I've always loved the written word. For as long as I can remember, I read as much as I could, as often as I could. Cereal boxes, newspapers, product packaging. Ebony, Essence, and Jet Magazine. Billboards. I loved it all. I read the entire Fear Street series, as well as the Sweet Valley Books, from Twins and Friends through Sweet Valley High. Each week I'd bring 15 or 20 books home from the library, and read them all before the due date.

Now, my mother owned a pristine, barely touched collection of Harlequin romance novels, and I was not to touch them under any circumstances. Well, as a teenager, you know what that meant. I read some of them, and got my first introduction to romance.

When I was sixteen, I picked up my stepmother's copy of Night Song, by Beverly Jenkins. The cover showed an obviously historical image of a black couple, against a beautiful backdrop, locked in a passionate embrace. With my love of history, I had to crack this book. What I read inside literally blew my mind. I was exposed to a wonderful, touching love story involving people who looked like me! What a thrill. To this day Night Song remains my favorite book, and I credit it with planting the seed of desire to write romance. I didn't get serious until many years later, but that's where it all began.

A San Diego Romance by Kianna Alexander is a sexy second chance romance for two college sweethearts. It’s part of the multi-author Millionaire Moguls series about a group of men who belong to the San Diego chapter of Prescott George, a club for African American millionaires.

Chris Marland is a hard working, successful architect and a divorced father of teenaged twins. He’s the president of the local Prescott George chapter and it’s been having some problems lately, with a break-in and a vandalism charge from one of their members against his own daughter. It’s particularly bad timing with an upcoming gala they are supposed to host. When Eliza Ellicott, his college girlfriend shows up looking for her brother and fellow member Vaughn, it’s a blast from the past, and a good one. While Chris had ended things with Eliza fourteen years earlier for reasons he didn’t divulge at the time, he’d been on the rebound when he met the woman who would become his wife due to an unexpected pregnancy. He’d put thoughts of Eliza out of his head and been faithful to his wife. But now that he’s divorced, he can admit how good it is to see her again.

Eliza’s heart was broken when Chris dumped her, but she’s long since moved on. She’s had some relationships since then, though none have stuck. Still, she’ll be the first to admit that she’s thought of him in the ensuing years. He’s even more handsome now than he was when they were young, and he makes it clear he’s interested in rekindling their friendship, and something more. Eliza has her own successful business with a designer boutique that is gaining a lot of new clients. Though she’d always wanted kids too, and had hoped to have a career and a family, she’d ended up with just the career.

When Chris asks her out on a date, Eliza is wary. She doesn’t want to get involved with Chris again if it’s only going to end in a broken heart. She agrees to seeing him as friends, and is a sounding board for his relationship with his kids. It doesn’t take long for the attraction between them to heat up. Before they’d taken things slowly and never been fully intimate. This time around, Eliza is ready to make her own choices and is happy to indulge in some mutual sexual satisfaction. When Chris realizes he wants more, will he be able to convince Eliza that they really do belong together?

I really enjoyed this reunion romance! Eliza is a confident, smart businesswoman who has worked hard to make her boutique successful. She’s knowledgeable about fashion and style and helps her customers make flattering choices – including Chris’s daughter JoJo who needs a dress for a school dance. Chris’s equally successful and his home is a beautiful example of his architectural style, complete with an infinity pool. He’s currently working on a design for a new museum of sustainable art and true to the theme of the museum he’s doing his best to use green materials in the design. The plot is current and the setting is well described and inviting.

Chris’s relationship with his thirteen year old twins, a boy and a girl is challenging but rewarding. Though he only gets them for part of the time, he tries to make the most of it even though they are at the age where hanging out with Dad is not their favorite pastime. Though he and his ex-wife don’t have the best relationship he is careful never to speak ill of her in front of his kids, which is admirable. Then there is the matter of JoJo being accused of vandalizing a sculpture, something Chris must deal with, as well as figuring out who is trying to damage the reputation of the club.

Chris comes to treasure the times he spends with Eliza whom he can confide in, and finds himself falling in love with her all over again. They share some steamy scenes together as they reconnect. As for Eliza, she feels the same way about Chris. There are a few ups and downs and some interesting revelations on the way to the happy ending for this couple but it’s well worth it. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author and catching up on the other books in this series!

As the Millionaire Moguls series draws to an end Ms. Alexander give us a well written story making a complete circle to the first two books, given closure and answering all questions. A prefect closing, leaving the Ellicott family a stronger as a unit. Love this series.

I am so loving this Millionaire Moguls Series In San Diego. If you all have not read this series beginning with the Millionaires Mogul Series In Miami you really should it is truly a great series.

This is the first book that I read by Kianna Alexander. She did a great job. I will definitely be purchasing and reading more books by this author.

Chris and Eliza have loved each other for Chris sometime. Chris walked away from married another, had twins boy and girl who are now teenagers. Eliza moved to NY to pursue her career. Eliza has since returned to San Diego opened a clothing store for women and is keeping a low profile as to not see Chris. A chance meeting at the Prescott George brings Eliza face to face to Chris.

Chris is busy trying to find out who is out to destroy the San Diego Prescott George headquarters located in San Diego where he is President, will he and Eliza have a chance at love, will Chris's ex Sheila rune it and will the culprit who is behind destroying be revealed. For all the answers pick up a copy of "A San Diego Romance. You will not be disappointed.

A broken heart gave Eliza the drive to succeed and she’s opened a new boutique. She’ll gladly help Chris’s teenage daughter, but her heart is closed to him since he left her without explanation finding out only now that he left because her dad threatened him and his career. Can she learn to trust again? They finally discover that another chapter of Prescott Glen was jealous of their award and committed the act of vandalism and the bad press. Chris’ daughter destroyed the sculpture because she was mad her dad for spending so much time at the club.

Renewed love and uplifting family connections

Finally an answer to the San Diego Prescott George problems! This was a great story of renewed love and uplifting family connections. Eliza and Chris reconnect after years apart and begin the relationship they were denied when younger. This story also included a fantastic father daughter relationship that is enviable. What made me only give this four stars was that on more than one occasion the story jumps from one setting to another without smooth transition. These jumps often made it difficult to follow the story line. In general this was a good read.

I enjoyed this love story immensely between Eliza and Chris! It was a love that should have never ended while dating the first time regardless of the five year age difference, however, the second time around was a charm and far better! After all. Eliza is Colonel Ellicott's youngest daughter and he's the same person that interfered with his son's relationship as well! Great storyline and I'm glad that we are making headway in the investigation as to who's behind all the mischief at the prestigious, Prescott George!

Who Did It?

Definitely enjoyed the story and I’m even reading the books suggested in between the series.

I did not like how the mishap was solved, but at least we know who did it!

This was a fun fast read with a great reminder about slowing down and enjoying time with people around you. I read this book for the Extreme Book Nerd Challenge - a book with a city in the title. It is an adult read but a good one!
