Trapped by her word and tasked to bring new life to another coven, Lyssa was resigned to her fate. She had bartered herself to save her wolf-king. Arric was safe, the pack was safe, and although the distance between them pained her, Lyssa remained steadfast on the path laid out before her. New life, new blood. As much as Eros, her vampire lover, continued to perplex her, Lyssa was filled with secret joy. Her unborn child, regardless of its creation, was a joy. Lyssa was changed. Impending motherhood and being amongst the undead had changed her. Her love for the wolf-king would never die, but she was learning of a different love, a purer love, a mother's love. And of course there was Eros to contend with. Cold, manipuative and nothing like her wolf-king, his attempts to win her heart were unsettling and perhaps false. Although she was of the undead, Lyssa knew vampires could not be trusted. Now she faced her biggest battle yet against Eros's Sire, her love for Arric and the consequences of it, and a new coven whose unexpected appearance could lead to her very destruction.
I can't even lie and say this series wasn't good. It was written so well. I laughed and I cried and I screamed right along with all the characters in this book. The world building was good. Being able to tell characters apart was good. I wanted to shake a few lycan and vampire. Lyssa's maternal side of the family... just crazy. I was not expecting them. I really hope a book three is coming after this. I can also understand why people may not be drawn to the series and honestly it's because of the cover of the books. I will admit I have skipped over books because of the cover art or lack thereof. But people, if you are reading my review... just get the books. You will enjoy the read.
WOW - the second part was not what I was expecting. Ero's grows on us, I say that cause I was "Team Arric" all the way. Theres a surprise baby and fighting between Arric's Lycans and Annabel's coven of vampires.
Lyssa gets to meet an important member of her family. There's a tinge of sadness towards the end.
I hope that there is more of this story although I understand if there isn't.
Can’t wait for the third book, I don’t want the wait to be too long though. I really love this book. It is as good as the first. She loves both her wolf king and her master vampire. But she has to protect her daughters first.
