He puts the "screw" in screwball comedy...

BRYNN
At thirty-four, I’m reeling from a divorce. I don’t want to party or try to move on. I just want to stay home and post a new recipe on my blog: Brynn’s Dips and Balls.

But my friends aren’t having it. Get out there again, they say. It will be fun, they say. I’m still taking a hard pass.

Free designer cocktails, they say. And that’s a game-changer.

Too bad my ex shows up with his new arm candy. That’s when I lose my mind. But when my besties dare me to leap on the first single man I see, they don't expect me to actually go through with it.

TOM
All I need right now is some peace and quiet while my home renovation TV show is on hiatus. But when a curvy woman in a red wrap dress charges me like she’s a gymnast about to mount my high bar, all I can do is brace myself and catch her. What follows is the hottest experience of my adult life.

I want a repeat, but my flying Cinderella disappears immediately afterward. She doesn’t leave a glass slipper, either—just a pair of panties with chocolate bunnies printed on them.

But I will find her.

OMG. This book was one of the funniest books I’ve read in a while. I was in the mood to laugh when I started reading it, so it was perfect timing for me! Sarina Bowen is an author who never disappoints, and I’ve never read Tanya Eby, but together they did a great job with Man Hands. To be quite honest, I didn’t love the title or cover, but I still picked it up because HELLO- SARINA BOWEN! And I’m so glad I did! If you love funny books, don’t let the cover deter you.

Brynn is in her 30’s and recently divorced. Her friends decide she needs to go out and get some. The best way to get over someone is to get under someone else, right? But it has to be someone different from her normal type. Brynn doesn’t have the best picker, as you can tell by her ex.
“You need to do the nasty with someone who isn't your type. If your body is responding with all those whozits and whatsits, then you need to run away because your instinct is just plain wrong."

When Brynn first lays eyes on Tom, she knows he is far from her type. He’s a big burly manly man. So naturally, she attacks him. It works out in her favor because she has the best sex of her life with Tom. Then things get a little out of hand between the two…

This book made me laugh out loud so many times! It’s been a while since I’ve read a book that had me cracking up like this. I loved Brynn and Tom, but seriously TOM! Tom was so great! I adored him! This book is so much fun. It’s one of those laugh out loud rom-coms and I recommend it to all who love funny books. I can’t wait to read more from this duo!

Well I wanted fun and boy did I get it!!

I started laughing on the first page and didn't stop, some of it was little giggles but most of the time I was bent over, drink coming out of nose snort laughing (not literally) well maybe the snorting hehe.

 photo spitdrinklaugh_zpss1u7ow5m.gif

Brynn is newly divorced, to be fair it was her seeking the divorce. Brynn's ex was not attentive to her needs in any way and when he tried to fulfill her bedroom needs lets just say he only gave her a limp salute. So now Brynn needs someone who'll give her the attention and love she deserves. Brynn is a college professor but her real passion is in Dips and Balls, she has a food blog but that doesn't pay the bills.

Tom is a 38yr old 'handyman' who has his own TV show 'Mr. Fixit Quick', he is adored by women everywhere but yet has had nothing but bad luck in love. Until a voluptuous woman (Brynn) throws herself at him at a party. I fell for Tom quickly, I mean big built handyman/tradie added with how nice he was and we have a winner folks.

So after Tom and Brynn have an 'adventure' in his boathouse they find out it was filmed and has been sold and watched over the internet. To save Tom's career and Brynn's reputation they set up a fake engagement, cause who wants to watch an engaged couple get it on? At least she has a good sex face hehe.

 photo sexface_zpsdj9oszry.jpg

This is the fun and hilarious story of Brynn finding a real man, true love and maybe finding herself along the way.

What made this such a great read and so funny was the characters Tom, Braht, Brynn, Sadie and Ash were awesome and I just wanted to go hang with them for a while. The only thing that upset me was that it ended, I wanted way more Tom and Brynn hopefully we will get more as the series continues.

This is a must read for lovers of Rom-Com's.

I want this woman with every ounce of my being. Since I’m six-three and two hundred fifteen pounds, that’s a lot of ounces.

Dear author duo, I have only one thing to say to you about any and all of your future releases together.

Oh yeah. It's like that. We're totes besties now.

Side note: I just threw up in my mouth a little from actually typing the words totes and besties.

But I digress as always. So where was I? Ah yes. Deez nuts. I mean, deez book. I mean this book. For goodness sake. I spend one evening with this book and my inner sassy will not be contained.
Let’s simplify it—we’re looking for a man instead of what you’ve been attracted to.”
“What have I been attracted to?”
“Gwyneth Paltrow, I’m pretty sure. And every time I see her on TV, I just want to kick her.”

Aside from the laugh out loud story, the ridiculously endearing main characters, what completely hooked me on Man Hands was the friendship between Brynn and her girlfriends. It was like watching a comedic version of Sex and the City. And I'm not just saying that because I believe that her best friend Ash is my spirit animal. I couldn't get enough of these three completely different personalities together and their obviously tight bond and love for each other.

Brynn was easily one of my favorite female characters I've read this year. Coming off of a recent divorce of an entirely lackluster marriage, Brynn isn't looking for Mr. Right. But when her friends tell her to move on with her life by getting under some hot stranger, she doesn't take the advice lightly. She jumps right on it. Literally.
I wind her hair around my hand and quietly convert carpentry fractions into decimals. Three eighths is .375. Five eighths is…
She gives a good, hard suck.
“POINT SIX TWO FIVE!” I bellow.
Her mouth makes a popping sound as she releases me. “Come again?”
“I’m trying not to,” I gasp.

But what was supposed to be one night of pleasure, turns into something much more. Her random stranger can't stop thinking about her and won't rest until he tracks her down and makes her give them a chance.

Did I mention yet how much I freaking LOVED Tom? Because OMG! I freaking LOVED Tom. Here's an alpha male that doesn't take himself too seriously and I loved him all the more for it. He's funny, endearing, sexy as all get out, and impossible not to like. SERIOUSLY.
How do you think we should celebrate?”
“Chocolate and sex,” I whisper.
“Mmm,” he groans into my ear. “I’ll bring truffles and my dick.”

Man Hands was easily one of the funniest, entertaining, and quirky romances I've read all year. I had a goofy grin on my face from beginning to finish. Between the shenanigans of the main characters and the shenanigans of the secondary characters, I was in stitches reading it.

There's no crazy drama. There's no huge misunderstanding. There's no angst. Just a light-hearted, romantic, and sexy romp that's full of laughs and memorable one-liners. It unrolled like the perfect romcom movie in my head as I read it, and I simply can't recommend it enough if you need something cheerful, uplifting, sweet and romantic. This girl loved every page of it.

Review @ Vanilla & Spice Books

Well slap my ass and call me Sally. This is one of those books that you don't see coming. I should have. It has the name Sarina Bowen on it and she's always good for a surprise.

Brynn is a quirky, sweet heroine who just came out on the other side of a divorce, that wasn't amicable and stripped her of her self esteem. When she jumps Tom, literally, he isn't her usual type, he is so much more and the man she didn't anticipate. I loved Brynn, humor aside, she was as real as it gets. Her insecurities were relatable. And oh my God, her inner monologues. A riot.

The people around me are a mélange of hipsters and yuppies. Since I’m running, they blur together, becoming yupsters.

Tom was such a manly man, hot, sexy, sweet but what I loved most about him was his own insecurity about Brynn. He didn't take her for granted. The conversations with his dick were uproariously funny.

Several more of my hard-earned brain cells go up in smoke as I watch her breasts tumble free. Holy bazongas, Batman.

Tanya Eby is a new-to-me author but her and Sarina's styles blend together and you can't even guess at who was writing which chapter, it was perfectly harmonious.

Man Hands is a laugh-out-loud, entirely entertaining and gratifying little gem. One of the funniest books I've read, not just this year. It's lighthearted, sweet, sexy and hilarious as all get out. I was giggling over my Kindle most of the book. I could literally find something to laugh on every page and my face hurt from smiling. Can you guess that I loved this book? Yeah, I definitely did. If you're in the mood for a total feel-good story with spice and lovable characters, do yourself a favor and pick this up. It's worth every penny.

Man Hands is the first co-written book by Sarina Bowen and Tanya Eby but I hope there will be many more to come. These two perfectly combined their writing styles to where I couldn't tell where one author stopped and the other began. They created these characters that had me rooting them on and hoping they would find their way to a HEA and for that I count myself a fan.

This book started off with me laughing and smiling like a loon, and I never lost that smile while i continued to read. I loved that Brynn and Tom were very light-hearted characters and that they stayed that way throughout their romance. It grabbed my attention from the beginning and these characters are ones that I will be raving about to all my friends.

When I learned that both Brynn and Tom had exes that were still on their mind I got a little nervous. I don't really like when there are exes brought up too much so I went on with my reading a little cautiously. It ended up not being an issue and didn't hinder me from enjoying this story. Near the end though there was a drama with each ex that I really could have done without and Brynn's just seemed out of left field so I didn't understand why it was it happened and then it didn't feel resolved to me.

Overall, even with the ex situation I never lost interest in this story and I really enjoyed the reading experience. Any book that can get me laughing and not even caring that I look a little insane is a winner to me.

SAY WHAT??? IT'S FREE!!!
4.5 Two Hurts Make It Oh, So Right Stars
* * * * 1/2 Spoiler Free
Oh, this Book... I have to say at first I wasn't quite sure if this was truly happening... But as I read a couple of more pages, It Was a Full On Delight! Sarina Bowen and Tanya Eby joined forces and we are the Lucky Ones...

Well, actually our characters are the ones who really benefit. They have the most wonderful moments of discovery about each other and themselves.

We first meet Brynn and her posse. Brynn is recovering from a recent divorce and is stuck per her loving friends. They are concerned because all she has been doing since she realized her marriage was not what it should be...is cooking, blogging, and kind of just hanging out in the new house she is renting.

Brynn had been married for a while to a man who showed no physical interest in her...He made excuses to not have sex...and just settled into having Brynn supply amazing food for him to consume. It was this treatment that caused Brynn to doubt herself. Here she was an accomplished English professor and capable of so much... and every day she was losing who she was...

Brynn decides enough is enough and tells her ex the divorce is happening...and he hardly acknowledges it. His father, however, lays Brynn off from her position at the University...So now Brynn is unemployed, sending out resumes or plans to... and only feels competent when baking, cooking, and blogging.

This is when her fantastic friends step in... Announcing Brynn needs to get LAID... and they have the perfect way to make it happen. The real estate agent who is in competition with Brynn's friend is having a party. It will have the necessary booze, hot guys, moneyed, and able to give the thorough shagging Brynn needs. She hesitates but ends up going.

We get a taste right off the bat of the relationship the dueling real estate agents have- Now this is a running thing and they should end up with their own book The women get drinks, settle in, and Bam... there in a corner is Brynn's ex... with a woman who is many years younger than Brynn... thinner and OMG, the Ex's hand is caressing her ass....Mr. I'm Not Interested in Sex is doing a PDA!!!!

Well, that is all Brynn needs to realize she can't breathe...To the rescue, she is instructed to collect herself and go and kiss the first Manly Man she sees...

A switch was turned on...Brynn zeros in on the most Manly Man she sees... Tom, out there in the garden, turns towards her after just working on some planting...She takes off as if on fire and before both of them can connect the dots... Brynn has thrown herself into this man's arms... He catches her, his manly hands cupping her ass and Brynn lays a kiss on him for all she is worth...

Tom reacts instinctively. Here this womanly woman... not the stick figure his ex-girlfriend was... this vision coming at him has curves, breasts that move naturally, rising and falling with each step...
Oh, his body is reacting and wanting this to be a real experience... because it has been a long while since Tom has had a woman's body close...

Tom has been trying to heal himself. He went through a very difficult breakup. He was crushed and it has been hard to live it down. His personal posse of one, the real estate broker, made Tom have this party at Tom's home... so he was ripe for this Real Woman crashing into him...And when her mouth lashes onto his... he was taken aback...and then both of them lost their minds...

Yup... Tom holding Brynn, Brynn wrapping her legs and arms around this guy... sucking face as if her life depended on it... Each one is full of drinks yet still with working minds... with one thing needing to happen...

She needs to get as close to him as she can... He wants her under him and Nothing is going to stop these two...And Nothing Does...

These two experience life-changing sex... Yes, there is such a thing and they are having it...

What happens next and throughout the rest of the book defies my ability to present it properly...
Everything rings just right...all the humor... all of the amazing desire these two have for each other... all of the goofy wonderful talking about food and sex works. There are layers of pathos, too... but not too much -just the right amount.

There are POVs for our two and then there is also the constant conversation Tom's Dick has with him... Yup, no kidding...It So Works.

As you can tell, I am smitten with this book and the partnership of these extremely talented authors. They have figured out how to do this Rom/Com thing and another book will be coming in January. Man Card...Yes, I am hoping it is the fighting Real Estate brokers.

***IT'S ALIVE!!!***

Shook me all morning long…

Have you ever tried to laugh silently and it all goes horribly wrong? Well, this book had me trying very hard to suppress my laughter. I made the mistake of trying to sneakily read Man Hands before starting another crazy day in the Sassy household. The house is quiet (except for the light snores from hubby), I haven’t turned on my work or Mum brain and my computer and phone haven’t been activated. 5:00 in the morning is a great time to read.

Getting back to silent laughter… So, I start Man Hands and I realise my mistake pretty damn quickly. It’s FUNNY!! I mean, really funny. My whole body shook, trying to suppress my laughter made me snort and I accidentally doinked myself on the head with my kindle. Of course, all of this commotion wakes hubby. The poor bloke, this isn’t his first unfortunate wake up, but he’s resigned to the life.

My hubby is...Married to a R.O.B.A. (Romance Obsessed Book Addict).

I don’t think he expected it to be easy but I don’t think he expected…early wake-ups, tears and tantrums, snuggles and cuddles, snogging and pashing. Well, thems the breaks, you take the good with the bad.

Anyways, I really enjoyed Man Hands. While there is definite humour, the story also deals with finding yourself after heartbreak.

It’s amazing how quickly you realize what love really is when you find the right person after you’ve left the wrong person. Both Tom and Brynn are recovering from messy breakups. Tom has to regain his dignity after his ex, publicly rejects him. Brynn is looking for a new job after her ex’s dad gives her a pink slip. The best way to get past their breakups…let his man hands caress her lady bits. Then, have the world see it too…

Now, I have to admit, the humour does get a wee bit OTT in the middle, but to be honest, that could have a bit to do with my mood. If I’d had a few solid hours to read without interruption, I probably would have stayed on the giddy high from the start. Unfortunately, reading with breaks in between and trying to read at the end of a stressful day, it felt a little too much. She’s a wee too obsessed with food and he’s a wee too obsessed with listening to his saluting staff (read between the lines…we’re not talking about his workers, wink, wink).

I started on a high and ended on a high. It’s funny, sweet and a little corny. If you happen to love home renovations or you’re a foodie, this story would be great for you. Plenty of sexy times that definitely shows their lust for each other. Sure, we hit the “L” word pretty quickly, but we’re not expected to immediately believe their HEA. We get to see a little of their future and what their HEA will look like, and that’s exactly how I like my romance to finish.

I enjoyed Man Hands and I will definitely be back for more laughs with Man Card.

I just created a new Bookshelf/Tag - Is that a hammer in your pocket? I crack myself up...regularly. 😂😀😁😆

Looking for a book that will give you love, some sass, a lot of laughs, foodgasims, some definite sexy scenes, but most of all, do you want a book that will make you smile, then this is it. Man Hands is sweet, it’s so fun, and it’s low on angst. These authors are dynamite for a romcom duo.

Tom is a single, sought after 38 year old bachelor that is a hot corn dog on a stick, in others words, he’s hot. He knows he wants happiness, he just can’t seem to get it right and definitely hasn’t found it with the right woman, yet. He’s a ‘celebrity’ in reality TV, hosting his own fix it up show. And he’s good at it, and a lot of other things 😉

Brynn.. How the heck do you explain this woman? She is a lonely, depressed, beautiful woman that has just started a new life as a recent divorcee. She’s ready to find some fun, someone that will cherish who she really is, someone that will love everything about her, especially her passion at all her beloved hobbies. She is just simply an all around amazing person.

When these two characters are thrown into a unique situation, forced into a “fake” relationship, which I never saw it as being - fake, they do it with humor, with passion, and with heart (unknowingly). I laughed a lot throughout this book, I loved a lot of it, I really enjoyed it, gave me a little different read that I needed, yet I still had some eye roll moments. It lacked in the angst department for me, but it wasn’t in a bad way. I still loved it and I CAN NOT wait to get more to this crazy hilarious group!!!! I’ll be patiently waiting to get the next installment on Ash.

Review at Of Pens and Pages.

Man Hands is a hilarious, hot, over the top romantic comedy about a girl who loves balls and a guy who’s not afraid to get his hands dirty. It's HGTV + all the cooking shows in the world, and I'm obsessed. The story has two great characters, food, tools, and lots of sexy times.

Brynn was such an enjoyable character to get to know. I especially love seeing her writing on her food blog. She's funny, passionate about food, and can sometimes get insecure about herself. Getting out of a marriage can do that to a person, especially when a marriage that already lacked passion dissolves into nothing but dust. It doesn't help that she loses her job after it, too, since her old boss was her ex-husband's father.

Her friends want to bring back the skip in her step, and they think the only way it'll come back is if she gets laid by someone who is nothing like her type. This is where our hero jumps in. Or rather, Brynn jumps on him. And I mean that literally. At a party, things happen that lead to her jumping the first stranger that makes eye contact with her, she's just lucky enough it's someone as hot and manly—definitely not her usual type—as Tom.

Tom, the host of the hit TV show 'Mr. Fixit Quick', hasn't had the best of luck in the love department, either. Coming out of a failed proposal and and an end of relationship, he didn't know he'd jump into a new relationship, but sometimes it jumps out to you out of nowhere...a.k.a. Brynn.

I loved reading about him, too. Aside from the whole handyman thing, which is hot btw, he's caring, thoughtful, and so darn adorable.

Brynn and Tom's courtship, if you could even call it that, is not a walk in the park. And it's definitely not conventional. They start whatever they have totally out of order, and you can expect everything else to arrive in the different—or maybe perfect—order, too. And that makes it perfect.

They have some pretty funny banter and interactions, and basically they're an adorable bunch. I love how they get along and get each other's quirks, and I love how they support each other so much.

It took me a while to write a review for this book because I wanted to share the story and my love for it without giving too much, but all I can say is if you're looking for a romantic comedy, you're looking at it.

I've only read a few of Sarina Bowen's books but loved all of them, so I was excited to get my hands on this one. Of Tanya Eby, I've listened and loved the audiobooks she's narrated. Their combination made the tone of this story completely different from Sarina's works. It's an interesting combo, these two authors, but it works, it's fun, and it's hilarious. In the words of the great mighty Thor, "I like it. ANOTHER!"

I can't wait for Braht and Ash, Tom and Brynn's best friends, to star in their own book!

Fans of Poppy Dune and Helena Hunting will love this new book full of antics that will make you howl with laughter, hungry for some delicious dips and balls, and fan yourself with all that sexual tension.

Tropes: One Night Stand, Fake Engagement
POV: First Person, Dual POV

Man Hands is about divorcee Brynn, when she divorces from her husband she’s left with a very low self-esteem. Her friends take her to a party and convince her to kiss the first man she sees, and she does exactly that. And she ends up doing more than that with him, then running off when it’s done.

But the hookup returns, and she learns his name is Tom. And Tom has an unusual proposition for her.

Let me start off by saying this book is VERY funny. Sarina and Tanya hit the humor spot really well. And this book was FILLED with sexy times. But I felt the romance wasn’t developed very well and wish we had more of that than sex scenes.

Plus when I thought home renovation tv personality I thought of Chip Gaines from Fixer Upper and sorry not sorry, I don’t find him attractive.

A quick light and fun read
2,5 stars

This is a light and fun book with 200 pages. Even the hot scenes are full of fun.

The characters are sweet and likable. Just don't expect much character development as this book is aimed at being a short quick read.

Safe

It is totally safe with no cheating. There is no one else in their lives after they first meet - so no unnecessary drama from the exes, no cheating or anything close to it :)

Plot:

Our two characters that have been unhappy and disappointed with their exes meet at a party and they explode!

Then things go crazy very quickly:

Accidental porn tape of their one-night stand, fake-engagement as a solution and things turning into real in the process...

Writing:

It is written in dual point of view. Both Tom and Brynn tell their story in a funny way. Sometimes it is hilarious and I laughed out loud. However, sometimes it is unnecessarily funny - especially the hot scenes - and I must say that neither Tom's constant conversation with his d*ck nor the very short chapter written by IT appealed to me.

This book is a proof of the fact that fun can also be "too much" sometimes!

Some really tragic things happen in the book like the accidental porn tape that goes viral on the internet and even this issue is handled in a light and fun way - weird much ?!

Cliché:

By the way, isn't this fake-girlfriend / fake-fiancé thing too old now? Overused? I mean, I remember having read more than a dozen stories like this. It was more fun when I read it the first time or the second but I am kind of sick of it now... Just saying...

Recommendation:

If you ask me, this is a book that can be used as a fun pastime for a few hours after a gloomy, depressing and a dark book but it sure is one that you will forget in a few days.

Perfect book for all the girls that love home improvement shows and have erotic fantasies about the sexy handyman on tv...

One look at him and I know he eats meat. He may be the fucking gardener, but he’s got arms like a linebacker. He’s wearing a baseball cap over a perfectly weathered face.
He’s pushing forty, maybe, and he looks like he’s lived outside under the sun, or has at least visited the outdoors once in a while.
And he just looks…like a man. All six feet whatever inches of him. Our eyes lock and I fucking launch myself at him, like a rocket! I mean, with my weight and the sheer propulsion of my body, a tackle from me should send him flying edge of the terraced gardener and straight into the lake. But the dude catches me. He. Catches. Me. And he squeezes my ass!
Although, to be fair, the ass squeeze might be the only thing keeping me from hurtling over the balcony.

Hahahahahahaha

This collaboration ROCKED!!!!

From the very first sentence I was hooked. I made the mistake of reading on the train and had to really control myself not to laugh out loud. My face was already cracking, and hurting from all the smiling. So yeah, this book is a LOL - kind of novel. A rom-com that will make you crack a smile for sure.

Which I needed badly.

Man Hands was much more than I expected.

I like and enjoy Sarina Bowen's books. Always have always will. But Tanya Eby was new to me. I'm always astonished how collaborations can change how authors sound. How every author duo sound very different to their individual books.

I have now read Sarina Bowen by herself, Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy, and Sarina Bowen & Sarah Mayberry. This collaboration has to be the second best, right after my favorite series HIM & US. Whereas HIM & US was very emotional, Man Hands was incredibly funny, light hearted and just a blast to read.

Man Hands had me cracking up!!!

I absolutely adored the writing style, dialogues, and inner monologues. Gosh, how much I chuckled reading this sweet and fast paced novel about a blogger and a hunk of a TV show host. And what a unique and entertaining plot it was.

I don't want to give away too much.

All I want to say is that Man Hands was FUNNY! Hilarious. Sweet. AND. Sexy!!!! I pretty much read that book as fast as I could. I even texted TJ about how much I loved it and how happy I was reading a book that pulled me in and made me laugh from the very first moment. The supporting cast was SUPERB!!!! So amazing that I can't wait for Ash and Braht's story. OMG - Braht ♡♡♡. He was such a conundrum. I wanted more of him.

Fortunately I'll get more of Braht in  Man Card, book 2 of this series. At this point I'm pretty much in love with him - you'll see what I mean. His story is going to be GOOD!!! Such a unique character. So not regular hero material which makes it PERFECT!!!

All in all Man Hands was a great first book in a promising new collaboration. It wasn't perfect - but it was a solid performance that made me smile and not wanting to put my kindle down. AND I can't wait to read book 2 - so mission accomplished. :D

4.5 Pee in your Pants Funny

If I had to pick one book to read to put a smile on my face Man Hands would no doubt be it. It was witty, funny, entertaining and all around FUN to read.

Sarina Bowen is a one-click author for me and this is my first Tanya Eby book. Let me just say they are geniuses working together.

So what is Man Hands?

Throw in a quirky slightly curvy girl, a handy-man and second chances to living life one fix it project and one baking dish at at time. Yeah that didn’t make sense, but it did in my head.

Man Hands was just FUNNY!

Brynn is a single and recently divorced gal. Think Bridget Jones’ Diary. She’s kind of curvy and she’s in a rut and what does she do? She goes to a party and throws herself at the first guy she sees. Like she runs into him and jumps into his arms like a Koala bear and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Oh man, my love for Brynn is off the charts high. She’s so hilarious and I love her inner monologues and if you know anything about me, I hate reading inner monologues. I love reading her and I wanted her to get her second chance again.

Tom is the perfect man for Brynn. He’s honest, goes with the flow and can fix anything! Do I need to mention I’m totally into men who can wear a tool belt?

The best part of the book is the chemistry between Brynn and Tom. It’s really develops in the book and you just can’t stop reading it. I read this book in one sitting and the only breaks I took was to change my pants because I laughed so hard I peed in them!

If you are in a funk this book will brighten your mood and put a mega smile on your face.

What can I say????

Sarina Bowen had been on my radar for quite some time due to errrrrrybody reading Him awhile back. Unfortunately, the pornbrary has not yet obtained a copy of that one, to which I say . . . . .

I took a few days off last week and vowed that I would read a bunch of smutty deliciousness while at home. I ended up reading this during the Madness of March while my husband watched alllllllll of the hoopies and was quite surprised that he even noticed me being in the room with him since he was not only enraptured by the various games but also because apparently JESUS is in attendance this year (#goramblers). However, notice he did and he even asked what something called “Man Hands” was about to which I responded . . . .

The story here is about Brynn. Recently divorced after catching her husband and bestie ridin' that pony, Brynn is ready to wallow in a bit of misery. However, her friends aren’t having it and force encourage her to attend a party and find some hot rebound sex. Brynn thinks that sounds simply turrrrrible . . . until ex-hubs and ex-bestie show up at the same party. It’s at that moment Brynn goes flying across the room into the arms of the hot . . . gardner (????) Tom and plants a serious liplock on him. And then?????

“It’s better than bacon.”

Well, that is until Brynn discovers not only is her one-night-stand . . . or rather one-moment-in-the-boathouse . . . . famous, but also that she has just reached celebrity status as well in sort of a Kim Kardashian fashion . . . .

I’ll let the fact that I already have put a hold on TWO ADDITIONAL Sarina Bowen books speak for the fact that I liked her style juuuuuuuuuuust fine. My only gripes are fairly minor:

1. This was the third “fake engagement” story I had read in a row. Tired trope is getting tired for me.

2. Brynn apparently only wore wrap dresses as there were EIGHTEEN different references to her wearing one. I appreciate having “bigger” female leads in romances sometimes, but having the “fat” girl wearing nothing but a wrap dress was even more tired than the fake romance . . . .

I guess I should be thankful she wasn’t in all empire waists . . . or burkas.

3. Fugly cover is fugly.

4. Anthropomorphic penises . . . .

4 “Dips and balls” Stars.

Brynn recently got divorced and free from an unhappy marriage, she wants to move on and her friends believe that the best way to do it is to put herself out there and best way to start is just have a one night stand with a stranger. And during a party that exactly what she does… except that the “stranger” not only knows people in common with her… he’s also kind of famous. And when their “fling” goes public in a way that none of them dreamed of, Tom believes that the best way to deal with it, it’s just faking they’re in a relationship. The problem when their fake relationship starts to look way to real and the finish line doesn’t look appealing anymore…

description

This was a hilarious romance. With a sweet and funny heroine who can’t stop thinking about food (I feel you, sister!), a sweet and sexy hero who just wants to build a perfect home and insanely hilarious friends (whose books I can’t wait to read) and enough drama to make it interesting, this a perfect “quick-fix” if you want a good and solid romantic comedy.

If you're into overthetop ridiculousness that is trying to be funny but only manages it some of the time, you'll probably like MAN HANDS. This felt kind of like made for tv movie mashup of slapstick crossed with porn and featured on TLC. If you like home renovation shows, cooking shows, and all the dirty puns and innuendos that apply to both, you might like this. This writing duo isn't a winner for me though. I love Bowen, I have no idea who Eby is, but it this felt kinda like a cheap Blakely knockoff without the emotional arc. Again, might work for some, but not me. I didn't hate it but..

And yeah I'll probably read book two because it'll likely be short and whatever I have no shame.

I don't care that I've lost my mind, because I've found my vagina.
Call me crazy, but I REALLY loved this book! So much so, that I'm going to stretch the literary truth a bit and give it 5 STARS for its sheer reading enjoyability!

Poor Brynn has just finalized her divorce, and her two best friends, in their infinite wisdom, think she needs to get laid by someone who's not her type. They go to a party and Brynn meets her future head-on by throwing herself at Tom - literally. He catches her and the rest, they say, is . . . romance.

The first half of this story was sweet, silly, and so much fun. I can't tell you how many times I laughed out loud.
I try to analyze the peculiar warmth and throbbing in my vagina. Is it attraction or a urinary infection?
Brynn and her inner thoughts were a riot; she was pretty adorable.

Tom was a great guy; kind, generous, and up-front. He wasn't a man-whore or an asshole, but he was ALL man. I swear, he is the definition of most women's fantasy husband, all 6'3" of him with his Man Hands and substantial. . . equipment. ;) In fact, his dick gets his own lines in the book - all of them hilarious.

The second half of the story was where the real magic happened for me though. I absolutely loved the way these two authors set the story up for some major angst, but then resolved it so effortlessly with almost no drama in a way that . . . made me happy - just plain-old, big-smile-on-my-face happy.

If that's what you're looking for in a book, read this one!

Super, super fun contemporary romance that will make you laugh. These authors delivered on this one!

I'm a huge Sarina Bowen fan, but I've never read Tanya Eby before so I was curious to see how I would enjoy their collaboration. Verdict: A LOT.

I listend to Man Hands in audio format, and I think that the narrators just killed it. There is a reason why Luke Daniels is in Audible's narrator hall of fame. Erin Mallon also rocks it out- they just both really deliver.

Let me tell you, friends, if you ever had a fantasy about a younger Mike Rowe (and who hasn't), then this book is for you. I kept picturing him, all sweaty and manly and handy, and combined with the husky and full of humor voice of Luke Daniels, it just worked for me.

Man Hands is a contemporary romance that doesn't take itself too seriously. It was EXACTLY what I was craving. It is funny, friendship-forward, body positive, and low-drama, which is just what I need at this point in my life. Sure, it won't revolutionize the romance genre, but I enjoyed it a whole hell of a lot, and I can see myself spending MANY hours listening to the entire series in audio-format.

Recommended for all my friends who love audiobooks, and who are ready to take a break from the serious stuff. It is worth your time.

5 stars – Romantic Comedy/Contemporary Romance

Man Hands is such a cute, silly, sweet, fun, sexy, lighthearted, hilarious, feel-good romance. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a book that kept a big, fat, happy smile plastered on my face and made me giggle out loud. There’s one part towards the beginning that actually made me laugh so hard I snorted out my coffee. (And I didn’t even mind that I’d wasted good coffee and spewed it all over my favorite blanket, so that’s really saying something.)

Is it totally ridiculous and ‘that could only happen in romancelandia’ unrealistic? Yes, but it was highly entertaining and made me happy while reading, so who cares?

Some of my favorite funny parts/lines:

➳Hands down... one of the funniest books I have read in such a long time...

➳My love for rom coms is very minimal and when I first read the synopsis of this puppy, I was not that thrilled to read it. But I have slowly become obsessed with Sarina's writing so my investment in this book was a "YES!" After reading this beauty though... HELL YES! My god! I am not the biggest fan of rom-coms, especially cheesy ones like R.S. Grey's, but this one threw it out of the park in the aspect of hands down being beyond hysterical in every aspect. Whether its the hard core sex both characters have, or simply holding hands and having such an incredible attraction, this book has it all and it has it all in a way that makes you consume every single page, every turn, every orgasm, every funny thought Tom may have.

➳Helena Hunting has always been my go-to author in the rom-com department, especially after reading HOOKING UP & SHACKING UP. But Sarina Bowen and Tanya Eby have made me one of their fans for sure in this series. I cannot wait to start book two after finishing my monthly ARC's. But I am sooooo looking forward to the next read. I haven't read THAT synopsis but I can already assume who it will be... And how much fun they will have for sure!

Stripped to its core, ‘Man Hands’ is about a woman reeling from her divorce, then getting back on the saddle with a one-night stand by riding a jaded womaniser of a tv personality after a crazy evening when she bumps into her ex…thereafter does a Cinderella-disappearing act on him thereafter. And predictably, this celebrity—used to female attention—is intrigued because the sex is the most memorable he’s ever had. Then comes a sex tape scandal and the damage-control that eventually blows up in their faces.

If the plot is familiar, it’s the execution of it that isn’t. ‘Man Hands’ is a stark departure from the usual Sarina Bowen style that I’m used to, and it was a ride that left me wondering how zany things could get before I could see my feet back on terra firma. Frankly, it was all a little too mad for me as characters stepped out of reality straight into slap-stick land and did/said/thought things that no sane person would try, I think.

I do understand that rom-coms can be tricky: get the balance of the humour and the lovey-dovey bits just a tad wrong and it dumps us into cheesy territory or overdoses us with cavity-inducing sweetness. Overdo the serious stuff and the complaints come fast and furious that the story should have been better classified as angsty drama.

But when everything about ‘Man Hands’ got inflated, dramatic and exaggerated so that hyperbole became comedy, I found myself barely able see past the over-the-top silliness to the point where it was hard to connect with the characters, or at least, with their voices which I hard a hard time reconciling with 30-ish-year-old adults. Scrub out the wacky lines, the erections that come when the slightest wind blew and the hysterical inner monologues that filled the pages, and I couldn’t quite get the substance behind this particular style.

If Brynn barrelling into the first man she saw which led immediately to hot sex wasn’t batty enough, Tom simply came across as sleazy as he straddled the line between being a pining teenager and a man obsessed with his own dick despite having broken his short stint of celibacy.

The long and short of it is, I was just incredibly disappointed by this one, maybe because I wanted so badly to see what Bowen could do with romantic comedy and felt let down when nothing went right somehow. But if ‘Man Hands’ was one that back-fired spectacularly, judging from the glowing reviews, I daresay it’s probably a brand of humour that didn't resonate with me in any way.

★5 STARS★

Feel like hammering home one of your favourite readings of the year? Then do yourself a favour and get to grips with MAN HANDS. Bowen & Eby nail it with their engaging plot, lovable characters, and unbeatable comedic timing. I couldn’t get enough. Move over Fey & Poehler there’s a new double act in town!

Brynn is still reeling from the aftermath of her divorce. In her mid-thirties and in between jobs, her confidence is at an all-time low. Rallied her amazing besties, she’s gussied up and emotionally blackmailed into attending a party. Horrified by the presence of her ex-husband, she does what any self-respecting girl would do – which is to get off with another guy.

The guy in question is down to earth and good-with-his-hands, Tom. He’s quite literally bowled over by Brynn. She’s just the whirlwind of a distraction he needs. The trouble is as soon as she blows in, she’s gone again. With some time off between his next big project, he makes it his new mission to hunt her down.

Described by the authors as a “screwball comedy” it is exactly that. It’s over the top and hilarious and I giggled from the first page to the last, only stopping long enough to swoon. Fun and enjoyable, Man Hands is a refreshing and ground breaking start to a series that has renovated my take on romantic comedies.

Sarina Bowen and Tanya Eby are a match made in comedy heaven. It’s hard to believe that Man Hands is their first collaborative effort. Their writing styles are very complimentary, which leads to effortless, laugh out loud storytelling.

As a recent divorcée, Brynn has fallen into a life of insecurity and more than a touch of self-pity. Tom is the perfect catch—literally—and comes along at the just the right time to sweep her off her feet with his manly manliness and affection.

Brynn is a food blogger, and her foodie cravings left me perpetually hungry. Her quirkiness is completely adorable. Tom is a popular reality TV home renovator, so he really knows how to use his tools. And by tools I mean his hands. And his lips. And… well, you get the picture. Their love affair is amusing and sweetly sexy.

The storyline sometimes has a touch of cheese, as to be expected with slapstick comedy, but it’s all in good fun. Every chapter is packed full of such frivolity that I giggled throughout. I loved the hysterical internal monologues that occasionally slip out.

Brynn’s best girlfriends, Ash and Sadie, are the perfect sidekicks. Ash, in particular, is hilarious with her potty mouth and zany ideas. I’m looking forward to reading all about Ash’s romance with Braht (yes, that’s his real name), her arch nemesis, in Man Card!

Brynn, a newly divorcee, jobless, tries to find a staight path back to herself, to re-new her self-esteem, and what's the best way to do that then to listen to your best friends' advice:
"What you need is to be fucked."

and voila, the premise for a steamy read starts to pick up to right contures...LOL, then they drag her to a party where Brynn is once again challenged to ACT in a totally different manner then her own, so she does - she runs, and jumps the first random guy who looked strong enough to catch her. LOL (yeah, i did really laugh at that one, especially when the guy in question, re-phrased the same occurence), and then the hawt, steamy, supposed to be a one-night stand happens...or a relief sex, or well, forget-about-your-stupid-ex sex...whatever

the point is, it doesn't stop there, unfortunately, their sexcapade was filmed, posted on the internet and went viral, cause the guy in question is non the less but a reality TV star - Tom who refurnishes and remodels houses - he's a Mr. Fixit Quick

But can he fix this? What do you think, when his publicist suggests they make up the fake engagement *sigh*

and well, you know how that ends, in the end...*smirks*

Anyway, you might be surprised but this was, in fact, my first book I've read by Sarina Bowen *gasps* and as much as I usually like this kinda scenario, it felt plain, too sweet and well mellowly predictable with a little or less than little drama...so nothing new, apart from several funny moments, I can only say that it was an okay read for me.

OMG! I loved this book! It was downright HILARIOUS! In addition, it was charming, awkward, comical, romantic, and just DAMN GOOD! Sarina Bowen and Tanya Eby make one HELL of a pair! MAN HANDS is the start of a series that I know that I’m going to absolutely LOVE! Our two main characters, Brynn and Tom, along with the rest of the cast make up an amazing group of people that you will absolutely ADORE! I’m already excited for what these two will bring us next!

Brynn and Tom were amazingly awkward and oh so charming! I fell hard for these two right away. Our heroine is so freaking relatable it’s ridiculous! Her circumstances were just hilarious and I could see myself being FAST FRIENDS with her. And Tom, well, I just wanted to pounce on him and never let go! The swiftness that he took to our Brynn was so damn cute. Let me just tell you, that was one HELL of a first meeting between the two. Sparks fly off of the pages from the very second these two meet and it just skyrockets from there.

MAN HANDS is an adorable romance for all the men and ladies out there who have been told by their friends, “You have to get back out there.” “Open yourself up.” “Just have some fun.” If you are at a point in your life where you are stagnant, and you are afraid to open yourself up to love again…THIS is the book for you. It will lift your spirits and kick some HOPE into you. It will make you laugh. It will make you giddy. It will make you swoon. I had so much fun while reading Brynn and Tom’s story and I just know that YOU WILL TOO!

Brynn is newly divorced and in a bit of a depressed phase. Her husband wasn't sexually attracted to her anymore. She lost her job. She eats too much.
Enter her two besties Ash & Sadie. They think she desperately needs to have sex with a real manly man - not with some skinny vegan type like her ex.
That's where Tom comes in.

description

He's hanging around Braht's party not knowing how he will survive this one year of celibacy he promised himself after being dumped by his almost fiancée ... when the hottest woman he's ever seen literally comes running at him, jumps into his arms and starts kissing him.
WTF?
But he wouldn't be Tom if he wouldn't use that weird moment to live out the most erotic minutes of his life.
But then she's gone - but ... he finds her again - and now they could live happily ever after, right? Nope - there might be a tiny little scandal surrrounding those two now and they have to 'work' together to fix it ...
But of course the amazing attraction is still there - why not just keep having sexy times while trying to get their lives back on track... nobody is developing any feelings, right?!

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO BRYNN & TOM???
WILL THERE BE A HEA??
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT ☺

OMG that was hilarious!

Make sure you're not in a public place while reading this. There are lots of LOL moments and LOTS of non-mentionable body parts are mentioned - non stop. Those three girls are not shy when they talk about how to get Brynn back on the 'horse'.
I fell in love with those 3 in the first chapter and then we meet Tom and he's sooo adorable too.
This was an amazing book!
Hilarious and adorable and sweet and HOT and sexy and ... there's really nothing more I could say. You need to read it. It was the most amazing Romantic Comedy. And I SO need this to be on netflix or passionflix asap!

The only thing I didn't love-love was the cover. Those colors just don't work for me. I would've preferred a real person and not such a weird 'painting' thingy. BUT - who cares about the cover when the story inside is AMAZING!!

MAN HANDS was the most hilarious & adorable romance of 2017!
• Hilarious • Erotic • Adorable •
Run to your nearest amazon for your own Tom! This one is MINE (and that includes his hands and everything else)!!!! ☺

.... and now hurry book #2 - I need to read Braht's story!!!

FUNNNNEEEEEE!

SB is just an auto-read for me regardless of who she teams with but this Tanya Eby person has her own magic happening. The WAGs series is comedic but this has a bawdy silliness that I found refreshing. I laughed through an entire chapter and that hasn't happened to me in a long, looooonnnnnnnngggggg time.

Brynn is a great character. She's a little flighty, really honest, kind and has a tendency to accidentally verbalize her thoughts. Her ex wrecked her self-image by ignoring her, so she needs someone ANYONE to see her as a sexual being. Recently divorced, not supermodel thin, struggling to get her mojo back with two of the BEST GIRLFRIENDS! who refuse to let her wallow and who decide that she needs to stop falling for her "type": the pseudodude. They decide she need to go for "A MAN" which probably sounds sexist (and is) but CHEESE AND RICE!!! did it play out in the most delightful way.

Enter BFFs Ash and Sadie who make her go to a party so she can... jump back on the horse, so to speak. I don't think they meant it literally but no one can say Brynn can't follow direction! The story flips between their points of view so when she literally carped the gardener I was choking on my own spit but when it flipped to Tom and his first thought was:

And then I look into her green eyes and everything goes into slow motion. They're a beautiful color. Like Benjamin Moore's Clearspring Green.

I lost my shit. Like, I had to put it down because I couldn't see or breathe.

Not only did I find this hilariously unexpected it also turned out to be a really great way to succinctly convey exactly who Tom is and that stayed consistent throughout the story.

Tom (not merely a gardener) is one of those HGTV renovator dudes who's just come off a horrific and humiliating breakup that sent him spiraling into 9 mos of celibacy and meditation in Michigan at the advice of his BFF, Braht. Yes, Braht. Like a bratwurst.

So when he sees Brynn with her Clearspring Green eyes and huge rack charging him at the party, all systems are GOOOOOOOOOOOOO! They find themselves in the boathouse and banging ensues.

Completely subsumed by the sex fog that they missed the dicknozzle filming them...

*cue montage of their friends and random strangers making a version of the big eyes face while looking at their devices*

A little thing like a viral sex tape isn't enough to keep these two down, though! In an effort to right the ship they decide to follow the advice of Tom's publicist and fake an engagement. They carpe diem the bejeezus out of their "fake relationship" and in a twist that should surprise no one realize how perfect they are for each other. Crazy hot for each other, she can't get enough of his calloused man hands, bulging... everything and power tools and he can't get enough of her boobs and quirky underwear and unwrapping her from her ever-present wrap dress. I love it when couples can have fun while they're shilly shallying.

At times I thought Tom's dick being anthropomorphized was silly but I have to admit his exuberance for Brynn made me giggle. I really enjoyed how easy their relationship developed without dramatics. They both have backstories with depth and some pain but it just is what it is and neither dwell. Brynn is slightly insecure about her weight but in the face of Tom's (and his dick's) relentless appetite for her those body image issues didn't stand a chance. The added bonus of this book was all the cooking since Brynn is a food blogger who loves a good ball. Or something on a stick that pairs so well with a dip and... alright, I'll stop before I get voted off the island.

Great secondary characters. Great banging. Great writing chemistry. Great fun. Great start to a series. I'll be rolling right into the next one to see what Ash did with Braht's brat in that pantry besides rolling it in flour.

Enquiring minds wanna know.

Recommend to fans of fluff, comedic romance and low angst reads.
