Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.

I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.

There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.

Thank you for checking out my stories!

Interesting new story arc

One thing I love about the story arcs is that we get to enjoy favorite characters for longer without the feeling that a plot has dragged on for too long; it is also one of the things I love about the Kurtherian universe too! In the last book, the main plot for those four books wrapped. Now, we are into new challenges, though of course they are built some on the prior books, but the opposition is different now (different people, different issues, etc.) It's kind of like when you get to the end of a story and wonder, what might happen after the big showdown and everything is resolved?

I definitely enjoyed reading this story! We get to meet new characters and some in the background previously are now becoming more involved players. Ready for book 2 now! :)

Once again, I was drawn firmly into Leira's world, where crazy happens every day.

In this fifth book of the series, a short time has passed, and Leira and Hagan are being kept hopping by the General, when the theft of magical artifacts reaches new heights.

Trouble is, Leira's team are chasing whisps of information that, too often, gets them to the artifacts site, that little bit too late - usually just in time to see the scavenger half-Light Elf, Louie, stepping through a portal, carrying said artifact!

What makes things so bad, is that other Nation's Governments, along with World Wide Conglomerates, all seem to be chasing the same artifacts, alongside various scavengers, who can do often ruin what they don't understand.

But it has become obvious, to those who need to know, that it's only going to get worse, unless they up their game, and start getting their first.

But, when Leira, and her Cousin Light Elf, Carrick, discover that seeds belonging to Oriceran, are being grown widely around the Earth - and that this is only the beginnings of the horrors they have discovered, they realise that they are dealing with Oriceran magic, mixed with Earth technology.

So the race begins, for Leira's side, to try and put a halt on it all, before the shields start coming down between the two dimensions!

But, to do that, they'll need to set a thief, to catch a thief!

Once again, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. There's still all the same characters from before, but there's also a few new surprises, too, and everything is kep going with Leira's determination, and Yumfuck's delight in grabbing every ounce of food available in his vicinity!

I LOVE that Troll! 🤣🤣🤣

This book is really setting the scene for this next Arc of Leira's story, and it looks like there's going to be one surprise after another, as we go along.

To that effect, I'm going to set up my Kindle, ready for later today - as usual, I've been reading to silly O'Clock in the morning - so that I can start reading Book Six of the series: 'Theft of Magic', and so I'll catch you on the flip side, to let you know what I think of this next book of the series!

Btw, I bought these books in a Box Set, but I really believe that every single book deserves it's own review, so this is what I've done!

Kindle Unlimited, was reading that way because had missed the 99 cents intro days then they came back and did some of them again for that price then the rest then this one today intro price plus YTT is only that much all the time, just want some of the TYY merchandise with a couple of coffee mugs and oh yeah for YTT to talk, pretty sure that won't happen since not YTT don't equal PC. Not sure why it wasn't showing on goodreads, did it on amazon and if up do it same time.

3 Until There Almost Wasn't Stars

Dealing in Magic is the fifth book in The Leira Chronicles series by Martha Carr and Michael Anderle.

The story and plot didn't really progress too much, at all. This book was practically lots of filler, to hold us over until the next. No true progression, or plot to speak of. We got a little farther in understanding the Gardener, and his motivations, what he's been up to behind the scenes. Tied to Harkins more than above board project, at least he's only interested in the good the work can do. Now that there's someone actively experimenting with animals, and doing the gruesome work of melding their flesh with machinery there is more horrifying discoveries just around the corner.

Louie is becoming an interesting mystery himself. Seems he has Jasper Elf blood himself? Could be wrong, could be something else entirely that him and Leira share that presents the purple glow on their magic when they are in danger? Enough of a concern given that he's Jackson's protégé, and Jackson is her long-lost father...

This trouble with the mist growing, actively seeking Leira out because she bubbles over with pure, good, light magic is my deepest concern. Given that one Elf let a few more random living back out of the world in between, and some of the literal representation of dark magic, I'm sure more evil deeds are coming. It's will enforced on the easy to manipulate, or the already negative in deed, will only add more complications to preparing the world for Oriceran portals....

So, improvements in writing are obvious in here and much appreciated. Too bad the story to me just fell flat. But the stage is set for the next book in the series and I’m looking forward to it.

From the drama of family to magical junkie vibes to troll antics the story seemed a little haphazard. It wasn’t very consistent in tone or in subject. It felt like it was just a jumble of scenes that were almost out of order. The narrative did not flow smoothly.

Now that said, the writing in the book is better. Fewer choppy scenes and a better sense of direction in general. The book at least sets the stage for the next one. Dealing in Magic was much more readable than any other in the series.

Overall, while letting me down on the story, it has captured my interest again with a stage set for something grand. I’ll just have to see what the next book holds in store. Hopefully the story will be more coherent, and the readability is as good as this one if not better.

The unstoppable Leira Berens!

As the series continues so does the mystery surrounding Leira. Half human half elf was the original guess about her origins. But strange things happen around her and only the Fixer seems to understand how to help her. Even he is puzzled but starts to ask the question ‘just how much of Leira is human?’. She is displaying abilities that haven’t been seen for thousands of years. So, it’s a good thing that her abilities seem to be growing just as the threat from the dark mist is also growing. The only problem is that the Fixer needs to stop her from advancing too far! Meantime, the humans are learning more about Oriceran but is this a good thing or bad?

Some of that good stuff!

Does anyone read the authors notes? I do, it's almost an art form with Martha and Mike. They are fun to read and hold interesting information. I was amused in the last book in this series, Mike's notes, that he referred to a heavy reader as someone who reads 50 books a year. Not bad. I think I'm ahead of a whale and into a pod of whales. When I was keeping track on a spread sheet between fiction, non-fiction, Textbooks, and history I was reading on average 145 books a year. This does not include white papers or consulting work and study's. Keep it weird guys.

Can Too Much Of A Good Thing Be Bad?

The race for artifacts is heating up. The General is unhappy about being beat out by the corporations for some of the artifacts. Time to recruit more help and change the rules. Leira's increasing pure magic almost leads her to a euphoric end. Tiberius Troll gets in trouble, as usual, going big and rescuing an old bartender from being beat up. I like the humor, well written lifelike characters, and the moral play of good and evil. Can Leira get control of her ever more powerful magic? I look forward to another book.

While reading Michaels Author noted in the previous book, I noticed he mentioned readers not liking long series. I get that. I have read many that I got sick of.... This is NOT one of them! Point being is the series has to be able to keep your attention, this one does that!! As long as you keep writing them I for one will keep Reading them! Love Yumfuck!! lol😀 Blessed Be 🌒🌑🌘

YTT shenanigans

I'm really enjoying this series, but I really love that troll. Leira and Correck Are coming across hard truths. And a lot of pieces coming in to play in this book. The story is advancing, but not much resolved. Just a whole lot more questions. The book is extremely interesting throughout and I can't wait to get started on the next one.
Series must be read in order. Our lead characters are getting closer and closer, but nothing romantic.

I love how it's like every few books of the series, it's like a new arc.
So Book 5 starts a new main plot and arc for these wonderful characters.
We got to meet new characters which is always a wonderful thing and characters who aren't really involved in the other books or linger in the background get more page time and they're becoming more involved.

Okay book for was great. This was equally as good news story arc as well

So a characters that have grown on me are on another adventure. Plenty of colorful metaphors, aka swearing. If that offends you then find something else to read. This book is simply too much fun to let that get in the way. It's kind of like seasoning on a steak and it's well placed..

Another good edition

Overall a nice addition to the series. Somewhat disappointed in the conclusion as it didn't seem the story had reached a stopping point. Looking forward to more.

Gratitude

I keep trying to figure out which Oriceran character I like the most and it is Liera that keeps coming to mind. And now her magic is so pure she may just get lost in it. Let me express my gratitude for all the fun or your new universe.

So this newest arc for Liera is off to an interesting start. I wonder what kind of adventures she will have this time around. Looking to see how a few surprises get answered. 😎

Reduced the rating due to the abrupt ending. I did not consider it a cliff-hanger event that might have been carried over and set the scene for the next novel.
