This one is pretty good, though I'm not a fan of manga and the wildly different art styles it employs in a single scene. A character will be drawn in quite spectacular fashion on one frame and will turn cartoony in the next. Still, the story of the bully victim determined to improve his life by learning a skill from a martial art master has a good start. The older reader might compare this comic to the Karate Kid story. The first volume barely scratches the surface of what might turn out to be pretty cool, but it got me interested. I got some laughs out of it too.
Shi Woon gets regularly beaten up in school by Chang Ho, the school bully. He doesn't want to seem weak in front of his crush Sae Hie, but doesn't have the courage or fighting skill to stand up to the bully. His help might come from Han Chun Woo, a substitute teacher with a hidden agenda and spectacular physical ability. Shi forces the teacher's hand with a video of Han beating up three gangsters with expert martial art moves that the latter wants to keep hidden. The young man's dedication is adamant and won't take no for an answer. Meanwhile Han's hiding place in the school doesn't stay hidden for long as people are looking for him.
It's so nostalgic reading about Chunwoo and co again. I really love these manwha. I want to give the manwhaga money.... I guess I'll buy the books in Korean, if I can figure out how... and donate them to the library? I guess...

First volume definitely least fave, but still great!
INCREDIBLE! The first book just has a great ending. VERY unexpected. Five Thumbs Up! How about it? A kid in school that gets bullied and gets robbed by a bunch of jerks at school. If he doesn't give the wanted money by whenever they say he will get beaten up day by day. Until he finds something that can change his life.
(action, comedy, drama, martial arts, school life, Shonen) I completely devoured this K-manga so fast. Loved it from start to finish. The graphics caught my eye immediately, the storyline intriguing. The main storyline was serious, but I enjoyed the occasional silliness it threw in. Kid is getting bullied, witnesses new English teachers fighting abilities and begs him to become his disciple. Kid is then pulled into the world of martial arts, and yeah, the shit pretty much hits the fan from then on. I loved the relationship that grew between the two, the fight scenes awesome. Can't wait to read the second instalment, The Breaker New Waves.
This is like GTO but adding a lot more classic fight scenes and even tho Chun-Woo is a bit of a**hole, he really is a badass funny lad that I've ever come across in the manhwa world.
Definitely guys, check this manhwa out for the lols and fight scenes, you're totally missing out!
It starts like a lot of classical martial arts storylines, with a boy that is a total weakling who gets bullied. He accidentally finds a very talented teacher and he shows great determination to learn. And then things turn a bit weird - is the teacher really a good guy? is it enough to have determination if your body can't handle the training? isn't it safer not to get involved at all in the dangerous world of these elite martial artists? And then things are weirder still because our boy is given a dangerous drug that once taken changes his body's energy, raising his ki so much that it endangers his life. He now needs to channel it efficiently or he'll blow up (!). Anyway, among all the weirdness the characters really shine through as pretty interesting and complex. As an yaoi lover I had to giggle knowingly at the sudden emotional connection between our main character and a young martial arts "prince". (even the scanlators were amused by it - the "prince" keeps thinking about our main character and how he makes his heart beat faster)
Martial arts in manga is like trying to find a self-centered toddler it's not that hard. But a manga or in this case manwha the martial arts is the sole focus, which is bit for tougher to find. Our main character is a guy that sorely needs the training since he's basically the school bullies punching bag.
and like a common shouen plot he finds a teacher who decides to make him his pupil. Of course before the training begins they run into a problem. But not to worry this doesn't really remain a problem for long though it does lead to some future events , in a way nobody would have thought it would. And soon of he's...
Overall the story and art aren't too bad. The characters are also well established and the ending of the series was a shocker but it does led to the sequel (thx the lord) and the events in it.
This is good but very flawed, it takes a while to show its fun side and honestly, I was tempted to quit 20% in. I am glad I didn’t though, once out of the first half it got dramatically better as more humour, silly faces and fourth wall breaking antics rolled out. It’s not an easy book to describe, to me it feels like Shonen for adults. It’s got the tropes but also mature themes and language, nudity and graphic violence.
A few trigger warnings. The book has a ton of school bullying and it belittles suicide, theres also some creepy treatment of teen girls by an adult male (the book largely takes place in a high school), it all happens in the lacklustre first half but still, those bits stunk.
This was my first ever Manwha that i read online and i loved it right from the get go. and im really getting into the new series(The Breaker New Waves) too, this Manwha was my first and wont be my last im also reading Nobellese i really hope that one gets an english translated printed book as well, because that one is also very good.
Wow (*≧∀≦*), she was not the first Manhawa to read, but she put me in her events strongly, even when the teacher was protecting a student and trying to make him stronger and if he would harm him or even hate him a lot. So I wonder if this is the right way to teach or even to protect, even though I liked it !! And to download the third season. (*´ω`*)
The gap between the first volumes (terrible) and the later volumes (good) is incredible. I wouldn't be surprised if the author's editors demanded a comedy and he decided to pretend to do that while setting up for an action series.
