Savage. Soldier. Enforcer. I'm the one my club trusts to deal out justice with a stone cold heart. Then I learn I'm a father. I’m weeks away from getting out of prison and rejoining my MC brothers when four words shatter my world to I have a daughter. And unless I can come up with some serious cash for a crooked judge, he’ll make my little girl disappear in the system. No one f*cks with my family. This judge wants to take my daughter? Fine, I’ll take his. I track her down. I take her. She's a handful, but I mange to keep her sweet ass right where I want it -- tied up in my bedroom. She screams my name in the dark hot night, just as I come to moan Roxanna. She says she wants to help me. I don't trust her, but I need her -- my club's enemies are knocking at the door with bullets and my daughter's time is running out. This is war. And when it’s all over, I’ll be facing another big now that I’ve taken Roxanna, there’s no way I’m giving her back.Bear is a standalone, steamy, bad boy MC romance with a HEA and no cliffhangers!
I'm a romance writer, currently traveling the world, seeing all that it has to offer, and probably drinking a little too much wine.
I like striking stories. Romances, UF, PNR. Stories about men that move you, heroines with spines of steel, and villains that make your bones quake. Add in some sexual heat and a HEA, and that's what I try to provide.
This is a really well written book that totally held my attention from start to finish. It has a slightly split personality but it suited the plot and was done in a way that totally worked. I have to say the blurb is a little misleading as Nash/Bear is already out of prison when we meet him, but it's one rip-roaring story.
The book starts out with Roxanna's friend Maria encouraging her to indulge in a 'get-over-him' hook-up. I got the impression that Roxanna really wasn't interested but allowed herself to be pushed into it. Whilst that didn't quite gel for me, the quality of writing kept me reading. I'm so glad I did because by the end of the second chapter it very much had the feel of a rom-com about it. There was plenty of humour and amusing situations, with Roxanna coming across as a tough and resourceful character. At this point I wasn't sure about Nash/Bear, he seemed a little naive and unprepared in his approach of the circumstances he had put into play.
When Roxanne discovers the motive for Nash's actions she decides to help him. As the story unfolds it takes a much darker turn, which is why I described it as having a split personality. The book takes quite a dark turn, with the MC aspect becoming more central to the story line. I really empathised (and agreed) with Roxanna that murder and violence isn't the answer and that there must be a better way forward. Some of the scenes here are brutal but again, keep reading because the author doesn't glorify or gloss over the events. The plot again is well thought through and believable. At times it was hard to like Bear, but then seeing his love for his daughter and his 'brothers' we see a really amazing side of him.
The book lightens up a little towards the end, although things are not plain sailing and there is plenty of angst ahead. There is some amazing banter between characters, Maria and Roxanna are so funny when they are together, but some of the conversations between Bear and his MC brothers also lighten the book. I found myself finishing the story with a smile on my face, hope in my heart for a story with Ozzy and Maria and a feeling of having read a well written, nicely paced and captivating story.
This is supposed to be an Alpha biker MC book but I really didn't get that from Nash. Frankly, in the first few chapters he seemed like kind of a low IQ henchman. At no time did I get Alpha vibe from him. I didn't warm up to him at all. I liked Roxy and I liked that she stuck to her guns about murder and finding different ways to approach a problem. I also felt like the scene at Dirty Hanks was meant to shame Roxy (read: the readers) on preconceived notion about bikers. "Hey folks, bikers aren't just murderous thugs, they READ and do charity runs too!" I felt like that whole scene was condescending as hell.
I found the pacing for this book to be all over the place and that plot linchpins, like getting the FBI involved worked waaaaaay too quickly.
I totally knew after the first 30% that I should have DNF'd this but I saw a review that said the second half was much better. But it wasn't.
He was in prison when he learnt he had a daughter and once he got out he would do what was needed to get her in his care. Even if it means kidnapping the judges daughter. Follow his story and see if he gets her back
I loved the storyline and the twists in it .This book has it all ,romance, sex, not bikers, dirty cops and judges. Family and love are essential. So is a terrific and IMAGINATIVE author!
A fast paced action packed well written great read. In this one all the marks of pure entertainment, likeable characters, steamy sex, good story line. I'm looking forward to reading the next offering.
This is one of the better MC books that I have read in a while. The story had me captivated right from the beginning where Nash aka Bear meets Roxanna in a bar. She’s there to get over her cheating ex fiancée with her BF, Maria, and Maria gets her to pick up a guy to get over him. She chooses Nash but Nash has other plans for her that involve zip ties and not in the kinky way. Oh my this story just flowed perfectly with quite a bit of humour even in the dark times, the humorous banter while bullets are flying...genius. Nash & Rox’s banter was spot on as well and their steamy times...fireworks, sparks, explosions, toe curling. These two were perfectly matched, he’s an enforcer for his MC, rough and tough with an edge and she’s smart, tough and very capable with anything she puts her mind to. His love for his family, the MC club, and his daughter is filled with devotion and Rox becomes part of that in a short time. I loved how he didn’t stop fighting for her and was willing to be a better man for her and his daughter and how Rox was willing to do the right thing even if it meant betraying someone she loves. An amazing read that had amazing characters all around, suspense, danger, action, betrayal, steamy scenes, lust/love and some dark times with murder, blood and violence, which just added to the read and the MC life. I loved this book enough that even though I received an ARC, I had to buy it to show my support to the author but also because it was just that GREAT.
What a ride! This book is for thrill-seekers only! Does it count as a first date if it involves zip ties, unicorn tampons, and Bob the Builder?
Nash is one hot sexy teddy bear and Roxanna is just the sassy little spitfire to help him right all the wrongs and take on the world! This book was a one-stop read for me; I literally tuned out the rest of the world as soon as I started reading and didn't come up for air until I'd enjoyed the sweetest of HEAs.
There's plenty of action in this story and details that you will not want spoiled so I'll just say this book is exceptionally well-written, a little dark at times, a bit menacing when it should be, but only insofar as it makes the story absolutely riveting. There are plenty of chuckles and even a few snort-laughs along the way.
I loved it so much I wish I could wipe my memories and read it for the first time again. Side note - do you think the Build-a-Bear shops would let me build a Nash Bear? I voluntarily (and enthusiastically) reviewed an ARC of this book.
Very well written book with great storyline and plot. A sweet, hot and different romance book. One of the better MC romance stories.
I love the couples journey towards their HEA. There is fear, drama, passion, emotions, hot scenes, twists and lots of chemistry in this amazing story. Instant attraction. It is written in dual POV which gives the reader much more of the thoughts and feelings of the main characters. Love that it has an epilogue. A story about overcoming fear and letting go. No spoiler here!
Lots of chemistry and hot scenes. I like the main characters and how they develop. The story flows nicely and it is very captivating from first to last chapter. The author has delivered a story that is worth the read!
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the first book in the Wayward Kings MC series by Zahra Girard. Roxanna is a Forensic Accountant who grew up in California but she's now living in Chicago. Her Dad is a Judge in California and her Uncle is a Sheriff and she's very close to both of them. She just found out her fiancé, Erick who she's been with for four years has been cheating on her for two years. Her wild best friend, Maria has dragged her to a bar to get drunk and make bad decisions. Bear has just been released from prison and while he was still in there he found out he has a two year old daughter named Abigail. Bear is the Enforcer for the Wayward Kings MC and if there is a threat to the club he takes care of it. He's just found out Abigail's mom is dead and someone has taken his daughter and is demanding $100,000. He suspects a crooked judge is behind it and he's threatening to put Abigail into the system and make sure she disappears. He doesn't have that kind of money so he comes up with a plan to kidnap the judge's daughter and use her as leverage to get Abigail back. This is the first book I've read from this author and I'll definitely be looking for more. I loved the part where Bear was looking for imaginary tampons at 2:00am in the drugstore. I also liked the reference to Bob the Builder it reminded me when my nineteen year old son was little he was obsessed with the show. The one thing that irked the shit out of me was how Roxanna kept escaping from the zip-ties because I'm not buying that crap.
Bear is book 1 in the Wayward Kings MC. We get a good introduction to how the club will operate and progress in the future, but this story is specifically about Nash aka Bear. The story starts with Roxanne and then we learn about Nash and the lengths he will go to in order to get his daughter. When Roxanne discovers the motive for Nash's wayward ways she turns tail and decides to help him. There are some twists and turns as their characters develop and the story progresses, but I still would have liked a little more back story.
I would be interested to pursue more of the Wayward Kings and their interactions together!
Wayward Kings MC Book 1 Bear by Zahra Girard is a great book. It is not your average story. It is a biker book and so much more. It is a well written with a great plot and complex characters. It is steamy, emotional, packed with danger, betrayal, fear, lust and love. Nash and Roxanna meet under less than an ideal situation because of desperation and quickly become a team. What happens with yhese two? One click to find out. It is well worth it. I am voluntarily leaving my review after reading an advance reader copy of the book.

Roxana has just spilt up with her cheating boy-friend, her friend Maria encourages her to go on a night out. Nash aka Bear has just been release from jail, he is a biker, a father and an ex-marine. All he wants is his daughter in his life, he kidnap’s Roxana who in the start tries to escape but after finding out why she becomes his helper. Roxana learns her father is up to no good along the way. This book has drama, love and violence.
Bear or Nash is the enforcer of the Wayward Kings MC. Just spent four years in jail and before he is released he find a out he has a three year old daughter, Abigail. Her mother was killed in a car accident and she's supposed to be put into the system by a judge who is less than honorable and the father of Roxanna. Roxanna has a hard time believing that Nash is not as bad as he and the club members are portrayed. Their chemistry tries to surprise their intentions and both have issues to overcome.
I chose this rating because this was a pretty good book. I really enjoyed most of the characters. This was a really crazy book for her she kidnapped a judge daughter then the daughter to helps you to get your daughter back from the person that has her. That's trying to give her to a family because she's in the system because her mom and dad in a car accident. This book has a really a lot of twists and turns. Overall everything turned out pretty well in the end. Pretty good read.
In the midst of passionate love and violence, there was a punch of humor that carried this romance throughout the journey! Roxanna, Nash, & Abigail along with the brothers and sisters of the Wayward Kings MC becomes a family. It’s a path lined with passion, blood and tears as well as a love that binds. I enjoyed this one and look forward to completing this series.
Headline: *squeals & giggles with happy dance I have voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC version of Bear by Zahra Girard. Dang this was a good book! I fell in love with Nash immediately. Even when he was being a huge A hole. Roxy was beyond perfect for him. The action, the drama, the sexy times and the ending. All perfection. I highly recommend this book. Happy reading!
This was a great book. It held me captive from the beginning to the end. It's filled with suspense, some twists & turns and lots of hot steamy scenes. For the love of family a man will do anything. Pick up your copy to see just how far he will go. Amazing characters. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Bear/Nash was no angel, but his daughter was everything to him. When the judge threatens to take her away, it's an eye for an eye as Bear decides to take Roxanna instead. I loved this steamy and suspenseful MC romance. It had me from the first page. It was rough and violent, but it was also sexy with tough and wise-cracking dialogue. I can't wait to read more of the Wayward Kings!
Just an okay read that had the potential to be so much better. Judges daughter gets kidnapped by a guy she hits on for sex, tells him all about her dad being a judge. Is she in or out of the relationship which goes on the whole story plus is her dad bad or good. Just kept missing the mark.
Bear (Nash) is out of prison. While is prison he found out that he was a dad. A Judge on the take is keeping Bear from his daughter. So Bear takes something of the Judge's, his daughter. Roxanne has a hard to believing that her dad is a bad person. Lots of chemistry between Bear and Roxanne. Is it enough for the two of them?
Cash and Roxy are two funny characters! This story started out with a kidnapping and multiple escape attempts. I really enjoyed it! The random tangents during gun fights and dangerous situations were funny but took away from the intensity of what was happening. It’s a sweet story about family over everything else including zip ties , kidnapping, gunfights, and murder.
Bear (Wayward Kings MC Book 1) by Zahra Girard is a very good read. A well written book with a good plot and complex characters. Steamy and emotional, Nash and Roxanna are a great couple and I just loved their story. I am posting an honest review after reading an ARC copy of this book.
Wow. Nash and Roxanna hit is off instantly despite the situation they are in. I love how they both fight for their family and how they love each other. A great read.

I read an arc. Kidnapping, bikers, kids, crooked judges oh my. Add in a great blend of witty, sassy humorous banter no matter the situation. Scorching hot chemistry and you get one great read.
This is one of the best MC books I've read. The author does a great job with making you feel as if your actually there. Great characters, loads of action and suspense. I loved it.
Not only was this a great MC story, it was maybe the funniest I've ever read. The tampons at the drugstore scene was genuis. I laughed out loud. This story will be hard to beat.
When I first started to read this book it surprised me. I was thinking this was a shifter book when I seen the name. But it was a biker book that showed the value of family. It also showed what you could/would do for love.
