To Catch a Con

Rate this book
For con man William Rex, the world was his oyster. The self-proclaimed gentleman thief lived the good life, turning his looks, charm, and quick wits into money via various schemes designed for separating it from its former owners.
Looking for the big score that will send Will into early retirement, he decides to rig the lottery.
While planning this final con, Will meets a beautiful woman who tells him only that she works for the government. The relationship seems doomed from the start as she is a relentless workaholic who has always put her career ahead of her personal life and Will is the smooth-talking ladies’ man who hasn’t seen a second date since High School.
The unthinkable happens when an ill-timed paperwork mistake by a Lottery agent leads to an investigation which finds evidence of the groups’ crime. In the midst of the ensuing investigation, Will realizes that a second unthinkable thing is happening; he is falling in love.
Even as her relationship with Will grows deeper, some of his actions begin to foster suspicion in this buttoned-down government employee.
At the same time, Will’s sketchy information on the investigation is gradually coming into focus. As each one discovers more details, events lead to a final showdown when the pair must find out who the other really is and where they each stand.

Kenny Boehm, an engineer by nature and career, had been an avid reader for many years prior to putting the pen to paper in his own right.
Since that time, he has written To Catch a Con; In the Nick of Time, a thriller with historical leanings titled where the unwary hero is thrust down a dark road of cloak-and-dagger action; and a Children’s Book, Don’t Turn Werewolf, about twin boys with supernatural abilities who do the right thing in the end.
He enjoys hanging out with his wife, watching his son run in Cross Country and Track meets, seeing his twins play basketball games, and playing disc golf.

I would like to thank Goodreads, Kindle and Mr. Boehm for the opportunity to read this novel.. This was a great read for a rainy/snowy evening and I did not expect the ending. If you are enamored with the gentleman thief you will enjoy this novel. Thanks to all for a thoroughly good read

Truly enjoyed this story. A little out of the ordinary. Interesting ending when there were no good outcomes in sight.

This is a contemporary adventure romance mainly suited for the 18-30 crowd.

Lonely FBI agent meets dashing con artist in this book about love, trust, and lots of money. Will and his group of friends are planning to rig the lottery. If all goes as planned, it will be the con of their lives, they would get off scott-free, and they would never have to work (or rob) again. And then Will meets Terry, the beautiful, intelligent FBI agent that he could see himself spending the rest of his life with. She is quickly falling for him, too.

One problem. He's a con artist, and she's an FBI agent. And neither of them know it.

This was a good, entertaining read with a decent plot and likable characters. The ending was a little bit corny and predictable, but I have yet to read a story of this kind that wasn't to some extent. I would give it four stars.

Warning: This book contains some mature material and may not be suitable for those under the age of 18.
