This book was good. It was pretty deep. Being non-fiction, it took me much longer to read that most books. However, it had some beautiful stories in it that illustrated the points that were being made. That was my favorite part of this book. This would be a great tool to facilitate discussion at a home Bible study or in a women's group.
Combining powerful stories with Scriptures and discussion questions, Macias provides readers with a tender and encouraging call to true discipleship, and therefore, a more meaningful and loving relationship with God and their neighbors.
Indepth insights into such Biblical parables as "The Good Samaritan", "The Prodigal Son", and "The Sower" bring readers closer to the Word of God than ever before; making each story relatable to readers no matter where they are along their spiritual paths. Reminding us that the Church is Christ's Bride and of the commitments believers have in their union with Jesus, Macias leaves readers eager and encouraged to take up their crosses and follow Him.
Beyond Me is a book like none I've ever read. The power of its words caused deep reflection, so that I could not just rush through it and toss it onto my pile of "books I've read". Reading Beyond Me is a personal and emotional experience; a gentle call to review what is in your heart and to see if you not only accept Christ as your savior, but are willing to put aside your wants and desires to obey His commandments and follow Him.
Anyone who reads Beyond Me and answers its call will be changed forever!
Beyond Me is a powerful book that pulled on my heartstrings. I was introduced to another side of “mercy” as the stories unfolded in each chapter. The stories told were very powerful in conveying the love of God with practical examples of salvation, love, and compassion from everyday people and events.
You have not been given any trial or hardship that someone before you has not already endured. Look to the Lord to help guide you through each situation. The title, Beyond Me, describes this book perfectly. As you endure your hardships look around you and be aware of others who may be going through the same difficulty. Don’t be afraid to share your story!
Reading this book will remind you of your purpose on earth. You will go through hardships and being open to helping others is your obligation. The Lord has not put us on this earth to live self-centered lives but to be a witness for him. By allowing our hearts to harden towards those in need, we lose our usefulness for the Lord.
Reading this book will also have you rethinking how you handle your trials. Do you call out to him or do you complain? How do you react when these trials are caused by someone else? Do you forgive or do you hold a grudge? Forgiving and sharing are not easy but with the Lord’s help every believer can be an encouragement. This book has some great information for those who want to live beyond themselves.
