This is a book in the Murder and Mayhem recently published, and is a continuation of the Jana Baker series by Nathan Goodman. I enjoyed the story, after Jana had finished her last mission she became very disillusioned about the FBI, throwing her badge at the director and taking off. We find her in Antigua, living in a small house and working in a bar. Unbeknownst to her, trouble is coming! There are interesting characters and a suspenseful plot, the story kept my attention from start to finish. I feel this book is not quite as intriguing as the few before, but it is a good read.
I gave up on this series. I really tried to stick with it but it has too many issues to me. I was looking forward to the series with a strong female FBI agent as the lead character. But having a man read the audio book and attempt a horrible feminine voice finally got to me. I really got tired of the constant sexual treatment of the character. Every guy checks our "her curves", all the terrorist try to rape/sexual assault her and her PTSD was horrible and used over and over and over. It made her become an unsympathic hero. One last thing, maybe it was the audio book but there is a lot of YELLING by characters. "GET HIM ON THE PHONE NOW".
CIA Agent Jana Baker runs from being an Agent...well, so much for running from something she could not get away from, and because she ran, she ends up in quite a pickle, and that is a gross understatement for what all she endures on her “running and hiding”, until she discovers she has to leave the shadows of her year long “hiding”, to rescue a dear friend who is like family. Author Nathan Goodman pulled out ALL stops in Rendition Protocol, and you can take it to the bank that it will have you literally on the edge of your chair! I only MISTAKENLY thought I had read books and was on the edge of my chair, but in Rendition Protocol I discovered what it REALLY means to be on the edge of my chair! No spoilers, but there is well developed characters and plot, mystery, romance, tragedy, reunification with very personal contacts, twists and turns, deaths, renewed life, ACTION, and fast page turning, but the list is way too long to list all that is in this wonderfully and masterfully crafted book by Author Nathan Goodman, and then....sadly it ends. I am SO happy I did not miss Rendition Protocol, and you will guarantee yourself a great read with Rendition Protocol. Grab a copy, and allot time to read this book, because it is one you will NOT be wanting to put down! Thank YOU Author Nathan Goodman for one of the best books I have ever read!! Enjoy!!
No spoilers here.. overall, I thought it was a readable book and engaging in decently large parts, so no regrets on finishing it. First 14 chapters were the most troublesome, hard to read through the character depiction as it stretched suspension of disbelief a little too far for me making engagement into the storyline difficult. Also, surprised at a single typo for a best seller but good news is there are no more and it picks up in the main after chapter 14 with some very engaging parts in it.. if you persist through the tacky parts, you will enjoy other parts of it leaving you with no regrets for reading an average to decent novel.
This book moves with the power of an earthquake and hurricane at the same time. Every page is loaded with drama and very accurate information about how things really are in the special ops community. I have stayed up well past my bedtime because I was totally captivated by the story. I recommend the book to any one......start reading it early in the day so it won’t keep you up too late!!
The pain and tension is so high you get tense all over them it goes bang and gets worse. Then it all falls in place and the characters have learned and are ready for more. The plot is a stretch in a few places but at least possible. Now the next book will be totally awesome. It has to be! This whole book was the setup!
Well, I've read all Facebook's in the series...the first was very good and got me started. All in all, by the time I got to start book 5, I was getting pretty sick of Jana and her attitude. On the other hand, by the end of the book, Jana had redeemed herself. It will be interesting to see if these is a book 6 and if the series continues.
This author, Nathan Goodman, includes a lot of emotion, excitement, surprises and details. It is very hard to put the book now. Just keep reading to the end.
Jana thought she'd left the bureau behind her when she moved to a small island to work in a bar. The Kyle went missing and Cade sought her help. A must read in the lives of our intrepid trio.
This was the very best of the Jana Baker series and it kept me reading page after page because I was transported to the place where the action took place. This was so believable that I thought I was right there with the characters.
Rendition protocol was an amazing book kept me on the edge of my seat. The whole time I was reading perfect follow up to the books before I hope there will be a book soon because I’m anxious to read it and I recommend it highly this
fantastic brilliant could not put down this series just had to read one after the other only one problem now can’t seem to get into another book .but a new zeb carter due so may be then xx
Nathan Goodman’s Jana Baker series shines brighter with each novel.
Jana Baker has come along way since she was an innocent job applicant at an investment firm, and was talked into doing the FBI a favour. Now she has thrown her badge into the face of her FBI boss, and dropped out of sight, finding a simpler (and safer) lifestyle in Antigua. She continues to live the whole PTSD experience day by day, through terrifying dreams. She is angry, and making bad judgment calls. She has committed a murder and is being pursued by the local police who want her charged, tried, and sent to prison. She is tracked down by a previous lover who wants to use her as bait in an operation against two competing drug cartels. He would also like to re-connect with her, and comes across as an immature, jealous individual. Which does nothing helpful for Jana’s deteriorating state of mind. Then the story launches into overdrive, and the action heats up and does not let up. I did write a review to the previous Jana Baker novel and gave it four stars, but because I purchased it as part of a bundle, Amazon did not credit me with a “Verified Purchase”, and declined to show it. (I did purchase the single copy in hope of being able to upgrade my review as “Verified Purchase” because I want to encourage as many readers as possible to check out this series of thrillers, but Amazon, having made the decision to disallow the original review, sees no reason to let that be changed. The series is good enough that I was l was willing to pay a second time for a book originally purchased.)
Jana Baker, former special agent. PTSD, her life is in shambles, disarray. All of her past assignments were extremely dangerous. Especially the last one. Nightmares. Her past is unraveling. Her real last name isn't Baker , it's Ames. Her father was Aldrich Ames, former CIA officer. A traitor. Recently paroled. She's been drawn back into the game. Columbian cartels. The CIA is willing to sacrifice another agent, a dear friend to accomplish there goal. Jana will do everything I in her power to rescue him. At all costs. This is an extremely powerful and exciting read. Enjoyed immensely!
