So this was the main event "War of Hearts" By Julia Sykes and it was delicious.
This starts where "Battle for love" leaves us, With Ashlyn being kidnapped by the enigmatic Marco and removed to Marco's family's country estate where Joseph completely unaware is pining for his lost Angel.
The reason for this abduction, Joseph is heartsick and Marco wants his friend back to what he once was pre-Ashlyn.
So delivering Ashlyn seems the ideal solution to this issue.
So While this is set in the mafia world, there is actually scant interaction with the mafia undertone.
It factors only briefly in the background.
"War Of Hearts" main focus is on the dynamic between our three main characters. Ashlyn, Joseph and Marco.
And as I mentioned previously it's Marco I am drawn to and I couldn't wait to learn more about this guarded individual.
It quickly becomes apparent that the alpha personality here is Marco and also that The same thing that has drawn Joseph to his innocent angel Ashlyn and quickly turned into an obsession for him is happening again.
This time with Marco and for different reasons.
Also while Marco is drawn to Ashlyn, he also is aware and knows that she is capable of so much more and in fact that Joseph has vastly underestimated her resilience and strength of capacity.
But where Joseph wants to corrupt his angel and dirty her edges.
Binding her in his ropes and playing with her boundaries.
Marco wants to protect his princess, she is his darling precious girl, and he is also the driving force here behind the whole menage dynamic.
The driver if you will.
I was rubbing my hands together in glee when I realised the dynamic here was of Master, daddy and Ashlyn, I love love love this aspect so much.
So there is plenty more going on here to sell this and I was really pleased with where this took me and how this ended.
And I was ultimately right, there is so much more to Marco than what we were originally given and were exposed to in the short prequel to this "Battle for Love".
"War Of Hearts" gives us some terrific likeable love interests and it doesn't hurt that this is also hot and sexy as hell.
Quite a read.
So there we have it, folks, this was a good solid read with fantastic well-developed dynamics between its main three characters.
But, If I'm completely honest, Marco is hands down my favourite.
He is also the individual in this that for me really shone to the forefront.
Capturing that limelight.
So give this a go it is definitely one of the better menage romances I have read.
I was provided with an ARC of "War Of Hearts" By Julia Sykes of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

**MATURE CONTENT**

* 2.5 it's-not-my-kind-of-war stars *

I hate to be the first one to leave a not so positive review of the book but I struggled with the plot too much for me to bump up my ratings. Although, the fact that I have given the book a 2.5 star proved that it wasn't all too bad. Unfortunately, what I did not like far outweighs what I do like about the book.

Being a huge fan of mafia romance, part of the reason why I was addicted to this specific genre is because of the thrill, violence, and action that precedes it, leaving me pumped up with adrenaline yet also swooned by the romance aspect of the story. I mean, who doesn't like having mobsters as their boyfriends?

But, despite what sounded like a promising blurb, I found that the action in the book was severely lacking , the characters lack emotional growth and the book is basically just all about s*x, in which don't get me wrong, was PRETTY hot and steamy, but then again most of the time I was cringing because the word "Daddy" was involved.

Hmm..NO.

It just wasn't my cup of tea.

Not to mention, I felt as if the story was left unfinished and the plot was rather convenient for the lack of a better word.

Despite the fact that I have my dislikes, I was also curious enough to finish the book and have to admit that the first few chapters pulled me in rather instantly.

Recommended if you love a little kink in your romance.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book generously provided by the author. Thank you for the reviewing opportunity!

Super smexy!

Story: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Trope: MFM
Angst: 😱
Smexy: 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Let me say up front that I really wish this was not a trilogy. With a little bit of trimming, this could have been a fantastic, solid read that was slightly girthy 😉😉, instead of the story being broke up 😓. Anyway... Loved the story, enjoyed the different personalities of the heroes and how protective they are of the heroine. Heroine was a bit OTT innocent, but still enjoyed her. Super smexy and well written, I enjoy this author a lot.

This was a sweet story with a tiny bit of darkness. Ashlyn is taken from her place by Marco, because Joseph is pining away without her. At first her anger at being kidnapped takes away her fear of Marco, but his dark gazes remind her why she’s frightened of him. Until she gets to know him.....and starts to care about him. But there’s Joseph, she loves him,so.....Surely she can’t develope feelings for Marco, can she? Because Joseph and Marco are mafia, there’s a threat luring in the background. It’s a small part of this story and i would’ve enjoyed seeing more of that,as well as her background....Other than that,i liked this little gem.

War of Hearts" By Julia Sykes was one of the best I have read and the story is dark, delicious and suspenseful enough that it will keep you hooked from start to finish. If you are a huge fan of hot capture fantasy with a ménage twist, then this is your book!!! This starts where "Battle for love" leaves us, With Ashlyn being kidnapped by the enigmatic Marco and removed to Marco's family's country estate where Joseph completely unaware is pining for his lost Angel. When Ashlyn awakens from her drug produced sleep after being kidnapped by Marcus, she finds herself completely at the mercy of two dangerous, commanding men. One is a dark, predatory stranger…the other is achingly familiar. At first Ashlyn fights against being held against her will, Marcus and Joseph's inform her they are mobsters and war is brewing within their crime family. Yet they promise her they are here to protect her from their enemies—and they swear not to cause her harm.
Ashlyn wonders if there is really any danger outside the walls or is it more from the inside. Ashlyn is held against he will with her gorgeous ex-boyfriend and his intimidating good -looking best friend. The good looking best friend that she feels extreme chemistry with and that makes her feel disloyal toward her ex-boyfriend because the love is still there but she feels this intense chemistry for Marco. Marco gives Ashlyn the dominance and discipline she needs while Joseph gives her the tenderness and acceptance she craves. Joseph had been missing Ashlyn so much and now that she is with him, its been this huge difference- like night and day. But he knows the battle isn’t won yet with her. They have this mob war brewing plus now with Joseph not sure if Ashlyn can handle everything, even though Marco swears she can. The interactions between the three major characters are unique, complex and totally fantastic. It is a sexy, steamy, hot, dirty, and thrilling story that shows how they make their relationship come together to work. It isn’t easy but true love never is. It is a M/F/M story, a very well written Ménage a trois. Their love story has outside forces determined to cause harm and pain , there is twists and turns- this is one story that you need to read to find out what happens!!

Julia Sykes writes great books. I love falling into her words and meeting her characters. I've managed to fall in love with all of them so far. It wasn't any different when I met Ashlyn, Marco, and Joseph. I really would like to know them all in real life and I am kind of jealous of Ashlyn.

Ashlyn is a Harvard student. A few weeks ago, Marco came and told the love of her life, Joseph, that he had to leave and go home. Since then, she's had a hard time dealing with life. One night, she sees Marco who ends up drugging her and taking her to Joseph.

Marco tells Joseph that he has a surprise for him then leads Joseph into his room, where he has put Ashlyn. Marco tells Joseph that Ashlyn was in danger and being watched by their enemies, so he had to take her so that they could keep her safe.

Joseph has been moping around because he missed his sweet, innocent angel Ashlyn, so when Marco brings her to the house so that they can keep her safe, he's thrilled by it. However, he's still keeping a part of himself from her because he doesn't think that she can handle it, even though Marco keeps telling him that she can.

Oh man, the interactions between Ashlyn and Joseph, Ashlyn and Marco, Joseph and Marco, and the three of them together are super hot. There is a lot of caring and love on everyone's parts. It takes some time for the three of them to figure it out, but it would, any relationship would, and the more people you add, the more issues that you have to figure out. There are outside forces which threaten them, but they are able to figure it out and live happily ever after.

Danger Lurks

Julia Sykes Mafia Menage bks 01-03 Her Mafia Protectors

While I hate how those outside of this trio reacted to them being together (and without really knowing how they were together), I liked the ups and downs this went through. The life and death situations that are expected from mafia families made for good twists.

I love how Joseph Russo's dominate nature comes out more and more as time goes by, likewise with Marco De Luca's Daddy Dom, and all of geared towards pleasing the lovely and slightly naive Ashlyn Bailey Meyers. The bedroom scenes are scorching and don't always take place in said location - even hotter!

The narrators, Scott Rose, Michelle Price, and Zachary Zaba, are all new to me prior to this series. I liked them and look forward to more.

❤~🌟~❤ 4.5 GLORIOUSLY HEDONISTIC STARS! ❤~🌟~❤

“She was mine, my perfect little princess. Now, I just had to convince Joseph to make her his dirty little angel.”

If you are a fan of sizzling hot capture fantasy with a ménage twist, then WAR OF HEARTS by Julia Sykes promises to be your next BOOK OBSESSION!!!

While this novel might not be as dark and edgy as this author's previous titles, it still delivers on what I find utterly irresistible about her books…JUICY DRAMA, TANTALIZING INTERLUDES, HEARTTHROBBING ANGST, PULSE POUNDING PERIL and SEARING EMOTION....truly a sensory overload of intoxicating pleasure! And at the center of this book are two dangerously sexy Doms who move heaven and earth to protect--and possess--the angelic princess of their dreams!

THE STORY :
I highly recommend reading the short prequel, BATTLE FOR LOVE, beforehand because it sets the stage for this book.

The prequel begins with Ashlyn, a shy, socially awkward Harvard student who has been crushing on a devastatingly handsome bartender named Joseph. He is bewitched by the gorgeous curvy brunette’s alluring innocence and angelic beauty but tries to keep his distance because he does not want her to be tainted by the dark, gritty world that he has been trying to outrun. But her fate is sealed one night after he chivalrously steps in to save her from an obnoxious frat boy and after one taste of her luscious lips, he claims her as his. But when his criminal past catches up with him, he is forced to leave her behind to protect her from harm. However, unbeknownst to him, his fiercely loyal best friend Marcus devises a diabolical plan to bring the heartbroken beauty back to her lovelorn suitor’s waiting arms…

Which brings us to WAR OF HEARTS…

When Ashlyn awakens from her drug induced slumber after being kidnapped by Marcus in the dead of the night, she finds herself completely at the mercy of two dangerous, commanding men. One is a dark, predatory stranger…the other is achingly familiar. While at first the feisty captive fights against her imprisonment, Marcus and Joseph's inform her they are mobsters and war is brewing within their Lombardi crime family. But they assure her they are here to protect her from their enemies—not cause her harm.

As Ashlyn adjusts to her new normal at Marcus’s luxurious Long Island family estate, she struggles with her confusing attraction toward the strict, fiercely intimidating Marcus while she’s still very devoted to her gentler and kinder first love Joseph. But then to her utter shock and secret delight, the two mobsters make it clear that they want to share her! Over time they slowly earn their sweet captive’s trust--and lavish her with tenderness and affection, all the while tapping into her deepest, most decadent desires, fulfilling her every aching need, and making her feel protected and cherished and incredibly loved But can they keep their precious prisoner safe from the danger that lies in wait….?

MY THOUGHTS:
Gah the feels! The butterflies in my belly. The panty melting hotness. The Mafia mayhem. . This book HAS. IT. ALL.

When the author had mentioned that WAR OF HEARTS was her dirtiest and sweetest and most taboo book yet, my curiosity was understandably piqued. And while it did not really surprise me that the decadent treasures would find within the pages of this torrid ménage romance would be delicious arousing, what I hadn’t envisioned was that the daddy Dom kink would come into play. And I must stay Julia Sykes NAILED this naughty trope! I could not get enough of the stern authority. The nurturing. The cuddles. The oh so titillating spankings!

While both Joseph and Marcus are uber Alpha, emanating danger, potent sex appeal, and raw, masculine power, Marcus is very much the daddy in this trio and oh my what a SWOON-WORTHY Daddy Dom he was! Uncompromisingly strict yet exquisitely tender, Marcus meted out some scorching hot punishments that sure made my princess parts tingle! But Ashlyn is not the only one starved for affection, for beneath Marcus's hard, menacing exterior lurks a secretly scarred soul that needs soul deep healing!

“Marco might be your Daddy, but I’m your Master.”

And even though Joseph might not be as darkly sinister or rough around the edges as Marcus, he electrified my heart too! This big, hulking Dom was super chivalrous and uber protective, yet he too has wicked cravings that must be satiated. And as Joseph slowly but surely sets out to corrupt Ashlyn’s sweet innocence, we come to see he is savage in his own right!

“She was made for both of us, a perfect match for our needs.”

Ultimately, I loved Ashlyn’s journey into sweet submission with these two fiercely possessive mobsters who worship her with every breath they take and would annihilate anyone who dares to threaten what’s rightfully theirs! The heroine’s inner struggle to embrace her dark, taboo desires—with her two adoring Doms— is very captivating , and I relished the deep bond and electrifying chemistry between this threesome!.

BOTTOM LINE:
This scintillating ménage romance checked off all my boxes, with an intoxicating fusion of scorching hot kink, poignant emotion and gripping suspense, which all culminates in a nail-biting climax and a sigh-inducing HEA! And while this taboo storyline may not be everyone’s cup of tea, it certainly lit ME on fire!

Two sexy dangerous men and one very young innocent woman . . . how will they corrupt her? In this new series, it features mafia men and the woman they love. Mafia genre and new adult are usually ones I avoid. This one, I gave it a try and the tale pleasantly surprised me with the daddy kink.

The characters, Marco, Joseph and Ashlyn are straightforward and uncomplicated. Ashlyn is a rather sheltered latchkey kid. When she unknowingly gets involved with a handsome bartender, Joseph, she is taken into a criminal world without consent. Full disclosure, I avoid reading new adult books because for the most part, the characters act their age and I'm way past this kind of bratty immaturity. Ashlyn throws some temper tantrums which showcase her age and need of a good spanking. Luckily for her, Marco is happy to step up and give her the much needed spankings.

To enjoy this book, forget about the mafia angle, the over-privileged brats and first world problems. Ashlyn, Joseph and Marco's daddy issues grated on me. Their lack of appreciation for what they have in life all match up to first world problems. For example, who goes to Harvard to get their MRS. in this day and age? All I can think about is the student loans. Must be nice having rich parents and lovers who can pay for every little comfort. Yes, I held little respect for Ashlyn. I do not empathize with her plight nor do I think she is that neglected. She is a delicate flower who perhaps should have let someone else have the opportunity to receive an education at Harvard. I digress.

Marco and Joseph's roles in the mafia are a bit laughable. They make several choices that belies their inexperience, lack of political understanding and youth. I could go on with all the mistakes these kids make but it is irrelevant because I think the author wrote these in on purpose to showcase their naivety and lack of wisdom.

So what made this book good and enjoyable? The erotica... specifically the sexual tension and the daddy kink. Is this realistic BDSM? What is realistic BDSM? It is all a matter of interpretation. The rope bondage was nice. Do most lifestylers cut their rope after binding their submissive? No, because good rope isn't cheap. Then again, these two guys are rolling in dirty money who like to rip expensive negligee off Ashlyn. In this rope fetish, both guys are staying within character - flagrant disregard of money.

I enjoyed the sexual chemistry between the three characters. I especially like how Marco is more the disciplinarian who takes Ashlyn in hand. The punishments are mild and yet appropriate for someone as young and inexperienced as Ashlyn. The turmoil Ashlyn goes through for being with two men at the same time and liking kinky bondage is nicely done. I liked how Ashlyn questioned herself and was worried. Her sexual journey with these two caring males is sweet and sexy. What caught me off guard was bringing in the Daddy Kink. I am a big fan of Daddy kink. Marco is a budding Daddy dom and I fell for him. His protective demeanor and his ability to hold Ashlyn accountable for her actions is right up my kink alley.

It would be interesting to see how these three have grown in another decade or so. They are starting on a delicious path with all the right attitudes and communications. This kinky erotica is recommended as a Gateway to BDSM book for readers who enjoy mafia and menage themes.

I’m conflicted about my feelings on this book. On the one hand, I loved Ashlyn, Joseph, and Marco together; particularly Ashlyn when she was alone with each of the men. On the other hand, I found the blurb to be a little misleading as far as the how the kidnapping was portrayed and how big of a part the enemies played in the book.

War of Hearts purports to be a stand-alone novel in its cover copy, but it is imperative you read the prequel, Battle for Love before you start this book. Otherwise, you feel like you’ve bee dropped into a story that’s a quarter of the way through. War of Heart is told in first person perspective from three voices, Ashlyn, Joseph, and Marco.

If you’re into straight-up erotica, this is a great story; there are several intense sex scenes running the gamut from vanilla to the safe edge of hardcore. However, if you want more story, more character growth, this story is a bit lacking. I had expected more action, given the blurb, but there was very little in the way of the mafia suspense I was hoping for. There were very few scenes I would qualify as action.

I loved the characters as they started out, I loved them together, but I wish they would have grown more, especially the men. Ashlyn grew enough to know she wouldn’t be happy living the way she had before she found Joseph, and that was satisfying. The men left something to be desired, for me. Their dynamic, especially when they were with Ashlyn together felt off, to me. Considering the things they both needed from a romantic or sexual relationship, it felt like their roles were off in relation to one another.

My biggest wish for this book would be that Ashlyn wasn’t made to call one of the men ‘Daddy’. There is nothing that throws a bucket of ice water on a scene faster than someone in a sexual relationship referring to a partner in a paternal way. I also wish the mafia element, the dangerous situation these characters were in, would have played a larger role in the story as a whole. There was so much potential there, and the few scenes that were included were great, I just wish there were more of them.

Julia Sykes is a new to me author. I feel like, had I read her before, I would have expected the book to be what it was, but since I came into this book expecting it to be like other mafia romances, I read I had different expectations. Having read this book, I may pick up another of her books and come into it with more informed assumptions. If there is another of her books that catches my attention, I may pick it up, but it would be highly dependent on reviews from trusted sources.

The Daddy and the Dom by Julia Sykes is a ménage mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Michelle Price, Scott Rose, and Zachary Zaba. This is the second book in the Mafia Ménage Trilogy.

This is the second book of Julia's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I am really enjoying the relationship that is blooming between Ashlyn, Joseph, and Marco. I can't wait to see how it will progress over the course of the series. I liked that we got all of their points of views throughout the book.

The book ended on a cliffhanger which wasn't a surprise since it's the second book in the series. I can't wait to dive into the next book in the series Theirs to Protect to get more of their story.

Michelle, Scott, and Zachary did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this series if you like ménage romances, captive romances, or mafia romances.

Although this is book one in the series I recommend you read the short story Battle for Love first as it introduces you to the main characters and War of Hearts continues where Battle for Love ends.

I loved the three main characters Joseph, Ashlyn and Marco. The story is told through all their points of view which I really liked. I thought it was great to see what they were all thinking and feeling.

This is a well written standalone ménage romance. The sex scenes are hot and the storyline is well written. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.

I wish I've read the novella before going into this one, it would have saved me from a lot of confusing moments at the beginning.
As I understood it, Joseph and Ashlyn have met before and in the brief time they spent together, quite a deep connection was formed between the two. But the life Joseph has been running from finally caught up with him and he was forced to leave Ashlyn behind, disappearing from her life. Next time they meet, it is because his best friend - Marco - has drugged Ashlyn and brought her to Joseph, claiming that she was in danger and they needed to protect her from their enemies (apparently Joseph and Marco are some sort of top guys in the mafia world).
Ashlyn, for her part, raged and cried over being drugged and kidnaped for about a second (mostly for appearances sake, I think) and then she accepted everything she was told. That's it, she just took their word for it, never even asking for any sort of clarification about who's after her, or even why they've got enemies. It's like she pulled a wool over her eyes and pretended like she's in a fairytale or something.
Also, I felt like the connection between Ashlyn and Marco was forced on her by everyone - Joseph, Marco, the author. Im not saying that it did not feel real, I'm just saying that everyone pushed her into it until she was just sort of there. Like, she wouldn't have noticed it if no one said anything.
But no matter how I feel about her and Marco, he was definitely better that Joseph. I did not like that guy. At first he appeared spineless and whiny and then he just kind of faded into the background. I'm usually all about #whychoose, but here I was like "ditch Joseph and be with Marco" lol.

There was, however, one moment that I absolutely hated. It's when Ashlyn was feeling vulnerable and asked Marco about why she likes being with two of them and he immediately was like "tell me about your parents", and I'm like "oh my god, please don't go there". And then when he was telling about why he likes that sort of arrangement, he said "I also had a difficult relationship with my father" or something like that. It automatically implies that there is something wrong with them and the way they grew up, like it's the only reasonable explanation for wanting a relationship like this. Ugh. (It could've been a four star review, but this conversation annoyed me too much)

Other than that part, I had a pretty good time with this book. A lot of conflicts were ridiculous (like Joseph "hating" Marco at the second half, because he "let" Ashlyn get hurt. Stupid) and I had my fair share of eye-rolls while reading. But, despite it all, I actually liked the writing! The story was smooth going and I flew though it effortlessly.

Find this review and more at Ramblings From This Chick

War of Hearts was my first book by Julia Sykes and even though it was said to be a standalone, I would disagree. I found out after reading that there was a prequel called Battle For Love which I hadn't read and it might have helped me from feeling as though I was thrown into a story already in progress. That was a big problem for me here and unfortunately the story just didn't recover for me.

I felt like the blurb was misleading here and the story definitely didn't go as I expected it to. It was supposed to be a mafia story with darkness and danger, yet it didn't feel like one at all to me. Having read and enjoyed plenty mafia romances over the years, this one just didn't hold up. It is a menage and while the sex between the characters was hot, I feel like that was all there was here. It was primarily sex scenes with very little story or character development in between.

If you are just looking for something erotic and full of sex, you might enjoy this one. I wanted more story though and I there were a few other things that didn't quite work for me. Besides feeling as though I had missed part of the story here, when it came to Joseph and Marco things didn't feel quite right to me. It felt off and as though things were forced and not genuine when it came to them and their relationship with Ashlyn together.

While this story had a lot of promise, for me it just didn't work. I had hoped for more with the blurb and sexy cover, but in the end it wasn't what I had been expecting. I am not sure that I would read more from Julia Sykes after this, even though at this point I am a bit curious to see if reading the prequel would have helped at all here. If you are just looking for a sexy menage filled with sex, you might give this one a go after reading the prequel.

This was originally touted as a dark read, though the author has since made clear that personal circumstances have produced a gentler and loving read. That isn't a criticism of the book, which is a well written menage read, with romantic suspense and a tint of darkness included. Whilst it doesn't quite have the gritty depth or impact of the Impossible series, it does have the high quality writing and editing of those books..

There is a prequel (currently free) called Battle for Love, which sets the scene for how Ashlyn and Joseph originally met. You could read this without that, but it does enhance this book.

I did find Ashlyn to be quite a naive and immature character. However she is only 20 so despite her, at times, TSTL outlook it didn't lower my rating for the book as it fitted with her age. What I really did like was how she brought out the best in both Marco and Joseph, how she filled a need in them, as they in turn completed her. Whilst the sex scenes do contain some BDSM, they were fairly mild and brief. In fact the book had a much gentler feel to it than previous books by the author.

The main characters lacked a little of the depth that I would normally expect from the author, though they were still very likeable and drew me into the story. I found the book really easy to read and the pace held my attention. A few times I winced at parts of the story line but the author must have read my mind because within a few pages those issues had been addressed and resolved in a believable and satisfying way.

The writing is good, the story flows well and is easy to read. I found myself totally caught up in the story and, whilst it didn't blow me away, it's a really pleasant, steamy, menage read that I am happy to recommend.

Ashlyn Meyers muddled through her days as a Harvard student trying to get over her broken heart.  Joseph Russo just left when his best friend Marco De Luca came to town and said he needed to come home.  Now Marco is back and isn’t giving Ashlyn the choice of leaving either.  He said it was dangerous to stay.  He said, “The Family” had enemies and they knew who she was.  Most importantly he said he was taking her to Joseph.  Now shut away in a huge mansion Ashlyn is held against he will with her gorgeous ex-boyfriend and his intimidating good -looking best friend.  She must wonder is the danger really outside the gates of this fortress or is it inside the walls where she is trapped with these two men who claim to want to protect to her at all cost.  Ashlyn worries for her safety but she worries more for her heart and who she might have to give it to.

War of Hearts is not a warm tingling feel good story.  It is a hot, dirty story with lots of panty dropping sex involving a well written Ménage a trois.  Ashlyn never had real love even at home and never gained the approval of anyone close to her.  Marco is determined to give Ashlyn the discipline and structure she needs while Joseph gives her the tender, gentle adoration that she craves.  If anyone has ever been curious how a threesome might work, then Julia Sykes gives an inside look at the conflicting emotions and the trust it takes to be in that type of relationship.  Throw in some hot Italian mafia guys that would kill to protect the woman they love, and you have a swoon worthy read in War of Hearts.  I give War of Hearts by Julia Sykes 5 stars.

War of Hearts by Julia Sykes is a sexy and steamy ménage romance. I recommend reading Battle for Love first, which is a quick prequel that sets the foundation for War of Hearts. Not necessarily a must, but highly recommended.

Ashlyn was broken hearted after Joseph leaves. But now she has been taken by Marco. For her safety and protection, he said. What does it mean? Joseph cared for her and wanted better for her but found it hard to let her go. But once he is gone, he is half the man he was before her. Feeling guilty, Marco stole Ashlyn away for his best friend. He knew Joseph needed her, but he is also drawn to her.

Ashlyn begins to learn their secrets, even so, she is attracted to both men. The man she gave her heart too and his dangerous and sexy best friend. She finds herself falling more into their web. Now they are three. She is safe and protected in their arms. But what happens when that safety is threatened?

It was interesting to see Marco, Joseph and Ashlyn come together as three. There were many sexy and steamy scenes, with all three and separately. There was also a bit of suspense added to the story, which worked well and kept me reading this erotic romance.

The Daddy and the Dom
Mafia Ménage Trilogy, Book 2
By: Julia Sykes
Narrated by: Michelle Price, Scott Rose, Zachary Zaba

Book two continues with our mafia menage and now we are getting the building relationships of our trio. Ashlyn has been brought to Joseph by Marco after his abrupt departure. Now the two are blissfully happy. But Marco and Ashlyn have an undeniable attraction as well. Marco and Joseph have different needs, and come to the conclusion that Ashlyn may be the one for them. But as things get hot and heavy, the danger is coming. Marco and Joseph are completely different, which makes a great variety and interesting situation. I love how Ashlyn is understanding of the different needs of her men, but I thought she took to the scene by both pretty quick. Spicy, sensual and action packed this is leading to a combustible finish. Looking forward to the conclusion!

The narration team of this trilogy is perfectly cast. Ashlyn is portrayed by Michelle Price. Smart and spunky, she keeps Ashlyn feisty and adventurous. Scott Rose comes in as Marco, the Daddy, and he has that protective, want to take care of her tone. And Zachary Zaba creates Joseph, domineering and exciting. These narrators compliment each other and give a captivating performance.

I love Julia Sykes. I'm a big fan of her Impossible Series. However War of Hearts unfortunately did not win me over. The premise is interesting, Joseph runs from his life in the mafia. While Joseph is in hiding he meets and falls for Ashlyn. Soon Joseph's location is discovered and Marco brings him back home. Joseph isn't himself when he returns home so Marco abducts Ashlyn to make Joseph happy again.

The story begins with Ashlyn's abduction for her own good. Joseph and Marco keep Ashlyn captive to ensure her safety from the impending mafia war. Ashlyn finds herself attracted to both men causing her to feel like a dirty slut. Joseph is okay with sharing Ashlyn with Marco but doesn't want to scare her. Marco thinks otherwise, he believes Ashlyn is made for them. What probably killed the book most for me was the Marco's kink. I love kink in my books but this seemed awkward. I even cringed a little.

Although War of Hearts is touted to be a stand alone I recommend you read Battle for Love, the prequel to War of Hearts. I hadn't read the prequel so it took me a minute to catch up. 3 Stars

This was a slow start book for me and b/c I was reading via the Kindle it took longer than most to finish. And I seam to have started this series before it was re-marketed and finished after so I think I'm writing a review for the correct book but this could be for the first one? When I started this There was "The Dom" , which was a short story with just Ashly and Joseph and then this one "the Daddy and the Dom". So when I finished this I was not expecting to find that there was another story after these.

And I guess the next question would be did I read the old version before the revisions?

One of the reasons it took so long was it took a while for the story to take off. I got bogged down in the first few chapters with Ashlyn sulking after Marco brings her to his house but once Marco is able to show his protective side to Ashlyn this story really takes off and was a quick read. I actually found that I enjoyed Marco and Ashlyn together more than I did when it was just Joseph.

I enjoyed the ending, but at the same time it seamed too easy, so I was not sure prosed to see there is a next book

This is an unusual book, we start a few weeks after the Prequel Battle For Love which takes place in Cambridge where Ashlyn was studying at Harvard. When she starts to have a lovely relationship with a sexy bartender, who is trying to escape his family business.
At the start of this book Marco decides that because Joseph has been unhappy since leaving Ashlyn, he decides on kidnapping for Joseph. The story takes place at Marco’s family estate, where the three live in a small bubble. Marco and Joseph decides to introduce Ashlyn to a three way sexual and loving relationship with them. I was disappointed there wasn’t more from the mafia side.
Once altogether they all seem to get on well together, Joseph brings out his toys, and with Marco’s help introduces her bdsm. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I got bored in places. This is a new adult read with plenty of sex, not enough action outside the bedroom.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Marco and Joseph are finally getting into the nit and gritty of their mob life. Ashlyn is understanding what this type of life is going to ask of her and her men. The relationship between everyone is starting to form between them, so now is not the time to show it in public. Joseph is the boyfriend to Ashlyn and Marco will travel along as he always has as her bodyguard. But when people start hinting that there is going on more in the bedroom and relationships then there are a lot of problems that can come forward in the mafia life.

I am ready to read the next book and see what is to happen with these three.

The Daddy and The Dom (Mafia Menage Trilogy Book 2) – Julia Sykes
As we continue our blissful story of menage heaven, some major hurdles are thrown in front of our trio. Ashlyn, Joseph and Marco each battle the secrecy around pretending to NOT be a trio, for the sake of the Mafia family who will consider there relationship taboo! They realise the unfairness of the family and life that the guys have been born into and desperately try to come to terms with it.
An unfortunately timed visit by Joseph’s young cousin begins a series of explosive events that sees the trio disowned by their Mafia families and sent back to the small college town near Boston. But all is not as safe as it seems and we find out why in the last instalment of this trilogy.
Warnings for BDSM and total power exchange, explicit sex scenes with multiple partners. A hot and steamy read gives this another five stars.
