Thieves and kidnappers, Tracy is here to catch them.
I was trying to keep a tray-full of champagne flutes from gliding to the floor when the thief struck. And that spelled trouble for Jackson and me if we couldn't handle the situation.
It's Thanksgiving Eve, but Tracy isn't happy. She's back to waitressing, a thief ruins a perfectly good party - lousy beverages notwithstanding - and she fails to apprehend the culprit. As the sole eye-witness, she is needed by the police, but she has a more important case to worry about. Babies have gone missing in her parents' neighborhood and the police have no clues. And then one is found dead.
Tracy sets her sights on finding the kidnapper while juggling a family Thanksgiving, a jewelry thief, and two gorgeous men. And all this with a shining black eye. Who said being an apprentice P.I. would be easy?

Book 4 was as good as the first three. This episode was about a thief who turned up at high-falluting parties and stole jewelry from the partygoers, or broke into the host's safe and emptied it. The second mystery was about several babies disappearing from young, poor women, most of them from different playground parks. Tracy and Jackson are on both cases. The police need their help with the thief; the biological father of one of the missing babies hires the P.I. firm to find his 3 month old son. He is a student from a New York University and tells them that the mother of the baby does not want to contact the police. However, Tracy's brother, Trevor, who is four years older than her, and a New York City detective, becomes involved because of all the other missing babies. Then, Trevor and his partner and fellow police officers find a dead baby boy who was abandoned in Prospect Park. One of the cases has Tracy being physically attacked, while the other one literally tears her up inside. During this book, Tracy gets two thoroughly great kisses from two different gorgeous hunks, within a matter of an hour. What's a girl to do?
There was only one thing that irritated me. The author used two words that I was unfamiliar with, and I taught English. On page 27, the word "provenance" was used, when "parentage" would have made more sense. On page 87, the word "compunction" was used, when "guilt" would have been easier to understand. As a teacher, I am all for learning new vocabulary words, but not when it means you have to stop reading and look up a definition. If I had not been reading my Kindle, where I can simply click the word to find the definition, I would have had to find my heavy dictionary to find the definition. I am also a published author, and my writing teachers always told me these two things: "Simple is best" and "Less is more", which means to use the correct words, but don't make the reading difficult for the reader.
I still gave this book 5 stars because it had me laughing at some scenes, as well as crying during others, and I feel like the author is good at relaying the most inner emotions of her characters.
This series find Tracy p.i. In training and Jackson retired police homicide detective who took over his uncle investigation co. ,when his uncle passed involved someone stealing babies, a mystery jewel thief and finally Tracy gets kiss by 2 diff. men, her boss , and the mysterious moirerra who Tracy seemed to run into often, he is not what he seems. Can't wait for the next series
This series continues to be a fun and interesting read. FYI, this one does have baby kidnapping and 1 death, so those who might be triggered should probably skip this one.
