Still having a blast with this series. First arc gets into some cyber attacks. Someone from the internet is coming after Ms Marvel. They somehow know her address and her identity. Plus they know some personal secrets of her friends and has threatened to reveal them and her identity if Ms Marvel doesn’t do something for them. A new type of villain for this run and I was here for it. Next, we catch up with her friend Bruno, who due to certain events, is now living and going to school in Wakanda. We get a nice quick story with him and one of his friends out there that had a nice touch to it. Then we have some returning villains from the last book who are back trying to rig the Mayor election to be able to run all super heroes out of Jersey City. The stakes get raised as her brother gets taken into custody while at the same time, Ms Marvel discovers she actually knows one of the new villains helping them. Crazy stuff there. Then the final 2 issues brings back the new hero Kamala met while visiting family in Pakistan, Red Dagger. The two of them team up to stop a runaway train. We have our own Chris and Denzel Unstoppable movie but with Ms Marvel and Red Dagger. Pretty cool final bit. We get some new artists on this book but they bring their A game and the art continues to look good. Next up the final book, volume 5.

[Read as single issues]
The next 12ish issues of Ms. Marvel's second ongoing series are collected here as she faces off against returning foes and brand new threats.

There are a few one-and-dones in this volume which I'll tackle first. The Election Day one-shot feels a bit like a PSA comic, but it does play into the ongoing Ms. Marvel story so I'm willing to give it a pass for that reason. It's not heavy handed, which is what some PSA comics become, but this one's still readable in the grand context of the series. There's also an interlude issue showing us what Bruno has been up to in Wakanda since his injuries which is fun and introduces a great new supporting character. I also just noticed that the cover is an homage to the previous volume's #18 as well, which is nice and sad.

The longer storylines are Damage Per Second, which sets Kamala up against the threat of a sentient virus named Doc.X, which works nicely with the ongoing issues of identity and belonging that the series runs with very well, and it's fun to see Kamala faced with a villain she can't punch into submission. Then there's Mecca, which brings back Lockdown and Discord from the Civil War II arc in the previous hardcover. This one really puts the supporting cast under the magnifying glass (although not as much as the current arc that just finished but that'll be in volume 5), and hits Kamala right where it hurts.

Finally there's a two part story that brings back Red Dagger which is both sweet (because they're cute together) and clever (because of the ultimate resolution of the plot).

Series mainstay Takeshi Miyazawa shows up here for DPS, while Marco Failla, Francisco Gaston, and Diego Olortegui all take a few issues each along the way while colourist Ian Herring keeps everything consistent, and makes sure that this book continues to feel individual among the rest of the Marvel titles.

Ms. Marvel's series remains highly enjoyable, socially relevant without beating you over the head, and a masterclass in character work. G. Willow Wilson and friends should be so proud of what they're doing with this character.

Ms Marvel continues to impress thanks to G Willow Wilson's fun and sentimental writing. However, there were some dry moments for me in this particular volume.

With Civil War II out of the way Ms Marvel appears to be heading towards being a slightly more lonely figure in volume four. As far as the plot and character development goes, it works for the most part and some new dynamics appear.

The initial story-arcs felt a little bit weak to me. The villains seemed more whacky and cartoon-like, which some may appreciate, but it was maybe a step too beyond for myself.

The art is once again lively and fun here, this time with contributions from some awesome people such as Mirka Andolfo, but I'll confess I did feel like I missed the distinctive style of Adrian Alphona whos work had been so fitting in the previous volumes.

Overall, despite the minor gripes I still enjoyed this as much as I have the previous volumes. However, if I had to place them in order of enjoyment this one probably would be at the bottom of the pile. That said, G Willow Wilson's writing keeps this pretty consistent and on track.

As always, it is very colorful and fun to read about Ms Marvel and her adventures and mishaps. I just wish that there would have been some more "this happened in the last books" because I had forgotten so much.

There were a lot of focus on social justice this time around. Stopping bullying, cyber bullying, racism, loneliness and those kind of stuff. I was not totally on board for these things as the answers were very easy and the problems were solved way too fast. Like when the virus were spreading and it started in WoW and it learned its bad manners from people playing so then everybody started being nice to each other online and then the virus was defeated. Like in one day it was defeated.
Same with the voting and when the Hydra dude would win because gerrymandering and few voter turnout. So then they knocked on doors for a day and a lot of people decided to vote and they solved that problem.

In the end of the book, Kamala states that these kind of problems are much more difficult than what she is used to fighting, because you might not use your super powers and sometimes people aren't happy about what you have done. But the problems have been solved so fast so it feels a little off that she would say that. Sure, it is not as simple and straightforward, but the answers to the problems have been fixed really fast.

I still love this show. Would have liked more of Bruno and more of this new guy, and more of Mike as well. There are so many sidekicks that are really fun to read about as well. I know this is a superhero comic, but I want more about everyone else as well. Maybe it could be its own book, just Kamala being with her friends. That would be nice.

Kamala's friend group is a bit fractured and she's questioning what it means to be superhero yet she still has to battle gerrymandering, voter suppression, social media, big data, online bullying, gaming, incels, more profiling, more internment, and Hydra which are all things I have a personal interest in; however, I feel how these issues are tackled falls flat and are a bit much at times. Unfortunately, this is the weakest volume of the entire run so far.

I haven't addressed it in previous reviews but these issues were written in 2016 and published just weeks after the election. It's very much a product of that time yet still remains incredibly relevant today.

The World of Warcraft inspired arc excited me since I'm admittedly a recovering MMORPG addict, but it really dragged on for too long and wasn't really focused in what it wanted to be. It seemed to try and take on too many valid topics like sexuality, outing people, data mining, and doxing in such a silly context that the end was kind of silly.

The next overly-long arc tries to examine how a seemingly good person can become a domestic terrorist and how some new, well-meaning organizations are arguably legally sanctioning oppression and cleansing. Again, these are things I'm interested in but the execution was a bit boring.

We get a single issue of Bruno's life in Wakanda where T'Challa makes a brief appearance and a couple of issues where The Red Dagger appears for runaway train team-up.

I'm sad to say I didn't enjoy this volume very much but there are still a lot of moments to enjoy throughout. Perhaps it's because Kamala herself feels drained and almost like a half-person that made me feel this way. Perhaps it's because she didn't handle the situations or her life in the best ways. Maybe the point is that she's trying to do her best and acknowledges by the end that she needs to rest and take care of herself first before she can be of any good to Jersey City.

So as much as I loved all the previous volumes, this one felt a bit different. I really liked it, and I enjoyed my way through this--hence the rating. It's just that this volume seemed, to me, stretched (Ha! I did that) onto a larger scale from the friendly neighborhood superhero. Of course, we saw that in Volume 2 with the end of the world, which is a h u g e thing but...I don't know. I can't point to it exactly.

I liked the fact that I was creeped out by the virus villain in this volume, which is a new feeling and I wasn't expecting to experience that in any of Ms. Marvel's volumes. I'm really looking forward to more of Red Dagger working with Ms. Marvel, despite how much I love her working solo. They make a fun duo. Also, BRUNO?!?! And Captain Marvel!!!! Gimme.

Saying that I'm nervous for the final volume is an understatement. It's not that I fear I'll be disappointed or anything--I believe in G. Willow Wilson--it's that these were over too soon. I'm not ready to let go of Kamala :')

I started this volume while reading the individual issues, unfortunately I didn't finish it until after the collected edition came out. So, I think that might have lowered my enjoyment of the overall story. Still, I don't think this one was as strong as others have been (). I still love the characters and am eagerly looking forward to the next volume.

ANOTHER great adventure for Ms. Marvel. This book continues to be a solid winner issue after issue, volume after volume.

The politics, while good (simply explaining gerrymandering and emphasizing the need for everyone to vote, nothing toward a particular party), were a little heavy handed at the beginning. Ms. Marvel continues to be one of my favorite stories m superheroes in comics.

Ms. Marvel vs. Voter Apathy! Ms. Marvel vs. Our Trolling Selves! Ms. Marvel vs. the Alt-Right!
Could've been preachy, but is really entertaining, with some genuine feels. I'm sad the next volume is the final one for Wilson...

More entertaining and quirky adventures with the great Ms. Marvel. While I love her, the storylines with her friends are my favorite part. Friends are also not the only thing expanded on, a new love interest in the horizon might just make things that much more interesting. I do feel the lack of a quality villain missing from the whole series, but the hero and her allies are so well developed and fleshed out that it is not that big of a deal. Lastly, the art is just phenomenal, you can really tell the quality and care put into these pages.
