Sam and her crew had been tracking Brimstone, a space pirate, for more than a month now, looking for his home base. Finding a volcano with pools of lava at its base seemed an appropriate hideout for “Brim”. Her team was in position and she was ready to move in. She wished Hadrian could be here, but he was on his own mission with the other half of the team. Everything on Shadow Worlds was a trap, but still she had not expected the hell dogs, lava-like beasts, which rose up inside the cave to attack! Using energy manipulation, she gathered heat and forced it into a large rock, releasing it into an explosion that threw the hell dogs aside – for the moment. Then she and the team turned and ran down the passage . . . right into a dead end!

Sam quickly figured that energy manipulation might again provide a way out. She flicked her wrist, draining the last of her energy, and the rocks moved aside so the team could move forward! With the rocks closing behind them, the hell dogs were left on the other side. They were in a huge chamber that would house many ships, but no one was here now. Were they too late? But what about the interference as they had approached this area? How could there be interference if there was truly nothing here? Was this another trap? That appeared to be so as stars suddenly appeared that had been blocked from view by something massive, and the ground under them began to shake.

This author is a super-talented writer who can whisk the reader away into another world and build it up around him! The action never stops in this story line! Samantha immediately draws attention with her fearlessness and the amazing skills that might give Earth and the galaxy some hope of survival against a mighty enemy threat. I highly recommend this book! You won’t want to miss the action and excitement that never lets up! Although I received a copy of this book, my review is completely voluntary and unbiased.

Shadow Fleet - a review by Rosemary Kenny

An exciting series, Shadow Corps, from the incredible Master of Sepukkarian Universe adventures, Justin Sloan, has Dropship: A Near Future Thriller as Book 3.

The MC is Samantha, a feisty resistance leader who has risen through the ranks of the Shadow Corps on their mission to awaken a Space Dragon, no less, in order to rebuild the Orion's Belt constellation of guardians of the Universe. Other members of the Corps are Kwan, a military trainer and commander, his alien fiancee Oorea, Mawrik, Voira and Agathe, all skilled fighters too.

Who is Nebennon and what is his relationship to Samantha?
What is Brimstone's master-plan? Will he complete it, or fail - and why?
Who do some of the Shadow Corps go to find in deep Space?
How will they interact with each other?
When and where does Samantha meet her mother - and what happens next?

Justin Sloan is vastly talented and always brings a thrilling mix of people, (aliens and humans),
heroes and villains, giant homicidal insects and huge space dragons, locations across the galaxy and a very satisfying conclusion that doesn't require (although you won't want to miss them anyway!), the reader to purchase subsequent volumes to resolve annoying cliffhangers, but is a beautifully-formed standalone story that will keep you on the edge of your seat and unable to put it down til you've finished the last page.
An outstanding new novel, Dropship is sure to be a 5-star bestseller as are the previous books in the Shadow Corps series by Justin Sloan. Grab your copy today - and tell all your friends!

Samantha and the Black Ops Intergalactic Team of Assassins remain in the Shadow Worlds planning to deal with the space pirates. Unable to kill Captain Prax at the end of the prior volume, the Team sets its sights on the pirate leader Brimstone. Could the pirates be enticed into the fight against The Great Deceivers? The battle at Hell’s Gate may be a turning point. Mintaka, the last of the Guardians, must be saved. The Potentate of The Syndicate must be eliminated. Surprises for Samantha heighten enjoyment. Samantha and Hadrian make a considerable force, but will they be enough against The Syndicate?

Brilliant conclusion

This is a great and it to this ARC, I also like that ties into a larger amount of world building and you can take branches to further Shadow books or War Wolves etc.
Although Sam is my favourite the other characters were all tidied up for a lot of their issues which gives a very satisfying conclusion to this and helps a lot with wanting to read more stories from JS in this universe.

Nicely Done

I definitely enjoyed this story it had a few answers been waiting to learn. I rather enjoyed the trip. And thought that this arc was tied up rather nicely. I guess we will wait and see what happens next.

Try it, you'll like it!

I approached reading this series with a modicum of trepidation. I usually don't read "fantasy". However , after I finished book one, I was hooked. Couldn't wait for the rest of the trilogy. This is a really fun read, and I highly recommend it.

Enjoyable

Loved the characters and their own personal story line with strong and independent characters. Thanks for letting Samantha grow along with the rest and her friends believed in what she had become.

A lot going on and certainly a space fantasy where nothing is off limits. I think that let if down in a way as every challenge was met with something new so somethings never developed they just happened, if that makes sense. Anyway I enjoyed it which is the main goal. 😁

Saving the Universe

Entertaining wrap to this arc with the Great Deceivers still out there to wreak havoc. I recommend reading the author’s Syndicate Wars series before this one for added context.

This was a decent book continuing in the series. I am thinking that there is little character growth in the books. Things happen but they don't seem to have a huge impact on the characters and then they go on like normal. But it was just a short story continuing the series.
