But this time, the Rebels want her to rob a bank.

Specifically, the Royal Bank itself, the best-defended building in North America.

And unless Nadia uses all her magic and all her cleverness, she’s going to take the fall for the heist of the century…

It's almost time for Nadia to steal the second item for the Rebels- but in her down time she has been making hell for them behind the scenes- mostly blowing their operations and literally blowing things up.

description

But now that she's back with Nicholas and the 'team' she will have to work with them if she wants to complete her Elven masters deal with the Forerunner. Fortunately for Nadia it's looking like a bank heist (which is well worn territory for her) Unfortunately its an Elven bank and highly secured.

“How much experience do you have robbing banks?” said Murdo.
“Um,” I said. “What’s the statute of limitations for bank robbery?”
Murdo thought for a moment. “I don’t think there is one.”
“Then none. I have no experience robbing banks whatsoever.”

However, this time around it looks like she might have a tentative ally in new member Rory Murdo. He seems strangely familiar and Nadia finds herself trusting him. But with her sanity teetering a thin line and having to dodge multiple assassination attempts- can Nadia keep it together enough to complete this insane mission?

Nadia is given her second assignment working for Nicholas Connor and the Rebels. This involves stealing an item from the Royal Bank in Washington D.C. Both the Inquisition and High Queen, in addition to Elven nobility and highly placed humans, bank there so security and surveillance, both magical and electronic, is practically insurmountable.

Nicholas is an evil genius and creates a plan to overcome these obstacles. As an aside, he doesn't have any respect for Hailey so I wonder why he made her a Gatekeeper. She doesn't seem very skilled in her magical abilities.

Meanwhile, Nadia is beginning to trust Rory Murdo and they reveal some secrets to each other. She is also the target of more assassination attempts. Somebody definitely doesn't think she is irreplaceable for success in these missions.

There is a surprise revelation at the end. All in all, another great sequel.

Formulaic but enjoyable. I’ve really liked this series - each book follows a similar formula (this one more so than most)... and I’ve been eating through the books. My reason for awarding this one 3 stars instead of 4 is that it feels a bit like the author is going through the motions, also the constant reference to things happening a 160 years ago or whatever feels a bit artificial (Nadia would surely not have such a precise grip of the number of years she was there to unthinkingly do the exact math). Also the revelation was - let’s be frank - not really a revelation at all as anyone with half a brain would have guessed it a book or so back. Happy days. With all that said I’m still going and still enjoying - take my monies Jonathan - and kudos to the publishers on book pricing - it’s about perfect.

Tip me over with a FEATHER!

Throughout this series, Moeller has made a practice of coming with some exceptional closing lines for the books’ last sentence. I don’t know if this is true of all of his writing, or merely the series, but it certainly applies here. In THIS case the final line of the book utterly blew me out of the water.

Nadia faces three tasks that she has to finish and each task is a book into itself. We’ve done two and I’m excited to see what the third is going to be especially now that I read that last line, trying to book pro this is not a piece of work all of these are built up upon the other and you will not regret a single penny you spend on them.

Have a good day and enjoy!!

I do still really like the overall plot, but it is just so freaking slow. I'm getting bored of the same heists, same conversations, same descriptions, same inner monolog. Many things are literally copied and pasted. This book also had tons of inconsistencies. It seemed like the author was getting lazy and forgetting things, like the fact that we already learned what an EMP was. Even things about Nadia's chatacter didn't make sense, and I don't mean because of her PTSD. I also knew who Rory was immediately. However, I still like that twist despite it being predictable and I can't wait to see how long it lasts.

Contracted out to do three tasks for the ex fromHell, task two has her breaking into the only bank dedicated to the Queen and her elven royals. Even through all the unimaginable trials she has had, it is surprising she still manages to hang onto threads of her humanity. Of course this is just a stepping stone with more and more in the shadows trying to plot her demise! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.

Love this series!

Cloak Games is one of those series that utilizes a large chunk of patience waiting for the next book. I truly enjoyed Hammer Break. Thankfully, Jonathan Moeller releases new books faster than a grandma knits socks. Hopefully we won't have to wait long for the next installment in the series.

Two Down One To Go

Nadia has to retrieve 3 items for three Rebels, at the behest of Morvilind. This heist is the hardest so far. An Elven bank with golem, magical wards, elemental beings and more. She has unlooked for help from one of the Rebels named Rory. Will "Rory" be able to keep his secret from her & help to defeat the Rebels?

Deal with the Dark Ones/Rebels #2

In the second of three deals to steal something Nadia Moran aka Katrina Stoker has to rob a bank with magical impossible security before being attacked and betrayed from someone of Nicholas Connor’s team. Intense as always, and sometime in the next books her family may be used as leverage and blackmail.

And the adventure continues

As the adventure continues the characters become more and more real with strong feelings for and against each other. What surprises will the next chapter hold?

I am not a big fan of the more traditional rob a bank stories. The characters were interesting. The action kept coming.

This is a fun book, but I do not consider it to be one of the better ones in the series.

This is one of those series that gets better as it goes along. Lots of action, interesting characters, good story, well written - everything flows smoothly. The books are getting longer and more complex in areas but it works

The series has definitely improved now that the main character has come into her powers more. There still is too much of a focus on appearance, but it's not too distracting from the series.

Book 8 of Cloak Games. Serious spoilers ahead.

Starting with the way Nadia is getting back at the Rebels in the opening with a raid and destruction. But then she gets the phone call: it's time for her to steal the second thing for them. And they send a stranger to pick her up. He tells her he's driving her from Denver to Washington DC.

The problems include some assassination attempts, what the Rebels have to do to keep from breaking the bargain, elemental fire panthers, mercury golems, a catering company that's only a shell, installing a new noble, and more.
