Thirty-something Pippa Welbury lives in a small cottage overlooking Polperro bay in Cornwall. Working part-time as a vet's assistant, she spends her time walking her scruffy, yet adorable dog Benjamin along the Cornish cliffs and beaches.

Just as life seems to be slipping into a period of adequacy, a brief encounter with the man of her dreams seems to offer potential. The problem is, he's with someone!

Following the disappointing rendezvous at the local pub, and determined to cast off her mood of melancholy, Pippa decides to try her hand at baking. What the resulting Cornish pasty lacks in looks, it certainly makes up for in size! Only, whilst waiting for it to cool, unbelievably, it vanishes from her kitchen. Pippa is furious; not only was it her first attempt at baking the regional speciality, it had been ear-marked for a worthy cause.

Chance leaves Pippa with a dilemma when she discovers that at the top of her list of suspects is that very same man she had met just the day before.

Can Pippa uncover how the fruit of her baking disappeared, and will she like what she discovers?

Cute little mystery novella. Pippa bakes a Cornish pasty and it goes missing from her window while it is cooling
I learned a new word for rutabaga— Swede. I never heard that but Britain has a few words different that USA.
It has a surprise twist at the end but I won’t spoil it.
Good writing and didn’t notice any grammatical errors which is my pet peeve.
I was given an e-copy of this book in return for an honest review. That did not effect my review.

Jumping in feet first might be a big mistake

A good little coffee break read. Yes the mystery is a missing cornish pasty. However it's a bit tongue in cheek and it just underlines the importance of having all the facts before you jump to conclusions. The characters are still in the building phase although you can already tell that the FMC is a bit quicker of the mark.
She's finished another week and walking home from the bus stop she spies the girl clearing up and the sight of a delicious looking cornish pasty has her tummy rumbling. Unfortunately the business is closed but she determines to bake one the next day. A whopper - golden brown and smelling fab. Just have to wait for it to cool down by the open window. Next thing she knows it's gone! Was it the teachers she saw? Or was it the handsome man she saw in the pub with his designer clad girlfriend? Add in a plate, reporting the crime and finally getting the truth.

I don't do book reviews.......

I don't do book reviews like you keep seeing, as I find that some give too much of the plot away and I personally hate that, as it makes the book not worth reading. I much prefer to take the authors back cover write up as a review as it can either intrigue you enough to read the book of provide you enough information to make you decide that the book is not for you.
My review rules are: The more stars, the more I liked it.
If there are too many typos or errors the less stars I give
If the storyline or plot is poor or contains too many errors, the characters are too weak, the ending lacking something, then the less stars I give.
Simple, uncomplicated and to the point without giving anything away.
Some of the books I read have been given to me by the author as a pre-release copy and this does not bias my reviews in any way

As someone who loves Cornwall this was a thoroughly enjoyable shortish read. I found the descriptions of the Cornish countryside to be very evocative, the characters were interesting and varied, and very well written and the mystery itself was enjoyable and amusing.
I fully intend to read some more of this series and hope that they are as light, fun and enjoyable as this one.
