M/M Age Play Romance

Eric knows what he needs…he just doesn’t think anyone else will want it too.

He’s finally reached his breaking point. There’s only so many times he can put himself out there and get shot down. After a disastrous first date at a BDSM club, Eric is ready to walk away and push his desires to the furthest reaches of his mind—but then up walks Marcus. But just because the sexy older man is looking for a submissive doesn’t mean he’s looking to be someone’s daddy.

Marcus knows what he wants, and he’s spent months getting everything perfect for his boy…now he just needs to find him.

When Marcus sees Eric at Bound & Controlled, he’s immediately drawn to the sweet submissive who’s desperately trying to hide his devastation. Marcus steps in when he sees the sub’s evening going wrong, but he’s not sure what the shy submissive is looking for. Just because he wants the boy to need a daddy doesn’t mean he’s going to get what he hopes for.

As they discover their mutual desires, Marcus is sure that Eric has the strength to go after what he yearns for; he just needs his daddy’s help and love to see it.

Well, this was different.

I was imagining myself a Daddy kink expert after I’ve read and enjoyed Power Play by Cara Dee. Boy, was I wrong.

This book is full on age play. I mean, a nursery, bottles, sippy cups, diapers, toys, the whole shebang. When I discovered this while reading I was determined to not let this deter me in my enjoyment. Although it’s not my kind of kink, I wanted to ‘see through’ this and enjoy the relationship between Marcus and Eric.

What I like about Daddy kink is the caring the Daddy does for the sub/little. I like that the little doesn’t have to think about anything. That’s the same reason I like BDSM books where the Dom takes care of the sub.

But I do have to admit that bottles, sippy cups and diapers are so not my thing.

Yes, Eric and Marcus were sweet together. And I loved how Marcus constantly took care of Eric. And I liked that this book started out with Eric being so shy and embarrassed about wanting to be a little. Because that made Marcus act slow and careful around him and we were introduced slowly to the age play, just as Eric was.

But unfortunately as Eric grew more comfortable with being a little, the focus of this book got and more more on their age play as well. I felt as if there was less time with simply Marcus taking care of Eric and more on Marcus getting Eric to be comfortable wearing a diaper during his nap. And if that is your thing, go for it! But it’s not my thing.

I was weirdly fascinated by this entire book I have to admit. Yes, it squeaked me out, but I couldn’t stop reading to see what they would do next.

I might even try the next book. Although I hope they skip the diaper talks this time. If they don’t mention it I can at least pretend it’s not there.

Yeah, I adored it, but of course I did! This one of my favorite kinks, after all.

Warning: Silent Strength is a daddy kink and age play story. Be prepared.

In the world of BDSM, daddy kink is my favorite. I'll eat up any daddy kink story, especially with strict, loving daddies. *dreamy sigh*

Sure, this book isn't that much different from the other age play book I've read from M.A. Innes, but that's just fine with me. I'm such a fan of the way this author writes daddy kink relationships that I'd probably read 100 stories with almost the same plot.

A very satisfying book for those who enjoy these types of stories.

I guess I'm a bit addicted to Daddy stories. 🤷🏼‍♀️ This is another one of those special age-play stories, surprisingly good, I honestly wasn't expecting it. M.A. Innes writes good smut and there's a bit of that here too, but primarily it's about how Daddy Marcus oh so lovingly slowly gets Eric to trust him and live out his dream of being little.

Someone had hurt the boy badly, but the need was so strong it hadn’t chased him away. 😥😢🤧

Eric is so scared and can't manage to talk about what he actually wants, what he needs. But Marcus still manages to read him. It takes so much love and dedication to achieve what they do, it gets me every time, I feel all warm inside and I could weep with happiness.

His endless patience while I sorted through the worries in my head was one of the qualities I loved best about him. He was always willing to give me time to work up the nerve to approach something that made me uncomfortable. ❤️🌈❤️

What could go wrong with a binki in your pocket?

To be honest, I had no idea what I was getting into before I picked up this book. Sure, I saw the age play on the cover and blurb, but in my mind, I thought “age gap.” Well, I learned something new. Age play is not age gap. Age play is not even Daddy Kink. It is far beyond that.

I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t yet reached a limit in what I’ll read. Taboo, schmaboo. As long as the writing is passable, I’m ok with it. Here, however, I started feeling slight niggles of that feeling that makes me squint my eyes and worry my lip. Not that I stopped reading it. Not at all. Not that I have an issue with people going for what they want and need to live fulfilling lives. It’s just the introduction of diapers makes me a bit squirmy, makes me bite my lip. And this is not in a turned on way, as might usually be the case if I’m squirming and biting my lip.

So we have a young man, Eric, who has been hurt in the past by letting his desires be known. Desires that involved having a Daddy to care for him as a father would for a little kid. He is a Little. He wants a Daddy Dom. Lucky for him he meets Marcus who is seeking a little to settle down with.

Most of this book involves Marcus both pushing Eric and giving him the space he needs to be OK with desiring the things he wants, since Marcus wants them too. Things such as playing with toys, and bath time, and bottles, and jammies, and binkis, and diapers. Marcus has a nursery all set up and ready to go, it’s just waiting for the right boy. Will Eric be the one?

This book definitely pushed my boundaries, which I think is a good thing. I did find parts of this sexy, others I frowned at. As a parent, I only wish it were so easy to parent a child as it is in these relationships (without the sex, of course). No tantrums, no whining, always obey your parent. But then, this isn’t a parent child relationship, this is an adult age play lifestyle.

Will I read the second book? Eric still hasn’t found his “normalcy” yet by the end of this one. I’m not sure. Maybe. But I’m OK leaving this story where it is for now.

I Love this book. There is no question that MA Innes, Writes the Best books when it comes to "Taboo" & "Kink" type subjects and this one was Great. And I have to say that this book was made so much better with the Narration from Kenneth. I loved listening to this story in Audio.
The DD/LB Relationship between Marcus and Eric is so Sweet and just progresses at a wonderful pace showing how perfect they are for each other. Eric is Adorable and Shy and isn't sure how to put into words what he wants after being completely embarrassed as a teen. Marcus is the Perfect Daddy for him, letting Eric know that its Completely Ok to want different things from other people. Kenneth does the best narration for both Marcus and Eric making their personalities really shine through for this story. He gives Eric a more "boyish" voice when needed and makes sure Marcus is all "Daddy". I really did love this book's narration and had a smile on my face the entire time I listened to it.
And even if it is out of your comfort zone its still worth a listen, or even just read this book, because the Author does such a good job making sure the ABDL subject tests your boundaries and wont push you too far into exploring everything in this specific lifestyle, but if you haven't been introduced to ABDL before this will be an eye opener and you will definitely be learning something new.
I cannot Wait to hear Book two in Audio...

Oh holy hot damn, that was amazing!!! Gah, I was so in the mood for some age-play and this just worked 100% of the time.

Those were two fantastic characters and they worked so well together - I completely fell in love with them. I can't wait to see how their relationship goes in Quiet Strength.

Also, I did the audio version of Silent Strength and truly enjoyed the performance by Kenneth Obi. It took a bit of adjustment on my part because of the way he used a different voice for the narrator vs. each of the main characters. In the end I really liked it because I never had to wonder if the character was speaking aloud or thinking in his head. He also completely pulls off the huge difference in these two guys' personalities. Very well done.

Oh boy....I love MA Innes...I really haven't read any of her books I've not loved and this one I think is very near the top.....I absolutely loved Marcus and I am adamant that he is mine....He is so good to Eric....Meeting him at Ben and Connors club (who we've met before) he takes Eric into his care and slowly gets to admit to what he wants...what he needs...They are perfect together.....I never realised how hot a book can be with a guy in diapers with a Binkie.....drinking from his bottle....But Marcus is the best Daddy for Eric and I can't wait for the next book...Perfectly done Ms Innes x

Audio Review: 4.5 Stars

I'm upping the rating for this, not only because Kenneth Obi nailed the narration, but because I got over the squick and in doing so loved how slowly the tale unfolded.

See, so many books have the precocious virgin or BDSM noob just jumping into the kink, and while I admire that kind of bravery, I feel like the way Eric's journey to acceptance progressed was more realistic - each step was a struggle. And I adored how Marcus guides him through it...so thoughtful & contemplative, never pushing too hard.

I can't wait to get to the next one now, to see just how far into the extreme age play Eric is willing to venture.

Original Rating: 4 Stars

For most of this book I kinda felt like Eric: slightly ashamed at how much I liked it, and really hesitant to admit to it in public like when it came time to write the review.

I totally appreciate the attraction of a Daddy Dom (hello, His Boy!) but I felt the whole extreme age-play aspect was always so difficult to understand. Well, the author completely solved that problem for me! I loved how much time it took to ease into the kink, how sweet and understanding and just so caring Marcus was toward Eric. Nothing was rushed, nothing was forced - until it needed to be addressed and then the Daddy had to do what he felt was best to help his Boy feel comfortable and accept his needs. Everything unfolded pretty gently.

Still not so sure about the diapers, though. Well, when I wake up at night and don't want to get out of a warm bed to go pee I can sort of see the appeal. But that's a practical purpose and not a sexualized one; kinda glad that the story didn't really go there more than as a clothing choice. (Odd, I know, considering I don't mind watersports, but that's something I'll need to work out...maybe by reading more books like this one.)

I do have to say I went on YouTube to find some Daddy Dom/little boy ASMR tracks and the ones I found were delightful! I tried ONE of the DD/little girl audios and was quickly skeeved out; I couldn't push the pause button fast enough to get away. Don't know why when the ones for lb's were both soothing and erotic. (Listen here to see what I mean for the ones targeting the male audience. I loved them; totally gave me the warm fuzzies.)

This book will definitely not appeal to everyone, but if you want to test your own boundaries and have an open mind about alternative/little explored (in fiction) kinks, you might like it. I was so very glad I took the chance.

Original Comment upon shelving this as TBR: Extreme Age Play (especially AB/DL with infantilism) is a hard hard-limit for me personally (I quit a decent Domme gig over it) but I have to say that I feel the need to read it from an outside perspective. (<----SO glad I did!)

Silent Strength is more than a story about two guys and their kinks. That may be the main topics, but a greater subtopic would be that it's about accepting yourself for who you are and not letting anyone tell you or make you feel that it's wrong. I hate stories that the characters spent three-fourths of the book hating themselves or trying to decide if they want to take a chance with one another, causing both parties to spend most of the book being miserable. A.M. Innes doesn't do that to her characters. She just lets them be happy and discover themselves and allows the reader to share their happiness. As a result, the writing turns out to be subtle and totally lacking unnecessary drama or angst. Eric had a devasting experience in school that lead to him leaving town and living with his aunt...but Eric's happy, real story starts years later when a dominant best friend convinces him to look at kink dating sites. As a result, he fills out a form and agrees to meet a potential "daddy" at the local club. His choice ends up being more the local predator than a daddy protector, but he is comforted by Marcus a real Daddy Dom, at the club. With some helpful interference from friends, who just happen to also be the club owners, both Marcus and Eric get their shot at a "happy ever after". This is a slow, sweet book. Marcus is committed from the start and patiently helps Eric discover who he is and what he wants. It is an interesting look at a Daddy/ boy relationship without feeling that the author is trying to lecture or to convert you, or to shock you. The story continues in book 2 but this can be read as a standalone. Of course, I have book #2

I came for the kink, but what I got was a super-slow beginners exploration of Eric's "Little" side. A side that he's been dealing with the shame of ever since he was "outed" as a kinkster in high school.

For 200 pages it's incremental baby steps between Eric and Marcus, due to Eric's hesitation, and when this book finishes Eric is only starting to really embrace his "Little" side--- queue a quite interesting scene involving an anal hook.

We get a lot of mild age play kink here, but only because Eric still can't ask for what he wants. One thing to note is that the author drops enough hints in this to assume that book 2 is going to bring out the big guns in regard to the age play, so I'm expecting a big pay off.

This whole book felt like a carrot that was being dangled in front of me. And while the relationship dynamic between Eric and Marcus intrigues me enough to wait for book 2, I can't help but feel that this didn't really need to be released in two parts. If the author cut out Lizzie, the pushy best friend, and the all-knowing Aunt Sylvia, I wouldn't have been sad.

**Depending on how part 2 plays out I may increase my rating, we will see. Thankfully this is on KU.**

Edited to add-5 December 2017
After reading book 2 my initial rating stands.

2.5 stars. There's no denying that this author is a great writer. Her main characters are always sweet and loveable. My main issue is that this particular kink is so specific that once you have read one book on this subject the others all just seem the same.

This was a really good read that I liked. Eric goes on a date to a BDSM club and it doesn't go so well he is looking for something and is not sure what he wants. Marcus is a hot sexy older Dom who is looking for a sub he steps in when he sees that Eric's date is going wrong. This was a good read Eric needs a "Daddy" and Marcus is not sure if he wants the job. Marcus was very patient with Eric he has been hurt in the past and has some dark demons. Eric who was afraid to ask for what he wants and needs was very sweet and shy. I really liked both of these MC's the sex scenes in this book were hot. I don't read a lot of Age play but this one was very good and well written. This was my first time reading this author's work and I will be adding some other books. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.

DNF. No can do. I've only read two age play books before, and I really enjoyed them but this one was too long and detailed, or something... I just couldn't get into the toys and bottle, and definitely bailed before we got to the diapers.

For me, it's non age-play Daddy kink for the win!

Oh god this book was boring. BORING! Innes, with dollar signs in their eyes, has clearly decided to drag this story out. Given how repetitive and droning this book was, they barely have enough material for one decent length book, but I expect it’ll end up being a trilogy.

Eric is carrying some trauma after having been aggressively shamed for his kink. When he’s older he’s finally pushed, by an overbearing aunt and a “get your own damn life” best friend, to find what he wants. One meet cute later and he’s starry eyed for Marcus.

Given how shrouded in mystery the prologue is, I expect the particular kink featured in this book is meant to be a surprise, so I won’t spoil it.

Pre Fifty Shades, I’d think Innes was brave for trying to make a little known kink mainstream. Post FSOG it just seems like a blatant cash grab with every wannabe billionaire author trawling BDSM sites to find the next fetish to be exploited.

This book goes on for sooooooo long with Eric slowly coming to terms with his kink. And I mean slowly. Slowly! With relentless inner monologue. Relentless and repetitive. Marcus is a cop. A fact he mentions about 72 times in the first chapter. Seemingly every paragraph of Marcus’s thoughts seem to be “I don’t know if it’s because I’m a cop, but....”

If Innes wasn’t so grasping, they might’ve had a good book on their hands. Trying to stretch out hardly there material (Peter Jackson Hobbit style) has resulted in a book that’s the equivalent of 50mins in and the Hobbits are still in the Shire, eating.

If someone lends you a copy, it may be worthwhile to read, hence two stars.

Eric meets Marcus at a BDSM/kink club after a meet up between Eric and another Dom goes wrong & Marcus steps in to help. Eric knows he wants an age play relationship but is unsure of how to find himself a Daddy. He joins the club in the hope to find what he needs. Eric is so shy, insecure and a little lost. When Marcus talks about his interest in age play Eric is intrigued but wary.

I really enjoyed watching them get to know each other. Watching Eric come out of his shell little by little. Marcus did a great job of helping Eric to see that his wants & needs aren't wrong or weird. He was the perfect Daddy, easing Eric into their play & giving him the time & confidence to admit & accept what he wants.
The books ends in a HFN & I look forward to the continuation of Marcus & Eric's story.
* I received an ARC from the author. This is a totally honest & unbiased review.

I really enjoyed Secrets in the Dark and Flawed Perfection, so I was excited when this book became available in audio form. And it was a well-written ageplay book about Eric and Marcus. Eric is a quiet sub-type that wants to be a daddy's boy but doesn't know how to ask for it. Marcus is a dom-type who yearns for a boy but hasn't found the right one. Obviously, they were a great match.

The author took us through the ageplay aspect well. I felt that if someone was new to this genre, they would have gotten a great sense of the type of play and how it can be fulling to someone. I appreciated that it also showed how a couple can "play" and also still be a couple when they aren't in their roles.

As a reader, I like to be taken to places that I haven't been personally, or cant go, or only want to fantasize about. I like taboo subjects, I like learning more about the real people that indulge in them and I like the erotic aspects too. This book had plenty of all three. The play scenes were still sensual without being over the top, and the sex scenes were very steamy.

Since I listened to the audio version, I want to comment on that as well. I think that Kenneth Obi did a great job bringing the characters to life. Marcus and Eric each had their own distinct voices. BUT, I felt that Marcus' internal monologue didn't sound like him.... it sounded like Eric. But when Marcus would speak, it was Marcus' voice. So that was a bit confusing, but overall it was done well.

Very much looking to book #2!

There is no right or wrong way for us to do this. This is our time and your space. Whatever we do and however we act is perfect, as long as it’s right for us. We go at our own pace

Best part? It's we , never just you . Gosh usually in most ABDL stories, things go from zero to hundred after the first day. Not here! This story takes its time. The characters really get to know each other at a natural, reasonable pace. The nervous sub still feels nervous—they’re not magically transforming into a ball of calm and contentment after locking eyes with a Daddy they’ve just met.

People in the reviews seem divided on the ABDL aspect—either loving it or thinking it's a bit too much. Excuse moi? Am I the only one who was focused on the emotional side of things? Don’t get me wrong, I usually enjoy the Abdl elements, I will be there for it! But this time, it felt like they took a backseat to the incredible emotional depth this book delivered. There was so much vulnerability, so much care, trust, encouragement, and pride that the Abdl elements almost faded into the background.
“I love you.” He blinked and I could see tears in his eyes. “You’re always thinking about me and putting me first…and everything you do is focused on making me feel stronger and proud of who I am…what I need. Thank you.”

We often found Marcus wondering what was going on inside his baby's adorable little head, while respecting that his baby didn’t need to share every single thought. Marcus not being a "Know-It-All Daddy"? Absolutely sexy . He always gave Eric enough time to organize his thoughts and helped him walk through them when he couldn't. I loved how he didn’t try to carry Eric through his challenges but instead offered a push when needed and walked beside him, watching over his baby with endless patience. It was incredible to watch—should I say read?
His endless patience while I sorted through the worries in my head was one of the qualities I loved best about him. He was always willing to give me time to work up the nerve to approach something that made me uncomfortable.

He was always so good about knowing when to push and knowing when to let me figure things out for myself.
Or even when to let me quietly freak out for a moment before stepping in to make things better.

Lastly I would love to read Nathan and Gabrial's story. They sound fun

Another Alternative Lifestyle story,
another "what could this author dream up now ?" feeling.

l know that l will start reading this story feeling a touch weird,
and end up with total love and sympathy for the characters.
The beauty of this author's writing is that there is nothing " very odd" out there,
nothing that she cannot explain, explore and enlighten us with.

In this story we have an older man, Marcus is a strong alpha policeman,
he is very wise and level headed, but is lonely.
He does not believe that he can find a " boy " that he can shower with
all his love and attention, as well as nurture him.

Eric is a bit of a loner, cast out by his family following a harrowing
incident in high school, he ends up living with his aunt.
He has a loyal friend in Lizzie, and together with his aunt they try to make him
more aware and open to his needs and desires.
However, Eric has been deeply affected by his past experiences and is protecting himself by hiding.

Why does Eric have such fantasies that involve being " little" and all that goes with it ?
How can he explain what he's looking for to anyone, let alone to a " Daddy "?

A chance encounter in a BDSM club brings Marcus and Eric together,
what follows is a lot of push and pull and quiet manipulation, and exploration...

l knew l would end up rooting for them as a couple,
l knew the author would capture my heart with her magic.
l can't wait for this relationship to develop more...

This story was really sweet.

It showcased a man coming into his self and accepting who he is, a little. It was a nice little dip into the lifestyle.

The only reason I didn't rate it higher, is I found it to be a bit boring and when a story is this short I shouldn't have to feel as if I'm forcing myself to finish it.

Of course, that's just my own thoughts, having read many stories like this.

This story moved a bit too slowly for me. I really enjoyed both MCs and thought they were perfect for each other. Ms. Innes’s writing was solid and I thing I’ll try some other books that she’s written. I think I didn’t completely understand the meaning of “age play” in the title. While I respect that this is a real kink for some people, it’s just not a subject I’d like to read more about. I am happy that I gave this book a try.
