From 14 to 25-years-old, Sam Martin's an afterthought in Nimbus. All this world wants is for him to leave, for him to go outside the steel doors and survive in the vicious, untamed wilderness for 11 years. After all, every person who has ever called Nimbus home has done it. Every. Last. One. Or so he was told.
Outside the walls of Nimbus, Sam's faced with horrors unimaginable to someone who's spent his whole life stuck behind the steel. Now, he must fend off evils he's never seen, horrors he never could have expected—all while fighting himself. After all, he's just a kid. A kid who never knew how heavy fate could truly be.

This book has captivated me from the start. It was a page-turner, impossible to put down.
Miller has made it possible to hate the authorities with every cell in my body. My blood boils by just thinking about what goes on in the twisted concept of Nimbus. Sending out 14-year-olds into the outside, unequipped (well, except that they can bring only ONE thing) and expected to fight and hunt for the next 11 years.
The point of view switches between 4 characters, Sean, Elise, Abby and Sam and through it, you're able to understand their state of mind as well as their experiences outside the wall. Each character deals with loss, love, guilt and fear but they continue to fight on to put a stop to this twisted rule. Every chapter, the characters are faced with a struggle that's pulling them back or some motivational talk from one another to keep them sane.
There were some unexpected plot twists in the story that will keep you on your toes. You'll begin to wonder who is the bad guy here and who else is working with him. However, you'll still have faith knowing the fighting spirit of the characters.
The whole story was well developed, leaving no place for any uncertainty. All the questions I had while reading the book were answered in the next few chapters. It was clear that there weren't any plot holes.
I love the way each character, despite facing so many hardships and loss are selfless, knowing that not only to stay alive for themselves but for their close ones as well. I've grown attached to them and wanted them to win. However, it all comes with a price.
With Nimbus, you should always expect the unexpected. Perhaps not, since it might get to you before you get to it. Nimbus isn't the end. There's more to come.
I must say that this book would be awesome as a graphic novel. It had a darkness that would translate wonderfully. The story is like taking The Purge and Hunger Games, mixing up those concepts while throwing a society back in time too. I look forward to learning more about how are future became this subjugated and sinister world. Mr. Miller is thoughtful in his writing style, with a clear understanding of depression and love. The editing is well done with only around a dozen errors throughout, and none that are so impacting that they leave you confused. I highly recommend this book to all dystopian readers!
I really enjoyed this book on many levels and I would really like to see it come to life as movie!! It is more than a young adult book to me, I liked that it held nothing back and it was more graphic than some books I have read in this genre. My favorite thing about the book is that you get to read as all the main characters, getting different points of views, which you do not get from a lot of books! Can't wait to finish the trilogy!
I really enjoyed the book overall. Near the end, the main villain felt a little disjointed from what I thought. I loved getting to know each of the characters, and I can’t wait to read the next book!
This book will suck you in and flip your head upside down. I got invested in each characters storyline and found myself questioning the integrity and the intentions of newly introduced characters. A few times I was yelling, “WHY!?” When the author took the plot in a direction I didn’t see comingnor that I didn’t want to go in. I’m excited for the next one in this series to be released.
Amazing book! Once I started it was so hard to put the book down. From start to finish it had suspense, twists, turns, and hope. I can't wait for the next book!
The set up and the suspense of meeting the characters in the second book was amazing, it was definitely unique. There was a lot of plot twist moments that I didnt expect at all. I love how it switches between 3 peoples POV and how we can really feel what they feel and know what they are thinking. This book really knew how to hit my feels and may I just say I almost cried a couple times while reading, I definitely recommend it to people who like thriller, suspense, and a little bit of romance.
This story was ok. Same old same old storyline. Characters were not unique. I kept reading just to see if anything new would happen. Took me a very long time to finish.
