Right from the beginning, you know exactly what is going on and who the killer is. It completely bypasses the standard mystery tropes to deliver a pure, high-tension cat-and-mouse thriller. The narrative splits between a gritty first-person perspective with Nash Harrington and a chilling third-person look at a deeply unhinged villain driven by pure rage. Because the cards are on the table early, the suspense is all about the ticking clock—watching Nash try to piece together the clues before the killer strikes too close to home.
The police procedural elements feel authentic, the dialogue is sharp, and the villain is genuinely menacing. Trading the classic "whodunit" mystery for a fast-paced, psychological chase worked incredibly well for me. It’s a dark, gripping read, and I’ll definitely be picking up the next book in the series!
