Neil R. Beller Jr., Associated Press award winning writer, and Emmy Award-winning TV editor, uses his merry, yet mischievous memoirs to wrap you up in the warm blanket of his youth. The memories he paints a picture of aren’t sappy, wistful, or mushy, though. They are bursting with chuckle-provoking antics and with humorous sentimentality that we can all relate to. Allow him to transport you in the Way Back Machine to a time when simple fun was enjoyed by all. Take the “big blue bus” down memory lane to Missing Pine Park.
This is a laugh out loud funny book. If you grew up in the 60's or 70 and fun way to revisit the joys of growing up them. Then share it with your kids so they can see what the world was light before cell phones and mobile computers. Loved this book!!!
I was anxious to read this book since I also grew up in Carney. This took me on a trip through my childhood. I was about 10 years older than Neil but still knew some of the people he talked about.
Funny book about growing up in Carney in the 60s and 70s. Neil Beller has a great memory for the past. This book brought back a lot of memories of the times. Neil was definitely a spirited child and gave his parents a lot of grief, however it seemed like his heart was in the right place even if his grand ideas were not.
Beller writes a heartwarming story about his life growing up in small town USA, Carney MD. His childhood was filled with fun and antics that kept me smiling throughout the book. Carefree and footloose in the 60's as a child was the best. Wow, have times changed for the kids growing up today!
