Another excellent book by Author Alisa Woods. This perfectly paced book was full of great characters, the ones you love and the creepers ya love to hate. Oriel is an Angeling sent to watch over a very gifted and extremely intelligent scientist Lizza. He is under cover acting as her body guard. She is in a lot of danger from paranormal beings, due to her work. She works with one other scientist, who doesn't believe in her work. Oriel spends most all his time with Lizza watching over her and taking out paranormal beings, without her knowledge. However, she does become aware of Oriel and things become quite complicated. We also get Tajael in this book, the Angeling from book 1 which was also a great read. The characters are very believable, the story smooth and enticing. I suggest you get some sleep before you start this book, because you won't get any once you've begun reading it, you won't want to put it down long enough. You can always be assured of a great read with Author Alisa Woods. I know I always enjoy her books.

Nope. Nope nope nope! As soon as the hero fucked a woman that was NOT the heroine, and gave his virginity to someone else, I dropped it. Sex with other people, unless it's supposed to be 'that sort of book', is not what I think belongs in a love story.

So disappointed. And kind of pissed off actually.

I did not expect, nor did I like, what happened halfway into the story. . It really did not sit well with me. . So I stopped and read several reviews to determine whether I wanted to keep reading, and I came to the conclusion that I did not. Apparently, the part I objected to would continue. So rather than read what I knew would upset me, I decided to cease reading. Very disappointing. I'd read and enjoyed the first book of the series, Tajael. And I had been enjoying Oriel right up until about the 50% mark.

This one breaks the cardinal rule of romance….

No cheating! I am assuming it was just to give the virgin some credibility for being great bed? I don’t know but it left a horrible taste in my mouth.

Title: Oriel
Author: Alisa Woods
Genre: Adult Paranormal Romance
Format: Ebook - ARC
Pages: 303
Rating: 5
Heat: 5

Thoughts: Ooooh, quite the twist in this one but I loved it. And I adored Lizzie, she’s someone I know I would have a blast hanging out with. And I would not complain having someone like Oriel as a boyfriend, but I think it’s the wings that I would love the most lol. I’d probably annoy him with my wanting to fly all the time lol. That would be so cool, granted Oriel didn’t do that in the book but that’s where my mind goes. That and of course touching them all the time, again that’s just me. He’s still worthy of the title book boyfriend.

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work and chose to write a review.

I have read a lot of Alisa Woods books, but I was very disappointed by this one. It is my least favorite series and definitely my least favorite book. As far as this series goes, I don’t understand why Markos would risk losing his fully grown, experienced angelings to the Fall, just for the possibility of angeling babies. Especially with war seeming imminent. And I don’t really like the whole men outliving the women so the women having babies to give the angelings something to remember them by. I am hoping that gets resolved in a later book.

Both of these books have seemed rushed. There were things that could have played a bigger part or been resolved but weren’t. Like Charlotte’s stalker ex in the first book. She made it seem like she was sort of in hiding from him, and I fully expected him to cause some problems at some point. But he never did and it really seemed like the whole point of his existence was to give Charlotte some emotionally damaging past. And we were told about that past and it’s effects on her, but weren’t really shown it. The same with the main characters romance. We were told the were in love but I didn’t really get to see it their interactions were kind of limited.

But I think what I disliked most was that in this book the hero had sex (lots and lots of sex) with another woman even though he supposedly loved the heroine. And he brought that other woman to a meeting with the heroine. Ugh. I just couldn’t get over that. For me it just tainted every scene between the two main characters after that.

I will probably read the next one, but I’m hoping it will be much better or I won’t read them anymore.

11 books later, a whole agonizing overarching plot from the previous series (Fallen Kingdom) this book clearly gave me the final nail in the coffin to DNF the series for myriad of reasons:

1. the villains from fallen kingdom series book 1, 10 books ago, are still the same villains that this new series is still dealing with. each book they always won, they dont get their dues so hah you'll meet them again in the next book because hey what if this is the book they'll be defeated? jokes on you, read the another next book and try again. rinse, lather, repeat. so yes, this is so annoyingly dragged out and it isn't amusing. clearly the author lacks new ideas

2. i thought the world building was fun at first, until it became clear that the author would not expound more or to add necessary details. what woods has written in the first series is still the same unchanging world she has written in the first series, sure this is the same universe but you would expect that since this deals with a different main characters (angelkind for this series, dragonkind from the previous) that there would be more world building, that the author would just develop it, and at least EXPLAIN, SHOW rather than TELL, instead what i got is lazy writing. it stopped developing. and its sooo bad because you're gonna get supplied by the same details again and again. dont expect something new with each book bc guess what, the author lacks new ideas.

3. what's up with the enthusiastic cheating by the mc's in these two series? miss alisa woods you and i need to talk. once is understandable, but having it in almost every book in these two series? is there something im missing or. hmm, clearly the author must be lacking some new ideas for them to overly use cheating trope in every book?

4. "strong female heroines loving their males" lies, me thinks. almost ALL the characters here are so poorly written, heroines will literally bend over just to pander to their mc, dont even fight back when shit is being done to them, lose all sense of self-respect bc "uwu i love him true love conquers all" guess what HE JUST CHEATED BEHIND YOUR BACK, so ofc since they're the main couple, cheating gets swept under the rug, all is well, here have his babies, girl become a stay at home mom and let the men do the protecting and stay inside these wards in my castle because iTs dAnGerOus OutSide. (i wish i was kidding but yeah, thats what all the heroines are doing rn after their book is done, they pop out the baby then ciao)

- only strong heroine here in this two-series is Erelah, angel in her own right, who literally fought in battles and is more powerful than her mc, but oh well, the author made her another stay at home mom after she popped out her baby so another one bites the dust. we need new ideas, @ author!

5. dont think i will forget the graphic detail of countless sexual assault that happened in these books. need freaking new ideas author, pls I BEG

6. so i really dont know what possessed me to read all the books to this one, but im sure i can tell you that it was this hope that maybe the author will finally stop letting the good guys always lose and be the punching bags of the evil guys because, if they were so powerful, immortals, why cant they win a single battle? so weak. (oh yeah, this is a reoccurrence for each book, like i said, author had no new ideas so another recycling it is!) and then i get disappointed when villain won again. villain = 15 good guys = 2. sigh.

On the other hand, these two series have only two good thing in common that i should compliment: the porn part.

ANYWAYS. i MIGHT still read ONLY one, just one, book in this series, dont know when, but i might read Erelah's dad book. he's a pretty great guy. despite losing sometimes and being generally useless. like the other main mc's from previous books, so here's to hoping Razael wont disappoint me.

before i forgot, here's my separate review for this book:

— dont read it. there's cheating. nothing much happened aside from the mc enthusiastically getting it on with the ow while feeling twinges of ache remembering the supposed love of his life that he abandoned after just one kiss. i really did not fucking lie when i said nothing new happened in this book, aside from the boring experiments, faux laughable science stuff (woods tried, gotta give it to them) it recycled the same stuff that happened so many books ago. formula so obvious, gee.

the way i really wrote this long af review... clearly you can see how frustrated i was 🥴 supposed to be enjoying these series but instead in the end all it gave are NOTHING and HEADACHE.

In this second book of series, the scientific project to cross into another dimension continues to improve. Although the subsequent results are not clear, some of the Immortals are opposed to the idea.

Oriel, the angel of light is one of the guardians responsible for one of the scientist's safety, in view of any impending attacks from the opponents.

Elizabeth aka Lizza is a brilliant scientist who has yet to complete her studies. Charlotte, the scientist responsible for the project has recruited Lizza to help because of her expertise.

Not wanting to miss the one in a lifetime opportunity, Lizza takes a sabbatical to join the team. Upon meeting Oriel, her guardian, she is stunned by his looks, but can't quite understand his behaviour. He appears to be gauche in this situation. He is attracted to the light in her soul, despite the little taint of darkness. He wants nothing more than to "heal" her. It's not the only thing that comes to his mind. Acting on his thoughts and feelings spells disaster. Once Lizza becomes aware of his nature, she understands his behaviour. That doesn't stop her from having her own fantasies. Will they get carried away and hope for the best?

This installment goes more deeply into the scientific experiment. The Shadow Angels would like nothing better than to stop the project. They are becoming brazen with their attacks and danger is always looming. The unexpected and not so pleasant twist makes for a compulsive read. It's action packed and the sex scenes are explicit. It ends on a good note, but the war isn't over. It will be interesting to see where it goes with Asa's story. A good concept with a blend of science and paranormal.

I was kindly issued with an eARC from the author and the views expressed are my personal opinion.

Oriel is an angeling of the light and is protecting human Elizabeth who is one of the scientists helping to push the technology forward to breach the barrier between the mortal and immortal realms. Elizabeth has a broken soul and he feels drawn to her and her beauty as well as the need to fix her soul for her. Elizabeth dropped everything to work on the secret science project as she had vowed to do fulfil their dreams for her after losing her father to cancer at 16 and her mother in a car crash a few months later. So when Dr Netherman invited her she knew it was her chance to do just that. But her hot, sweet and kind personal bodyguard makes her want to break every rule against dating that she has. In the war that is threatening mortals and immortals alike the Angels of Light vow to protect humanity but they will be tempted by the promise of love.

I really enjoyed this story which has the tortured and tormented Oriel who fell in love with Elizabeth and fought his attraction to her only to fix her and fall, to then be able to still help the light and be saved again by the pure love that they had for each other. Full of danger, drama, some magic and a little sexual content. I enjoyed the perspective that it might feel like a fall but our love is just that - love. Easy to read and understand.

Tempted beyond reason can he hold on or will he fall to shadow

Oriel had a job to do and that was keep Elizabeth (Lizza) safe the two scientists where making loads of progress, but Oriel could see into Lizza's soul and he could see a break he so wanted to mend for her. Seeking Tajael for help he wanted to give her a life kiss but Tajael said that would be dangerous for Oriel but he was determined anyway, giving Lizza a life kiss was the easy part until lust hit him and al, he wanted to do was kiss her hold her and love her. The minute that happened his wings turned black he had fallen he must escape get out and hopefully die. He didn't get far a shadow angling took hold of him and whisper him away to her lair, Terah was going to enjoy this new flesh for as long as possible f*cking him in any and all positions as was possible and making him darker as she could. Lizza was mortified at what had just happened it was her fault she pressured him and now he was fallen. This story is both sad and happy a must read for those who have read any of Alisa Woods books she draws you in (almost like making love) so that you are unable to put the book down until the end. Highly recommend read

This second book in the Fallen Angels series really surprised me. It went in a different direction that I expected based on the other stories.

Oriel is struggling with his vow of chastity. He is very attracted to the young woman he is assigned to protect. Giving in to the attraction would very likely cause him to fall.

She also struggles with her feelings for him and doesn't want to jeopardize his future. She has devoted her life to science since her parents both died. It has left no time for men or romance.

The story really surprised me and does go in a dark direction. I do enjoy being surprised but I know some people will be upset with the choice the author makes. It does make for an interesting read.

I encourage you to read the other book in the series as well as the earlier books featuring some of the characters. They are great reads if you enjoy romances with lots of different paranormal characters including angels, witches, dragons and the fae.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

“Oriel” is the 2nd book of the Fallen Angels series. Although I haven't read book 1, I had no problem understanding and enjoying book 2. I was captivated from the first page reading through the night. Oriel is a an Angel of the Light and is assigned to guard Lizza. Lizza is a physics grad student who has been recruited by Charlotte to help develop a portal to another dimension. This task is very dangerous since there are factions extremely opposed to humans being able to travel to other dimensions. The more Oriel and Lizza work together the more they are attracted to each other. It would be a dreadful mistake if Oriel acted upon his attraction to Lizza. Even a kiss can send Oriel plummeting into the shadow realm and be lost forever. The action, suspense, conflict, betrayal, love and lust make this book an amazing read. “Oriel” is a one-click must.

I really enjoy reading this author's books.
I enjoyed most of this book, such as the build up between Oriel and Lizza. However, with how quickly he made love to another woman without much convincing threw me a bit. He did it for information, but for someone in love it was decided quite fast.
I completely respect the theme is forgiveness and sin, so I get why it happened. A bigger build up to that decision and his forgiveness afterwards would have flowed better for me. I did enjoy the theme of the book and it made sense it being angels etc.
I love the world building with the different creatures and how sin works. I loved Lizza's work and the build up to transporting. I really like their powers and hierarchy.
Terah was my favourite as she was very open and took what she wanted. She was there by circumstance and did what she needed to do.
The book didn't take long to read, so I read it mostly in one go. Overall, it's worth a read and I would continue the series.

Exciting book

Oriel is the assigned guardian for Lizza. She was brought in to help Charlotte with the dimension drive, to figure out how to bring things back that were sent. Also to find out where they go and if they could send living things through.
Lizza had a pure soul except for a darkness because of the loss of her parents. Oriel wants to give her the kiss of life as a blessing to heal her but because of his feelings for her he risks turning into a shadow angeling.
When something goes wrong on the project, Lizza's darkness gets worse. So Oriel takes the risk and turns shadow.
Now he is a warrior for Elyon. Read to find out .... what happens to him in the shadow realm, what is happening to the war, and what is going on with the experiment to travel dimensions.
Lots of excitement happening and I can't wait for the next book!

Very good story and a most enjoyable read.

In this series that's a spin off of Alisa Wood's Fallen Immortal's series, light angelings (half angel, half human babies taken from their mothers and raised by angels) are engaged in a war to protect humans from the darkness. Within the darkness are fallen angels and dark angelings, dark fae, light fae, and vampires. Humans don't know these beings exist along side them. The light angelings are the main subjects of these stories. They constantly fight against their human half to remain in the light. The great sins of lust, wrath, envy, and pride seem to be their biggest downfall and many have fallen from grace and turned dark.

In this book Oriel, an angeling charged with protecting Lizzie, a scientist, must fight against his growing desire and lust for her, even as he finds himself falling in love with her.

Nope!! It was bad enough that he lost his virginity to another woman but for 2 plus days of non-stop sex and then to read about every detail and how much he enjoyed it!! Only then to tell the woman he cared about all about it when she thought he was being tortured in the underground because of her. He also starts to care for the other shadow angel too🤦‍♀️ Really ...and then still wanted sex with her too! And with this one act, returns him to the light... wow!!

With that said... this series is about actual angels and their children so...the power of forgiveness is the basis for each book🤷‍♀️ As shown, when she forgave his sex-a-thon in the shadow world and still allowed him to be her 1st only only. At least he now knows how to pleasure her from his experience learned. Maybe she'll even thank the other shadow angel ...one day🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader's copy of this book.
It was a decent read that held my attention, definitely not a book I would re-read though. Something about this story just didn’t appeal to me as well as others by this author. This flowed well, the world building is continuing off of Tajael’s book. A reader might feel a little lost without reading that first. The characters are not some of the best created by this author. Oriel is alright, but somehow I wasn’t as thrilled with him as I would have liked to have been. Lizza though, was not memorable for me, I’m not sure I even liked her. The plot took an unexpected twist, which I think will not be appreciated by many, I know I wasn’t thrilled.

I loved Oriel and Lizza both, but there were a couple of things that I didn't like in this one. I saw some of it coming, but was hoping against hope certain things wouldn't happen. I wanted certain things to only be between them. I understand the why's of what I didn't like, but just can't get past it (yes, stubborn as can be!). I liked the science breakthroughs being offered up here. Delving into another realm or dimension is fascinating and this is not just touched on, but fully embraced with this book. I love that we get to visit our other angelings and friends, but I kinda want a dragon or two to pop up.

This one is not your usual read and the author keeps you feeling what her characters feel. Both Oriel and Lizza feel the attraction towards one another and Oriel fights to keep from falling into Sin. Lizza tries to friend zone him after Charlotte explains things to her. Things take on a darker feel after Oriel falls, especially since he fell after healing Lizza's soul. The war is fast approaching, the Angels of Light are now working with Razeal's regiment of dark angels and Elyon is recruiting. You feel the change of pace as the story unfolds and wonder where are we going next.

I received an ARC of this story and have voluntarily chosen to review it here.

Oriel

Oriel is an Angeling of the Light. He has watched as Erelah, another Angeling of the Light, found love with a Dragon Shifter Aleck and ensured the renewal of the Treaty safeguarding humans while remaining an Angeling of the Light. He then watched as Tajael fell in love with Charlotte and managed to stay an Angeling of the Light. He had to battle the envy that he felt and was appalled when he was made Guardian to a new biophysicist Elizabeth. She was so beautiful to his eyes that he had to fight to keep his distance.
Anyone who likes Alisa Woods other books will like this. Very light and easy to read.

Oriel (Fallen Angels 2) Alisa Woods is a Master Storyteller!

Oriel is the second book in Fallen Angels series & OMG everyone will want to save him! Alisa Woods is the most incredible author. She keeps you on edge of your seat, your Kindle steaming and you will read late into the night.

This is the story of Oriel and Elizabeth (Lizza) The human scientists are moving forward with their experiments with dimensional travel. Oriel is drawn to Lizza like it would be a life changing experience! Cannot tell you more as it would be a spoiler. No spoilers here, you must read for yourself.

Oriel was a great read. I caught a glimpse of him in Tajael's book and was hoping he would be one of the angels to get a book. He did not disappoint. His book is an emotional rollercoaster of ups and downs as you can almost feel what he feels. He struggles so much. You just want to reach in the book and hug him. Lizza is so smart. She is perfect for this angel. I can't wait for the rest of the books and hope the author adds another book to her collection. These Fallen Angels are sinfully delicious. I volunteered to read this book.

Love is not a Sin.💕

Another well written story from the mind of Alisa Woods.
No disappointment here, just wish I didn't have to wait for the release of Bk3, Asa's story.
Have enjoyed Oriel & Elisabeth's story immensely & agree wholeheartedly with all review's of 4 star's and more.
Note: I would recommend that you start with Alisa Woods series "Fallen Immortals" (The Dragon brother's Princes) first, the start of it all.
Thank you Ms Alisa Woods for keeping me sublimely entertained.

This book kept me reading way into the night! Lizza has plans to travel into another dimension as soon as the machine is safe. It is a vow she made to her dad to do something great. Oriel is assigned to watching over her. He gets sent the shadow realm and learns things to help the angels of light. Can he survive being fallen? Will he and Pizza have their happily ever after? Will the angels of light win the war? Read on to find out! You will love all the excitement and romance.

This is the second book in the Fallen Angels Series. Oriel is on a mission to protect Lizza while working a secret project. War is looming and the end of the world may be close at hand even worse Oriel finds himself drawn to the one he is to protect. He as taken a vow of chastity, will he fall? Plenty of drama and suspense. Lizza and Oriel have steamy chemistry. I really liked this addition to the series.

This was a sexy continuation of Alisa Woods fallen angel series, with Oriel having his own happy ending with Lizza. I personally did find it difficult to wrap my mind around why kissing Lizza made him fall, but having sex with her redeemed him, but overall it is an enjoyable read and if you just read to enjoy it is fun

Great

You should read the first book before this one. It’s been awhile since I have read the first book so at first I was trying to piece things together, was lucky enough to be able to remember the first book and then also be able to place the story with the fallen immortals series also. Hope I don’t have to long till the next book may not be able to piece it back together.

It had a very good beginning and ending. The middle dragged a little for me, but I would still recommend it. It was not quite as good as the first book in the series. I am, however, looking forward to the next book about Asa the fallen angel.

Fabulous

Another beautiful angeling, Oriel, who meets and falls in love with a biophysicist Charlotte. Of course he thinks this is a Sin and falls to the dark side run by the worst of the fallen angels, Elyon. This is wonderful story of strength, love and hope.
