An Important Resource for Authors and Publishers

Thousands of new books are entering the marketplace every day (no exaggeration). Every author needs honest book reviews for their book because readers are reading these reviews and making buying decisions. From my experience, just getting reviews can be challenging.

David Wogahn has simplified the process with THE BOOK REVIEWER YELLOW PAGES 9TH EDITION. This resource includes two hundred book blogger profiles, forty book blog tour organizers, thirty-two review businesses, and additional articles and insights such as “Understanding Amazon’s Terms of Service (which can save wasted efforts and clear up misconceptions).

The introduction says “all reviewers in this edition’s book blogger section are currently accepting self- and indie-published books.” The same section gives realistic guidelines such as “never, ever send a book unless they ask for it.” (Page 7)

Wogahn has created an easy to use and valuable guidebook. I recommend every author and publisher get a copy of THE BOOK REVIEWER YELLOW PAGES.

Not much to say about the book - it is a good, decent re/source for book bloggers and reviewers. It is evident that a lot of time and energy went in to creating a book that one can use to refer to when/as needed.

Almost all authors are indie authors. Whether you're an author who has been published by one of the Big Five publishers or whether you've self-published, you're going to do 90%+ of your book's marketing.
Only A-list celebrities can avoid doing the heavy lifting.

That's why 99% of authors need #TheBookReviewerYellowPages.
For $5 (on Amazon), you get an invaluable resource of where to find book bloggers who review books.
It also gives you tips on how to reach them.
It also lists various companies that offer online book tours.

If you're an author, don't debate this purchase.
It's a no-brainer.
Even if you get ONE lead who publishes ONE review, the book will pay for itself.

Lastly, if you're thinking about writing a bestseller, read this first.
You'll realize that writing the book is the easy part.
Marketing it is tough.
This book makes it a little bit easier.

Being a book reviewer myself, I was excited to see some of my favorite tour host companies included and many of my favorite bloggers. This sort of book has one major drawback that things change in the blogging world quickly and the need to keep a directory updated is so important.
I was ready to give this book a slightly lower rating but then I continued to read the additional information and articles. There is some valuable information in here.
It was a good use of my time and made finding resources very convenient.

The Book Reviewer Yellow Pages is a valuable and practical tool for authors on the quest to finding reviewers and blog tours relevant to their books. I found it accessible, well-organized, and comprehensive. Easy to use and designed with the author in mind, this guide will save you time and ultimately connect you with the right people to help you gain exposure for your book.

This directory was published in 2020. An unfortunate year for a book that is basically a print of a database. Any directory is out of date the moment it is published, but the number of blogs and reviewers that stopped being active in 2020 is astronomical.
I went through the entire set of directories. Whenever there was a blog or reviewer who according to the directory might be willing to consider my novel I would visit the website or online home of the listing. 3 out of 4 of those I checked has not updated since sometime in 2020 or they simply did not exist. Because things do change, if a site no longer existed I went the extra step of googling the reviewer by name and the listed blog name as well. Not once did I have a positive outcome. This 3 out of 4 no longer in business held true for not just the blogs but for all of the different directories within the book.
While this edition is woefully out of date, I did manage to find 36 blog/reviewers to which i reached out. It was worth my time to go through the list in this manner rather than the more haphazard google a million times alternative.
It would be awesome if the creator of the directory would produce a 2025 version with updated information and the inclusion of BookTok and other social media that did not exist in 2020.
The Yellow Pages is a great idea and, in fact, was helpful to me. This sort of thing needs a regular new addition. I hope someone will take on the production of a new version soon.

The Book Reviewer Yellow Pages
What I love this year is how the categories are broken up.
Starts with all the aspects an author will need and how to approach bloggers to read and review their books and what to pay attention to.
As a book blogger I don't want a very long detailed email about your book-let me judge if I want to read and review the book-don't send it along with the intro email.
Has FAQ section and how to read the key codes on the blogger notes.
Everything is pretty straight forward and I like the different formats available in darker style. Also a section for how the author should handle the negative reviews and keep track of who's reviewed the book or is it time to send them a reminder.
Don't care for the section where others can solicit to get paid but it's out there for anybody to use and sections for blog tours and what they are all about.
Like how everything is indexed at the end. Hope to get a copy next year.
Received this review copy and this is my honest opinion.

Some really good advice and a good starting directory of book reviewers and bloggers, but many/most of them are clearly amateurs with little to show in the way of results for their clients. I was surprised at this, given the high level of polish and evidence-based arguments in David Wogahn's other books.

Tons of Info

So much time has been spent gathering data, so you won’t have to. It’s worth it’s weight in gold if you use it. It does require a bit of effort but David has done the heavy lifting.

But some links are already outdated.

Liked that it was organized like a directory to save us time. This helped me roadmap my book idea better.

Reference book

This book is good for those working in the book field whether as a publicist, publisher or author. It gives you all the information you need to promote reviews. Who knew there were so many places to put a review? I like that author has researched each company and gives you the cost, necessary information, whether online and where to send. This is a reference book you will use for a long time.
