love life is tragic enough - CM - please give me a story I can get lost in for much longer!

Zara Castille is a werewolf, heir to the largest and most powerful pack in North America. Not only does she have the responsibility of taking over for her mother, the current Alpha Female of Pack Ebon Red, but she has to choose a mate. But what's a girl to do when there's not one, not two, but seven hot Alpha Males to choose from? With her seven mates by her side, Zara will need to take on powerful faerie courts, vampire conspiracies, and wicked witches if she wants to see her people survive in a world of dark magic and blood. Pack Obsidian Gold is book #3 in this fantastic series. I can't wait for book #4, Pack Ivory Emerald, to be released. Hurry!

Zara’s story continues, the war is on the horizon, magic is being awakened, the witches still want to gather all the power and Nick survived the only certain thing in life, death.
One of the biggest surprises in this book was how much I liked Nikolina. In the first 2 books she came across as brutal and unemotional (except anger), but now we get to see how smart she really is, how her teachings made Zara fight for what she wants and didn’t make her feel entitled.
Zara is developing deeper feelings for her mates and making it her mission to protect them. They are starting to function like a unit, and the boys are more accepting of each other.
Overall another amazing book by CM Stunich.

Couldn't put it down!!

I have to say that when I first started reading this series I was a little confused by the new ideas implemented in the paranormal groups such as women ruling the werewolves all other ones I've read men have been the alphas and women were beneath the men but I was pleasantly surprised that in this series strength and only strength determines your placement in the pack also was happy to see that Zara doesn't immediately jump into bed with the seven alpha men as most reverse harems do she lets it happen naturally loved the character development and the unfolding of the plot definitely would recommend.

I absolutely love how the h revels in being a wolf shifter, she's not human and embraces her animal self. She is a wonderful young h, with courage and arrogance mixed with the rare ability of being willing to listen to others. She makes her own decisions using what she has learned, what a pleasure it is to see female so wonderfully developed and real. She gains respect from her mother and grandmother, and she is challenging the status quo. She wants all of her men, but is willing to give them choices. This was a wow moment for me. I a big fan of this series, in spite of the underage hs, and school setting. It all works so well, because it is great fantasy.

Ok, so here's the thing: no matter how I force myself to read in a much slower pace, you know, savor the words I read and all that jazz...I just can't. I can't. It's freaking 2018 already...but yeah, that's one pointless resolution. lmao. But really, I just turn and turn pages until I hit the last sentence and I was like, that's it? So many things happened, great progression of discovering more infos and background stories...then, the end. and that cliffhanger, huhu, harsh. (But long term-wise, aka seeing the bigger picture, it means more books in the series so yay!)

I continue to fall more in love with Zara and her mates

As Zara and her mates continue to work their way through their complicated Contribution assignment, their relationships develop and mature. Nick is still struggling with some of the events of the previous book and I look forward to seeing what’s to come for him. Sexy times occur as Zara continues to claim her mates, secrets are revealed, murder and mayhem abound, in this action packed installment. I love this series and can’t wait to read more

Yay!

Ok, honesty time. I have read other books by this author that people have loved and just felt like I didn't connect. The werewolf thing is not typically for me but in this case it grabbed my attention.

The writing is superb, the story and details so different from others in the genre and each interaction strengthened each character for me.

I really did border on 5 stars but I am truly precious about them. I don't doubt I will give a 5 star rating at some point in this series though.

Such a fantastic read, I haven't been able to put this series down. I absolutely love this storyline! Zara and her mates have a hard time in this book. Finding missing werewolves, fighting witches, demons, witches and angels. Poor Zara, she finds out some things about her heritage that shocks the crap out of her. This book ends in a big cliffhanger.
