I remember reading the first book about these survivors who have been cursed by the Gods but honestly had no idea that it had become a series. So you can well imagine how happy I was to receive this book. It's a lot shorter than I'd hoped hence my rating but still gave me a lovely time away from reality as I sank beneath the waves and tried to catch up.
Initially I wasn't entirely sure how or why Victoria was transforming as she seemed very confused herself but when Demon swam into the tale ( sorry couldn't resist the pun ! ) things started to become a lot clearer. These Mermen are a lusty lot after they leave the ocean waters but apparently so was Victoria which meant the author could give her readers a romance that was very sexy. I love the ideas in play here with Gods gone missing and it's world building that easily fits into the legend of the fabled Atlantis . Plus we have two factions as the Mermaids here are not the cute Ariel types but more the wicked sirens that lure the unwary to their deaths. A short story admittedly but it actually felt complete in many ways but clearly there's more to come from the Abyss and the Mermen and Mermaids who live there.
This voluntary take is of an advance copy and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair

A Shower Never Felt So Good.......

Victoria is not in her right mind, she's sure she is in hell being punished for teasing Becky in school when she was a kid. She no longer has legs, or arms only fins and a tail...Then there are these demonic little fish taking bites out of her. But when that lucious Demon appears in her sights, it's her who's going to take bites out of him.

Demon never thought he'd find a mate like his brothers, a female to sate his very strong sexual desires, but then when he decides to relieve himself in his shower, he is impaled by the lovely Merr he and his brother rescued from the deeps of the ocean and he swears he has been forgiven by Poseidon, died and gone to heaven.

This was the most emotional book in this series for me. But we learn big things when it comes to the over all plot arch accross the series!

Michelle really has a way of making you wholly invested in the characters in her stories! I cried for the last few chapters until the HEA or HFN (which ever you think the end is.)

Welcome to the underwater world of Atlantes! This is an entertaining paranormal romance involving mermen and mermaids. The world building is incredible as is the mythology and the storyline just pulls you in. It’s a short but sweet love story with action, adventure and romance and Demon and Victoria are fantastic characters!

Victoria had drowned when her vacation rental boat sunk, and she was sent to the dark abyss of the ocean. So she was trapped at the bottom of the oceans, fully aware of everything, breathing the salt water, with too much time to think about her past mistakes. Some of the sea creatures tried to snack on her and it was very unpleasant. Creatures called Olympians, trying unsuccessfully to act like goddesses, held her prisoner and attempted to drown her a second time; however, much of her time with them wasn’t clear because she was still dazed and confused. Her legs had evolved into a fishlike tail! But she was chained to the bottom of the ocean and could not kick free. Her survival depended on making it to a dome that looked like a snow globe, but there was little chance of that happening.

Demon, a Merr Hunter, was patrolling with his brother, Cain, for mermaids and Scylla. If the Merrs did not breathe oxygen in the dome now and then, they would change into mindless Scylla who overturned boats on the surface of the ocean. The mermaids wanted to overthrow the King and take over the world of Atlantes for their Queen. The brothers spotted a traitorous Olympian mermaid, Pirene, and were taking her captive back to the dome. However, before they could do so, the guard worm from under the dome swam out and swallowed her.

Demon suddenly heard a voice – the Merrs communicated telepathically in the water – and had no idea where it came from. It sounded half crazed and made little sense. But Demon had been hoping that, like his two brothers, he would find a human to rescue and make his own. Would Victoria accept him in that way? Was she truly “the One” for Demon? You can be sure that this will not be an easy accomplishment – Demon will definitely have to work for this one if he hopes to succeed!

This was a very different story than I expected, and I liked it for its originality. Atlantes sounded like the origin story for Atlantis, being Poseidon’s curse on the Merrs who had been human but were thrown into the sea to live in the dome which moved along with the ocean currents. Pretty interesting tale! The interaction of the characters was also good. This is an interesting series and I think the reader might enjoy it.

OVERALL RATING –3.5-4 stars

RECOMMENDED FOR: those that like steam with a bit of fantasy romance story.

First my usual points:

- I do not do spoilers unless warned.
- Read the summary above; it will tell you what the book is about. I will not reiterate.
- This is a bit of a standalone but part of a series, different characters in each book, but we first get a better view of the world in book 1 so best enjoyed when read in order.
- No errors that I caught as far as editing.
- The author was pretty new to me but I read the first three books in the series and have enjoyed the fantasy

BOOK:
- Contemporary fantasy romance
- 1st person with dual POV
Other characters from the series:
-- other characters from the first book make appearances with slight involvement of a supporting. nature; characters from second book are mentioned.as well
-- main characters’ story mostly concluded

Star Ratings - 1 (poor) - 5(READ THIS BOOK)
· Writing Quality: 4 stars
· Story ingredient: 4 stars
· Ease of reading/Pace: 5 stars
· Plot strength: 3.5-4 stars I do feel there were some plot holes with these characters
· Steam Level: 5 stars - open door graphic scenes

Notes/Opinion (personal):
This is a 6 book series that interconnects. I would highly suggest it be read in order as some details were covered in earlier books but not in great detail in later books. As with prior books, I did enjoy the story but felt more detail could have been added to strengthen the world and give the characters more depth. There were some questions left between the main characters that I felt could have been answered to make this more complete. There definitely was steam but I felt a bit more of a connect between these characters as opposed to prior characters. I also felt there were some unanswered questions with these characters that were not addressed. The overall arc of the story is definitely indicative of continuing through the other books (which I have not read at this point). I did like the story but again, feel it left some plot holes.

Michelle Pillow-Making Waves (Lords of the Abyss Book5) (Volume5)

Volume 5 in the adventurous, romantic, sexy, humerus Lords of the Abyss series by Michelle Pillow and centers around Demon and Victoria.
Demon is a Merr Hunter who looks for humans in distress and Merr people who are away from Atlantes too long and may have turned or are starting to transform into a “Scylla”. Demon has lost one brother who he was too late in saving and had transformed into this dangerous sea creature.
We met Demon in Book 3 when his lucky brother Rigel found a mate. The men of Atlantis are lonely (and horny) with few women to mate. Demon has almost given up hope. The only way these Merr men find women to mate with is when they rescue a human in the ocean.

Victoria, on a vacation on a rental boat has been captured by the Olympians ( rebel Merr Women causing problems for the Atlantans). They have turned her into Merr by drowning her and for have evil plans for her and the people of Atlantes. Confused and fearful Victoria finds herself chained down in the ocean close to a domed city.

While on patrol Demon hears a female’s pleas for help and rescues her. Victoria at this point is not sure where she is and believes she may be dead and in trouble as she confuses her rescuer for an actual “demon”.

Of course Lord Demon immediately claims the woman, must assure she can be healed and is determined to keep her safe from the evil plotting Olympians.

The novella is not just a romantic fantasy fiction it has excitement, danger and suspense, lots of humor and of course the romantic/sexy storyline. This is a fun awesome series and I would have loved for these books to be longer.
Although a short story it is complete with non stop action, wonderful world building and great characters. One of my favorite series from this author, I am hoping we get the King’s story in the near future.

More Backstory and Riveting, Touching Romance

This is the second book I've listened to in this series, and as I unfortunately typically do, I'm listening to them out of order! However, I was still able to completely understand and enjoy the story even though I'm listening to the series out of order. I actually enjoyed this book better than the first one I listened to because of the drama our poor heroine was subjected to at the beginning and end of the story. I feel like the author did a better job explaining the world in this book than the other one. I actually felt like I learned more about the entire setup of why the mermen live deep in the abyss and why their mission is so important to them. This book has quite a bit of steam while the couple is together. Whenever the merfolk come from time in the ocean, they are overcome with “the affliction,” as they call it, which means they really want to get it on! Even though this audiobook is relatively brief, a little over 2 hours, the author did a great job with the characterization, so much that when everything looked bleak at the end, it actually made me tear up. The hero was so devoted to the heroine--though they hadn't been together long when tragedy struck--even placing himself in harm's way. So touching! A totally swoon-worthy hero. And they also discovered something that will undoubtedly change things for the merfolk and the bad guys, giving the good guys a decided edge. I look forward to listening to other books in this series!

This book was a lovely surprise for me because it was quite different from the other books in the series .

Demon is a merr hunter who is now have two brother whose found there happy ending with their beautiful wives so now he is feeling lonely and he is envaing them cuz he don't have that. I thought Brutus was weird but his twin Demon definitely changed my mind, these two brothers seem clueless when it came in how flirt with woman and how to made the woman love them but I admit they have their adorable ways in doing so . When he and Caid went out of their city he found something waiting for him.

Victoria is a woman who was forced to be in the water, so she was confused about alot of things so as usual with the women in this series she did something stupid.

I enjoyed this book, everything about it was new and suprising. I cried and laughed and I was on the edge of my seat to find what is going to happen and the ending was so good and beautiful. But here is my problem with it, the beginning of their relationship was unconvincing, I did didn't understand why she said what she said. In that part of the book I needed more which is why it's not a 5 Star for me nevertheless , it was a beautiful book that will make you emotional.

Demon is always on the lookout for any humans in distress and this is his task at present.
When he does come across a human female who has been anchored to the sea floor, he is quick to save her life.
Thinking his dreams have finally come true as he looks upon this beautiful woman, the bubble soon bursts.
She is being hunted and doesn't trust him at all.
He makes it his mission to protect this stunning creature and hopefully win her heart and affection along the way.
Demon is sure this is his one and only but she will take some persuading.

Another fantastic book in this merman series which takes one of the lonely and spins a tale surrounding their fight for love.
I have thoroughly enjoyed each book for its own merits and this is no different.
In a way I do like that the women are hesitant and there is drama involved or the story wouldn't be nearly as satisfying at the end.
The author knows just how to write such an addictive and soul capturing story which almost swallows you whole.
I could get lost in this watery world and be happy never to resurface.
Who needs a typical man when you can have a merman?

Remember Book #3, with Rigel? Well this is the book about one of his brothers, Demon. Sexy sounding name for an even sexier hunter. This book was the story of how he found his wife, Victoria. Their story was a quick, sweet, and sexy ride. Not only do we get to learn about their story, but their story leads to a better understanding and a change in the game for The Lords of the Abyss series. I can't wait to read the next book.

I found this book to be sweet and sexy. Victoria was a likable heroine. She was also very funny and straight to the point. That's what captured my attention in the first few page. Mind you, the cover was sexy and whet my curiosity, but within the first few pages I was cracking up. Demon, the brave and sexy hunter, he was a lovable hero. A brave, devoted, and sincere hero. Did I mention sexy? Well he is that too. The care and compassion and formidable honesty of his feelings for Victoria, really got to me.

I felt like their story was pretty short, but it as enough to capture a piece of my heart. They had difficulties but overcame them fairly swiftly. Overall, their story gets a 3.2* from me.

Victoria was tossed off the boat she was on, only to be delivered by evil mermaids

Demon was a hunter. A select few who travelled around searching for the scylla who were tearing apart boats. On this night he was not near the surface. He was actually by the entrance of there dome. He heard a female voice, but couldn't find the body associated with it. He was with his brothers, so he kept the conversation light. Looking for the person. The voice was cursing him! What did he do now?? Finding the female on the sea floor, chained and a mermaid! He quickly looked her over seeing she was slowly turning to a scylla. He grabbed her and raced to the dome. Knowing the healer was his first stop. By all the gods, how did this happen??
Victoria was so confused, shaking from being out of the water; but snuggled in warm arms. She was lucid from time to time. Was this hell and a demon caught her? Why warm her up, not let her die? So many questions. She heard a conversation going on, but too weak and tired to do anything. What was going on here? She was drowned twice becoming a mermaid herself! How is this happening to her?

Demon Finally Gets His Chance at Love!

Victoria is having a great time on vacation when the boat she rents is sunk and she is dragged to the bottom of the ocean by the Olympians. Then they take her out and drown her again turning her into a mermaid. She is living in hell and losing touch with reality. They take her out again and chain her to the ocean floor trying to turn her into a Scylla. Fortunately Demon, who is out on patrol, finds her and takes her back to Ataran. She becomes Demon’s ward. She is so beautiful, how can he not fall in love with her? They get married and he is taking her to his home in the country when the Olympians lure her away from him. Demon is crushed that he didn’t protect her better. Now he is off looking for her again. This is a great book and a little different than the others in that Victoria is already down there and a mermaid when he finds her. As the series progresses we get little hints of what is really going on with the Scylla. Can’t wait for the next one!

Making Waves, the 5th book in Pillow’s Lords of the Abyss series, is a fun undersea adventure that builds on and deepens the mythos of the series, and definitely is best enjoyed by those who have read other series novels. It can be read by newbies, I’d say, but there is something of a learning curve to wrapping your head around the story.

For returning readers… Making Waves is an eventful romance that opens up all sorts of new aspects the undersea continent and those who are cursed to live there. Like others in the series, there’s a lot of story going on with some hot sex and insta-love elements and a few old-fashioned hero bits tucked away. The romance itself is good, but somewhat lost against the events going on in the story. There’s a nice HEA to round things off, but the real payoff for this story is in how it advances the bigger series story questions. I enjoyed the read, and the revelations, and look forward to where Pillow takes the story next.

Audiobook review:

I enjoyed Demon’s story a lot!

After Demon, the merman finds a woman in the middle of the ocean close to change he attempts to rescue her. Yet he is a bit in love with her. Oh those merman fall in love quick.
This is such a good short story. I was laughing a bit because Victoria originally thought that she was in hell and she was with a Demon. But we know that he isn’t a actual Demon but a merman. So it was funny for me. There is a bit of action and of course a few steamy scenes but it was interesting as I felt we learned a bit of background history to their curse and they may have found a solution to a big problem they had.
The narrator, Rebecca Cook is wonderful!! I don’t know how she does it but her male voices are amazing. It’s like there another male narrator there with her recording the male voices. It is outstanding and she really pulls you into the story and it feels like your right there alongside with the mermaids and merman’s. If your looking for a quick listen, then consider picking up this series.

Lords of the abyss is back again ! Yeah
And it's lord Demon chance
Victoria was on vacation and had rented boat having a great time until ............ the Olympians found her. They drag her down to thier under water kingdom then re drowned her turning her into Merr if that wasn't crazy enough they drag her outside of the Dome and it's protective spell channing her up to see now long she could last with out turning Scylla
Lord Demon is one of the men that hunt the Scylla and Olympians for king Lucius in Atlantis it's the kingdom under the dome. On one of his trips out he heard a woman's voice in his head a freed her just before she could turn and brought her home
And that is where our story begins and it's never that easy it's full of danger, missunderstandings and spice. I love the characters, the action, mystery and storyline. It was a great read as all of michelle pillow's books have been so far for me. I highly recommend it

Victoria believes she is in hell. Her ship was sunk by mermaids who believe they are Gods and she has been chained to the bottom of the ocean. Demon has finally been granted a gift from the Gods. He was out patrolling the waters for the pesky mermaids, they caught one and she was eaten by the giant patrol worm. Little do they know there is another mermaid out there who needs their help. Victoria is about to become a scylla, the very things that Demon and the other hunters are out there searching for in order to atone to the Gods. Lucky for her they find her before she turns but they're still not sure if she will make it and this is where their story begins. There is plenty of suspense, love and intrigue in this story. I absolutely love the Lords of the Abyss series and this one was just as well written as the others. Victoria and Demon are a match made in Heaven. This is a short story but it is no way lacking and I highly recommend it.

Making Waves is the fifth book in the Lords of the Abyss series by Michelle M. Pillow.

This was a fantastic surprise full of romance, adventure, and mystery.

Demon is a Merr Hunter. He was near the dome when he heard a female voice calling his name specifically cursing his name. Curious, he went towards the voice where he found a female that seemed to be turning into a scylla. A scylla are mindless creatures who did not breathe oxygen from the done.

Victoria was on vacation when her rental boat sunk. She went straight to the dark abyss of the ocean. Sea creatures called the Olympians wanted to expand their numbers so they attempted to test her by holding her prisoner and testing her chained down in the bottom of the ocean.

I adored this book! I loved the thrill and anticipation of what was happening throughout the book. There was mystery and romance combined in one. I do not normally ready stories located in the ocean, but I loved this!

A fun day out in a boat gone wrong. Victoria found herself chained at the bottom of the sea. A gorgeous man--a merman--found her and said he was rescuing her. What she saw was impossible but so much better.
Demon was hunting for dangers. The gorgeous woman couldn't be dangerous or could she. He would save her. He would be fortunate like his brothers and have a mate of his own. If only she would agree and he could keep her from her enemies.
A short offering from the author's Lords of the Abyss series. The world building is wonderful as are the characters. She manages to give us a complete story in a short novella. Good characters, steam and a HEA. This is one of my favorite series of Ms. Pillows.
I voluntarily reviewed this advanced reader copy and I have not been compensated in any way.

Lord Demon lives a harsh reality at the bottom of the sea where he has been surviving for the last 1000 years from the punishment of the Gods for the arrogance of his peoples last existence above.. He is a warrior who helps protect and fight against the Olympians and other sea creatures that are trying to destroy Atlantes. He hears a womans voice he can hear her talking telepathically but doesn't see her when he finds her she is almost dead they rush her back to the dome to save her life but the healer would do nothing. Victoria awakes and runs away from Demon because she thought that was what he was and she jump into a pool which made her feel stronger but didn't keep him from her. This is a short romantic suspense. I was given a copy as a gift from the author. I am providing an honest review without obligation.

This story about Demon and Victoria was a little different storyline from the previous Merr books when the Merr saves a human women from drowning and claims her as a mate. Demon does come to the rescue of Victoria who is chained under the sea, but Victoria thinks she's been sent to a watery hell after her boat crashed and Demon is a demon. Demon is patrolling with Cain around the Atlantes dome when they find Pirene a mermaid for the Olympians. They try to take her to their dome city when a giant worm arrives and eats her. Demon then hears a voice and goes to check it out and finds Victoria. Why is she chained? I did find this story a enjoyable read, the characters likable, and the storyline with the romance and action kept my interest in this Merr romance. Story: Victoria (h) drowns when her rental boat sinks and she's trapped underwater to be captured by the Olympians, hostile Mer women who imprison her and try to drown her again. Demon (H), a Mer hunter, is patrolling for Scylla when he hears Victoria's pleas for help and saves her, bringing her into the Atlantean dome. He wants a human wife and is drawn to Victoria, wanting to claim her as his, but he'll have to convince her. As they get to know one another, there's plenty of hot and steamy action, alongside action and adventure with the Olympians.

Audio: The audiobook uses a single narrator for the story - which often causes me to complain about how much I dislike a female narrator trying to do male voices, but not the case this time! I actually really enjoyed the female narrator in this audiobook, and felt she did a really good job with both the female and male voices.

I loved this book! It was my favorite in the series so far (and my favorite heroine, as I've had my issues with a couple of the previous ones). Great world building and wonderful characters. I love that Victoria wasn't rescued from drowning by one of the Merr and then brought to Atlantes; she had been taken by the Olympians and was already changed into a mermaid (and nearly more!) when Demon found her anchored at the bottom of the sea. She was confused and thought Demon was an actual demon, but came to understand the truth. We get some more revelations about the Olympians and things are starting to come to a head! I can't wait to find out what will happen next!

Rebecca Cook continues to narrate this series and does a fantastic job! I love all the different voices she does and the emotion there.

Overall: 5 stars
Performance: 5 stars
Story: 5 stars

"Making Waves" by Michelle M. Pillow is a captivating and romantic tale that turns the traditional little mermaid story on its head! Demon, a merman shapeshifter, rescues a woman from the ocean floor and is determined to win her heart, despite the danger and conflict that surrounds them. Pillow's writing is engaging, and the characters are well-developed and relatable. The underwater world of Atlantes is vividly described, and the paranormal elements add a thrilling layer to the story. This book is a must-read for fans of paranormal romance, merman romances, and rescue stories. With its unique twist on the classic tale, "Making Waves" will keep you hooked until the very end.

A new installment in this series about mermen in Atlantis. Demon finds Victoria chained in the ocean. A hostile group of mermaids has taken her to the ocean. Demon saves her and together they live happily ever after. Only..... Victoria turns out not to be safe yet, what are the mermaids up to? This story ends somewhat on a cliffhanger, in that it is not yet clear what the enemy mermaids are up to. It is an accessible, entertaining, light-hearted story with a fairytale quality, who has never fantasized about Atlantis?

This book can easily be read as a stand-alone, but you will get more out of it as part of the series. Each book builds more and more of the back story of Atlantis. Book 5 is the story of Demon and Victoria. While in the other books the lady is rescued from drowning, this time Victoria is already anchored to the sea floor by the evil Olympians. Demon comes across Victoria and rescues here. I don’t want to spoil on how their romance develops. I enjoyed the story, as I have the series overall. I am looking forward to the next in the series. Narrator did a good job, felt the voices were distinctly different.

I have loved every last Lords of Abyss novel and this one was no exception I was waiting on Demon's book I had hoped he would be next and I was right. This was an amazing read and Demon has always been my favorite merman and he is the ultimate protector. I think Victoria and Demon were a very good match after reading this story I cannot see him with someone else. I've always loved that these stories are so far from the normal merman and mermaids stories that we have grown used to and I cannot wait for the next book.

This is the story about Demon and Victoria.

Unlike his brothers Demon doesn't rescue his mate from the surface for fear of drowning, she's already done that although at the hands of the evil Olympians. They very quickly get together as you'd expect if you've read the other books and she helps him with the secret to the Scylla.

I just wish that a little bit more attention would be given to the character development. These books need just a bit more padding, especially when you pay £3 for a book which takes an hour and ten minutes to read (and only because you are reading slowly)

Amazing!

Book 5 is Demon Warrior's turn at love only instead of saving the damsel from drowning, he is saving her from becoming a scylla. Very emotional moment from our coerced into a mermaid Victoria by the Olympians. Finding there is dissention in Queen Maria's ranks, the king has proclaimed war when one too many women are becoming captives and sacrifices. Well worth reading. Plus we see the great extreme Demon does for his love - his perseverance, dedication, love, faith and loyalty to save his lady. Wonderful.

This book 5 in the Lords of the Abyss Book Series is a steamy standalone shifter Romance with a tough, rugged and sexy alpha male and sassy female. This well written book has amazing characters who are well crafted with unique histories. This has an amazing storyline with good depth and world construction. The Characters in this book are well crafted with problems which they resolve and the characters evolve through out the story.
