“Every choice you make will have an effect on your future.” If your life is mapped out for you, what happens when you unknowingly change your path? The holidays are a time to make memories, while Alexis tries to forget the prior year and the devastation that followed her last Christmas. One year later, Alexis is forced to make a choice, but every choice changes the future. With every decision, everything that Alexis has ever know comes crashing down in a whirlwind of romance, lust and the unknown. The small imbalance sends Alexis through realities that she may not be strong enough to survive, without Travis. When the past begins to repeat itself, Alexis does what she has never done before; she creates a Christmas effect.
A love for reading and writing is a new concept for Virginia. Before the Twilight rave and a need to know the ending after Eclipse was released in theaters, Virginia preferred to watch the movie or convince a friend to read the book for her.
Needing to know the story of a random homeless man that she encountered on a freeway exit ramp, was the only reason she began writing in the first place. Soulless Nights spawned from the unknown story and a dare from her friends.
She has had the pleasure of working with some of her favorite authors. Street teams and beta reading were what led her to the world of writing.
She has released Soulless Nights, Vindicate, Expiate, Cessation, Always Never, Secondary Silence, Secondary Disaster, The Xmas Effect, The Blood of Abigail, Correcting Code 1.1, and the Bad Words Made Funny Series!
She recently released Night Tales Vol 1. Wich consist of 3 short stories featured in anthologies.
She also has co-written 3 books: Seraphines (Julia Clare) ,Bound by an Echo (Julia Clare) & Kepler: Humanity's Ark ( Kyle Perkins )
She is currently working on Correcting Code novella's
Not really sure how I feel about this story. It was not what I expected from a Christmas story. It started out interesting enough but then it just got weird, repeating over and over again. And, I really didn't like what was happening. This is a very challenging storyline.
This book is a mix of all that is Virginia Johnson.....it’s a quick read that engaged me straight away and kept me engaged until the end....there is some dark humour, hot as hell sex, a damsel in distress, a hero (or is he) and a plot twist....perfect!
I am speechless after this book. Once again Virginia Johnson completely surprised me with a story. For a novella, this one had it all: fear, suspense, a hot guy that saved her, and some paranormal.
The Queen of Passion has done it, again! The scenes are vivid and breathtaking, never really sure if I should turn on a fan, first from all the heat or ask for forgiveness (Forgive me Father for I have sinned...) I enjoyed this story because the words on the page came to life in my mind. I am so excited because I have gained a new book boyfriend, not sure if this will become a series or not, but I sure hope it does.
This is a book about Alexis. Alexis is a 30 something year old single lady. She swerved while driving to avoid a deer and ends up in the ditch. Where the story goes from their is really anyone's guess. Her actions determine what happens next. This book has a lot packed into a little story. You get lots of different aspects of different genres. All wrapped up in a nice bow.
Love this story. Live a lifetime in one Christmas night!
When Alexis is stuck in a snowstorm, weird things start to happen to her. She encounters a young woman who appears to have died in the car that rear ends her while stuck in ditch. A year later Alexis encounters a saviour of sorts in Travis. I loved the love story of Alexis and her saviour. I mean, haven't we all fallen for a monster who becomes a saviour for being in the right place at the right time? Or rather we believe that our Mr. Right is our saviour...
This is a great short story with a creepy twist! Instead of listening to the same Christmas songs over and over again, turn off the tunes and read this! It's fresh, fun, and sure to be better than hearing Jingle Bells for the billionth time. Also, if you're planning on traveling by car though a snowstorm to spend Christmas with your family, pack this in your Kindle just in case you end up in a snowdrift with time to kill.
This story has it all. I don't know how Virginia Johnson was able to combine multiple genres in to one book but she succeeded with The Xmas Effect. It is a super seductive read with an incredible sex scene that will have your knickers melting right off of you, a hot as hell hero and a mind bending twist that I didn't see coming. So if your looking for a book that has a storyline that is going to challenge you with trying to figure out just how it will end then this is it.
For a novella this story packs a punch!! Completely enjoyable and attention grabbing! When life doesn't always go according to plan, decisions made on the fly can haunt you forever. Alexis is about to learn how important every decision you make is. Hang on tight for The Xmas Effect!! I hope we get to see more of these characters.
I enjoyed the story here, and the movement of the structure, but the unfortunate thing was that the story desperately needed editing. The complexity of the story could itself cause confusion, but that was compounded by regular tense issues which should have been addressed in editing, and other small editing issues were a distraction throughout. The editing was such an issue, in fact, that when the story seemed to begin doubling back on itself and re-covering territory explored earlier, I at first thought it was an editing mistake vs. a structural/stylistic move--and that tells you just how distracting the editing was.
I'd love to say I could get past that issue and really fall into the characters/story, but as it is, I struggled with this one. It sounds (from the author's note) like it might have been rushed as a quick holiday novella, so I suspect I'd be interested in trying the author's longer works, but wouldn't pick up another of her novellas or seasonally themed works.
If I could give this book zero stars I would. It took me less than an hour to read, and cost me 79 pence. I resent the waste of both of those things. Appalling writing combined with no story, just the same ridiculous sentences, repeated over and over, with a few words difference to create the alleged plot. I struggle to use the word ‘plot’ seriously here. Utterly awful. Don’t do it
i just loved this short story! it had me thinking of ground hog day on repeat. i was a little confused at first but caught on real quick. its about a young woman who keeps repeating a certain day trying to change it when she goes back again and again.
This book will make you think everything you thought you knew was wrong. It's a twisted little tale that can make you believe in anything. It is so enticing I couldn't get enough of it. Loved it.
What does one remember? What does one desire? What is reality? And what happened? Luckily we made it back, even with a brake caliper falling off and a bad clutch, with -20 degree weather outside. (But without proper winter gear) Not so sure about Alexis.
So this book is about Alexis and she is stuck reliving a day over and over again. She crashes her car while trying to avoid a deer and that’s what starts this crazy story.
What a twisted mindwarp! You aren’t rereading the same story. You are reading stories. This will mess with your head as you continue to read on in hopes that everything will continue to get better. Not in any way expected.
I was given this book by my sister. It is a very quick read. That being said, brace yourself because this book will mess with your head! It was a little confusing at first, but keep reading because by the end it will all make sense!
