Well written book in a great serioe

Most fans of alternative military history have always been fascinated with a "what if" World War 3. The author has taken this scenario and explored more than most author's that have attempted to write on the subject. He does not just focus on the Central Front in Europe but looks at possible scenarios throughout the globe. Professor Stroock looks at how World War 3 could have played out in different theaters of operations and how nations would have involved themselves. In ANZACS the reader gets to see how Australia , New Zealand and other Pacific allies are brought into the fighting. The book finds a military operation against Vietnam. What impressed me so much was how expertly Professor Stroock described military operations and the weapon systems used by these particular combatants. The author understands and describes combined arms operations and goes into great detail about how war is fought at the tactical level. However he mixes this wonderfully with his character development. Professor Stroock shows combat through the eyes of his characters. This book is a page turner and I highly highly recommend it.

Interesting story about a peripheral battle in a war that never was.

I've enjoyed this series, and I've read the other two books. So far, it's a good fun read. However, there are a couple of minor details that I wish the author would have gotten right.

I don't mean to strain at gnats in order to swallow camels. I don't mean to cringe, but every time that I read " 4.5 mm cannon ", it just kills me. I believe they're trying to say 4.5 cm cannon or perhaps 450 mm. I know, a minor point.

The story is entertaining, and pretty interesting. You don't ever grow to care much about the characters, because you don't really get to know them. The action scenes are good, and that's why I like to read books like this.

Overall, it's a good series, this book was a good read. I'm looking forward to the next one.

Research your countries before you write about them.

Sorry but as a kiwi I found this book insulting. Apparently Hurling is a national sport, hurling I had to google it to find out what it is. Basic things like the Prime Ministers first name was Geoffrey not John. Then the battle scene! Makes out the kiwi solders to be incompetent, no army group with enemy solders in range would be laying about and swimming, especially a highly trained force like the NZ army in action for the first time.
Sorry if you can't be bothered researching I can't be bothered reading.
But on the plus side he got the capital city right thus time, it was Auckland in another book.

3/5. Vietnam is the latest Russian ally to get the call to help take pressure off it in the big war. It responds and provokes an invasion by Australia and New Zealand, supported by other Pacific Ocean nations. Heavy combat and heavy losses on both sides. When things settle, the ANZACS are in possession of some key Vietnamese real estate, like Cam Rahn Bay and Haiphong. The narrative jumps confusingly from one front to another on the ground, then from one element to another in the air and at sea.

Eye opener

Last book I did not like, did not know who was who, and was glad to get to the end. This book brought out the politicians of the southern pacific. Very interesting, and well written. I do believe the enemy's Navy would have been more reactive. Just my belief. Good read.

I didn’t see one Kangaroo

The story has been war filled there the series but this one was a meat-grinder of death and chaos has we given faces to lose and gain interest in. The high point of new chacthers was you went a route I’ve only seen too other authors use had previous world leaders to the mix truly neat idea that got me going want to see if had more in the book.

Another strong entry in the series. You really need to read the whole thing in order to do this right. This another book that would be rated 3.5 stars in Goodreads would give me that option. There are some anachronisms here but as I said before a different time line makes allowances for those issues.

I enjoy this series

I like the series but this particular volume was a little short of super power confrontation. This was a side show war between 2 bit players. It's necessary to bring the whole world in to fit the story.

A good story, hurt by...

A good story, hurt by a lack of editing and proofreading. This is a recurring theme for this series, and it gets tedious.

Outstanding !

This is as true as it gets. The writing is superb. Well researched, you feel as one with the characters, especially if yo7 have been in the military and combat.

Best War Action Book Ever

I would recommend this book to all my friends. Due to its fast-paced action of the battle. It keeps you on the edge of your seat with every word.
