"Woh Woh Woh" This is what I felt when I finished the book. One of the best climax set story I read in thriller genre yet.

Well, you cannot say it is a political thriller only as it is a perfect mix of drama, romance, suspense and what not. I would say it is a complete movie material.

When I selected this book it had 50+ reviews, today I can see more than 100 reviews and a majority of them were 3+. Reviews doubled in just 4 weeks which shows its popularity in readers.

Talking about the story, our main protagonist is Reeva. She got chance to work with one the famous & rich personality, Kunaal. She wanted to prove herself in the field, but at the same time, she was falling for Kunaal. Things were going like a romantic story when Reeva friend asked her to help to reveal an ongoing scam, which was relevant to thousands of lives. Reeva saw that more she unravel thing scarier they were becoming. The very thing she loved so much can become the source of fear.

Though the book comes under a political thriller, it doesn't start with a murder or political party de-thrown. Rather, the story started very casually, It too few chapters to realize that I was deeply engrossed in an entertainment mix.

400 pages long book and not a single deep in tone, not a single boring chapter. The author did this magic with help of perfect character mix. I even thought of assigning actors from Bollywood, to six main characters that dictated the plot. The book can be converted into a nice movie. I hope praise by Madhur Bhandarkar can be taken seriously by Bollywood for movie adoption.

I would like to thank Writers' Melon and Vishnu for introducing this book to me. I really like it. I am going to recommend this book to my friends for sure.

3.5/ 5 stars (still waiting for goodreads to add the 0.5 star rating feature)

Trust Me Not by Ankita Verma Datta is a socio-political thriller with a blend of romance. The story starts with the introduction of Reeva Rai, young, beautiful and intelligent girl who works for an Ad agency. Kunaal Kabi is a rich, enigmatic and an attractive guy, well known for his achievements and resourcefulness in the media industry. When Reeva meets Kunaal in a wedding function, they get attracted towards each other. Soon Reeva is moved to PR section of the company, to her surprise Kunaal gets to be her boss, and their love takes an escalating hike. So, there is another character, Nihaal who loves Reeva discreetly, thus giving a love-triangle scenario.

Coming to the main plot, there's an election going on and JBP party, one of the influential parties, almost on the verge of winning the election (due to their power within the system) gives a contract to the PR firm Reeva and Kunaal's been working with, to promote the work of the party for the upcoming elections. But that's not it, there are people who want to tarnish the image of the political party and Reeva and Kunaal must battle against them!

I don't read much political sort of thrillers, but this one's a treat! I liked the writing, overall it was well worded and compelling. Best part about the novel is that the chapters aren't too big or too small, just decent amount of pages between each chapter. Psychologically, it doesn't tire or bore the reader that way.

What I dislike about the novel is that, though it was well paced with a lot of sub-plots, there were a few which could have been omitted and it wouldn't have affected the main plot at all. For instance, the love triangle between Kunaal-Reeva-Nihaal.

Also, I was in a 'NO-NO' for the romantic scenes. (bit of a cringe)
For instance,
Just then, as she prepared to leave, Kunaal gripped her arm, with the pressure of his hand bordering on painful. He lightly pulled Reeva towards him, bringing his face dangerously close to hers. She caught a whiff of his perfume and the sexual tension in the moment sent her heart racing F1 style.

One thing that struck me while reading was that most of the characters were stereotypical. Must I say, there aren't every other politician or journalist out there who is corrupt (as we think they are). Portraying these characters as we stereotype them definitely gives a 'CLICHE ALERT'.

I conclude by saying that this novel has all the elements to adapt it into a cliche 'Bollywood masala' movie or a Hindi serial. ;)

Note : I was provided with a review copy by the author in return for an honest review!

Reading a thriller is always an exhilarating experience because it keeps one fixated on the book until the very end. This obviously depends on how good the book is. One cannot blindly assume that every thriller is going to be a smashing read. On the contrary, some thrillers just fall flat and fail to impress the reader. This wasn’t the case with Trust Me Not. This book just got better with every page I turned.

Though I knew this was a socio political thriller when I started reading it, the fact that it had a relatively normal beginning caught me off guard somewhat. However, every thriller doesn’t need to have a suspenseful beginning so that’s not really an issue for me considering the book starts getting interesting pretty early on.

BLURB:

A no-holds-barred race ensues, blood is drawn and Reeva is trapped in the eye of a political thunderstorm. If she succeeds, powerful people will have much to answer .

MY REVIEW:

Reeva is a young, and beautiful woman who works for a PR Agency and is the protagonist of the novel. She is strong, independent and represents all the rising businesswoman in the Indian corporate world.

Kunaal is also a main character in the story. He has a very warm attitude towards people in public but this is again complimented by a dark side to his personality which he keeps hidden from society.

The author manages to intricately weave these two characters along with the other side characters with the political background of the plot. The story focuses on all the activities taking place between these characters and also on how these are so well linked to one another.

The story begins with Reeva and Kunaal being introduced at a wedding. Reeva immediately feels attracted to him and Kunaal also shows some interest in her. So, yes it is a love at first sight kind of thing. Slowly the story builds and we get introduced to other characters in the story. Nihaal is Reeva's colleague and a close friend. He too harbours some feelings for Reeva so yes, we can expect a love triangle here. Though the love triangle is not the main highlight of the story, but yes, it is an essential part.

Then we are introduced to Mr.Sehgal, Reeva's boss. He transfers Reeva to another project(MVPR) and the head of that project is Kunaal. Hence, their relationship develops from there.

Another character is appointed to work for MVPR and that is Shalini. Shalini has known Kunaal in the past and she soon observes the relationship developing between Reeva and Kunaal. She is a witness to some of Kunaal's dark secrets and hence tries to warn Reeva to steer clear of him.

Now, we come to the plot. The story focuses on the relationship blooming between Reeva and Kunaal but also it has its roots in the political aspect. There is an election going on and JBP is an influential party running for it. Rishi Uttur is a very influential politician from JBP and there is a strong chance that his party is going to win. Hence, this gives rise to some conspiracies to cause their downfall. And along with that, the author has managed to give the story another angle by forming an alliance between two industrialists who need the politicians to fulfill their corrupt plans.

There are some things i just couldn't get my head around. One being the love at first sight trope and the emotionally damaged guy trope. And yes, how can we let the love triangle pass. I think there was no need for ALL of these. The story would have worked great even without any of the ones i mentioned above. Next is how cliche the characters were. Builders were like every other builder i have ever read about and so was the case with the politicians and journalists. I mean there was no diversity in characters and they were very predictable.

I was happy that Reeva didn't make any stupid decisions as a lot of protagonists tend to. Also, she turned out to be the ultimate heroin in the end. So, the ending didn't let me down even though I was expecting it to do so.

In all, the story is a mix of media, drama, suspense, murder and some dirty, very dirty politics. It is an intense read and the thing that i liked the most is how well all these angles fused and emerged as one strong tale. Also, the end is going to eliminate any doubt you have with some things (there, i saved a spoiler) that you might feel were left incomplete.

Thanks for Reading!

I loved the cover and title of this book. It's too attractive and Eye catchy. And so is the story. I truly loved it. The story is so captivating, it holds readers interest well. It's about politics, corruption, conflicts, friendship, romance, and Love. The author has beautifully plotted the story. The story hold's readers interest from the start. The characters plotted by the author is too good, Each character has it's own quality, own personality, own role. Each one added some precious things to the story. The pace of the story is also good. The tempo of the story is amazing, full of surprises, mystery, romance, love, and friendship. The story is the perfect blend of all. Corruption, politics, corporate culture, family life, friendship, each and every segment is expressed so beautifully by the author. It keeps one fixed until the very end. The end is unexpected and thrilling. I loved Reeva and Nihaal's character the most. I loved how Nihaal motivated Reeva. I also like Kunaal Kabi's personality.
Will Love win over Politics? Corruption? many such questions were on my mind.
The author used simple language which was again the cherry on the cake as the reader can easily connect with the story.

turned out way better than I expected. actually 3.5 stars.

#TrustMeNot is exactly what it promises to be that is a political thriller which keeps you on the edge till the end. It's about Reeva who works in a media agency and Kunaal who's a rich businessman. They both end up being employed by a political party to promote their work as elections are near. However, everything goes wrong as there are people who are hell bent on destroying the image of the party. The plot is very realistic and I never felt that the story dragged on as it was well paced. It had a bit of a love triangle which thankfully didn't go on for long. Reeva was a strong character who knew what she wanted and never second guessed herself. Another strong character was Nandita who's social worker and was so inspiring. Kunaal was sort of annoying. I feel like I can't say more otherwise I'll spoil the book and I don't want that. The author is experienced and it didn't feel like this was her first book. Overall, it's a pretty good novel and it definitely serves it's purpose. I'd like to thank the author for providing a copy of the book for an honest review.

“Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown” – Shakespeare

The want of power can turn any man upside down. He may reach the height of the sky. But one wrong step and he will hit the ground, hard. Yet, guilt is the only thing that will accompany him throughout the journey.

The novel ‘Trust Me Not’ by Ankita Verma Datta has such a plot, dealing with ‘Politics & Power’ as its genre and with the touch of a fierce love, this book is all a reader wants.

To pull out the plot in simple words:
It’s about a war, that happens between a political top hand and a business fat cat. In this war, knowingly or unknowingly, Reeva – the protagonist of the novel, is trapped when she falls head over heels for Kunaal, an enigmatic billionaire (as referred). Each time when Reeva strives to understand about Kunaal and to unravel the background of the job she is doing for and against, she is lost.

This, from my point of view, symbolises the cover picture of the book – Reeva getting lost in the dark ugly path; she is either trying to run away and hide or finding a way out, but whichever, she is lost. The title and the style in which it is represented may point out how Reeva seeks to be certain of something clearly but how it fades away gradually. Kunaal, embodies this characterization.

With the introduction of the character Nandita, a social worker, the circumstance around Reeva gets more byzantine. Reeva concentrates on loosening the threads around her friend to save her but actually failing to notice the web that has formed behind her, eventually. When she finally realizes everything, she is nothing but lost!!

The character justification is remarkable, with each character holding its importance. Half the characters thrive for power, while the other half help them the way out.

‘Brilliant’ is the one word I can crop up after reading this work. The hard-work of the author shadows in the quick-witted plot, which is evident through the outcome of such an eminent work.

Book Review :

* I would give this book 4.5 stars.

Trust Me Not is a political thriller written by Ankita Verma Dutta. I must admit that I have read a book of familiar scenario before which was a total disaster but this one was undoubtedly far better.

Despite of it being written on the contemporary corporate and political segment of India, what I am glad about the book is that it did not feel like one of those Bollywood movie scripts. I mean that it does have that unique element in it.

On the other hand, there were so many characters and corporate slang and terms that it made dizzy because I am a super lazy person when it comes to commercial or political information. It is just sooo boring. And if you are somewhat similar to me, then it would feel like a drag at times. I even closed the book and stopped reading it for sometime, but Trust Me, it is worth the read.

Another thing that immensely impressed me is the lucid narration of the book. Although the author has used a decent amount of vocabulary, the plot was on point without mincing any words or unnecessary extension.

Lastly, I would like to say that it has become of those books which I would surely recommend if someone ask me for some suggestions on good books by contemporary Indian authors.

Blurb : Rising corporate star Reeva Rai is offered a prestigious position in a top-notch PR agency. It is the opportunity of a lifetime. But working with Enigmatic Billionaire Kunaal Kabi was not going to be easy. Even as she develops feelings for him, she is determined to prove herself.
But when an activist friend turns to her for help with a real-estate scam, Reeva has to make a high-stakes choice. Can she retain the credibility of her prominent clients while helping hundreds save their homes? As she digs deeper to find solutions, a nefarious scheme unravels with unexpected connections. A no-holds-barred race ensues, blood is drawn and Reeva is trapped in the eye of a political thunderstorm. If she succeeds, powerful people will have much to answer.

Thank You

Trust Me Not is a debute novel of Ankita Verma Datta. This book is so good it kept me hooked till the end. It is a political thriller which keep ur engaged till the end. It is a story kf Reeva, Kunal, Nandita, Nihal, Shalani and there were few other characters which played important role in the story. Reeva works in a Media Industry, Kunal is a rich business man and connected with a political party, Nandita is a social worker and has raised her voice against the wrong happenings around her. Nihal and Shalani are the co- workers of Reeva. Every character has a back story which connects us with the character. The story has various elements like Love, Love triangle, Politics, Revenge, Friendship, Suspense, Family love etc. The story is Narrated very well and Language is excellent. Once you start reading this book you can't keep down until you finished reading it. The chapters were long. I really liked the Cover and Title. By reading this you can't say it is a first book of the author. I am looking forward to watch movie on this book. I love this kind of book This was my kind of book. Oh my my my!!!! Loved it.
I just can't tell anyone how much ll u miss if u haven't read this...
For me it's a 4.5🌟... not 5 cos I wanted more but it ended 😢... the writing, story line, the plot, characters everything was bang on for me.
Review:- The young lady Reeva Rai is gorgeous, career oriented, helpful, friendly and works in a PR agency and on the other hand the guy Kunaal Kabi is hopelessly charming, addictive and rich.  They both get attracted to each other.

When the corporate and political things starts messing up the mystery starts it's journey... when a activist frd of Reeva is digging her hands into the scam involving a residential area to find the reality the things keep on turning bitter and bitter... The political background depicted in this book looks soo real as if it's happening around you and you know about it.. how do they find a way out from this is really amazing. Truth revealed on every topic is shocking for Reeva atleast... the twists and turns to find out the reality takes a toll on them..till the end ur mind ll go on to find now what next.. the connections that the story unfolds is 😲😲... but what is going to happen and for that you to have to buy this and read it for urself.
What I liked the most in this was:- the female characters in this story were soo powerful and they had only one thing I. E do not accept what is wrong and fight for what is right.. do not get scared cos people here are mainly to scare u but remember u r STRONG.
Thanks to the author for sending me this copy to review in exchange of honest opinion.

BOOK REVIEW: TRUST ME NOT by ANKITA VERMA DATTA

TITLE: TRUST ME NOT

AUTHOR: ANKITA VERMA DATTA

PAGES:  378

PUBLISHER: JAICO BOOKS

ISBN:  978-93-86348-94-4

GENRE: CRIME, THRILLER AND MYSTERY

FIRST THOUGHT:  I couldn’t put it down. I bet you won’t be able to as well.

IF I COULD REVIEW IT IN A SINGLE LINE: This debutant writer has more features her cap then she lets on. Have you booked your copy yet?

LET MY BABBLING BEGIN!

I started this book two days back. I have been super swamped. Super. Else I would have written about it earlier. I finished it yesterday.

The cover of the book says

                ‘ A POLITICAL PUPPETMASTER

                                A DIABOLICAL SCHEME

                                                A VOLATILE LOVE AFFAIR’

Did I find everything in there?

Yes I did.

Did I like the way it was put up?

You bet I did.

The initial two chapters might seem a little dull to you, they did to me, but she picks up the tempo in the next coming chapters and she does so beautifully.  I was crying, I was smiling and I was awestruck with the unexpected end.

The story boasts two protagonists. The first is a rising corporate star Reeva Rai who has been promoted to an ace PR agency. The second is the oracular billionaire Kunaal Kabi with a bewitching persona that you immediately fall in love with. The two keep meeting in various high profile parties for the elite and are inadvertently drawn to each other.

Soon the plot thickens when an activist friend of Reeva’s finds herself in a little too much mud and Reeva is pulled into the mess. She must find a way to do both, help her friend uncover the scam while not jeopardizing the integrity of her clients.

And as she continues to delve into this, the gory details become clearer and an infernal conspiracy is brought to the forefront.

And as the plot at the back of the book says

REEVA IS TRAPPED IN A POLITICAL THUNDERSTORM.

HOW WILL SHE FAIR?

I have read too many thrillers to know when one gets out of hand and starts to put up weird out of context scenes just to stick to the genre. She doesn’t need to. Her writing does that for her. I was edgy, skeptical of every character and longing to find out what happens in the next chapter while also being dooey eyed and smiling about the beautiful scenes that have been depicted between the two leads.

The picture perfect boyfriend that Kunaal is, is every girl’s dream. But don’t let that fool you into thinking Reeva’s all life revolves around her boyfriend. Because it isn’t. SHE IS GOALS. She is a trying girlfriend who is trying to get her own foot holding. You will love her, admire her, wish her well but wouldn’t want to switch places with her mess. She isn’t a woman to take commands; she isn’t the kind of girl who is a trophy wife. She is trying to make herself known. She won’t back down. She won’t hide. She will have you proud.

I shouldn’t keep babbling about this I might just jot down the entire story *facepalm*

I love Reeva; she is one of the strongest woman characters I have been in a long time.

The end you ask?

The climax.

OH MY GOD!

I couldn’t have imagined it in a million lifetimes. So unhoped for it was. I was baffled yet enthralled till the end. One of the best endings ever.

I was there turning pages and thinking can’t this go on forever?

What? Why? This? How can this be?

And the epilogue? May I just say I wanted it to become another book. I was a little disappointed to find the epilogue was only 3 pages. I was just sitting there waiting for it to go on and on.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Ankita Verma Datta, you brilliant woman. What a masterpiece you have weaved. Thank you for bringing this into our lives.

She is one of the select few with a writing style you immediately fall in love with. I loved both her protagonists. I had to. They were amazing individuals so beautifully portrayed.

This book created Havoc inside me. Is having power so bad? Is someone’s life so easy to take from them?
This book has so many twists and gives you a insight of how politics and business world works.
The author has done great work. I like how the plot has been taken creating each character their own importance.
Importance of a Journalist and impact of it has been beautifully narrated.
Language used is simple and easy to understand. I like how every chapter is been given importance and has been printed black.
The romantic touch to it is like feather to the cap.
But epilogue I wanted some more of it.
What I loved in this book?
Theme: Fixer theme the way suspense has created is wow. Today ‘s media working conditions has been commendably described.
Quotes:-
“I think today, everything comes with a price tag, even things which shouldn’t , including happiness and peace of mind.”
“ There.... a smile looks a lot better on you than me.”
“Media after all runs on TRP’s. Dog biting a man is not a news, but man biting dog, definitely is.”
“I don’t understand why you’re so hell bent on boarding a bus that has no brakes.”
“Chances are given only if one’s willing to take them.”
“ At times of change, we need to focus all our energy not on fighting the old but on building the new. And that’s what I’m doing.”
Story: The way it goes I loved it. Author has made sure us to see what she wanted to show.
Characters: Nikhil I just loved the way he is, everything about his character (i wish he was for real). Nandita the selfless person yet so innocent. And we want politicians like Uttur.
What I did not like?
I felt it was dragged and bit boring while reading about Jaiswal and Thapar.
Verdict: I would definitely recommend this book to all thriller, mystery and politics lover. This book is definitely a yes! For me. I enjoyed reading it.

Reeva Rai is a twenty seven year old professional woman who works for a PR firm in Mumbai. Like every other parent , Mrs Rai is always behind Reeva to meet some eligible boys for an alliance. In one such incident , Reeva meets Kunaal Kabi , a rich billionaire who is known for his resourceful approach in the top notch political parties. They both instantly click and the chemistry brews but Kunaal has some hidden secrets buried inside him.
Reeva is promoted as Assistant Vice President of her firm and again she encounters Kunaal , who happens to be the Vice President.

Reeva's firm bags a big contract of a political firm for the upcoming elections. JBP is the leading party and is set to win the elections but something is brewing to bring them down.

I was unsure in the beginning whether this is a political thriller , a love story or a tale of corruption but as the story unfolds this book turned out to be a perfect blend of all. The characters are perfectly portrayed and each one has a role that they have defined to perfection. The writing is lucid and takes it's own time to dwell under your skin.

The only thing that disturbed me was the length of the book. 400 pages to read a tedious task no matter how gripping the plot is.

Pick this one up if you are looking for a blend of politics , corruption and love.

I am sure that the author Ankita Verma is an enormous observer, this masterpiece is undoubtedly a creation of a keen observant mind.
She has described every scene meticulously, every line is decorated with captivating vocabulary.
She has made every scene of her imagination much more beautiful than it may be in real only by her writing.

The story is a socio-political thriller with an extremely complicated love story, and the characters are baked enough face some inevitable and dreadful incidents.

Reeva Rai is a rising corporate star, while having a lot of responsibilities she has made her life quite difficult by falling in love with a mysterious billionaire Kunaal Kabi, now her journey is not going to be so easy after carrying a burden of emotions for whom she is working.

There are some other characters like,
Nihaal, Reeva's colleague was a brilliant interpreter from the beginning , his sagacious attitude fascinated me as a reader.

A social activist Nandita with an altruistic heart in this harsh and unfair world, is ready to face her life fearlessly.

Arunabh, who is extremely ambitious and a celebrated journalist who can make or break anyone's career.

Shalini, Reeva's another colleague who hated kunaal bcz of an unfortunate past, have a cold behaviour yet she is diligent at her work.

And there are so many of other characters going on with either a purpose or drawn undeliberately into this drama of political and corporate world .

As the story went ahead, the characters was encountering too much of conflicts, some characters were confroting deluge of controversy.
The fear of becoming homeless in the heart of hunders of poors bcz of a ruthless real estate wolf.
But the intellect of characters is the most amusing thing in the whole story. In the 2nd half I became impatient as a reader, after some incidents a targeted innocent person has been murdered. And the race for answers and the anger of public is going on, as the media has the privilege of proving anything without evidence.
The climax gave me goosebumps, as it went beyond my expectations.
As a reader, I remained hooked in this page turner and thoroughly enjoyed it till the last page, as there are surprises even in the epilogue. Go and grab your copy now.

This type of genre is my first experience, and I enjoyed the book till the last page. Yup, some few minor grammar mistakes are there, but overall we can ignore that part for sure. It’s a political romance thriller that revolves around these three main characters Kunal, Reeva, and Nihaal. It’s a fitting plot with innumerable motivating angles. The typescript in the story is conventional in personality, but nowhere the biographer has rushed to veneer the plot.
The story starts with little bit slow and later it comes to the normal pace. Reeva is transferred as AVP for a new project headed by Kunaal. The romance between them is a foreseeable day by day. Conversely, their nature of the job in the work field takes them to the junctions of the political world. The innumerable features of this world are astonishing, apprehensive, and fatal. They gain to quantity up and cabaret, it’s horrible faces across. Reeva has to adhere to her feelings for Kunal remark as she retrieves herself in the center of an honest estate rip-off which has the capability to hurt incredibly prominent people. Will Reeva capable to extract it off? Is she again being capable of taking a chance to trust once again? To know more about, I would recommend thriller reader, just go through it.

Once the story starts we get introduced to Reeva Rai - The Protagonist. It is easy for the reader to step into her shoes. First few chapters will be like welcoming us to the plot and characters will be up one by one in each chapter. Once done with the intro, the plot tightens up ...
.
.
After then, The happenings at the Creative ADZone & at the political sides will knit the knots around Reeva Rai... Most of the happenings & chapters will give you a relatable shade & an emotion to express/carryover ..
.
.
Being in the field, Ankita delivered a perfect pitch with the handling by a corporate star, the mindset of a political puppet-master, the sketch of Enigmatic Billionaire, the struggle of an activist and finally the flow of volatile love thread .. 😉😉😉
.
.
Adding a potential mystery (The Fixer) along with these makes us hooked till the last page ..
.
.
Chapters having Arunabh Roy will defnitely have HIS voice running at the back & he exposes even in fiction too !!! THE NATION WANTS TO KNOW 😜😜😜
.
.
Despite everything, climax decides the verdict .. TRUST ME the thread with many knots unwinds in an unexpected way ..😮😮😍😍 .
.
Verdict :- With hard hitting realities, Ankita delivered more than a fiction. Thank You 😊
Rating : 4.25/5

PS:- This is a stunning debut for Ankita, 😇😇 Hope Reeva Rai series starts soon .. 😝😝

You don't realise what your missing until you read a book that fills up the void so meticulously that you don't even realise anything was missing.Characterisation of Reeva went a bit down hill for me. It's like as the book progressed her character degressed. I love how the author picked up her character.
Reeva is not at all the girl I pictured at the beginning of the book. Sorry but she's a bit whiny. The case was bound to be a fail attempt as soon as she got involved with Kabi.

The romance was off at times. Parts did excite me to get to know them together but overall, nope. Huh ?! You attempted to start something then you push him away, you get together, he leaves, you hate him. Later he wants to marry you just after maybe months of casual office meets ? Woah no boi I don't ship them.

The politics part is totally on point. With dark games played, backfiring, media involvement. This book keeps hold of your heart and mind. It indulges you so well. Plus the lines blurring between politics and business. That's wonderfully handled. But the romance portion put a damper on it's potential, at least for me. I just really love how this book delivers such scandalous battlefights between the high and mighties and the common man.

Pg. 260
I officially hate Kunaal Kabi, like you can't blame that they didn't have an inkling of what was to come.

Do not down talk to Nihaal. I just got momma bear over Nihaal, his character is most genuine and geniously portrayed.

I love how strong and potentially valuable Nandita as a character is throughout the book. She is a totally strong fighter. But sometimes fear can grip you at the most unexpected times. Yet she didn't stop. I really appreciate Nihaal as friend for Reeva, even after loving her for so long, he gave up on being more just to keep their friendship. He's also a round character, much mature in times of crises. I would have loved to read more about Shalini. The Moments when Reeva and Nandita worked together, were my favourite.

The ending is immensely packed with shocking revelations. Like totally mind blowing.

Thapar, kudos to the villainous mind. That's how villains work. Trully and epically evil. His over-ambitiousness did bring him down though.

I'd always look forward to more books from Ankita Verma Datta. Thanks a lot for a wonderful book.

I'll always trust the magic of new beginnings 😃

Isn't that greedy and corrupted persons uses others innocence to make them more wealthier. Yeah, we sees this kind of things happens daily in various way. Such a story is "Trust Me Not" by Ankita Verma Dutta.

Story revolves around Reeva Rai who works for a PR agency as Assistant Vice President and she fall for Kunnal kabi president of her company where she also have got a silent admirer Nihaal. While the story gets moving author gets revealing each character. Nandita is friend of reeva she is a social activist while reeva helping her to get justice she herself felt of being trapped in mid of scams by big political bullies. From here each character shows their shadowed face. How did reeva comes of those traps? Who she wants to trust? Will she finds out what's truly happenings read the story fully to find out.

Story is really gripping in a way of unpredictable. It made me to engaged throughout, fixer is one character I can't predict till last. Characterization was perfect and narration is lucid with simple language and vocabularies.

Story is blended of romance, politics, thriller and mystery. A complete package for a movie to hook up. It also revealed the other side of politics, corruptions their internal conflictions. How external parties play major role during elections. Looting money in different ways everything made clear in novel.

Overall, Trust Me Not is a well worthy read with composure of all intresting segments a political thriller needs from unexpected twists to unpredictable plot.

The book has everything in it, Nihaal’s srcastic humour, Kunaal’s sensual personality, Shalini’s personal grudges and professional discipline, Kinsy’s taste for fashion, Nandita’s nobleness, Politician’s dirt play and Reeva’s braveheart! The book will demand your immediate attention and will not allow to put it down until you complete it. Though the length can bother the readers who want crisp and thrill in a mug.

Politics make strange bedfellows. And it gets dirtier if the person you love is into a political game so big, you can’t fathom whether to love or hate him.

Trust me… I thought it was the same old thing. Some situations, some love, one story. After reading hell lot of books, one begins to become skeptical about any book in the general fiction category. Though when the author, Ankita Verma Datta told me that it was a heady mix of politics and love… I could conjure the movie “Rajneeti” in my mind. However, the forever hopeful that I am, I decided to read the book “Trust Me Not” published by Jaico. And what did the book have?

All elements of surprise, intrigue and thrill all sewn around love and relationships – a total upheaval of emotions and yet so firm in story line. The novel is engaging, for Ankita builds up the characterization of the protagonist’s love boy in grey shades. What happens to him and whether their love stands the test of time, all this is carried till the end without stretching unnecessarily. That’s the good point of this book.

One interesting aspect is the coming together of love and attraction and its unspecified boundaries. Ankita has given Reeva (protagonist) many occasions in the story to prove the point that though one can be attracted to two men – sometimes one can’t explain why a woman chooses one over the other despite knowing that she would be hurt in the process. A lot of women actually undergo this and thankfully Ankita hasn’t got into justifying Reeva’s choices which would have bored me as a reader especially. Sometimes, its good to leave somethings unsaid.

Without delving more details, I would say do read this book. It isn’t a very hardwired political story, so I am sure that you will enjoy reading it.

This book has from the very first page reminded me of my forever favourite author John Grisham. Especially the style of shifting chapter after chapter the POV(Point Of View) between different characters that too with utmost clarity. POV basically refers to the person who is narrating the story at that point of time.

After all these YA books I consumed this summer I have to say that this political + corporate thriller kept me hooked from the very beginning

This book shows a hard corporate life , the mingling between colleagues , formation of friendship along with a constant mingling of a political fiasco on the borderline of eruption.

This book revolves around Reeva Rai who has a prestigious position in a top notch PR agency and how she navigates her work life which is full of turmoil due to the ever present background of two parties in a constant war on who is going to run the state of Maharashtra. It also navigates around her love life where in the beginning she is confused between two guys as we always are between our head and our heart 😏😍. Humorously the book has clearly pointed out that more than the politicians its the big business houses which keep these political parties in place.

The book is unpredictable at every point. And you will be contemplating at every point what will happen next. It surely reminds me of all the law thrillers written by John Grisham I fed myself with through all these years.

The book has an impeccable vocabulary present. Its easy to read. The writings very smooth. The characters have been developed properly. And I really like how the writer has at the same time shown backward and forward Indian parents because that’s the reality , the difference.

I am actually really happy that I got a chance to read this book. I was very apprehensive to pick it up (I have no idea why) but I have been hooked from the moment I started ( excerpt when i keep it down to watch cute baby videos on Instagram 😉😅 )

“What was the emotions that set apart the possibilities of loving someone and being in love with someone ? “

The story revolves around the political world and what power media beholds in our world.

Reeva Rai, a rising corporate star is offered a prestigious position in a top PR agency. It is an opportunity of a lifetime for her. But she develops feelings for "the most wanted groom for every girl - Kunaal Kabi". Apart from millions in banks, he has handsome looks and charm which can make anyone fall for him. Fate made both of them work together and for Reeva it became a challenge to prove herself worthy enough.

As the two souls got together, destiny had other plans. An activist turned to Reeva for helping her with a real estate scam and there she has to make some "high stake choices". What will be her choice?

As Reeva tries to find a solution, she unfolds many mysteries and their connections. She got trapped in the "political world".

The story provides the image that how greed can turn so called "rich" oppress the "poor" for their own profit forgetting all morals. The political scenario of the country is very well portrayed.

I think Ankita Verma Datta just rocked with this novel. We can hope that in the coming years she gives us such masterpieces to us.

If you are searching for a book which has "a combo of thriller and an intense love affair" then go for it immediately. It's a must in your bookshelg.

Thank you Bookfever for providing me this book to read.

I was provided with a free copy of this book by Writers Melon [dot] com in exchange for an honest review.

Have you ever found a story so relating to the current reality of the country that you wonder if the author has described a real figure in the place of a fictional one, instead? Trust Me Not by Ankita Verma Datta was one such book for me.

Throughout the book, there was politics, there was drama, there was romance (and a love triangle), each in abundance that it did nothing to me but push me deeper and deeper within the book. I wanted to explore each and every of its curve and crevice. I wanted to open every closed door. I wanted to turn every upturned rock.

Revolving around three major issues — Politics, Drama and Romance, this book had everything it needs to be the next best seller. There is nothing I can say less than that.

Initially, the story revolved around Reeva and her life as a twenty-seven-year-old single woman living with her parents. The kind where the mother is constantly harassing the girl to get married or else she’ll either die single or have to marry some forty-year-old man. A typical Indian household. Entrapped in her mother’s blackmailing, she is also forced to attend a wedding despite her busy schedule. Which is okay, because she meets the renowned Kunaal Kabi there.

The romance of the book starts then and there. But the actual thrill of it all begins later, when JBP (one of the leading political parties) comes to the advertising company Reeva works in for political campaign. And what a story that is! The thrill and twists one feels at each and every turn. And the biggest twist, or rather revelation that comes out at the very end. Well, yes. That’s the best of it.

I’ll start by stating the pros of this book, or rather, the things that I really loved about it:

1. I loved the character of Nihaal. (He was Reeva’s colleague, and someone deeply in love with her. Whatever he spoke was so beautiful and up to the point. But maybe it was his care-free and I-don’t-care-what-the-world-thinks and I-know-what-I’m-doing-is-great and I-can-stand-on-my-own-despite-dad’s-money attracted was what attracted me to him in the first place.)
2. I also loved the cover. Although not at a single point do I see any of the lead characters running around in a dark alley to unravel secrets, I still loved it for its beauty.
3. The love affair, of course. Who wouldn’t have loved the affair between the world-famous CEO Kunaal Kabi and the not-so-popular, Reeva Rai?
4. The suspense and thrill. In respect to the suspense and thrill of the story line, it was one of the best I had read so far. Every aspect of the story (as far as the suspense and the twists are concerned) were beautiful and enchanting. I really enjoyed reading all of it.
5. And lastly, the ending twist. Now about that, you will have to read and find out. But let me warn you, it was one of the best endings I’ve read ever and if you’re left craving for more, then don’t blame me. *winks*

Now to the few things that I didn’t like. Here’s a glimpse:

1. I found the characters a little too stereotypical. I mean, not every politician is corrupt the way most of them are. Then again, if Kunaal Kabi is a CEO then he has to be hot and charming and with a dark past (or in this case, present.) See, the thing about Kabi was that this character very, very closely resembled Christian Grey from the Fifty Shades trilogy by E.L. James. There were a few incidents that signified that his inspiration was taken from there as well. But I guess, one can promise it wasn’t copied because well, this novel was a clean novel that anyone can read.
2. Another thing that bothered me was that a lot of different point-of-views worked at the same time. At some points, I (as a reader) wasn’t sure which character knew what and which character didn’t know it. That is something that really bothered me, but when I looked at the story-line as a whole, I tended to ignore it.
3. The love triangle wasn’t necessary. I believe it was merely added to add a drama element to it, because I hardly doubt it was needed at all. The story would have been the same without it.
4. And finally, everything in Reeva and Kunaal’s love story happened so fast that I just couldn’t believe it. What a friend of mine suggested was that maybe the author was busy building the main plot and only realized about the love story and the timeline of the whole book at the last moment.
I mean, I adjusted to it okay-ish, although it did bother me but I wonder what others will say.
For example, they haven’t even properly made their relationship official (or even properly started it, for that matter)and they’re already engaged. The next day they decide for a marriage date six months later. They never even properly fell in love with each other. They just, sort of, got attracted.

So, yeah, these were the things that bothered me. Of course, one can notice that the pros outrun the cons, so that’s a good thing. Other than that, there is two more things that I can neither put as a pro nor a con. And here they are:

1. There were far too many of point-of-views in the novel. I know that some people love it. And I’m not against such a thing, but I found it rather uninteresting. I just figured that it should be out there for anyone who decides to read it.
2. And finally the name business. Because the elder citizens were treated as well, elder citizens, they were often given salutations like Mrs. Rai, Mr. Mehta, Mrs. Kabi, etc. I found that as something that didn’t help me connect to them. As in, Reeva won’t call her mother Mrs. Rai. Or it could be just as Reeva’s mother, etc. But that’s totally my view.

Overall though, the book was mind-blowing and left me craving for more, the ending being the best. And I just hope that against all odds, the author would decide to write a sequel to this beautiful story because well, I can just tell there’s more to Reeva and Kunaal’s story than how it ended. [You’ll know it when you read it.]

Trust is a fragile emotion and its feebleness could be felt when a thread of it makes or breaks a relationship. Trust is not built up overnight, it takes times to put your faith in someone and believe him/her with patience. Love is all about entrusting the other person with your invaluable faith believing that it would never be trampled by him/her. It is like putting your life into someone while you bare your soul to them expecting that it will be guarded well.

A thriller wrapped in multiple hues of human emotions, Trust Me Not, is a wonderful treat to feast upon. No doubt that once you get hold of the book, you'll be moving as the plotline speeds off. The underlining element of the novel is Trust which justifies the title though, a better one could have been chosen. The cover is unmistakably amazing. The first time I held the book in my hand, I could sense the mysterious vibes emanating from it. The cover is appealing and totally in tandem with what the book is about to unravel as you flip through the pages.

The subtle narrative has political fiascos, high-level corruption prevalent in the current scenario, political gimmicks, blood, the negative role played by wrong use of media, the nefarious world of the Construction industry, murky election scenario where one tries to pull the other and uses all possible ugly means to accomplish his goals. It also contains love, its underlying principle, an unbridled passion, an unrelenting desire to stand by your friends, courage, audacity to look straight in the eyes of challenges, and predicaments one has to face while making inevitable choices! The book also highlights the vital position media houses have in forming the public opinions. They can actually create or rupture the image of a person in power. Their power is insurmountable. And with power, they have a responsibility as well. As they are accountable to the common men, they should be extremely cautious and mindful of what they serve to the audience!

The intertwined lives of Reeva, Kunaal, Nihaal, Shalini, Nandita, The business partners J & T, Politician Uttur run through the book and give you moments of bewilderment as the well-paced book moves forward. My favorite character from the book is that of Reeva who is a lady of strong character and gentle demeanor. Her dedication towards her work is inspiring and she proves that she isn't an easy prey. Her metallic mettle speaks a lot about her and the level-headed lady just exhibits impeccable prudence when it comes to choosing between her head and heart. She is not overwhelmed by emotions. In fact, she makes a way out of the maze with a pleasing grace.

The book kept me at the edge of my seat, literally! Thriller has always been my favorite and so, the book turned out to be a delightful read. It is properly written and each sequence has been carefully arranged. The character development and the flow of thought are also good. The fact that the stories running parallel to each other never overlap makes it a fantastic read. The author managed the subplots really well. Moreover, the dark world of political and industrial conspiracies has been brought alive with a riveting narration.

Kudos to the author for this fantastic book. I would recommend it to everyone out there because it is not just another day when something as good as this rules your day!

"Every single choice you make defines you for the rest of your life. Many choices come to you. The question is whether you're able to select the right one for yourself. Finally, all that matters is following your heart."

The story starts with the introduction of Reeva Rai, young, beautiful and intelligent girl who works for an Ad agency  and is the protagonist of the novel. She is strong, independent and represents all the rising businesswoman in the Indian corporate world. On the other hand, Kunaal Kabi, the man in lead is a rich, enigmatic and an attractive guy, well known for his achievements and resourcefulness in the media industry.

When Reeva meets Kunaal in a wedding function, they get attracted towards each other instantly. But after that meeting they don't stay in touch with each other. While Reeva was still trying to move on from Kunaal's hangover, she meets him again but as her boss of  the MVPR team. She tries not to be attracted towards him again and maintains professional relationship with him. On the other hand, Nihaal, her colleague is also in love with Reeva which starts a love triangle in the story. Also the entry of Shalini creates an air of mystery around the characters of her and Kunaal.  Nandita,a social worker and Reeva's friend is working against an order of the upcoming demolishment of  an apartment complex. All these characters are interlinked to each other.

Further the story focuses on some corrupted practices taking place in the politics by some influential people. There is an election going on and JBP is an influential party running for it. Rishi Uttur is a very influential politician from JBP and there is a strong chance that his party is going to win. Hence, this gives rise to some conspiracies to cause their downfall. There is a something big taking place behind the veils of politics. Also when Nandita starts receives threats to back off, it rings warning  bell in Reeva’s mind. Every new chapter leads to a new mystery.

"At times of change, we need to focus all our energy not on fighting the old but on building the new."

The story focuses on all the activities taking place between these characters and also on how these are so well linked to one another. The book is fast paced and will keep you hooked till the very end. It has romance, suspense, drama and as well as talks about the corruption in the current world .The characters are perfectly portrayed and each one has a role that they have defined to perfection. The language is easy and understandable and the plot is intriguing.

Pick this one up if you are looking for a blend of politics , corruption and love.

TRUST ME NOT
Author: Ankita Verma Datta

Ratings: 4/5
From the day I started taking interest in books, thrillers have always topped my chart. From the first line to the last, selected thrillers ensure to not just keep you engaged but also crave for what’s going to happen next. If you have been in a committed relationship with thrillers, then you would also agree that thrillers give you some serious adrenaline rush as well as give you some astonishing scream moments. I am yet to categorize this amazing book into a single genre for it has a mixture of everything. You have the perfect combo of romance, thriller, political whirlwinds and a lot more. Here is a little brusque of the story.
Rising corporate star Reeva Rai is offered a prestigious position in a top-notch PR agency.

Characters and plot setting are the prominent elements for a successful thriller. In this book, the author has refrained from entangling the storyline and has given each character precise attention. The story built up is apt as you go on a thrilling roller coaster ride with Reeva and her story. The book aptly highlights varied human emotions like love, hate, animosity, vengeance, friendship and so on. This book got more and more intriguing with the turn of each page. To avoid unwanted spoilers all I would say is that the story has multitudinous angles all compelling you to question in the end say, “What’s next?”

It shows how the life of the female protagonist turn upside down for once when she decides to change her tracks. Some characters have a serious dark side adding up to the spice quotient. They rightly say that the lust for power is unending. With Reeva on the chase finding answers while imaginatively being a part of the story is what Trust me Not all about. Christmas is just a few days away so be your own Secret Santa and let this book give you some thrilling company.

Thrillers have always been my “all- time” favorite. When I received this book, the cover made me go woah and then the description was an added bonus to my excitement. I started reading the book at once and was really happy. Although, I was a little unsure in the beginning about its genre, whether it is a political thriller, a love story or a tale of corruption as the story unfolds this book turned out to be a perfect blend of all. The way the author, Ankita Verma Datta has combined all the mentioned genres together, one can surely say that she is an amazing writer.

The characterization of each individual has been done very thoughtfully. The three characters, Reeva, Kunal and Nandita, the way the story revolves around these three with the added inputs of other characters, the blend has been done beautifully. They are relatable characters, they have been developed nicely and uniquely. The story is set up in contemporary Indian society with characters ranging from mass media, politics, real estate, journalism and pretty much every front which interest Indian reader. The writing style is simple and the usage of lucid language makes it all the more easy to read the book. Simplicity and the strong storyline was a huge bonus for me. The book cover is again a plus point. The cover image is relatable, once you start reading the book you will understand.

The only thing which bugged me a little was the predictable ending. Once you start reading it, you will kinda guess the climax, although, the twist towards the end makes the book more exciting. I would honestly say that I have never read such a mature novel by a debut author and would truly advise everyone to try this book. It is a fast-paced, thrilling and exciting book making it difficult to put it down. A must read!

My first utmost thought after finishing off the book is ” THIS BOOK IS SO SO PROFESSIONAL AND RICH IN ETHICAL WELL BEING”

Characters were just SPELLBOUND,UNIQUE and SMART.

Narration was unusual ,It was like the salt in a dish. It was at the right proposition and was really YUMMY TO READ.

Romance was way more less than expected but still it didn’t hold back the charm of the romance and had its own way.

After a long time I am reading a book with boy-girl friendship(Nihaal and Reeva) which was beautifully put on throughout the book.

Political manifesto was organized and handled so effectively that I thought I am actually seeing a real political meet while reading those. With the blurb I was expecting a full fledged political affair but as pages moved on it totally turned out to be good thriller. There was a surprise element at every chapter, where it could be small or big.

Well all women characters in this book are independent and bold. They were emotionally made weak but still they rose up quickly. There were dirty politics going on all around the story and author didn’t even touch the area of foul language at any page. That’s why I said this is so rich in vocabulary and narration. The end was unpredictable and edgy towards the finish. This book had its foot on all the genre and made it to be an interesting read.

Overall “Trust me not”is a fast paced political affair with ample of twist and doubts which grips the story with the rigid plot and fantabulous narration.

Trust me not is a romance cum political thriller which is one of a kind .

The story revolves around Reeva, the protagonist, who is already a rising corporate star. The planets further favour her and she is offered a handsome position in a PR agency. Her life gets a new flavour when she meets her head, Kunaal, and falls for him. Then later her another colleague enters and makes it a perfect love triangle. But the story takes a major turn when Reeva's friend ask for help.
Will she be able to help her friend ?
Will she be able to balance the newly fetched offer and her life ?

Grab the book to know more.

The cover of the book is beautiful and the title is intriguing. They both perfectly compliment each other . The story is fast paced and the language is quite simple . The narration is also good . The suspense element is definitely going to keep you glued till the end . I also liked the fact that how smartly the author has incorporated the worst reality of today's India , that is corruption. Also the climax will definitely be a surprising element for all the readers.

If you are a thriller lover , then you must pick this book .Overall a nice and entertaining read.
