Wickedly They Come by Cathrina Constantine is dark, ominous YA thriller. I love dark and ominous and it's perfect for older YA and adult readers.
The story revolves Seeley (love that name) and her daughter Jordan. Jack, (Seeley’s husband and Jordan’s father) belonged to The Black Order, then abruptly changed his alliance after falling in love and having a daughter. This doesn’t set well with the evil powers that be at the Black Order and after Jack’s death they want Jordan to be consecrated as their own. It’s now up to Seeley and Jordan to fight them with the help of two angels, Mark and Zeke.
I don’t give away spoilers or too much of the plot in my reviews, but this was a fast-paced, action packed story sprinkled with humor. The characters were well developed both good and evil, adult and teenager. Ms. Constantine nailed her writing of normal teenage angst. Jordan must deal with a new school, trying to fit in with new friends (some of which may not be her friends) deciding if her feelings are for the handsome angel, Mark or the hot thrill seeking high school heartthrob all while being stalked by demons.
It was a perfect fit for those of us who love dark (a bit gory and graphic, but not overly so) paranormal tales. But beware, the wonderfully eerie ending will leave you wanting more.

Wickedly They Come is an awesome, unnerving and riveting YA paranormal thriller.
I’m not going to discuss the plot, which pulled me right in after the first few pages, since it's been done. The story revolves around the mother and daughter duo, Seeley and Jordan Chase who try to bring down an evil and vicious adversary.
Ms. Constantine delves deeper into the good versus evil trope with brilliant execution and some heart-stopping moments that had me on the edge of my seat. I loved it!! And that it had a bit of romance, was right up my alley. I fell for the gorgeous angel, Markus, along with the heroine and I hope to see him in the next book, which I plan on reading after this.

An interesting story but a little confusing in places, with a lot of characters. It felt a bit like I was starting in the middle of a series. Jordan doesn't make a very convincing heroine. For someone with such power, she seems so careless and often makes things worse instead of helping. I enjoyed the different relationships she had with her possible boyfriend, Thrill, and her angel, Marcus.

Wickedly They Come, The Wickedly Series, Book 1 is a Christian-based young adult contemporary fantasy written by Cathrina Constantine. Jordan was a young child when she and her mother, Seeley, confronted The Black Order in an attempt to rescue Jack, Jordan's father and Seeley's husband. Asa Trebane was furious with Jack who had been his protege until he renounced his allegiance to the devil. While Jack died despite their best efforts, they were still able to release him from the cross he'd been nailed upon. As he lay dying, he told them where to find his manuscript, and his guardian angel told Seeley and Jordan about Jack's struggles against the proliferation of satanic cults. With the help of their guardian angels, the mother and daughter continue his efforts; however, Asa Trebane still considers Jordan his to consecrate to Lucifer.

Wickedly They Come is also a coming of age story as it shows the previously home-schooled young woman interacting with her peers for just about the first time. Constantine's battle sequences are dynamic and a lot of fun to follow, and her demons are suitably awful and terrifying. This is a well-written fantasy which, while predominantly Christian-based, is suitable for contemporary fantasy readers regardless of their religious background. It's well-written, has outstanding characters, and a convincing plot. Wickedly They Come, The Wickedly Series, Book 1 is highly recommended.

Wickedly They Come is an intense, dark, won’t want to put it down until you get to the end kind of novel. It was the sort of story that had me thinking and asking questions as I read. I was always happy to see my questions answered later on in the novel which made me smile because Ms. Constantine had set me up.
Jordan and her mother, Seely were wonderful characters and I found myself liking and rooting for them. They grew as individuals by the ending of the book and I enjoyed the transition. Saving humanity was their main focus and they took their destinies seriously.
Dealing with a teenager, even one who is a warrior and can kick demon ass can be difficult. Ms. Constantine portrayed this wonderfully. More than once I wanted to take Jordan by the nape of the neck and steer her in the direction she should go, but as a stubborn teenager she had to make mistakes and then live with the consequences.
I wasn’t expecting the book to have romance, but I got some and it made me happy. Almost as happy as the vivid fight scenes.
One issue I had with the novel was the use of the omnipresent point of view. But once I got the grasp of what Ms. Constantine was doing, it was easier to adjust to as the novel unfolded.
If you are looking for a novel filled with action, teenage angst, good versus evil, and yes a little bit of romance, then Wickedly They Come is for you.

The story centers around teenager Jordan and her mother Seeley, both of whom are agents for good in the endless battle against evil. Joined in the fight by their own personal guardian angels, Seeley and Jordan are tenacious warriors against Lucifer and his demons.
Jordan reminded me of one of my favorite teen heroines of all time, Buffy Summers from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Jordan struggles between accepting her warrior destiny and simply wanting to be a normal teenage girl who dates and attends school dances. She's not perfect and she makes mistakes that sometimes land her in more trouble. Jordan's a typical teenager who just happens to be charged with stopping the forces of evil.
The stakes are incredibly high in this battle and the suspense heats up with each turn of the page. The story ends with a chilling and unexpected twist that perfectly sets up the next book in this saga.
I can't wait to see what Constantine has in store for her readers next.

Although Wickedly They Come is categorized as young adult, I enjoyed it and I think any adult who loves paranormal genre will enjoy it. First of all the heroine of the story may be only sixteen but she has the depth and strength of an adult and at times has to make decisions like one. She is more likable than her mother Seeley in this readers humble opinion. I have to say that all the characters were very well written. Jordan,as well as Jordan's frienemy Ronan and all the supporting characters are interesting and believable. This novel has it all, nonstop action, angels, demons and a kick ass heroine who just longs to be a normal teenager but has by virtue of her birth been given extraordinary abilities and basically been charged with saving humanity. It ends in a cliffhanger and I can not wait to read what happens next!

Amazing action scenes and tension. I couldn't stop reading because I was constantly saying "oh no ... oh no ... oh NOOOO!!!!" I love the world Constantine has created of angels and demons, plus a touch of teenage angst. If our tough girl heroine Jordan thought being a warrior was tough, try high school, right? She's such a brave, likable character as is darling Markus and sexy Thrill. This book kept me guessing, for sure, and stressed out in a good way. I can't wait to read the sequel!

I completely agree with the other reviews, in that it was so exciting and difficult to put down! This book is an excellent debut young adult novel with plenty of action-packed fight scenes, some romance, and a twist on the classic good-vs-evil plot. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a tale centered around girl power!!

Ok, like I said on Amazon, CW network needs to contact this author. Love this series! I read the second book first and I just had to get Wickedly they come, to get me up to speed. I did receive both of these books for free to give an honest review. But, I would have paid for them both. Thanks Cathy!

This book starts off with action and doesn't let up, aside from the usual sections of character development. Cathrina has a natural talent for creating believable, likable characters and kick-butt heroines that any reader will admire. I can't wait to read more from this author!

A good YA read. Was a bit slow to read in the beginning but when the background changed the reading was fast paced and enjoyable. I had a hard time putting this one down. would reccomend

Wickedly They Come the first book in a series called The Wickedly Series written by Cathrina Constantine. Sixteen-year-old Jordan and her mother, Seeley, are demon fighting warriors. Both have personal angel guardians that protect and help them fight demons and evil. Unfortunately, Jordan has always been a target for Lucifer and demons because of a prophecy that states that she will become one with Lucifer, a big win for evil against God. But as Jordan, gets older, her personal needs change and she decides to stop home-schooling and attend the local high school, with the added hope of combating the increasing evil that is gripping teens. Now, even as she struggles to keep herself safe outside of school, Jordan quickly enters a group of aspiring teenage witches in an attempt to save them from their forays into evil.
This novel was is a combination between a coming of age story and a fight between good and evil demons. The fight between good and evil is classic, with God, Lucifer, angels, and demons. Jordan and Seeley are devout Christians and the fight between good and evil is intertwined with that. Jordan and Seeley were full characters, but every other character did not seem to have a lot of depth. There was a lot of well-developed action and gore, which kept the story moving and exciting. This is also Jordan's coming of age story. Jordan leaves home-schooling to enter high school and it allows her to fight Lucifer’s minions on her own and on her own terms for the first time. However, I did find Jordan’s actions frustrating because she seemed to be rushing into things too quickly. I think that this feeling came from the fact that a lot of Jordan’s training during her childhood was not really part of the novel. The high school portion of the story is fairly accurate, complete with normal teenage drama, angst and intense crushes, which made the story believable.
The narration by Andrea Emmes was really good. She did a great job of capturing the teenage sass of the high school girls as well as the evil voices of different demonic characters. The production quality was good as well. I would recommend this novel to anyone who likes young adult paranormal novels about fighting evil.

My quick-fire thoughts: This book won an award?
And now for more detail, I suppose.
Look, I'm a huge fan of shows like Supernatural and Buffy - these are perfection in my mind of paranormal awesome. So I like to read books in the genre because of this. But not all books quite live up to my expectations. Like this one.
The premise was interesting, a girl who is destined to be a warrior against evil as the evil ones want to consecrate her to the Devil. Ok, good start. I'm intrigued. But the plot itself really didn't show how this girl is to be a warrior. She spent most of the time almost getting killed, and then just sitting around. Not much actually happened as far as Jordan becoming something awesome as I was expecting her to do.
Let's talk about the general cast of characters - Jordan's mom is the main warrior, yet she also didn't quite do much to protect her daughter. Who really protected this girl? Angels. YES! A book with angels. But, and this is spoilery, but the actual victory over evil dude part? An accident. Or, it sure sounded like one. Ooh let me run away and oops trip and die. Not quite the epic battle of bravery and warrior girl proving her worth, is it? And our new frienemy witch girl who appears to play for both good and evil? I was hoping for some character development on her end, but she pretty much was mean girl with witchy powers and isn't redeemable.
Now, moving on to the audio portion of our discussion. I liked the audio. The narrator did a good job with the voices and the pacing and was pleasant to listen to. I did find myself zoning out and needing to back up a few times, but I think that might be more due to the plot not gripping me than the narration.
Overall, I don't have much to say huh? General 3 stars, good effort, maybe a good start to a series that might end up awesome, who knows.

She is guarded by angels and fights demons alongside her mother Seeley. Jordan dedicates her life to saving those in her vision, she makes friends with some that would do her harm unknowingly. Will she make it out of high school with her soul in tack or will Satan fulfill the prophecy and take her as his?
Wow! This book really grabs you from the beginning. The way Jack comes into the story all the way to the very end. I love how the author hints as there being more to this story even though we get an ending that is very explosive. This was my first book from this author and I am happy to say it won't be my last. This is a story that has many characters in it but you never lose track of what is going on. There is a little bit for everyone. I was rooting hard for Jordan and Seeley. Not only a definite book to read but enjoy immensely.

Wickedly They Come is a YA paranormal thriller with a sprinkling of romance.
Sixteen year old Jordan has to deal with all the angst of being a teenager with the added burden of being a warrior. All she wants is to be normal, not fight alongside her mum and their angels in a war against the demons.
Ms Constantine beautifully portrayed Jordan’s need to fit in and belong, as well as the typical parent/teenager difficulties where the protectiveness and wisdom of Seeley (her mother) clashes with the defiance and independence of Jordan.
I loved it when Mark appeared as the hot new guy at school and had to change his demeanour from that of an angel to a teenage boy and deal with all that being a teenager entails.
In the first few chapters there was a huge info dump which explained events that occurred when Jordan was ten, which I found to be overwhelming and confusing. I thought this back-story could have been woven into the story at a later point as a flashback.
Ms Constantine is a very talented, descriptive writer. Wickedly They Come has plenty of action, unexpected twists, a bit of romance as well as a refreshingly different plot. Find yourself a comfy spot, curl up with this book, and be drawn into the paranormal world of the Jordan and Seeley.
I eagerly await the next instalment.

Ms Constantine is a very talented, descriptive writer. Wickedly They Come has plenty of action, unexpected twists, a bit of romance as well as a refreshingly different plot. Find yourself a comfy spot, curl up with this book, and be drawn into the paranormal world of the Jordan and Seeley.
I eagerly await the next instalment.

At the first few pages of “Wickedly They Come” by Cathrina Constantine a reader is drawn into paranormal world where angels and demons fight a never-ending war to protect the human kind from darkness of evil. The story reminds us that evil never rests. Even when defeated, the evil will come back stronger and wickeder. Any move, comment or confiding in those Jordan thought of as her friends was a trap. Jordan and her mother, Seeley can point out demons in the crowd. They fight them, with the help of their assigned archangels. Jordan and her angel, Marcus, share the special bond. But when she decides to go to high school instead of being home-schooled, he follows in his teenage human body. Teenage girls drool over him while boys befriend him, but not every girl is an ordinary hormone spiked, with head in clouds. Ronan is more, she is a witch dabbling in dark powers. The Black Order makes her promises of giving her Marcus all to herself and she accepts. Will she help the devil or betray him?
Things get bad, really bad for both, Jordan and Ronan. Having angels on her side, Jordan survives, though it was close call for her. Ronan, on the other hand, disappears, presumed dead.
The ending of the book is eerie and unexpected and will leave you waiting on your toes for the conclusion in the next book.

Constantine has weaved together a very religiously based tale without being overly preachy. She takes the pains of growing up and gives them a whole new element. Her descriptions and narrative set the story for her audience in a manner that makes it easy to follow.
The characters in this novel were intriguingly put together. The family structure in this novel was a little atypical, but it worked for the characters. It actually served to explain the odd character traits of the two main characters. At times they fit perfectly with their roles in the novel, at others they seemed a little off.
My only issue with this novel is that I found it quite hard to get immersed in. The story was well put together and extremely unique but there was just something missing.

This was a fantastic book! I really enjoyed the main character Jordan and how she seemed to want a normal life even though she couldn't have one. I also liked how she always stuck to what she believed in. Markus was an interesting character, but I think one of my favorites was Thrill. He kept life interesting for Jordan. I also enjoyed the mother-daughter bond. I don't see a lot of that in YA - at least in a lot of the books I've read. It felt more genuine in this book - Seeley's love and concern for her daughter. Aside from the characters, the plot was riveting! It really kept me guessing all the way. I am definitely looking forward to reading the next book in this series!

For a debut author, I was impressed. Cathrina Constantine has the ability to keep the reader turning pages. Constantine takes you on a riotous roller-coaster ride of pandemonium. Angels versus Demons and an wicked sorcerer who has the power to release evil spirits from hell, and a mother and daughter who are caught up in the battle which has come to earth.
This book was something different in my reading choices and I was glad I ventured to a new genre.

A quick read but packed full of action.
Teens, angels, demons, gripping and well written. It does have religious elements, but that isn't overdone.
Suitable for the young and young at heart.

Wickedly They Come by Cathrina Constantine is an interesting book - in a good way. I enjoyed reading it and found many points of interest. On the surface, the main conflict is good vs. evil, a trope that can be difficult to capture *just so* without coming off as pompous or overbearing. In Wickedly They Come, this common conflict was handled in a way that was quite uncommon. Jordan, the protagonist, is a teenage girl. Her beliefs run deep and strong, like other similar characters, but unlike many others, she behaved normally. Often with this theme, the character is written to be naive, innocent, and above bad behavior. Jordan's characterization shows her to have normal teen doubts and lapses in judgment, and to make questionable decisions, despite her knowledge and beliefs. Author Cathrina Constantine wrote a great depth of character in Jordan that made her both believable and likeable. The other characters in the book were a bit harder to understand, as they were often only viewed in snippets and were generally written two-dimensionally. Particularly with Markus and Ronan, I was frequently left somewhat confused about what happened, or what was significant about their interactions. There were a few times that I was jarred out of the story from what seemed to be irrelevant/out of place, but I found it easy to get back on track and those things often made sense later. The ending, which I won't spoil, left me a bit disappointed and seemed rushed, but there were some good loose ends left hanging along with an intriguing hint of things to come in the next book. Overall, I liked Wickedly They Come, and enjoyed reading it.

For some reason, when I first started reading this book, I thought it was a paranormal romance. Then I read about the slaughter of Jack and his young daughter's reliance on Angels, and I said " oh no! Another messed up dystopia".
There are elements of both in this multi book tale. And the story isn't simply good guys vs bad guys. Many shades of gray are explored; even how vengeance might appeal to a heavenly being who works among humans, amid evil.
The lures of money and success are explored in a way that, like the sensuality also displayed, shows that the appealing things can be really appealing - not just yucky bad seeming things that are easy not to choose.
Darkness and Light both show many facets, and struggles are depicted in compelling, if painful, ways.
I initially received an advanced copy of this book .
My review is honest, and fair, though not as fair as many of the temptations the young heroine faces.
Her very understandable desire to be "just normal" is never achieved. The appeal and inherent dangers and temptations in every day life, especially to the young, who want to succeed well depicted in a real life, relatable way, despite the supernatural elements of the story.
The biggest successes: Other-ness is felt as not really so different. Further, we're left with a definite curiosity about what happens next.
