This is so funny! This is a story about a group of people living together centered around the owner of the building and a house caretaker and it is HILARIOUS!! I loved the art style - it seems a bit careless but really expressive.
I want to buy this so bad but there's no official English translation. Firstly, the art style is so good that I would love to have this in my hands- a physical copy with all those colors aah. And if it's official, the translation would be better because oh man, some of it was so rough, it was taking away from the emotion.
I was thinking of Salinger again: I think this is an author that I would like to call up, hang out and chill with. Just the references are so cool. And the art style is just SO good (it's out of this world, the colors, the lines, the sketchiness, the details, the clothes, everything is so stylish, it's so perfect). And I am sure the words were good too if I could actually read them (see re:bad translation; I am not blaming anyone- obviously these are fans doing free translation and that is why i even got to read this but yeah that speech would have probably made me cry if it were a good translation, i just know it). (I wish I was one half of a couple as cool as Eun Joo and Woo Jin but they are both so much cooler than me so it's never going to happen TwT) I really would not have minded if it was longer- it might have even benefitted from it. The story felt a bit weirdly paced towards the end- but that might just be me not understanding completely what the characters are feeling because the translation was confusing. I feel like it would make a good tv show- or a movie. A roommates kinda show like 'new girl' or friends. it has got that sitcom vibe in the middle. And then overarching storyline with woojin's family and his brother gives it a climax and resolution that would suit the movie format. Even an animated movie with this godly art style would work well. It really is so beautiful. I never read BL or yaoi manga/manhwa because in my head it's always straight women writing and reading them who would never touch yuri with a six feet pole and it makes me so mad. But the other works of this author are all BL i think- i might give them a try just for the art style.
I read this as a webcomic, but happy to know that there's a book version of this gem. I love everything about this - the art style, the characters, the plot, the story, the dialogues - everything is where it should be and nothing short of perfection.
Kang Eun Joo found herself in a crisis when she both lost her job (at a fashion company) and a place to stay. Desperate, she took a role as a live-in caretaker at a mansion owned by Kwak Woo Jin, whose blunt personalities clash with hers more often than not. Once the other tenants - the optimistic Sung Won, the twins, and Chae Min moved in, we'd witness a small unlikely family gradually being formed. This might sound like a repetitive trope - but trust me, these characters could get very real and their dialogues and interactions are so poignant like reading a good piece of literature.
My favorite character is a fierce unconventional beauty, Yoon Chae Min. She's now moving from jobs to jobs living a worrisome life, but her pessimistic view of the world reminds me of myself. Her journey ended up giving me so much hope and joy!. Meanwhile, Woo Jin's troubled life also got me crying ugly tears. I can relate so much with his problem, and the way things played out at the end taught me so much.
The thing is - the writer is stylish as hell. We can see it from the art style, and from the characters' lifestyles. Eun Joo is an avid reader who enjoys Dazai Osamu and Camus. Woo Jin's definition of sad music includes Saturday Comes Slow by Massive Attack. There's more but I'll just let you experience all the subtle coolness of these folks by yourself.
Whenever I feel defeated or have a downtime from the mundane of daily life, I always come back to this comic as it always cheers me up. I can relate to the characters so much that I see them as close friends of mine.
I could never recommend this enough. If I could pay everyone to read this, I would. It would be worth every single dime spent.
have i found my new favourite short manhwa (in webtoon) that is NOT centred around romance, has college and work life as a background, and there's found family involved?
this webtoon was the definition of fresh for me. I finished it in like 2 days, albeit i had to take breaks to do other things, but man I enjoyed the ride so much. In actuality, I have been putting off this webtoon because i couldn't find the exact location of where I CAN read this, but thank god webtoon has my back.
all of the characters are so beautifully drawn, the art-style is so modern and ragged (probably because it's based of pencil sketches) and i LOVE IT! also, the colour palette and use in panelling, designs, clothing, everything looks visually pleasing to me.
this part 1 of the webtoon was SO SO GOOD, you can really feel how their bond evolved since the start of the story, we got backgorund on the side characters as well, we got to know both the male and female mc and how they bond (fr, this was just so so cute and none of it was cringy or cheesy, it warmed my heart so much) throughout the story.
The most amazing and relatable piece I've even read. Re-reading the series for the 3rd time, it always hits hard and well. All the characters are raw and honest, all the emotions feel real, and every problem is relatable to people.
Quick and enjoyable read. Some of the chapters were so hilarious. I love the twists and I'm hoping to read more of those. Would love to see more character development.
A chill, relaxing read with an equally peaceful and happy webtoon. Read this long back when I was in highschool and it's just filled with nostalgia. Totally recommend it.
I started reading it a couple years ago, but never finished it. I finally started reading it once again, and it only took me two days to finish the entire series. Definitely a favorite.
Fuuuuck, I love this so damn much! i'm in love with every character. And I adore the graphic style! For me, this is the perfect "slice of life". I just I need more of this right now but we have to wait...ughh -
Heck, I remember reading but I lost the chapter I was in... I'm going to start again but keeping in read because I know it's good and I'm going to binge-reading until the last chapter 💞
