Both Marvel and Dc did a good job of not glorifying war in their comics. I think DC war stories were a tad gritter but Marvel had the Howlin Commandos and Sgt Fury down to a action packed science. Only Sgt Rock and Easy Company rivaled the damage done to the Axis armies. Recommended

Roy Thomas hands the writing reins over to Gary Friedrich in this volume, which contains Dick Ayers last issues on the book. It fails to recapture the book’s glory days but it’s still pretty entertaining.

I prefer the grittier war comics from DC, but this is good as well, particularly considering it's practically the only Marvel War comic of the Silver/Bronze Age. There were some short lived attempts at others, but this was the only one to last. My one complaint is the same I had for the other volumes: so...many...words. Some of the wordiest comics ever, and a lot of unnecessary dialogue. But still, a good comic that is lighthearted, but still serious enough to handle the very serious material.

Pages 5-8 were blank on kindle at first, but when I came back to them they appeared! Ends with the Commandos fighting Rommel & his super tank with 1,000 lb. shells. Includes Bob Hope & Jerry Colonna.
