No-one Ever Has Sex on Christmas Day

Rate this book
Don’t you always plan the perfect Christmas?
Don’t you always think it will be the best one ever?
And doesn’t something – usually one of your loved ones – always come along and screw it up?

Katy’s been spending too much time in the office and not enough time with her family so she wants it all: snow (fake or real), the Michael Bublé Christmas album, whatever it takes.

There’s only one thing missing as far as her husband Ben is concerned: another baby to complete their family. Katy isn’t so sure…

Ben may be playing the role of Master Elf in the pre-school nativity but he is struggling to master his own family life. With romantically-challenged friends, an ex who refuses to go away and Katy's mum's 64-year-old toy boy thrown into the mix, Christmas looks like it could be going off the rails… Never mind family planning, can Katy and Ben even plan to make it to the end of Christmas Day?

No-one Ever Has Sex on Christmas Day by Tracy Bloom seems to be a part of a series that includes the books, No-One Ever Has Sex On A Tuesday and No-One Ever Has Sex in the Suburbs even though it wasn't advertised as such. All of the books seem to feature the same characters though and be a continuation of their stories from those previous books which I haven't read myself. And while this story may have made a bit more sense with the background information from the other books it was still understandable on it's own.

In this book it's just before Christmas time when we pick up Ben and Katy's lives with Ben having given up his job to be a stay at home dad who is excited for Christmas and his only wish for a present being another baby. Katy in the meantime is a working career driven woman with an amazing opportunity coming her way that needs to decide what she'd want more, a promotion or another baby.

Along with Ben and Katy there are so many other characters in the book that it sometimes became hard to keep track. Matthew is Katy's ex with whom she was with before her marriage to Ben but now Matthew is married too with several kids and a wife about to give birth yet again who has gone a little over the top with her pregnancy hormones. There's also even a character named Braindead who has his own relationships woes, along with the Katy's mother wanting to bring her new "toy boy" to stay for Christmas and so the book goes on and on...

I'd have to say what first comes to mind if I were asked to describe No-one Ever Has Sex on Christmas Day....it's a hot mess! But as bad as that may sound it's a hilarious hot mess from start to finish. I was just beginning to read this book and found myself laughing out loud and some of the opening pages and knew that no matter where the story went that in the end I'd like this to some degree. I'm happy to say now that when finished there were laugh out loud moments all throughout and it's worth the read just for the giggles. It probably would have been better to know it was part of a bigger story but in the end I'm still glad I picked this one up just for the chuckles.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

While not laugh-out-loud hilarious, this is cute, fun, and humorous. The premise is that Katy is successful at her job, so she’s the primary breadwinner. Her husband, Ben, took off work to care for their daughter, and now works at their daughter’s school. Ben would like to try for another child, and because Katy is 40, there is no time to wait. It’s kind of a classic situation where a woman has to decide if getting pregnant is going to harm her career choices.

Ben is going nuts for Christmas because this is the first year they have a home to decorate.

This was such a fun novel I downloaded the first two books in the series that feature Katy and Ben.

This was one of the funniest books I’ve read in awhile, there was some seriously hilarious moments that had me dying! Think slap happy in terms of style and over the top comedy and that’s the type of read this was. If you’re looking for a different kind of Christmas book, this would be absolutely perfect, while the humor was my favorite part there are still some heartwarming scenes and a little romance as well.

This is the third book in a series but I started with this one and had absolutely no problem catching up quickly. It seems Katy and Ben have had their fair share of issues in the past but they’ve managed to stick together and are happily married with a daughter, Millie. After being introduced to their circle of friends and family I can see why they’ve found themselves in some awkward situations, but man do they make for some amazingly fun scenes. Katy’s mom really cracked me up as did Ben’s best friend, Braindead. Yes, Braindead but it is a nickname but one that everyone uses freely and if you’ve read any of these books you’ll understand why! This was full of an eccentric, quirky cast that just completely stole my heart.

This had a sassy edge that I loved, tons of sarcasm and slightly inappropriate humor that really made me giggle. I know I’ve said this probably too many times already but this really was a hysterical read, I doubt anyone could read it and NOT find it funny!

Oh guys, it was so great to be back with Katy and Ben and the chaos that surrounds them! This book was Tracy Bloom at her best and I raced through this story, not wanting it to end - yes, this is this kind of a book that you want to finish, and at the same time you don't want to finish because it's that good. I admit, the last few books by this author seemed to lack in her characteristic sparkle and brilliant, sharp sense of humour but I am incredibly happy to report sir, yes sir that "No - One Ever Has Sex on Christmas Day" is filled with everything that I have expected from Tracy Bloom and even more.

This is the third book in the No - One Ever Has Sex series, following Ben and Katy, but what I so adored in this book is that, next to Katy and Ben's story, there are tons about Braindead, Alison, Matthew and his friend Ian. Sure, this is mostly about Katy and Ben but the other stories also takes up much room and this is just brilliant, guys - so hilarious and so entertaining, and it was so great to see that all the characters didn't change, they were just as I left them last time - I absolutely loved it.
I felt immediately at home when I started reading this book. It was great to be back, and I didn't even need any reminders or retrospections. Ben and Braindead's antics are brilliant, and the scene when they told Katy about their Christmas tree shopping was absolutely hilarious - just like many others. Then there are some tricky situations for Katy, there is not only THE job offer, but she's also hassled by her mother and her new toy boy, and there is also this thing that Ben wants from her, and moreover, Ben gets two new pupils at pre - school who turn out to be the children of... You probably guessed who are the parents but if not then just go and treat yourself to this brilliant book. And this all was written in the best possible way, the situations were so relatable and so easy to imagine, I am sure that putting inflatable Rudolf in the garden happens in many houses around the world around Christmas time, right? Also, all the dilemmas, troubles and problems were so brilliantly written - it is really hard to put into words how great this was, so really, just read it for yourself and thank me later for recommendation.

"No - One Ever Has Sex on Christmas Day" was a hilarious and fast - paced read and I found myself laughing my head of so often! It was so funny and feel - good, and it would be perfect to turn into a film, and if I'm saying this it means really something, as I don't watch films, and I'd be the first in the virtual queue for this one. The dialogues were brilliant and the scenes were written in such a way that you could easily picture them in your mind, the characters and their body - language and it made the reading such a pleasure.
It was a feel good Christmassy story, already with a festive spirit to it and some great ideas for the next Nativity, with plenty scenes that made me laugh out loud. It was full of embarrassing situations, cringe-y text messages and exceptional proposal, and I knew that I'm going to like it but I didn't have any idea how much - it has fulfilled all of my expectations. It was a great story about families and friendship and I am already looking forward towards a new Tracy Bloom's book. Highly recommended!

This is the third book in the No-One Ever Has Sex series. Having not read the others, personally in areas I did feel I was missing out on not knowing the characters backgrounds more so would recommend reading them in order. It certainly made me want to go back and read the others as it sounds like i’ve been missing out on some great books.

Christmas is a stressful time at the best of times but for Katy and Ben it’s even more so. For one Katy’s mum has invited herself and her new boyfriend to come and stay and Katy has a fabulous job opportunity to shoot off to Australia for a week just before Christmas!

Katy’s mum wound me up never mind poor Katy. I wanted to tell her to go elsewhere and leave them to have time for themselves. Her demands and expectations just riled me the further into the story I got. I half expected a murder when she turned up but that’s the crime lover in me. How Katy keeps her cool with her I have no idea.

There are quite a few characters to meet and get to know. It felt like a busy house hold where people are constantly coming and going. It made Katy’s and Ben’s life seem even more manic. I loved Ben’s character, the stay at home husband that does some part time work at the local school. The nativity that he is organising was just brilliant and really brought the festive feel to the story.

Overall this is a very light hearted read but it does give us an insight into the daily struggles of one family’s lives. I did enjoy how the tables are turned and Katy is the main bread winner with Ben taking on what most people assume is the woman’s role. It certainly made an interesting story line for the aspect of wanting another baby as it changes everything.

No-One Ever Has Sex At Christmas was an enjoyable and fun read. It brings to life the stresses of family and life at the festive time of the year. The perfect read in the run up to Christmas or to even give as a present.

My thanks to Bookouture and Netgalley for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

The third novel in No-one Ever Has Sex series from Tracy Bloom, No-one Ever Has Sex on Christmas Day is a laugh out loud book about a small circle of adults and the odd way life brings people together. Though it is from a series, I felt it could be read as a standalone as I have not read the other books in the series previously. We follow Katy and Ben as they navigate their first holiday season settled in a new home with the pressure of family, work, and the future piling on them. Their friend Braindead brings the constant laughs, and some well-timed insight, as the two struggle with the decisions ahead of them. There's also Matthew and Alison, preparing for their next child, dealing with Alison's demands as a perfectionist, and helping, or hurting, Matthew's friend Ian in his quest for love.

"I mean, it's so not sexy. Kids up at the crack of dawn, hands up turkey's backside before breakfast, stomachs bloated by too much food and alcohol, exhaustion from weeks of celebrating."

I really enjoyed No-one Ever Has Sex on Christmas Day for one big reason, the characters are all realistic. They are flawed, they are curious, then are navigating a world that, like real life, comes with bumps, changes, and incredible opportunities. We get annoyed with our parents and our spouses, we miss some of our kid's moments and we constantly strive to be better in everything. Katy, Ben, Braindead, Matthew, Alison, and Ian all live in the same town, but they're acquaintances at best, their pasts having brought them together once that left things a bit on the awkward side. The book itself switches from character to character, never focusing on a single household for long, not until their lives start to bring them together again.

"This was turning out to be maybe not the most cosmopolitan but certainly the best Christmas he ever had."

I love just how much humor was in this book, Tracy Bloom writes with so much spirit and she knows how to make you laugh. It's lighthearted all while proving that a book doesn't have to follow the standard familial layout of career, children, and friendship. It is funny, it has moments of shock, and it even has a stay-at-home dad with an overworked wife. I appreciated that it was stereotypical, that friendship, romance, and sex carried this story forward, bringing some depth to the humor and sharing with readers a message about love and the people in your life. No-one Ever Has Sex on Christmas Day is a fun, lighthearted read that's perfect for the holidays, or anytime really.

If you love British humor and can’t look away from a train wreck, then Tracy Bloom’s No One Ever Has Sex on Christmas is the perfect holiday read for you. I’ve never read this author before, but picked this book up for review because the title caught my eye. At times it was hard to keep up with the different “groups” of characters this book covers which is definitely more women’s fiction than romance, but it did make me laugh and yet was oddly touching as well.

The majority of the story centers on Katy and Ben whose lives have been anything but normal. While dating Ben, Katy has a one night stand with an old flame and when she winds up pregnant the paternity of her child is under question and Ben was thrown for a loop, but now with their 4 year old daughter and a new home, Ben is determined to make this their best Christmas ever all while trying to persuade Katy it is time to add to their family.

There are a lot of characters in this book Ben’s mates, Katy’s co-worker who is her best friend, people who work at their daughter’s preschool where Ben works as a teaching assistant, not to mention the kids and their parents at the school. Throughout this book, the reader is reminded of just how small the world can be as lives are intertwined. To top it off Katy is offered a job out of the country making her question her career and if the time is right to add to their family and her parents have separated and her Mum plans to come for a visit with her new “boy toy” in tow. See, a crazy train wreck that while fun to read at times became a bit tiresome.

Overall, No One Ever Has Sex On Christmas was a fun, crazy, holiday read.

Now I have read the other two of Tracy Blooms No-one has Sex books before and cried with laughing so this had to be a book for me and it has been perfect reading. A mad cap couple Ben and Katy with a barmy family and screwed up over the top mates yep just sounds like the typical family set up. So organising Christmas is at times like a military campaign because everyone wants that perfect day with the perfect count down as it approaches. School concerts, works knees ups and of course romance, it is always an emotional time.
Katy and Ben are a couple you just love, especially Ben what a gem he is. Katy is bread-winner in the house while stay at home dad Ben is quite a mother hen and one that is becoming broodier by the day. He is already surrounded by children in pre-school helping out as Master Elf and all of the children adore him, especially the new addition of twins whose pushy mum wants them to star in the nativity or so Ben has been told.
This story is full of other over the top characters that are pure gems of entertainment. The sort of moments where people who have had run ins, putting it mildly here, before, just miss each other. Like a person leaves a room and another one comes in through the door opposite. You know at sometime there is going to be a show down but when? Well there are plenty of these times.
I just love Braindead, yep that is one of the main characters and the name he quite happily answers to, I cried openly at the madcap scheme of the storyline surrounding him, oh my this is the diamond amongst the other gems in the book. I still have one particular scene floating into my mind and it still makes me laugh.
This is an all round full on entertaining Christmas farce just super full of laugh every minute pure joy, a perfect read for getting into the spirit of festive family fun.

NO ONE EVER HAS SEX ON CHRISTMAS DAY is the third, hilarious novel in the No-one Ever Has Sex series by Tracy Bloom. I’m loving this series so much. The books are funny, relatable, and quirky. The series follows the same characters, so you get to see them grow through each one which makes them feel like visiting an old friend whenever you read another one. They truly are delightful in the best of ways.

In this one, readers will return to Leeds to visit Ben and Katy during Christmas. If you’ve been reading the books (they need to be read in order) you’ll also be revisiting some old favorites like Braindead (he’s HILARIOUS), Matthew, Allison, and Daniel. Honestly, these secondary characters make this series special in so many ways and are incorporated directly into the storyline rather than just being sideline characters. This is one od the reasons I love this series so much.

Filled with hijinks, Christmas festivities, a botched proposal and so much more, readers are going to adore this Christmas themed romp! I know I love it and I hope readers will give these books a chance especially if you’re looking for a good laugh!

Thanks to Netgalley for my copy.

Although I hadn't read the first two books in this series I soon picked up the background and the links between all the characters. Katy and Ben are happily married with a small daughter Millie. Katy is the high flier and Ben is a house husband and teaching assistant in Millie's class. Ben wants another child but Katy gets an unbelievable job offer. Throw in the fact that Katy's parents are having marital woes and her mum has a new boyfriend, a 64 year old toy boy.

We also have the backstory of Matthew Katy's old boyfriend and his wife Alison who is pregnant with their fourth child.

This is a fun light hearted read set around Christmas time. The stress Katy is under to make a decision results in some laugh out loud moments. The funniest parts for me though involved Katy's mum and her delightfully funny texts and Master elf and his nativity play. Who doesn't enjoy a book when one of the characters is called Braindead?

This was one of the funniest romantic comedies I have read in a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed the British humor that had me staying up until quite late to finish this book. Katy and Ben are a married couple with a 3 year old daughter. Katy is an executive at an ad agency who works crazy hours while Ben is a high school teacher who left his job to stay at home with their daughter. He is now teaching part time at his daughter's pre-school. The other main couple in the story are Mathew and Allison, parents of 3 children with one on the way. If you have read any other books in this series, you will know that these two couples have a past, and in this book, they are going to run into each other again. The author gives enough details about this that you do not need to have read the other books. Throw in the secondary characters of Daniel, Katy's gay best friend, her mother and her new "toy boy" who are coming for Christmas, Ben's bestfriend, Braindead, and his girlfriend and mix in their Christmas plans and you have a fun story. There is also Mathew's best friend and co-worker Ian and their nanny Lena who round out the other family. With Christmas Party's, pre-school nativity plays, proposals, business trips abroad and all the angst that happens at Christmas, and you will understand what the laughter in my living room was all about. This is the first Tracy Bloom book I have read, but it will not be my last. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book via Netgalley.

I've had a goofy grin on my face for the whole of this book. I challenge you to not find something to smile or laugh about in almost every single chapter, it is just that funny and feel good.

This is the third N0-one Ever Has Sex books, and it is the latest installment of Katy and Ben's tale with plenty of other familiar characters too. Although its been ages since I read the last one, I felt back at home with this book very fast, thanks to the small reminders in the narrative. As a result I think that anyone new to the serious should be able to read it as a standalone, although you would be missing out on two excellent books.

I almost never quote from books in my reviews, but on this occasion the second I saw this line near the beginning I took a photo of my kindle just as a reminder. It is a great example of some of the humour in this book, as well as being n example of how mad the world could end up in modern times.

"in this day and age shouldn't Santa be an athletic, transsexual vegan who drives a hybrid and leave you an educational toy along with the address of the nearest charity shop so you know where to donate it once you've finished with it?"

And that is just one of many examples of Tracy Blooms brilliance in this book that really tickled me.

Ben and Braindead (his best friend)'s antics are slightly juvenile at times, relaying the garden centre trip as an example, but Ben is just like a big excitable child at Christmas, and Braindead is going through a life change of his own, again with not the most simple of results!

Then there is the tricky situation that Katy's work puts her in the whole while is being hassled by her mother about the new toyboy and their plans for Christmas in a series of texts at the starts of chapters. So many elements of this book are more probably happening in houses all over the world in the run up to Christmas where they are amusing to the outer world, but horrifically stressful if you are experiencing them!

There is a great deal of festive feelgood feeling in this story, and although it hasn't made me crave Christmas Day it certainly is a fantastic Christmas book that will have you laughing out loud. I just can't explain how much I loved this book - so instead Ill just suggest you read it for yourself!

Thank you to Bookouture and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Once again, I grabbed a book because of the title. It seems here lately it’s either the title or the cover that grabs my attention.

This is one of the funniest rom com’s I think I have ever read. My stomach hurt from laughing.

Ben and Kate are the main focus of this story with several sub-stories scattered throughout the book.
We have Kate’s mom, in her 80’s and divorcing Katy’s dad, and her new boy toy. He is 64! They are coming to spend Christmas with Kate and Ben. Then there are Matthew and Allison who are pregnant with their fourth child and Allison’s obsession with advancing her preschool twins! Matthew is Kate’s ex, enough said. The cast of characters just continues with Daniel who is Kate’s best friend and gay! One of my favorite characters is Braindead, Ben’s best friend since they were 4. Braindead has a unique way of looking at, well, everything, even his girlfriend, Abbey’s, marriage thoughts!

I loved the nativity production. It was hysterical. Thirteen Mary’s, ten Joseph’s, one Spider-Man and two penguins. The first line of the show was “We’re having a baby” and it just gets better. Each child gets to pick what part he or she will play. Love it!

A fun, laugh out loud read!

This was the first time I have picked up a book by Tracy Bloom and my goodness I was not let down! I absolutely loved it, I laughed my head of at so many parts it is soooo hilarious!

The characters Katy and Ben are clearly so in love and meant to be together and they've had a time of it and from what I have gathered they've been through a lot, but they've got through it together and that's what I love seeing couples stick it out and end up so happy.

So of course in this book was going to throw a rock in the works and cause another problem for the pair and indeed it did! If it wasn't Katy's mother it was the prospect of moving to Australia.

There are so many laugh out load moments right the way throughout the book that keep you hooked and make the book so easy to read.

I am definitely going to go back and read the previous books in this series and get to know Ben & Katy better because they are absolutely fabulous characters.

I came across this book on NetGalley and with a title like that I had to look into it a little more. I read the synopsis of this book before I requested it and I even follow several people who have talked about this book on their blog. With a title like that and with what I had seen from the book community I was expecting this book to be funny. Unfortunately this book was a big let down for me. I didn’t find this book at all hilarious and I was so bored with the parts I read. I didn’t connect with any of the characters and honestly they all came across very childish instead of the 40+ year olds they were. It’s worth noting that this is the 3rd book in a series but I didn’t realize that so I read it as a standalone. Maybe that has something to do with why I couldn’t get into it like so many others seem to be doing. I found this to be slow going but that again might just be because I wasn’t enjoying it. I don’t want to keep anyone from reading this book because it seems like the majority of the people are really enjoying it. If you do decide to read this book it might help if you start with the first book.

Katy been spending too much time in the office and not enough time at home with husband Ben and their daughter Millie. Katy is the bread winner leaving Ben to tend the family duties and he is also known as “master elf”

Christmas is a little different this year for their family dynamic after her parents bitter separations and her mother’s demands to have her toy boy present for Christmas Day.

Katy has been offered her biggest client to date and she has to make the tough decision to take it on or have another baby. Ben desperately wants one but Katy isn’t onboard 100%. Christmas Day seems like a disaster with nothing going right. Can they save their marriage and Christmas?

This was a slow burn in the beginning however once it sped up I really enjoyed the chaos of Katy and Ben’s family and friends. I didn’t realise it the 3rd book in the No-one Ever Has Sex on Christmas Day series however you can definitely read this without reading the other books.

Meh.

I didn't realize that this was the third book in a series until I went to update my Goodreads progress, as it wasn't advertised as a series. Maybe that's part of why I'm not into this book.

I don't get the humor. I understood the jokes and quips.... I just wasn't laughing. When the cover of the book says "The most hilarious romantic comedy you'll read this Christmas" - that's a big promise, so I had big hopes. I was left disappointed, with a few snickers here and there but not much else.

The rest of it was just.... Well, boring. I didn't feel connected to any of the characters, nor did I particularly care for any of them. I found Katy rather selfish and irritating, while the others were kind of just... there. Not bad, not good. Just there. There was no big climax really, or much of a plot to follow. It was a light read that's easy to get through, because there's not too much to focus on.

Don't let my review dissuade you. I am clearly in the minority on this one. People are yucking it up and enjoying themselves, while I'm the lone scrooge who didn't care for it. If you've read other books in the series, maybe you'll like it more than I did. But, it's just not my cup of tea.

I received a copy in exchange for my honest review.

I really wanted to like this - some great characters, and humorously written - but it was just so sexist! Woman with great career ultimately chooses family over progression because she can't have both - having long wrestled with her conscience and having something of an epiphany whilst ironing his shirts as he lazed on the couch watching football. Made worse by the fact that there were repeated references to how the boot would be on the other foot if the gender roles were reversed. Really quite depressing.

Not having read the earlier books in this series, it took a bit of time to connect all the dots, even as Bloom did make an effort to provide some backstory for each of the separate vignettes that were progressing in this story. First up is Kate and Ben, with their three-year old daughter, Ben’s best friend Braindead, and Kate’s bestie Daniel. Kate is the working parent here – her salary from her marketing expertise allowed Ben to stay at home to raise Millie, and now with her at school, he’s been hired on as a teacher at her preschool. Ben is all things lovely: committed father, good friend and supportive partner. He’s also over-the-moon excited about this coming Christmas: it’s Millie’s first to really understand Father Christmas and the surrounding hoopla, and they are in a new house which he has decided to decorate. Extensively. But then, the complications start: Katie’s parents are divorcing, her mum has a new “toy-boy” and is coming to spend Christmas (uninvited) bringing Carlos and his myriad of requirements, a single son and smashing Ben’s plans for a quiet and cozy holiday to bits. When a last-minute pitch for a new client for the agency lands on Katie’s desk, and the company owner is pushing for her to up stakes and move to Australia for a new job –putting Ben’s desire for another child on hold and sending her best friend Daniel, now single after his Italian lover left without a word.

If that wasn’t enough tumult to add to the mix of the Christmas preparations, Ben has been handed the reins for the Nativity pageant at school, and is brought face-to-face with new students, a set of twin brother and sister with a rather obsessive and difficult mother, a nanny who finds him attractive, 23 3 year olds who all (with a couple of minor exceptions) want to be Joseph or Mary, and an encounter with his past. The twins father is Katy’s ex Matthew, his wife Allison is heavily pregnant with their fourth child, and she is borderline obsessed with her children’s advancement. When you add in Matthew’s friend Ian – divorced and playing the field, disliked by Allison and having a crush on their nanny – the story just twists up more and more.

Oh there are serious concerns hidden within the never-ending barrage of demands from Katy’s mother, Ben’s nerves and ‘modernization’ of the Nativity, the planning sessions with Daniel to make Braindead’s proposal an ‘event’ and a works holiday party at a cross between Chuck E Cheese, Lion King and a booze-fueled night of abandon. Katy’s worry about the offer to move to Australia, deciding on another baby, where to put her mother and her boyfriend for their Christmas visit, her realization that Daniel has become her best friend and someone very important to her, Ben’s concerns about the secrets that Katy is keeping (the job offer) and her apparent hesitation about another baby, his own worries about whether or not the Nativity will be a success, and walking Braindead through the maze that is his feelings for his girlfriend Abby and his upcoming engagement. Tucked neatly into all of the chaos comes the truth of this story – that love can, will and does conquer all, even as the laughter and the continual piling on of ‘just one more’ request continue near relentlessly to the end.

It's no secret to those that know me well that I'm not a huge fan of Christmas, and I never have been. This year, however, that sentiment has shifted. Maybe it's because I just got married, or maybe I've finally grown out of my grinchly ways. Regardless, this Christmas I'm actually excited about Christmas, not just the overall season. I wanted to make sure there were a few Christmas reads on my TBR this year, to fully make the most of my newfound holly jolly-ness.

No-one Ever Has Sex on Christmas Day is written Love Actually style, honing in on a few families and groups of friends that share connections with one another in some way, shape, or form. Main characters include married couples Katy and Ben, and Allison and Matthew, along with a wide variety of friends and family. I didn't realize until halfway through this book that it is actually part of a series, but that's a good sign because that means it functions great as a stand-alone as well.

Katy and Ben are all settled in for their perfect Christmas when things start to go awry. First Katy's mom demands to attend, then Katy's work life gets turned upside down by an unexpected job offer. Allison and Matthew are expecting their fourth baby, but their well-balanced life could get thrown off by a romance gone wrong. Similarly to Love Actually, the characters all end up together at an office Christmas party, then again at a school Nativity event. At the end of the day, despite all the chaos surrounding them, the group comes to realize that all you need is love.

I really enjoyed this book. I'm a huge fan of Love Actually so when I heard this book described that way I knew I would like it. That being said, it was almost TOO similar, even referencing the movie once or twice in the story itself, so that's where I'm knocking off a star. I would have liked to have seen more unique ideas, but overall this was a fun and fast Christmas read that really puts you in the spirit of the season. The characters were great, and the message was heart-warming and relevant, and I'm so glad I gave this book a chance!

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 Stars

Thanks to Netgalley for digital access to this fun seasonal read!

I have really enjoyed some of Tracy Bloom's books and especially since I read the previous book featuring Katy and Ben I was keen to see what had happened to them. Even if you haven't read that book you can certainly read this as a stand alone, but I found it so much more enjoyable to go back and see where they had got to.

Following on from the last books debacle, Katy is now living in her little house with Ben and their daughter Milly. All Ben seems to want is another baby to complete their little family, however Katy doesn't know what she wasnts. To add to her woes, when her Mum skypes her to tell her that she had left Katy's father and found herself a toyboy AND that she was bringing him over for Christmas she doesn't know what to think. We also see a lot of Braindead who is Ben's closest pal and as the name suggests not the brightest spark at times.

The other characters are Matthew and Allison who are expecting baby number four. Matthew is Katy's ex which makes for a more complicated story than usual. Allison seems to have an ovedoes of hormones making her slight dillusional at times but to be fair also make for some amusing elements of the story.

This story had some very funny moments in it, and also some slightly chatoic crazy moments in it, but overall was another fantastic read. Tracy Bloom has certainly written a very amusing and entertaining story with characters that you can't help but laugh at. It may not be everybody's cup of tea but it certainly put a smile on my face. I would definitely recommend this as an easy to read book that will certainly make you laugh. Can't wait for the next TB book.

Back in the world of Katy and Ben, and Matthew and Alison, with a sprinkling of Duncan, Braindead and Ally, topped with a mother and her toyboy, a job offer, and a huge family Chrtistmas!
I always enjoy reading series, where you can immerse yourself in the characters and their stories, and this one is no different.
Katy and Ben are finally in their dream home, gearing up for their perfect first Christmas in it. But life has other ideas.
She's still working, and now, so is Ben. After Millie, now 3-years-old, started pre-school, he ended up back in education, but now at her nursery. Crowned Master Elf, he has the pre-school nativity to supervise, and that is never without its fraught moments.
A client offers Katy something of a curveball of an opportunity, which she spends most of the book trying to figure out.
Matthew is like that bad smell that seems to never quite get the hint, and comes back on a regular basis. After some misunderstandings at his twins's preschool, they are enrolled at the same one BEn works, which causes untold (funny) stress. Plus he's a dad of three now, with a fourth on the way.
I love the side characters in this series, and Braindead gets a bit more of a starring role in this book, with him finding himself lovestruck!
Katy's mother is hilarious, too, as she announces she has left her marriage, and taken up with a Spanish toyboy of her own, and that they are coming for Christmas!
A laugh out loud book, with so many unfortunate mishaps and misunderstandings, coupled with the continuation of a fantastic story.

*Book provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review*

This book is part of a series, I haven’t read the two previous books, but I have read a Tracy Bloom book before, so I wanted to give this a go.

I really enjoyed this story, but I think I would have enjoyed it even more after reading the first two books of the series.

The story follows Katy and Ben. They are married and have a daughter. Katy is very busy at work and a great opportunity comes up for her. Ben is a teacher at pre-school and really wants another baby. Katy has other things on her mind though.

On top of that there are Katy’s mum and toy boy coming for Christmas and some of their friends play an important role in this book too.
And then there is Matthew, Katy’s ex. Matthew and his pregnant wife Alison add to the story as well.

The book has a great mixture of characters and there are so many LOL moments and it’s a very entertaining read. The storyline has a wonderful flow and a lot of sparkly elements.

I loved this book, but come on- who doesn't love a good Christmas story? If you are a fan of Love Actually you will like this book. The set-up is the same in that there is one main story centering on one family, but several interconnected people stories add to the plot development. The characters are solid and such fun to watch, well actually read. The author did a great job setting up each event it made it easy to see these scenes in my head. I laughed out loud a few times and garnished a few laughs from the people around me.

**Thank you, NetGalley for letting me read this book.**

So I think this one was a little odd for me. It felt repetitive and just didn't keep my attention. I found myself putting it down and not thinking about it for days. Overall I liked the idea of this book about a couple trying for another baby and life getting in the way. However I didn't really care for the way it was written. I would say this one was a 2.5 or possibly a 2.75.

Disclaimer: I was sent an arc of this book in exchange for my honest review. I want to thank Netgally and the publisher for being kind enough to send me this book for free.

This is the first Tracy Bloom book I have read and won’t be the last. I do think it would of been better for me to read the other books first, this would of given me more knowledge of the characters, however this didn’t spoil my read.
I love the way the book was funny but heartwarming and romantic all in one. To throw Christmas in is just fantastic. The book is well written and has a few different story lines that all connect together.
If your looking for a fun and witty Christmas read with chaos drama and heartwarming romance then I definitely recommend this book

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publishers for this review copy, given in exchange for an honest review. Also thank you to Kim from Bookouture for organising the Blog Blitz.

This is the third book in the ‘No One Ever Has Sex’ series. It can be read as a standalone book, and I have to admit that I haven’t yet read the other books in the series! All of the books do contain the same characters, but you don’t need to have read them to enjoy this one.

Katy and Ben are married and have a young daughter called Millie. Katy has a very good job which keeps her away from home a lot. Ben works as a nursery teacher and has recently been given the role of Master Elf in organising the nursery’s nativity play. He also wants another child, but Katy’s not so keen. She feels she’s pushing the wrong side of 40 and also has been offered the chance of a lifetime at work! They are both working hard to make sure that they have a great Christmas (Ben more than Katy!) but things take a turn for the worse when Katy’s mum announces that she is coming to spend Christmas with them – and she’s bringing her Spanish boyfriend, Carlos.

We also meet Matthew and Alison. Alison is currently expecting baby number 4. She’s having a rough time of it at the moment – her husband’s friend Ian has taken a shine to her nanny and her twins aren’t being offered the roles of Mary and Joseph in the school nativity!!! They also have history with Katy and Ben, so when they find out that Ben is organising the school nativity, things just go from bad to worse! Can everyone work hard to get Christmas back on track?

Shamefully, this was my first Tracy Bloom book! After reading this one though, I’m definitely going back to read the others. I thought this book was great. There are so many scenes where I just started laughing and carried on. I loved the character of Braindead! Granted, having him around for any length of time would drive you absolutely crazy, but he was just so funny. I also loved the little text messages from Katy’s mum, giving out her orders for Christmas from who to invite down to what cigars Carlos likes. Katy seemed to ignore the majority of them, and to be perfectly honest, I don’t blame her! The nativity scene at the end was lovely and like the parents, it had me reaching for the tissues!

A great fun Christmas read. Forget about the washing and ironing, grab a glass of mulled wine and settle down into book of festive fun!

Five Stars!

When I started reading No-One Ever Has Sex on Christmas Day I immediately realised that this is part of a series, I just had to read the previous two books before completing this one. I was not disappointed as I found the books hilarious, I constantly laughed out loud when reading them. There are a lot of scenes in this book that is so funny with all the characters really great and likable. I sometimes wondered if Ian and Braindead did not have the same parents, they are both so clueless in a funny way. I just loved the Nativity and many more scenes in the book. I hope Tracy continues with this storyline.
Great fun and highly recommended.
