Daija and Arkell are lovers who have been inseparable since they were teens. 10 years later, time never changed their relationship towards each other. Daija wasn't born into royalty but she is determined to make herself a BOSS.

Arkell is a money-making drug lord ready to do anything to remain on top. Even if that meant putting a hole in anyone who tried to interfere with his reign. Money, Family, Power, and Respect were the things that kept him going.

Drama arising with Arkell’s babymama puts a spin on the way things are going between Daija and Arkell's relationship. On top of that, Arkell finds himself in trouble with a rival who wants him dead.

Everyone knows it's not fun when the rabbit has the gun. Drama, Beef, Lies, Love, and Heartache are at the tip of your fingers with each turn of the page. Daija will be with Arkell right until the end. Will their love be enough to keep them both alive or will their love crumble beneath the drama?

An African-American Urban Fiction with a sweet ending.  This short story had your typical urban fiction story line, to a point. There was baby mama drama, drugs deals go wrong and cheating. You know standard shit. But on the other hand, it wasn't as typical as I thought. In other words, although it did has drama and cheating and drugs. The heroine was not just another hood chick. She was a strong  woman who had her own business ,and just so happened to be in love with a man who, putting it mildly kept FUCKING UP.

Arkell was into the drug game and he met Daija when she was 15 and he was 17. Now, ten years later and they're both in their late twenties and have staid together through all the bull shit. Daija doesn't know why she puts up with Arkell nonsense, but love can be a addictive drug. Arkell loves Daija deeply, but yet he does her wrong. Why? Their story is a mix of love, hard decisions, righting wrongs, making mistakes and finding their way back to each other.

For me, it was the ending that made me give this novel a 5 star rating. After everything that went down, Daija knew she had to give Arkell up and she did just that. She picked up and moved, not  letting anybody know where she went. Her life is peaceful and calm until someone finds her and just when she needed Arkell the most he shows up.

He profess his love for her and apologies for everything. He promises to be a better man and that he can't live without her and needs her in his life. Daija feels the same way. How can she not. They have been by each other side for ten years. How can you dismiss a love like that? You don't. So, the only thing to do is clap for their happily ever after. She deserves it.

This surprised me. It's not often urban fiction gives the couple this type of ending. It's always a part 2 or 3 and shit it still filled with large amounts of crazy drama (but I like the drama, don't get me wrong) so to have an ending like this was breath-taking and so worth the read.

In conclusion, the author did an amazing job. The plot was consisted, it had Dual-POV in each chapter. You could feel the emotion, the worry, the anger, and the suspense as you delve deeper into the world of  Arkell & Daija. Because once you get that one person who is always at your side, its impossible to let them go.
