Urban Justice is the standalone second book in a series of vigilante thrillers starring Sheriff Jack Lamburt. If you like brutal action, high-tech villains, and unflinching violence, then you’ll love John Etzil’s gritty series.
Buy Urban Justice for a story that comes out with its guns blazing today!
Probably a good read if one is a government conspiracy follower. For real world readers, a total waste of time. Even the anti drug dealer action is "yuck".
John Etzil's hilarious badass, Jack Lamburt, is back in book two of his Vigilante Justice Thriller series. Once again Lamburt's friends and sidekicks flesh out a fun cast of characters in a fast-paced thriller. Jack's hot bartender girlfriend is his sidekick and straight man to his comedic lead. Together they take out the trash and leave a trail of dead bad guys in their wake. Their first order of business is springing Debbie's sister from the drug dealers who have drugged her and made her subservient to them. The action sequence of Lamburt single-handedly infiltrating the compound and exfiltrating with Debbie in tow is one of the best I've read, full of quick-witted dialogue, lightning fast action, plenty of violence for those of us who like that sort of thing, and a harrowing escape. And that's just the beginning. I won't give away the rest of the story but let's just say Jack kicked the hornets nest and now they're swarming after him. Great fun, page-burning read!
Oh dear. Lamburt is the wild card, the whacked out vigilante....dishing out death and destruction wherever he goes. The author gives a shout-out to Russell Blake-that is an intentional mention, right? And a nod to Lee Childs’ Jack Reacher. Yes, I’ll keep reading.
The last time I reviewed one of these books I commented about his use of the very first line in the book being the inciting incident around which the whole story evolved.
In this particular novel the “raison d’etre” developed chapter by chapter. It was, for me, a completely different way of doing things. And I loved it.
All the characters had substance. They had their own minds and followed their own rules. You learned different things about each of them, as the story progressed.
It was an awesome effort. And I loved the development of the plot as we moved through the various different parts of the story.
So, I get an email from an author, John Etzil, all but begging me to read his novel, “Urgent Justice.” So, after finishing Brian Andrews’ “The Sandbox” I take the plunge. Oh, he also wanted me to write a review of it. This is that review. I gave Etzil 4 stars all because one of Etzil’s characters, his Francis, an old Lady in her nineties had me LMAO. Quite the Lady to be sure. I hope my Lady turns out like Francis!
I enjoyed the romp and it was just that…far-flung, romp. Reality escapes Mr Etzil’s plot formulas, as he trades it for humor (there’s plenty of it) as his Lamburt, a Law-abiding Sheriff, exercises his being a freckless vigilante, killing the bad guys without needing Justice. And the guy is loaded with money! Not too sure where it came from, but maybe his being a vigilante makes him a mighty fine banker or thief or I give up.
3.5 stars. Urban Justice is the second book in the Jack Lambert series. This is the first book by John Etzil that I have read so I wasn't sure what to expect. What I found was an interesting story that managed to keep me reading. While this is part of a series, this can be read as a standalone without a cliffhanger. There is violence and sex.
The book blurb adequately describes the storyline so I'm not going to repeat that all info here. The author did a good job of explaining what is going on and describing the characters and the setting of the story. There were enough twists, turns, and surprises to keep my interest.
I loved this book. Tho in spots it was predictable, in just as many places it wasn't. It kept me interested to see how the characters could possibly get out of the situation they found themselves in. I found myself thinking how easy it was to hate the villain and find a hero that is less than perfect but likeable anyway. This is my second book by this author, and in both books the body count is pretty high. If you are looking for a feel good book with roses and hearts and hand holding while walking on the beach this is not the book for you. Pass it by.
Same review I gave the first one: I've gotten in the habit of reading a couple of these (kick-ass, ex-soldier/cop/special forces/super-duper tough guy with dead women and lots of dead bad guys in his past) in between other books because they're fast, easy, fairly mindless but very entertaining. This one was better than some and enjoyable. The typos or misspelling or using the wrong word is aggravating but there weren't a ton of those. It's hard to rate these kind of books - I could rate it 2 stars or 4 stars. I'll split the difference. I'll read the next one if it's not too expensive.
I really like these stories about Jack Lamburt. They're tongue in cheek action thrillers with a hint of romance and a good dose of humor. Of course, not many authors can make fun out of killing bad guys. While there is a touch of repetition when it comes to the flying scenes, I haven't met a private pilot yet that doesn't wax on about the intricacies of flying. Editing/proof reading could use a little help, but nothing overly distracting.
Jack Lamburt is a small-town sheriff with a dark past who takes on a New Jersey drug gang to rescue his bartender girlfriend Debbie’s sister Catherine. Things start to heat up for Jack when the FBI starts noticing his actions against the drug gang. Jack gets the attention of FBI agent Leo Kennedy who helps Jack rid his town of drug dealers that have invaded his town. I really enjoyed this fantastic action-adventure thriller novel.
Jack Debbie and the entire town are trying to make the famous Red Barn a safe place to eat and drink. When Debbie asked Jack to rescue her sister they planned and completed their mission. Once backbone and the terrible man who had captured and abused Catherine died at the Red Barn. Will continue following this'd talented author
John does it again! This next installment in the series (which will work as a standalone but why would you?) takes us on a roller coaster ride right up to the end. Our friends from the Red Barn even get in on the action. I love this series!
I received a free copy of the book from the author and I am thrilled to be able to give you my honest review.
This was the 3rd of the series for me, and I'm anxious to start #4. These are such good reads! Interesting & action packed, but also has a humorous undertone. Characters are enduring, (especially Frances) and even the smaller characters add their own unique level to the story. I recommend starting book #1 and keep reading!
I like the writing style, the characters, and even the plot in general. However, trying to tell me there's a secret database on everyone where all phone calls are recorded and data is extremely detailed is farfetched and takes away some of the books appeal.
This was just as good as the first book in the series. I love the fast pace no fluff action of this book. The author doesn't drag scenes out or bore us with too many words or explanations.
I enjoyed the storyline about a couple and their adventures. Involves a lot of violence. Sometimes the details of how things work or what they are interfere with story. I did learn a thing or two about airplanes!
This story has quite a few interesting sub plots ,along with the characters to fill in with, to make this story come together.I will follow up with reading more of John Etzil's books
Yup, Jack is at it again in style getting rid of the evildoers. This time he brings it to the door of The Red Barn. But what a story to get to that point! Good fun and good humour make this an enjoyable couple of hours.
More scrapes, for the lawman. His girlfriend Debbie, has a sister. Her sister, got involved with the wrong people. Became an addict. Deb and her man, go to rescue her. While doing that, discovered another crime.
John Etzil has done it again . A thrilling read in his Vigilante Justice series . All the great characters are back doing what they do so well. A great read!
This was another action-packed book with Jack seeking vengeance. Francis is slowly stealing the show and becoming my favorite character. It is nice to see several strong females in the books as well.
This was another enjoyable and fast read, with mystery and humor mixing very well with the action . As with the first one, I would have liked a longer book.
Enjoyed the book, first book was good too, ex military man is sherrif in a small town manages to get involved with transient gangsters and retires them
