WOW what a story this one is, so much happening so much action and of course a beautiful romance throughout, I loved the setting and the characters so many people good and bad to heighten the danger as K-9 cop Brayden Colton and true crime filmmaker Esme Da Costa embark on a journey to a beautiful HEA in which there is lots of danger and threats along the way as well as a sensual romance.

Single mum Esme has arrived in Red Ridge to do a story on the Groom Killer who has taken to murdering grooms before their wedding days, trying to get a story and interviewing people especially one cop Brayden is very difficult seeing as how his half-sister is the main suspect, but when she does meet him the sparks fly instant attraction and Esme and her son Rhys are both hooked, her heart melts with the way the Brayden and Rhys become close.

Brayden and his K-9 partner Echo are a solitary team Brayden has been hurt before and with everything that is going on in Red Ridge at the moment getting close to someone is not in his plans, but meeting Esme and her son cause sparks and emotions to run high and when they are in a dangerous situation nothing will stop him from protecting them, as they move in with him the heat gets higher as does the danger.

I loved this story from start to finish, it is edge of your seat suspense and the romance between Brayden and Esme is just beautiful, not to mention Echo and Rhys. MS Godman has bought to life these people making them friends I could feel their pain and worry throughout the story and cannot highly recommend this one enough thank you so much MS Godman for another fabulous story that had me turning the pages I didn’t want to put this one down.

Colton and the Single Mom is book 4 of an exciting Harlequin Romantic Suspense series called The Coltons of Red Ridge. Over 6 books we get to know the Colton's as they are faced with a variety of challenges which test them and also lead them to love.

Esmee is a true-crime film maker and trying to nail a story and the case of serial killer called the Bridegroom Killer. The bad guy (or is it a "guy" in the true sense) has other thoughts and things don't go well. Brayden Colton wants to stop Esmee interfering, worrying she'll uncover things best left alone. He's also the only suspect's half brother - eeek!

What a wonderful adventure I was taken on, I need to read more Romantic Suspense stories and the more I read of the Colton's stories the more I want to read the rest. I loved the interaction between Esmee and Brayden. Esmee's son added to the story and I loved the well thought out plot along with more intrigue about the Colton's and their history which has been touched on previously. I love the cover and I think Jane Godman did a fantastic job of holding my attention until the very last page.

A throughly enjoyable story with characters you want to know more and revisit. Loved it!

COLTON AND THE SINGLE MOM by author Jane Godman is April 2018 release by Harlequin Romantic Suspense series.

Esmee da Costa is trying to find out the truth about the serial killer who is dubbed as the ‘Bridegroom Killer’ as he is on a killing spree of all the grooms in this small town. And the only suspect is the half-sister of cop Brayden Colton.

Brayden wants to keep Esmee away from prying but he can’t help the chemistry he feels when she is near. And then he had to invite Esmee and her young son to move into his home. Now, how will he keep Esmee away from prying into his family? And would Esmee be able to uncover the secrets?

COLTON AND THE SINGLE MOM is an intriguing romance with off the charts chemistry between Esmee and Brayden. Author Jane Godman has her unique way of spellbinding her readers and keeping them engrossed in the story till the very last page. I loved the mystery and intrigue aspect of this story.

Highly recommended for all readers of romance.

It was a good book, but I always look for more passion. Here is a highlight from the book....

He leaned against the door frame, looking down at her. “What are you picturing?” “I, um...” She looked adorably confused. “I just want to be with you, Brayden. I love you. I don’t need bells and ribbons.” His pulse raced with joy every time he looked at her. Hearing her say she loved him in return made his heart do a backward somersault. “Esmée, before I met you, I thought life was complicated. It was like a puzzle that everyone else understood and I didn’t get. I tried falling in love once and it was too damn difficult. Now I know that was because it wasn’t love. I was dazzled by something that was dressed up to look like it. Finding you was like finding a missing piece to the puzzle. Suddenly, everything made sense. There was nothing complicated about it, after all. I just needed you to make me complete. Loving you is the easiest, simplest thing in the world and I’m going to do it for the rest of my life.” Her mischievous smile peeped out. “I thought I was the talker?” “Shh. I’m not finished.” He caught hold of her around the waist. “Now that I’ve found you, I do want bells and ribbons. I want everything with you. I want to buy you the biggest engagement ring Red Ridge has ever seen. I want a wedding that will rock Bea’s Bridal back on its heels. I want Quinn to be working until midnight every night for a month on the cake. I want Rhys to have the cutest page-boy outfit so Sarah and Hester don’t know whether to laugh or cry. I want it all and then I want forever.” By the time he’d finished, she was crying and laughing at the same time. “But the Groom Killer...” “I know. I’m crazy about you, Esmée. But I’m not crazy. We’ll keep this between us until the killer—the killer who is not my sister Demi—is caught.” His heart was pounding as though he’d run a marathon. “Say something.” “I want all those things, too, Brayden.” She stood on the tips of her toes and looped her arms around his neck.

4 1/2 STARS!

Danger and excitement abound in the latest visit to Red Ridge! I'm enjoying this series a lot and looking forward to finding out who the culprit is! This particular book gave us Brayden Colton's story and showed us yet another side to the family. He's a good guy and it's fun to watch him connect with Esmee and her son. Nicely developed story line with interesting characters.

With a serial killer on the loose, K-9 cop Brayden Colton doesn't have time to play games with the reporter type woman that's trying to interview him about his half-sister Demi who happens to be the prime suspect. He knows she isn't capable of this, but he has to stay on top of making sure everyone else knows it too.

True-crime filmmaker Esmee da Costa is planning to do a documentary on the killing spree, but once Brayden and his K-9 partner help her son out, she's eternally grateful and promises to help him look for info to clear his sister and not do the story until the investigation is over. She's not out to get him and his family ... if anything, she starts hoping to become a part of it!

COLTON AND THE SINGLE MOM by Jane Godman (The Coltons of Red Ridge)

Brayden Colton is a K-9 cop. He has been trying to make sure his sister Demi was proved innocent of being the “The Groom Killer”. He knew Demi was capable of a lot of things however being a killer was not one of him.
Esmee da Costa was a true crime filmmaker who was starting to do a documentary about the “The Groom Killer”.
Esmee has a little boy who is 2 years old and named Rhys. Due to a traumatic occurrence he did not talk and it was not until he met Brayden dog Echo that he uttered a word and then kept going.
Brayden was not looking for a female partner in his off duty life and was not looking for a ready made family. Esmee was not looking for a male partner in her life either. Sparks flying between the two might make a different ending for what would happen between the 2.
Jane Godman wrote a story that made me want to keep reading and not put down, and I hope you will all enjoy this story.

I am not generally a romantic suspense reader but something about this book pulled me in. I am so glad i read it, it really does pull you in. It has Esmee Da Costa who job it is to is find out about a serial killer called "the bridegroom killer" . Brayden Colton is a cop and his very concerned because his sister is the prime suspect. Brayton wants Esmee where he can watch her so he invites her to stay with her son in his home where he can keep and eye on her. From here you go on a mystery ride that will have you guessing till the end, then you will do as i did and go get the rest of this series. Wonderful intense story and Ms. Godman's writing is superb. Don't miss this one.

Colton And The Single Mom is a well-written romantic suspense by Jane Godman. Ms. Godman has given readers a story loaded with outstanding characters, drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. This book held me hostage from the first page until the last. I enjoyed reading Colton And The Single Mom and look forward to reading more from Jane Godman. Colton And The Single Mom is book 4 of The Coltons of Red Ridge Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

I read a print copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

"Colton and the Single Mom (The Coltons of Red Ridge #4) by Jane Godman has s a little of everything for the reader of romance. Intrigue, danger, and love that comes from the unlikely pairing of K-9 cop Brayden Colton and Esmee da Costa who is a film maker. Especially since the prime suspect is Brayden's half-brother.

This has the most developed "suspense" plot of all that I have read of this series so far. I really enjoyed Brayden and Esmee's story. I also enjoyed learning more about the Coltons of Red Ridge as a family; it's helpful context for the other books of the series.

COLTON AND THE SINGLE MOM is the most intense and suspense-filled story yet in this series… although, I suspect that won’t last as we move ever closer to finding out who the real Groom Killer truly is.

Brayden is the most vocal of the members of the police force to proclaim that his half-sister Demi is not a serial killer, in spite of growing evidence against her. The last thing he wants to be is saddled with a documentary filmmaker who, no doubt, will blow everything out of proportion and convince the entire world of his sister’s guilt before she is found, arrested and tried… if they don’t catch the real killer first. So he’s been avoiding the lady… but that won’t work for long since his boss is intent on him doing this interview and the lady herself is quite determined to talk to this wants to remain silent K-9 officer.

Esmée is an intriguing character. She’s battling her own demons, yet in spite of that, she’s determined to find out what really happened in this small town with what appears to be a serial killer ending the lives of grooms immediately before their wedding can take place. She’s not convinced that Demi is the Groom Killer and her slant on this documentary will change Brayden’s opinion about her work… that and the almost instant firey attraction he feels for her.

Although Brayden and Esmée are the love interests in COLTON AND THE SINGLE MOM, I can pretty much guarantee that you’re going to fall in love with little Rhys and one brave, adorable canine police officer by the name of Echo. These two steal scenes constantly, unashamedly and they will definitely steal your heart.

The action is fast-paced in COLTON AND THE SINGLE MOM and will have you flipping pages quickly (or at least, I did). There is a very real danger to Esmée and Rhys developing, and watching Brayden deal with that danger is heartstopping and shows this man’s true colors. I fell in love with this new family unit and hope to catch glimpses of them throughout the rest of this series.

I don’t want to give anything away for you should experience this one firsthand… but I absolutely was glued to the pages, and that’s not something that happens a lot. But when it does, when finding out what happens next is more important than any of the other things I should be doing… that’s when I know I’ve got a winner and a keeper on my hands. Loved this one, and would recommend it and the entire series to any reader who enjoys a good love story, putting puzzles together, heart-stopping danger and the adorableness of a little boy and one special dog. Yeah, I had a blast with this story.

I own a Kindle edition of this story.

Colton and the Single Mom, Jane Godman's contribution to The Coltons of Red Ridge, is rife with danger and turbulent scenarios that keep you on the edge of your seat! When true-crime filmmaker Esmée da Costa opted to focus her attention on a serial killer on the loose, she never expected to put her and her son's lives in danger. However, one particular cop will risk it all to help her, but is it to protect her or does he have his own agenda? I enjoyed the tension and the suspense the author created in this story. Also the build-up of feelings between Esmée and Brayden makes this exciting read even more satisfying.

This was a fun story - a good mix of suspense, mystery, and romance. Esmee & Brayden are great characters (though Echo & Rhys often steal the show!). There's a lot to figure out as they work their ways through their pasts to try to find their future. A great read!
