I didn't mean to get arrested on the night my mother announced she'd secretly married another senator.
Yes, I was a little upset that she didn't tell me before going public with the news. But I would have been content to hang up my party hat for one night, go home, and lick my wounds. Unfortunately, I got home to find my "perfect" boyfriend licking... something a bit less wounded.
What's a girl to do, pretend she didn't see?
So not happening.
It was just a few eggs. And some hot soup. I didn't think he'd call the cops.
In an effort to stop a public scandal for the senators, and give me time to nurse my broken heart, I agreed to disappear for three months. I thought I was going to babysit my new stepfather's three sons on his ranch in Wyoming. Turns out, they were all grown up. In all the right ways.
But I can't have any of them, because they're my stepbrothers.
It's going to be a long three months.
***This is a reverse harem contemporary romance serial. It will be released in 3 parts and as a full novel.***
There is something about the *taboo* factor of both reverse harem and stepbrother romances that entice me. So hearing about something that included BOTH of those topics, along with some hot cowboys, I was excited to read Rope Me, Cowboys.
First off I have to say that Alexa James really brings you into the character's mindset in the way she writes. The language used is very colloquial, smooth and has an overall easy flow. She doesn't make it sounds like a story that's been made up, but rather one that's been lived.
We follow Amber's (the MC) struggle of going from City Life to Country Life as fast as possible, knowing she has to survive without her best friend for 3 months. But as she soon finds out, nothing is as easy as she first thought. With the varying characteristics of the three stepbrothers, it's easy to see why she would be interested in them all.
Can't wait to see what's to come in book 2!
I received a copy of this book from the author for review consideration.
It's a series, but .99c seemed a lot for what I got. The h appears to be a teenage brat, uncaring mother sends her to new husband's sons for the summer. It's going to be RH but I couldn't engage with the characters or the story. Too young, too short and nothing to lure my interest.
Amber is kind of a hot mess after getting shocking news and getting sent to a Wyoming ranch to learn responsibility. James does a great job of showing Amber’s reckless side, but also her vulnerability. The guys are hot and there is a lot of tension - I look forward to book 2!
