‘The art of promoting your book with ingenuity’

Netherlands author/entrepreneur Richard McCartney knows the business of writing and promoting and selling books as well as anyone in this field. He is an astute businessman – he is the founder of KindleBookReview and KindleBookPromotions - and in a relatively short time has become the go-to man for authors searching for a means to being ‘discovered’ and then continuing to sell their products as they write them. To this end, he has published his own books in an important and very useful series – SELF PUBLISHING TOP 5 CHEAT SHEET - THE UNOFFICIAL AUTHORS GUIDE TO BUYING AND SELLING YOUR BOOK ON AMAZON is Book 1, SELF-PUBLISHING: THE SECRET GUIDE TO BECOMING A BEST SELLER is Book 2, and now SELF PUBLISHING DISRUPTION is Book 3. If Richard doesn’t have the answers writers seek, he is sure to search until he does – or create a new forum to fill that gap.

Richard’s sense of humor pervades his writing, keeping everything in perspective while he dishes out his secrets he has learned from his own experience. For openers, after presenting the focus of the book, he states – ‘So what’s the secret behind Disruptive Marketing? Well, it simply uses unconventional techniques that most big publishers cannot use themselves. So it definitely gives you an advantage over them, and a good start over the many others not using these techniques. It also gives you insights into how Amazon algorithm works, and even how the mind of the impulse buyer on Amazon works. And believe me, it’s not so difficult to trick or (as marketers would say) “persuade” the Amazon website to favor your book, or many of the thousands of book readers who visit the site…For Disruptive Marketing campaigns to be successful authors need to leverage their agility and make fast and easy changes to their book in Kindle Direct Publishing, and work with their street team or small fan base through a series of emails sent to them, It’s simple and fast to execute.’

Sound too good to be true? In Richard’s wise and experienced hands the strategies he offers are comfortably accessible ways to present your book to the outside world from selecting the most valuable title to finding the most advantageous categories for marketing. Everything is clearly explained, including excellent graphics, and the momentum the book creates is powerful.

Richard closes this valuable resource by stating, ‘Disruptive Marketing doesn’t require you to become an aggressive salesperson, or expert in advertising…Your ingenuity, imagination, and energy can often lead to important variations in the way you run these Disruptive Marketing efforts.’ Read this book and find the answers – from a man who understands this arena and KNOWS!

Yes,Liberating! Clearly Richard McCartney's book doesn't say it is easy to market a book. But it does give a realistic approach to marketing in the Self Publishing modern world. The book sets some discrete attainable step by step goals for how to get your book noticed. There is really no way to describe how important 'Self Publishing Disruption' is for all writers never mind independent writers. I had read some of McCartney's previous work on marketing, and this new book is an extension of those. We writers do so because we are compelled to. It is a blessing and a curse.

The truth is the thing that makes us write is often the polar opposite of how to get a book widely read. The process of sorting out a game plan for getting our books read is complicated, particularly if you do not know the rules of the game. When people seek agents that is precisely the obligation they are hoping to pass of to someone else. Perhaps back in the day -- before electronic independent publishing-- that was the only option. However, the status symbol of having an agent or a large publishing house does not preclude the need for a writer to know exactly how their book is being promoted and working to promote it themselves. The first thing your representation wants to know is what resources a writer is able to bring to the party.

Richard McCarney's 'Self Publishing Disruption' gives you part of the guide for how to trek through marketing and I think the information holds true either with representation, and a big time publisher, or when you are on your own. Further it offers ways of getting the tasks of marketing done which you certainly would not have intuited yourself with out a marketing background and probably not without McCarney's book.

A insightful and powerfully dynamic approach for marketing your book as an author.

Most authors, and in particular,  self-publishing authors, marketing your book on social media sites is the only way to go. Unfortunately, this is often an exhaustive and time consuming job with results that rarely work well. Using examples from his own books, the author shows how many of the features of Amazon and Kindle may be used effectively to dramatically grow the visibility and the exposure of your book. In other words, the author describes methods of effectively using the power of the Amazon algorithm and how it works. This method will certainly give all authors a valuable helping hand and an insight that is imperative for achieving vastly greater sales of their book. Marketing, is often a lower priority for many authors who concentrate on the actual writing and other issues that they consider more important. Although the writer highlights books of non-fiction, the powerful insights that he discusses may also easily be used for books of fiction. Additionally, he provides links and resources for authors who would still prefer to utilize professional marketers, in particular, identiying those who are competent. Whatever your choice is as an author, this is a dynamic and concise guide that forms an indispensable reference for all authors.

Self Publishing Disruption is an excellent book to navigate through self publication on the largest book retailer, Amazon. Authors can be peculiar creatures; independent and protective, but given the right tools we can prove our book has the same makings as one published by a publishing house.

This is where Richard McCartney has proven invaluable. He provides the tools, the “street team”, knowledge, and experience. Each of his books builds upon each other, educating the self publishing author of the advantages they have in Amazon placement. He is transparent and explains the step needed to get a good placement on Amazon so your book is read. He also explains what we should avoid in keeping a good ranking and changes Amazon has made that affects authors recently. I find all his books indispensable and keep them in my library for further reference.

As a self-published author, I am the target reader of Richard McCartney’s new book, Self Publishing Disruption. I have published two novels and have two more books in the works. In the process, I have experienced the apparently insurmountable difficulty of making my books visible to the online buying public.

The online publishing world has nothing in common with that of traditional publishing. I feel
McCartney’s book is the first of its kind to offer me realistic solutions.

Some books in the self-publishing help category offer little else than the recommendation to climb on the social media horse and ride it like hell. As McCartney points out, and as I have learned, that simply doesn’t work. Instead, McCartney, who has years of book promotion experience, talks about what he’s found to be the most effective method of becoming visible, an approach he calls Disruptive Marketing, which he equates with the guerilla tactics that allowed American colonists to defeat England’s vastly superior military might. In short, this approach is specifically aimed at short cutting or disrupting Amazon’s famous algorithm to hopefully ensure that your book flirts with best-seller rankings, even if only for a brief period.

The tools are maximizing Amazon searches and mastering sale conversion rates. In other words, you have to learn how to talk Amazon’s language, or hire someone who knows how. By way of example, McCartney shares the extraordinary fact that Amazon browser searches don’t use the categories provided to authors by Kindle Publishing. McCartney explains the importance of finding niche categories, in which you have a chance of reaching best-seller status, and how to get Amazon to create those categories for you.

The book is an eye-opener.

Richard McCartney’s “Self Publishing Disruption: marketing tips that work so well it feels like cheating” is quite different from most of the other self publishing guidebooks and marketing manuals I have read in the past. Some of the tips given in the book do almost feel a bit like cheating or gaming the system, but as the author states, they are all perfectly legit and acceptable to Amazon. I do know for a fact that many of the tips given in this book do work, I’ve seen it happen with other self published authors I know. Book marketing really is a game of strategy, and once you figure out how to play the game, it isn’t nearly as hard as it looks at first. These strategies may not shoot you into the superstar stratosphere of publishing, but they will certainly help your book to draw attention and climb its way up Amazon’s ranking systems, which is what most authors really want anyhow.

Self-Publishing is sort of a self-help book written by an expert in writing and book publishing, Mr. Richard McCartney. Mr. McCartney is well known for his help to the authors in promoting and publishing their work. This book is actually the embodiment of Mr. McCartney’s pieces of advice and hints for everyone who wants their work to be published and thus to reach success.
The “core’’ of the book is something the author calls “The Disruptive Marketing.’’ As we read about it, it may seem, as this “rule’’ is something that can appear as somewhat not allowed. However, regardless of how it may seem, the rule is still within the Amazon rules, so it is okay. Why the Disruptive Marketing is so beneficial, or better said – why it should be so beneficial to the authors? The answer on that question lies in the fact that with knowing and properly applying this rule, the authors will have the upper hand in comparison to all other authors who are not aware of certain things this rule applies to and writes about. We live in new, digital age. In order for every author to reach success and for his work to be published and recognized, he needs to know how to achieve success. Every advice is helpful, especially those given by a man, which knowledge and professionalism helped so many. The book is easy to read, and regardless of the fact that it is short, it still contains everything the author wanted to put in it. Overall, Self-Publishing is a masterpiece of its own.

I got this book to help my sister. She is a self published author and she was having trouble getting her book noticed. As I have a blog I read a lot of books and know hers is good. And this has been so wonderfully helpful. I got this book on the 20th and she has already implemented some of the techniques and had a wonderful Christmas surprise. As several copies of her book sold. So this book is almost a cheat. But I will take that any day.

If you’re an author and looking to self-publish a book, this novel is something you’ll want to check out. Author Richard McCartney gives helpful marketing tips and advice as to how you can land on best-seller lists and gain new readers. It includes topics like challenges that authors face today, why you need to pay attention to controlled conversion rates, and how you can land on Amazon’s best-seller list.

Besides giving useful information for upcoming writers, McCartney works to make this book interesting. It doesn’t just list things you need to do and consider, but is humorous and creative. He incorporates ideas and examples from history and pop culture to help encourage you as to how you can publish and sell your book.

At 98 pages this book isn’t necessarily that long making it ideal for many to read. It’s well-written and creative which will make putting the book down hard to do.

Richard McCartney’s, “Self Publishing Disruption: Marketing Tips that Work so Well it Feels like Cheating,” is a guide on how to make your amazon book become successful by looking at various criteria that can pique the interest of readers. McCartney utilizes a concept that promotes your book through different avenues that make your book pop to potential readers. It helps to bring the book up on the reading lists, making it more visible to a wider number of people, therefor opening up your opportunities for more readers and reviews. This is a form of self-promotion and as a new novelist, it can be very expensive to create and advertise your novel, so trying to cut costs and be as effective as possible is your goal when you start early. It was very easy to read and understand what McCartney is explaining with the techniques and there are even pictures to help further explain how to promote.

A new strategy has arrived on how to learn to promote your book, or any kind of creation.
Marketing is everything these days, with people moving more and more into the virtual world and start doing jobs online, more people are willing to take risks, and that means to write a book, to start selling your creations online or any of that.
The best part about this book besides the very insightful information it possess, is that it provides steps for newcomers and regular ones, and not a simple list of steps you should, the key word here is being ‘creative’ and it also shows it really well in this book with a lot of creativity in each page.
Even if you are not interested in knowing how to self-publish your creations, give this book a chance, it gives a sense of confidence about not worrying or limited your imagination; the power is in your hands.

Decent How to Book. The book is a repeat of some other of Richard McCartney's books

While the book is worth reading, there is repetition of advice found in Richard McCartney's other books written on Self Publishing. His books on self publishing, all seem to have the same meta-message, promoting his company's publishing platform.

Book 1 & 2 in series were great.
To me, book 3 was just a re-hash and not much more information (although it was the most expensive)
