Bronze

It’s not all fun and games

Ethan
The Unity Games. Hundreds of hot, competitive, foreign women all staying in Italy for two weeks? Um… yes please! A no-pressure competition where I can show off my snowboard-X skills and time to party guilt-free? Talk about my ideal trip. But when I find out my old friend and partner Elle Ball is staying in the Village too, everything else becomes so shallow. After all, she’s the woman I’ve measured all others against. Now that she’s back in my life for such a short time, am I even good enough to move past “just friends”?

I love her passion and tenacity. She’s everything I’m not. After a terrible moment at the opening ceremonies and her own brush with death, she starts to think some of these “accidents” don’t seem so accidental. When Elle sets her mind to something, all I can do is help and try to hang on. Maybe then I can prove my worth.

Elle
This is what I’ve been working for my whole life. The sacrifice, the early mornings and late nights… It comes down to this. This competition will land me a spot in the US Olympic Figure Skating team for sure. All I have to do is keep my head down and eye on the prize. It would’ve been easy if it weren’t for Ethan McNally.
The last time I saw him, he was a gangly kid… and one of my best friends. Now he’s a major hunk and that poses a huge distraction. So why can’t I stop thinking about him?

I’m surprised to find help and support from new friends as I dive into the strange events going on behind the scenes. As I unravel a vast conspiracy, I can’t help but wonder about my reunion with Ethan. Is he all that he seems or is he saying things I want to hear? Or, like this the Unity Games, were we doomed from the start?

Adele Huxley is new to my canvas of authors and based on Bronze is ready to go the distance. As a teen I was a huge Nancy Drew fan and Bronze takes me back to my days of teen angst and realistically shallow suspense. Ms. Huxley brings some of the lightness back to a genre that can be at times a bit too dark. Bronze is the first novel in the Dangerous Games series. What an introduction. Ethan and Elle are at their best when the shields come down and their hearts are on the line. In a world of competitors, renewed friendships and hidden agendas, danger is always waiting to pop out and surprise.

ARC copy -https://lisabookblogblog.wordpress.co...

This story is set at the Unity games in Italy ran similiar to the Olympics but the goal are awarded to teams at the end & a large cash prize. Elle is a figure skater -the real ice princess with all it’s problems. Ethan is a snowboarder – a player & looking for a good time (life of the Party) but they have a past & it’s about to change each other for the best. But mist of competition they are something sinister going on at the games -can these two find an answer.
This is my first time reading this author books but -it’s well written with interesting characters. I am a fan o the Olympics so the setting was interesting as well as the athletes stories. You don’t need to be a winter sports fan but if you love sport romance with a suspenseful twist you will want to read this first book. I will warn you it ends in a cliffhanger with the next book coming soon. Looking forward to see what happens in the next book. Lisa Jung

I'm not going to lie, this was a book I would normally not even look at simply because "sport" stories are not a favorite, but I won this in a Facebook event and thought I'd give it a try as Adele is a new to me author.

It took me a bit to get into the story. Elle's other voice started off rather distracting until I understood her better. Ethan was introduced as the typical jock playboy.....but as I read more these characters grew on me. Throw in the "events" and I became hooked - so much so that I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

This is a great story with a budding romance, some suspense and some great secondary characters.

I was looking for something a bit different to read, and Adele Huxley definitely gave it to me with her book, Bronze. It has romance, a bit of steam, and lots of suspense. It is a definite page-turner!
I liked the characters right away, with the exception of Anna. Maybe she will turn a corner, and I’ll like her in the next book. I love when a character grows and matures, and the main character, Elle definitely did that. She has self-confidence issues, although everyone around her sees her differently than she sees herself. Her suite mates, Hadley and Rebel, take her under their wings, and the three become fast friends. Ethan is the one who gives who that push to have confidence in herself, and the voices of doubt begin to diminish. So Ethan….he’s the bad boy of his sport, but he isn’t really. He and Elle have an immediate connection, and it only deepens when they recognize each other. The two used to skate together when they were kids, and the crush they had on one another becomes more as they spend more time together.

Like I wrote earlier, I loved the characters, and the deep friendship and bond each of them shared. However, I loved the suspense of the book. The twists, turns, and surprises really kept the book moving for me. I would think I had a character pegged as the culprit, but Huxley would prove me wrong. She even surprised about some characters. I thought they were minor players in the story, but then they would become huge players.

Her writing was very good, and the way she described everything… I felt like I was there…from their exclusive lodgings to the snowboarding course or the ice rinks. She literally put me in the book and made me a part of it!

The characters, the plot, the setting, the romance, the friendship, and the suspense all combined to make this a perfect story! I’m so glad this isn’t the end of the series. It looks like Huxley has more surprises awaiting us in the next books, and I can hardly wait!!!

This is my very first book by Adele Huxley, and while I'm a bit peeved that I came late to her fun party, at least I showed up before it was over! Bronze was a story that hijacked my attention cover to cover, so I didn't move to do anything else until the very last page. Now, I could do some kind of description, but since it's full of suspenseful goodness, I'm not going to do that, so you'll just have to read the blurb. Instead, just going to describe my feelings. Basically it takes place at what's called The Unity Games, not to be mixed up with the Olympic Games. Logan & Elle are the hero/heroine, who are athletes trying to succeed in different ways. But even more than that, they knew each other when they were younger. On top of those two, the other athletes are the entertaining cast of secondaries that kept me laughing. Adele Huxley's writing style shone with talent, & became a new addiction. Her twists & turns were around every corner, and honestly, still don't know what's going on, which had me dropping loud f-bombs. And then in big fashion, she left me hanging with that ending which has her added to my list of authors trying to KILL ME DEAD, so that means that forevermore, she's hash tagged #EVILWHORE. Thankfully, I already have Silver, which I CANNOT WAIT to dive into, so all that's left to say is that I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This is the first book in "The Dangerous Games" series by Adele Huxley. As the Unity Games begin, the contestants are informed of the prizes. Everything about the games as been kept hush hush. The contestants for the winter games are amazed with the plushness of their accommodations.

Elle, a figure skater, is reunited with Ethan, her former couples partner after ten years. He's now into snowboarding and has a reputation as the life of the party. After seeing Elle, he remembers how things were and starts questioning his lifestyle.
As the games open, tragedy strikes. Ethan and Elle, along with their friends, start seeing a pattern of mysterious accidents and disasters occurring. As they start investigating, they grow closer. But then Ethan screws up. Another incident makes him fear for Elle and he confronts her with his suspicions. What's really going on with the games?
Follow Ethan, Elle and the gang as they try to unravel this mystery. Just when they think they have it figured out, the game changes.
I really enjoyed this book though it didn't grab me right away. But when it did, it didn't let go and kept me guessing.
This is the first book and it ends with more unanswered questions than answered ones. Eagerly awaiting the next book!

If you add up all the parts of this book, what you are left with is a story that delivers on absolutely all fronts. I love a sports romance and having never read on based around winter sports I was eager to read this one when I read the blurb.
I like the mix that the author brought to the page, it wasn’t just a romance, nope I actually thought the mystery was front and centre. But that is not diminish the importance of the romance, after all love makes the world go around after all.
I thought the authors writing was totally captivating and when the story hit its stride, it was difficult to find a place to pause, there was so much going on that each page drew me further and further into place…just where the author expected me to be no doubt.
You will be intrigued by the danger that emanates from each page and the mystery of who is behind all the angst, I thought I had it pegged but it took me a couple of bites at the cherry to get it right!
A well written story that is more than it appears on the surface and that left little to the imagination, who needs to think much when an author this good is willing to produce such a fantastic body of work.

This is the first book that I’ve read by Adele Huxley and I have to say I quite enjoyed it. This book has mystery and intrigue with a dash of romance and then through in some sports and there’s not much missing.
At the very beginning it started a little slow for me and was a little difficult for me to get into but I stuck with it and I’m so so glad I did!! Because once it hits it hits hard and you can’t pull yourself away from this book. You so want to find out what is going to happen next and if their ever going to figure out who’s behind it. And if anything is going to happen to them every time they put themselves in danger!! It’s definitely a page turner and leaves you on the edge of your seat at every turn! I’m not going to give anything away or spoil it for you. Just know that if you like books that have mystery and danger with sports and romance and some parties in there too then this is the book for you!! And I can’t wait for the next book to get some more answers and keep searching for what all is happening at these games! - By Tina

I wasn't certain at the beginning of the book that I'd really like the book but the mystery drew me in. I wasn't too big on the constant partying and drinking but maybe that's common behaviours for young adult pro athletes.

The idea of a unique last minute winter sports competition where there's no medals for individual players but rather only for the country at the end was unique.

The danger started pretty early on and kept going throughout the book. A van driven into the opening ceremony, a fire in one of the men's rooming towers, disappearances, food poisoning, broken ice skates..... I was upset we never do see or learn more about what happened to Oksana and those "special drinks" from the coach, JT, Shaun, what happened to the coach, etc.
I felt like there's many loose ends and I'm hoping Silver helps fill in tons of the blanks. I do like that while Bronze focused on Elle and Ethan refinding and exploring the relationship from when they were young; the blurb for the next book says we'll see a new pairing from the group. I'm intrigued enough to dig in for book two.

This is a story of Ethan who's a snow boarder and Elle a ice skater. 8 years ago Elle's heart was broken when Ethan's dad pulled him out of ice skating with Elle not only losing her pairs partner but also their friendship.
When they meet again at The Unity Games, organised by Michael Landry, they are surprised to see each other but to maintain his reputation in front of his friends he plays off that he was an ice skater which upsets Elle. He can't get the look of hurt in Elle's face out of his mind. He can't think of anything else not even his snowboarding except Elle! He's got to sort this out!
When accidents start happening at the games Ethan, Elle and their dorm partners start investigating. Can they find out together whose to blame whilst falling in love?
OMG I'm hooked. Just when you think you've cracked it Adele throws in another twist and turn! How long till book 2, Silver???? Also looking forward to more of the other characters!

Bronze is a little different from most of the genre’s that I read. Bronze is what I would call a romantic suspense, sports novel. This is the first book in the Dangerous Games Series. The scene is set as The Unity Games (kind of a Winter Olympics). Only the money they get for winning is big and these kids may be able to move on to the Olympics.

Elle and Ethan have a history with each other. Elle is a figure skater and Ethan used to figure skate until his father felt that was too girly. Now Ethan is a snowboarder and he is good, very good! There is a conspiracy and strange events happening. A little mystery, suspense & romance. Although, I feel that the romance is on the lighter side in this book.

I enjoyed reading Bronze and I look forward to reading the next book in this series. Silver will be out at the end of December.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book. I give Bronze 4 stars.

I really enjoyed this book! The characters were well developed, the dialogued flowed smoothly and the story, with all of its twists and turns was an easy read. I particularly enjoyed the banter between all the characters, which added a touch of much needed humor at times.

Elle is a figure skater that has spent her whole life focused singularly on her sport and doesn’t have time for friends or relationships. Ethan is a charismatic snowboarder who has never fully gotten over the one girl that stole his heart when he was just a kid. When these two are reunited for the Unity Games, a sweet and at times awkward relationship blossoms; despite the strange and mysterious things that appear to be happening at the Unity Games.

I really enjoyed this story and the easy direction it took. It was easy to follow, interesting and sweet. The transition into the next book in the series was written very well and I look forward to diving into that one next!

Bronze is the first book in the Dangerous Games series by Adele Huxley which is a romance story that is a page turner with suspense, twist and turns and surprise after surprise. Adele is a writer that has the knack of making you feel like you are right in the middle with the characters and the world in which they live. There are some characters that you love to hate and those you just love and some you just want to smack up the side of the head.

The best of the best are called up to take part in the Unity Games with prizes unheard of, but these are no ordinary games. Competitors from all over the world come together to be the best they can be, but what happens when things start to go wrong? What happens when there are hidden agendas? Who is safe and who can they trust?

Adele has written a great story and there are more to come. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and see where this story goes.

What starts out as a love story soon turns into a story with mystery and intrigue. It is the first ever winter Unity games and athletes from all over the world were picked to compete in their respective sports. Elle the tiny talented figure skater and Ethan the hot, life of the party snowboarder knew each other as kids. Now that they are adults their attraction is even stronger. When bizarre events start to happen, Elle and Ethan and their friends find themselves in the middle of a big riddle. I really enjoyed how the character personalities shine in the story and you are able to connect with the cast of characters. This book ends in a cliffie, so be warned. I can't wait to read Silver to see what happens next.

OMG Adele has done it again! She left me hanging on the edge of my seat, begging for more. There was humor, romance, and suspense. The story takes place on Italy and is similar to the winter Olympics, but with a twist. What is that twist, you ask? I guess you will have to read the story to find out.

This book captivated me from the first page, all the way through to the last. But just a heads up, it does and on a cliffy. So if cliffhangers aren't your thing, then wait for the next installment to release. If cliffhangers don't bother you, then grab on, sit back, and hang on. This books is going to take you on a ride of your life!

I received a copy of this book and I gladly leave my review.
This is the 1st book I’ve read and reviewed for Adele Huxley and I loved it. This story is about Elle and Ethan, Ethan is a snowboarder and Elle is a figure skater, the scene is set at the Unity games in Italy. There’s suspense, romance and there’s great chemistry between Elle and Ethan. I’m not going to give any spoilers because Adele says it all in her blurb. I was so into this book I couldn’t put it down, absolutely fantastic read and I definitely recommend this book.

Bronze is a good read.   A bunch of athletes are competing in The Unity Games.   At first there were a lot of characters and I was a little confused with the storyline but that didn't last long.   Ethan and Elle are the two main characters.   They have a past but haven't seen each other in a long time.  Elle is a determined focused athletes.  Ethan is more of a player but when he see Elle again he only has eyes for her.  It's not just a romance story.  When odd things start happening with get a some mystery built in.

This is the first book in the series and what a start! You get a bit romance with some mystery thrown in too that keeps you on the edge of your seat and turning the pages, I loved that the sports were a little bit different to what I usually read and also that the story centres around the Unity games ( winter games). I loved Elle and Ethan, they have a history together and are now thrown together and trying to figure out the mystery. This is a highly addictive read, can’t wait for the second book in this series.

Bronze takes place at the Unity Games in Italy. It is like the Winter Olympics where athletes from all over the world compete. Ethan, a snowboarder and Elle, a figure skater knew each other from a time when both were figure skaters and they were partners until Ethan father made him withdrawal from skating. They meet up again and realize how much they still want to be together. Then things start to happen, mysterious accidents and things that are unexplained. I loved the suspense and the mystery of trying to figure did it along with some romance. This made for a can’t put down read.

This fabulous book is not just your typical romance book. It contains humor, suspense and romance. Elle and Ethan both are strong characters. They both used to figure skate together. But Ethan is now a very good snowboarder. All Elle wants to do is keep her head down and figure skate to win. But of course, she looks up and who does she see? Ethan! This does end in a cliffhanger, so beware is you don’t like waiting. But I would beg to say the wait will be worth it. Cannot wait for Silver!!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of Bronze by Adele Huxley for my honest opinion.
I’m sorry but I’m not going to give you any spoilers about this book. But I will tell you that it is a great story from Adele. I’m not really into sports romance books because I tend to find them a little too boring for my tastes. But the way Adele wrote this book story she managed to keep me interested and keep me reading until the very end. So you want my advice? Well my advice would be get this book because you won’t be disappointed with your choice.

I'm not a fan of sports related books unless it written by Adele Huxley then I definitely make an exception. Winter sports and Adele seem to go hand in hand. This book was no exception. It's full of lively characters coming together for the Unity games some of which have a shared past with a shared future looking very bleak. Someone is out to spoil everything !!.
I love the who dunnit type storyline mixed with a bit of romance sass and humour and can't wait for the next book. .

Who knew there could be so much intrigue in the newly started Unity Games? Apparently there have been too many accidents to be coincidence. Ethan and Elle knew each other way before now, but both have changed. Can they bridge the gap? You see them struggle with what is happening and who they are now. A must read, but this is definitely not the final story. It is a HEA .... sort of.
