I'm learning to just let some things slide with this one. For example, just one person's intellect, talent, and savvy is reforming the way an entire [state? territory?] is run, but Iris meets with no resistance whatsoever except from obviously nasty people, or those who nurse a simple, individual resentment against her. Capitalism Is Good, Actually, and there are absolutely no problems associated with it that can't be fixed with proper taxation levels. There are also no riots or other systemic problems. (The idea of "mutiny" is dismissed in one panel in either this volume or the previous one.) Iris knows about double-entry bookkeeping from her previous life, but also knows everything that needs to be known about every branch of government, and can recreate recipes for pretty much anything from our world for bulk manufacture, including hair conditioner!

Still, it's refreshing to read an isekai with a smart, strong-willed female lead, and without the slightest whiff of romance (yet?).

Of the supporting cast, Tanya's my favorite. A loyal retainer/ninja in a maid's outfit!

This...is surprisingly good! Who knew an otome about banking would be good?

Iris is a good MC, but this is treading into Mary Sue territory here so I'd like to see her get a little messed up next volume. The brother probably pulls something...

4.5 stars. There is so much information about capitalism, business, and a bit of government with a dash of social politics. Teach me all the things in this form. I don't think it's something I would like, all information dumped everywhere, but I'm here for it.

Addicting

A series where the heroine spends most of her time reading reports and talking about capitalism shouldn't be so captivating. For some reason, I cannot tire of Iris in her win mode. I want Iris to have all the win. I'm looking forward to when Dean makes his entrance.

Sooooooo, I have tried to read this over the course of three days, but I’m very bored with the world building and the explanations of trade and commerce. While the summary and idea is something that I enjoy, this series isn’t hitting the mark for me. Thus, I have stopped reading this on chapter 15 and will no longer continue the series.

Iris bernegosiasi dgn para bangsawan Fief ttg bisnis dan rencananya utk memajukan wilayah Fief, meski awalnya agak alot. Namun bbrp dr mereka akhirnya setuju krn yakin dgn ide visioner Iris.

Bisnis coklat Iris pun berjalan lancar berkat bantuan ibunya yg mrp sosialita kerajaan karena statusnya sbg anak petinggi militer. Ibunya berkunjung ke Fief, mengeluh krn Berne bersikap seolah spt bawahan Edward pdhl rencana awalnya adlh Berne ditugaskan utk memata2i Edward oleh keluarga Iris. Bahkan seolah gak sudi jika Berne adlh anaknya.

Dia bahkan melihat byk ketimpangan.

Walau akhirnya ibunya memaksa Iris utk menunjukkan pd Berne apa yg dikerjakannya, spy Berne tdk lagi mengeluh.

Berne tdk percaya dgn apa yg Iris lakukan di hadapannya skrg. Berbeda dgn Iris yg dikenalnya saat di akademi, Iris tampak sibuk mengerjakan berbagai hal, meski sampai larut. Pdhl dia juga dipaksa membantu pekerjaan, namun Iris begitu serius. Iris pun menegur adiknya ingin bertanya knp milih berpihak sama Edward pdhl dia adlh successor ayahnya. Iris bahkan mengancam jika Berne benar2 berubah sisi, dia akan mjd musuh keluarganya sendiri. Posisi ayahnya adlh perdana menteri yg bergerak sesuai perintah raja, namun keluarga Iris tahu jika raja skrg tdk memerintah dgn bijak dan benar. Iris juga mengompori Berne bahwa tdk mungkin jika Berne berpihak ke Edward hanya karena perintah raja semata, pasti ada motif personal yg gak mau diakui oleh Berne sptnya sih Berne ini suka sama Yuri 😅

Today's post is on Accomplishments of the Duke's Daughter, volume 2 by Reia and Suki Umemiya. It is 161 pages long and published by Seven Seas. It is the second in the series and you need to have read the first volume to understand what is going on. The cover has the main character on it with one of her assistants. There is no foul language, no sex, and no violence in this manga.

From the back of the book- FANTASY MEETS HIGH FINANCE
Iris used to be an ordinary office drone addicted to otome games...then she woke up in one! Now, Iris is determined to use her real world smarts to start her own business. But for Iris's plans to succeed, she'll have to overhaul the entire country's feudal system.

Review- We continue with Iris as she tries to make a living in her new world. We see more of the world with Iris' mother and grandfather coming to stay with her and then her younger brother. This is an interesting and fun story and Iris is a good main character. She is interesting, fun, and has a backbone. We are starting to get rumbling about a larger plot to do with the girl who stole the prince from Iris before the start of the story. The plot is not fast-paced but it is so different from other isekai's out there, it deserves to be looked at. I am looking forward to seeing more of the plot and what Iris is going to do.

I give this volume a Five out of Five stars. I get nothing for my review and I bought this manga with my own money.

Iris's mom, grandfather, and brother make their appearance and I could not be happier.

Following off of the second volume, Iris continues with her plans to revitalize her father's fiefdom by using her modern knowledge to solve issues. We see her setting up a new business, creating a banking system, and constructing a school for commoners to learn trades. Towards the end of the volume, we get to see the family drama and political scene that occurred after Iris' condemnation event from chapter 1. Like the first, this second volume is all about laying the foundation for Iris's eventual success.

So while I did enjoy this volume a bit more than the previous one, I will say this second installment is more dry. This is because she is introducing and explaining capitalist ideas/structures to help revolutionize the economics/politics of the fiefdom. However, I know this was necessary because it helps make Iris look like a genius and propel her to success. I'm just not too fond of economic talk and jargon

That said, I will continue with this series as I know the politics of the world will begin to overshadow the economic aspect. Overall, I gave this volume 3.9.

**apr 2024**

read until: chapter 65 (uncompleted)

iris used to believe that as acting leader, she can’t show her vulnerability to her people, especially the ones working closely with her. but when she doesn’t waver during difficult times, her closest allies are worried about her, concerned that she’s carrying too much on her shoulders. iris is, in fact, shouldering a huge responsibility as leader of her domain; many people’s lives are at stake when she comes up with policies, improvements, and changes. slowly though, it seems like iris is allowing others see another side of her that’s more uncertain and scared.

another thing is, i liked the pacing of the story. even from the start, months and years passed by within chapters as iris is slowly building up her corporation and speeding past all the preparation work was great. however, this doesn’t mean that there’s any compromise on the relationship building which i think is highly important for this manga since iris needs the trust and honesty between her and her people/allies to work in the reader’s mind. i didn’t feel like anything was rushed unnecessarily at all.

Accomplishments of the Duke’s Daughter is about a girl who was reborn into a video game. This is the second volume so I can’t get into what it’s about.

ᴍʏ ᴛʜᴏᴜɢʜᴛs

This is a very “business” related story. It’s not my typical genre or anything I’d typically be interested in. But because it’s in manga form, it’s easier to consume. It’s not badly written, but I couldn’t find myself getting truly immersed. I feel like the first 75% of it wasn’t following any sort of overall arc, but the something happened in the last bit that got me interested in the story more. I’ll continue the series because I own them.

You’re looking for a story that is business and economy based. It’s not a non-fiction by any means, but the MC is building the economy in her village.

Not a single thing felt out of place in this volume, every single bit was to build upon an idea or something else. This manga blends all of the information it packs in so eloquently in such an entertaining way. I become entirely invested in all of Iris’ ventures that I have to keep reading for more, especially being that I like Iris as a character so much as well and I enjoy seeing how she handles things.
In this volume, we see numerous new characters as well, and it seems something is going on at the Royal Capitol, perhaps something beyond what Iris’ visitors are letting on. Things feel a bit ominous but thus far, this manga has been like that of a rose. Beautiful and fragrant, with thorns that hurt enough to let you know that there is no beauty to be found without pain.
Iris has sold me. I’m going to stay invested in her ventures and the Azuta Corporation for a long time.

A good 4.25/5 stars.
This volume actually piqued my interest more than the first. We see a lot of involvement and more financial terms tossed around (which goes right over my head but still intriguing) and more character development. I wished there would have been a little more time to delve into some of the smaller issues that came up in this book only because it felt like it was introduced and then quickly solved/thrown aside for something else. But other than that, I'm in it for the long-haul.
Definitely recommend for those who could/would benefit from learning about finances (even if it's just a small mention), those who like more logistics with their manga, or those curious about this compared to My Next Life as a Villainess.

It's not often one finds a clear, fun chart in a manga explaining demand pull inflation and the role that central banks play in stabilizing monetary inflation via lending interest rates, but it's here! AND ....It's done well too!
The story is addictive and the chapter where our heroine travels incognito within the city, rescuing the orphans was- awesome. King Abdullah of Jordan apparently once did the same thing twenty seven years ago and according to the author's interview this chapter was based upon that incident. So that's pretty cool.
I'm looking forward to the anime.... and the next volume. I've already preordered it.

We see Berne's rather spectacular temper tantrum in this version, as well as his shock as he realizes he doesn't recognize his own sister, both physically or in how she manages both their lands and her business. The side story at the end of this book wouldn't make much sense if not for also reading the light novels as it brings in Mimosa, who has not yet entered the scene in the manga and isn't part of the storyline until after Iris returns to high society in the capital, which has not yet happened in this version of the story. Having read the light novels first though, her character is at least familiar, even if the timing for the side story and the context seems a bit out of place.

I'm grateful to my friend for suggesting this series to me.
• It has a period feel to it but at the same time it has a modern feel as well.
• This particular volume was very dense with information both business and characters so it can be a slog however, it is still enjoyable.
• This is perfect for if you want to read about a Victorian/Jane Austen type world without having to read a thick novel.
Overall, it's very enjoyable but this particular volume was dense. Because of these points, I'm giving this a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

I'm enjoying this a lot and I'm not sure how a manga about tax reform could win me so hard. The art's gorgeous and creative. The author takes care to explain a lot of the issues/important changes our protagonist is changing. In all, this story is like watching someone else play Sim City, only you do get sucked in wanting to see how things turn out.

There's limited conflict, but that's not detracting from the story. This manga is a paradox and I'm loving it.

Great addition to the first!

She’s doing super well. She’s great at bringing changes into her fiefdom and maintaining them. I find it interesting how she incorporates modern conveniences into her medieval/fantasy life. Very resourceful.

Wish it wasn’t targeted as “woke up in an otome game” and rather as a high fantasy iseki.

It was decent. I’m not sure I’ll continue it though. It had a little too much politics/business talk for me.

This manga is a fun level headed approach to what would happen if a really educated person was reincarnated into a game they played! It's a pleasant difference from the typical nerdy boy living out his hormonal fantasy. 🤷🏾‍♀️

Life goes on with many of the reforms slowly being implemented. Like part 1 it is mostly about the people, but by the end we do get a bit of the politics and hence plot. Her influence is growing and it is drawing attention of her family. Looking forward to part three.
