The belief in the supernatural, and its ability to harm an individual, had emerged in Europe in the 14th century. This sparked a series of witch trials across the continent.

By the mid 17th century this trend was gradually dying out across much of Europe. However accusations of witchcraft, and the hysteria which accompanies such a case, would sporadically occur in some places such as the American Colonies up until the early 18th century. The most prominent example of this was the Salem Witch Trials, these occurred in Salem, New England between 1692 and 1693.

This is the story of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692, and the horrors surrounding this most famous of historical witch trials.

I downloaded this book after reading a fictional story that touched partly on the Witch Trials.

I thought that this book was well laid out, I liked the chapter length and it had just the right amount of details for me. I wanted a book that was a fairly quick read after the last one peaked my interest and this one hit the spot perfectly.

It is 4 stars from me for this one - a quick read, lots of detail and given me the incentive to go off and do a little more research too - highly recommended!

A good introduction to the events of the witch trials. Sort of dry reading. A little more background on some of the people involved would have been nice.

I enjoyed this. It is a brief overview, but it covers lots of things from the trials themselves to the punishments. It went on to talk a little about the supposed reasoning behind the accusations, which is what I found most interesting. It would have been better if there had been a bibliography or further reading added to it. However, considering its condensed length, I give the discussion 4 stars for a decent introduction.
