lilium: celebratory prose for the Black trans woman

Rate this book
lilium is a small collection of prose poetry celebrating the life and beauty of the Black trans* women and femme.

written by a Black trans man utilizing the extended metaphor of the lily, lilium lyrically soothes, encourages, and uplifts the existence of the Black woman of trans* experience; which is an act that is scarce in this society.

the purpose of this ode is to place flowers where there are bruises, scars, hate, and, unfortunately, graves made far too early, by injustices and their perpetuators. daily, my heart aches for the women and femmes that have been murdered in cold blood because they are trans* women, sweet lily ladies. never are these murders respectfully focused, nor widely-organized for. trans* women/femmes- disproportionately poorer Black/Latinx trans* women/femmes- are being and have been genocided, and it must end.

respect the Black trans* woman/femme. love the Black trans* woman/femme. free the Black trans* woman/femme - as in, allow the Black trans* woman/femme to be free. help heal the Black trans* woman/femme.

i hope this work touches your soul.
