About the author

Thea Beckman is a Canadian born, South African raised writer and author of the book “Why? Because Science!” Having just self-published for the first time on Amazon, she has no idea what she’s doing but she does have a Master’s Degree in Science and 30,000 followers on her blog site of the same name, so it can’t be all that bad. Thea is a travel bug, a bookworm, and mildly alarmed by how many arthropods she can be at once. When she’s not writing for a living and for pleasure, she enjoys bird-watching, drinking wine, cooking, and short walks on the beach because the summer southeasterly winds in Cape Town are a real bitch.

Did you ever wonder why the sky is blue? Do you know what causes El Niño? How was the universe created? These and many other questions and mysteries are answered in this book, Why? Because Science!

There is so much valuable and fascinating information in this book that I learned more than I could ever have imagined from one book. The author explains the reasoning behind science in simpler terms than most books and adds her special blend of humor to lighten things up. The explanations in each chapter can get pretty deep so the humor helps to put the reader at ease.

This book is better than an encyclopedia because of the varied subjects that the author takes on. She displays her knowledge of a myriad of subjects with confidence and aplomb.

I found this book to be an enjoyable journey into science and all its mysteries. I highly recommend this book if you are curious about science. Be prepared to learn more than you could ever imagine before from one book.
