You've got something incredible here

I was worried he wouldn't finish this series and so happy he decided to. I'm a gamer and a reader. So all of his books have been a treat for me. This series is special to me. VR is something I'd give up my physical body for. I'd love to read a hundred books written in this world, though I'll settle for the trilogy if he can't be persuaded on the 100 :P Readers you HAVE to read this series if you like games, VR, scfi or just well crafted stories and worlds. His other books are amazing as well. All of them could and should be made into AAA movies. I can't stress this enough, you need to read these books

Do note this and the 3rd book are part of an omnibus edition "mistakenly" identified on Amazon as singly book 1. This particular book within the omnibus edition, Campaign, is an enjoyable read.
SPOILERS::::::

Everyone gains in power, even within the "Instance" though through a bit of wheeling and dealing with the Scouts by Sebastian, largely to save the life of Aleron. Everyone shows off a bit in the "dungeon raiding" they are forced into. Well, perhaps not initially Mercy or traditionally at all so Sebastian. And they end up bankrolling a large sum the "Scouts" are unaware of as well as some killer gear. It is suggested at some point that the Scouts are actually time travelers. Not sure how that actually fits into this book or even makes any actual sense since they would have had nothing to travel into until approximately the time the beta testers entered the game. Frankly, the notion of traditional and even otherwise time travel came off as really cheesy to say the least. I do hope it is sort of metaphorical or is revealed to be in some other fashion. To say it is so traditionally or such would be pretty WEAK!! Anyway, it does not deter me as I am well into book 3 now already and laughing at Isaac's attempts to contact Sebastian and the means and "personae" by which he thinks it best to do so. What a dumbass!!

Growing on me

It's clear now that this was inspired by Aleron Kong's Chaos Seed series. The main character is named Aleron, and there was an item mentioned that has an identical name with the same purpose.

Other than sharing a premise, the two series are incredibly different. The style of writing is special in that we're seeing multiple perspectives but we're not actually learning anything from them. This keeps the primary focus on the main group, and to a lesser extent, Isaac & Kara.

The Scouts seem to be rather malevolent but so far they haven't done anything permanent. I'm looking forward to see what they do next.

I'm also hoping that book 3 has more of the godling. She was briefly mentioned at the end of book 1, going into the tower but that's just been a cliffhanger so far.

Just finished this book and Wow! I cannot wait to read what comes next. I was hooked beginning to end. Great story and characters and just enough mystery to keep me guessing as to what will happen next. Love the gaming aspect and if you’re an MMO player this book will speak to you on a deep level. Please check it out and give the author some love. I found his first series The Game Is Life on a free offer and gave it a shot and was not disappointed and this series has hooked me even faster. Love it and highly recommend it.

This sequel was a decent continuation of the overall story, but was nothing special. I'm hoping that the third book will prove...well...more everything.
Nearly this entire book was taken up with the gamers stuck in an 'instance' part of the VR world where they had to complete the quest or die trying. Some questions were answered from the previous book, but really only led to more questions. Overall, this book was required to keep up with the story, but for me this was just filler to take everyone to the next book.

Great follow up to Book 1

I had wondered where this second book would go after the unique and exciting world Terry Schott created in the first Blades VR book. I was very intrigued with the story and character development in Book 2. And I'm excited to dig into the third book to see what happens! I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed The Game Is Life series or who is up for unique fantasy - it's different from anything you've read before!

Outstanding

I started the Blade VR series to kill time while waiting for "The Source" to be released. As with every other Terry Schott series, I immediately found myself immersed in the story. My son is a LARPer and MMO gamer whose adventures I enjoy vicariously. The Blades VR series captures the essence of the gaming experience I love "hearing" about but have no inclination to do myself.

I enjoyed this second book of the series that continues the adventures of those in the game and the puzzles outside it. Treachery is rife in the name of protection and it's not easy to know who is hero or villain.

Well-written and fast-paced, this fantasy has intriguing and interesting characters and multiple plots - yes, a compelling read.

Highly recommended.

The mysteries that come out really make me want more, but I'm still not sure where this book is going. It has so many similarities to his other series Game is Life, but it's not a direct reference... at least yet.

I would highly recommend this book. Can't wait for book 3.
