Have you ever wondered where Father Christmas came from? And how he ended up with a factory at the North Pole full of elves to help him make toys? A beautifully illustrated and timeless story about how a toymaker and his wife became Mother and Father Christmas for children all over the world.
2.5 stars. I really wanted to like this book, I love vintage illustrations and old fashioned folk tales and fairy tales but I just found this book too long and trying to hard to be something it wasn't in my opinion. The first few pages are nice, you can see where it's going and then I lost interest.
This beautifully bound foil-enhanced hardback picture book (I have the hb version) would make a sublime gift for Christmas or for fans of the traditional idea of Christmas. Exquisite illustrations that allow the colour of Christmas toys to pop and bounce against a gentle serene background set the scene for this thoughtful retelling of the origins of Father and Mother Christmas. It will cultivate return visits, year after year for it aims to preserve the notion that belief fosters hope which in turn, nourishes magic and when magic is about, anything is possible.
This book is so beautiful 😍😍 a large hardcover with the most gorgeous foil-stamped design I've ever seen🙌 published by @bloomsburypublishing ....every page is illustrated, so perfect for little kids 💕
