Bound & Controlled: The Complete Series Everyone approaches BDSM in their own way. Brothers Garrett, Brent, Grant, and Bryce are no different. While each are involved in the BDSM scene in some way, what they want varies. Dominants, submissives, and switches, get to know them as they find love and explore who they are and what they need.
The Owners: A Bound & Controlled Prequel Bound & Controlled is a gay BDSM club that offers its members a quiet place to meet and an intriguing place to play. Owners Ben and Conner watch over the club and its members with a firm hand and a caring heart. M/m BDSM Boxed Set
When they see members who are unhappy or troubled, they can’t resist stepping in and lending a helping hand.
Garrett There were only so many times in a week you should have to see someone you were…attracted to…infatuated with…but certainly didn’t have a crush on. Doms didn’t have those. Especially on a customer who probably wasn’t even gay, much less a sub. Business 101—do not flirt with a client.
Brent Brent’s legendary bad luck when it came to men was undeniable. If there was a wanna-be Dom in a hundred miles, he found them. But even he couldn’t have predicted what would happen next. Mixed signals and too much time off won’t make it any better, or will it?
Grant Grant had always loved more feminine men. A sexy guy in lingerie just did it for him. But when you looked more like a bouncer than an insurance agent, the pretty guys ran for the hills. Carter seemed different, though. When he looked at Grant, he saw the real man underneath the tattoos and muscles. Could Grant make him understand that he liked Carter just the way he was, or would Carter’s doubts
Bryce Bryce was confident when it came to work and his family, but hesitant when it involved relationships. He’d found subs that he pulled to him and Doms that could make his knees weak for a scene or two, but no one that tugged at his heart or who could understand what it was like to be both a Dom and a sub—until he’d seen Troy and Oliver—
163k+ Words Story Contains: M/m and M/M/M sexual content, BDSM elements, mild exhibitionism, spanking, gender-fluid dressing, and orgasm denial. The books are not taboo in nature.
Shaw Montgomery loves reading, traveling, and family. While not necessarily in that order, they all rank pretty close. Shaw has lived all over the United States and even Germany. While the coast of North Carolina is a favorite place Shaw currently lives in the Western United States. Current wish list places to travel to are Australia, Italy, and Scotland.
When Shaw wants to write about things that are a little more taboo (or sometimes a lot more taboo), Shaw writes under the name M.A.Innes.
STORIES #0 The Owners: If I had purchased this prequel on its own, I would not have purchased any additional installments. Fortunately, I had the entire box set and despite not loving the prequel, I decided to continue listening – I am so glad I did! In this brief introduction to the rest of the series we meet Dominant Connor (owner of BDSM clubs) and his overzealous, in my opinion annoying, sub Ben. Aside from getting a brief glance at these characters, this is pretty much just one BDSM sex scene and not a very descriptive or exciting one. In this story, we are also introduced to 4 brothers and their sidekick who often frequently BDSM club and who star in the remaining installments.
#1 Garrett: Garrett is an insurance agent and a Dom. Not wanting to risk a sexual harassment lawsuit, he doesn’t initially pursue his attraction for Wyatt, a customer who comes in 3 different times in one week. I really enjoyed the chemistry build up between the two main characters in this book.
#2 Brent: Brent isn’t your stereotypical submissive. To the contrary, people often assume he is a Doominant. Because of this, he has been struggling to find a partner. Developing more than platonic feelings for one another, Kailin (best friends with the brothers) and Brent begin acting strangely at work so Garrett forces them both to take vacation time. Their mutual forced vacation is the perfect opportunity for them to spend time together...
#3 Grant: Carter (who works with Wyatt) has a crush on Wyatt’s boyfriend’s brother Grant. Carter likes to dress in women’s clothing, undergarments and wear makeup though so he isn’t sure that strong, ultra masculine Grant will be into that. Oh boy is he! I enjoyed watching Carter overcome his fears; I wish there had been more of that and less sex.
#4 Bryce: Bryce, a Switch, is captivated Oliver and Troy, a couple he has observed at the BDSM club. Unbeknownst to Bryce, they have noticed him too, eventually resulting in polyamorous relationship. The majority of the story is ménage sex scenes and though they are hot, I would have prefer preferred more substance.
STORIES OVERALL: I found this whole family/friend dynamic very unlikely and unrealistic. I find it hard to believe that there could be a family containing 4 gay brothers, all of which are into BDSM. In addition to that, their mother is a dominant. Even more hard to believe is the fact that everyone knows this about one another. I have no idea what type of sex my parents or my sibling are into and I don’t want to! With so many different characters I thought I would be confused but Montgomery does a good job of keeping things clear. If you like books with a lot of hot mm BDSM scenes, you will love this collection of stories!!
PERFORMANCE I listened to the audiobook narrated by Kenneth Obi. Immediately I was concerned as it sounds like he wears a retainer or something is in his mouth. Fortunately, I was eventually able to ignore this and focus on the stories. Some of the voices Obi used to portray the characters were fantastic. For example, in book #1 he does a great job of portraying the character’s personalities through their voices (speaking with a very powerful, seductive voice for Garrett and with a timid voice for Wyatt). However, on some occasions, the voices he used were overdone, even comical-sounding. Overall, he does a decent job and though his acting skills could be improved upon, he is definitely not terrible at his job.
This is a great deal, considering that you can get these books on their own for full price, or get this one bundle that has all of them! There are 5 stories in this collection (well, a shorter prologue starter story and then the 4 main stories) one for each brother. These four brothers, Garrett, Brent, Grant, and Bryce, are all in the scene (as are their parents!) and work together as well. A couple are doms, one is a sub, and one is a switch. You get to learn all about these four through their stories.
Although you could get the stories on their own and just get one, I think these flow really well from one story into the next. They all work together, so you get to see them really interact together. Some of my favorite characters were Wyatt, Carter, and my favorites of the brothers is probably Grant.
I think that for people who are new to kink, this would be perfect. It's not too hardcore, and you get a nice mix of different forms of kink (lifestyle, scene-only, crossdressing kink, threesome, etc). There is romance, emotion, not too much angst or melodrama really, and happy endings.
For the most part I enjoyed the narrator. There were times where it was difficult to tell which person was talking, especially if it was all of the brothers together. Also sometimes the deeper voices seemed a bit too...forced? Not as natural sounding or something. But I loved his voice for Wyatt, he was a doll, and Oliver.
I received an audiobook in exchange for an honest review.
This isn’t technically a review. It’s more of a rant. I just have to put this out there. I’m not sure if I maybe missed this in etiquette class, but there is NO FRICKEN RULE that says a romantic relationship=automatic stupid pet name. I promise. their name is still a valid choice after the first date/scene/private parts party. Four books and in each one, they had to have a pet name. Each time it happened, it would toss me completely out of the story. These are grown assed men. I understand you don’t want to reuse the tried and true baby to pet (D/s sub), but it would be better to just USE THEIR NAME instead of subby, tiger, etc...
I know this is just my opinion. I know other people have no issue with this. Others have loved it, but the pet names really ruined this for me. I couldn’t concentrate on the story because I was too annoyed by names.
This is an absolutely perfect boxset....I read them all separate and enjoyed every one of them...In this boxset you get Ben and Connor's story who own the club and you get Garret, Brent, Grant and Bryce.....Bryce is my favourite as oh boy I love me a menage....If you love BDSM you will love this.....Shaw Montgomery at her best x
2.5* Okay, sometimes you shouldn't read books in a series one after another.
-1 (pre-book) A little short about the owners of the BDSM club with them looking at the 4 brothers who come in and Connor wanting to play matchmaker. It introduces you to the guys. I had read about Ben and Connor in other books but there isn't much about their relationship here. It's a set-up.
1. Garrett and Wyatt. Garrett is oblivious that insurance client Wyatt has a crush on him. Finally his family kind of force the issue and boom, off they go. Wyatt wants a full-time D/s relationship and Garrett is happy to oblige. Garrett was pretty dense for a Dom. If I can help it I NEVER go into my insurance agent. I prefer to do it all on-line or by email. This guy is in twice or three times a week? Grab a clue dude. I did like Wyatt and his rambly bouncy personality.
2. Brent and Calen. Calen's been friends with the brothers for years and one night at the club something triggers for him and sub Brent and then they spend weeks mooning around about it until they are forced (by oblivious Garrett) to take time off and get their heads together. Of course they then move into high gear.
3. Grant and Carter. Carter is Wyatt's best friend who owns an antiques store and likes to wear skirts and frilly underwear and has not had much luck finding guys who are into that. Grant loves guys in frilly girly clothes and can't seem to find a guy. When they meet at a family BBQ Grant is smitten but it takes Carter a while to trust that he can really be himself and Grant won't freak out about the underwear.
4. Bryce, Troy and Oliver. Bryce is a switch and is attracted to established couple Troy and Oliver. Of course he can't trust that they really want him in their lives and he can't seem to wrap his head around his double role and how that would work. Plus all the brothers run their father's insurance company and they promised they wouldn't let their lifestyle choices affect the office so he's afraid to have clients realize he's in a threesome.
Okay, when I said you shouldn't read them one after another, well, you start to see the repetition. I get that often that's why we as readers like a series. We know what we are getting and it's comforting and rewarding. But if I see the phrase "you're driving me nuts" "will make me nuts" "are making me nuts" one more time from 9 different men.... Also I always wonder about Doms who never seem to be anxious for sex and are able to hold in their desire for hours while the subs are just insane begging for it. Is that a BDSM thing? I don't know. I'm not in the lifestyle but they NEVER seem to be unable to control themselves while subs are unable to. Eh. Again, repetition.
I normally love m/m/m but by the time I got the last story, I skimmed 80% to get to the actual plot. And because all four stories kind of take place simultaneously, there is a fair bit of repetition of things you've seen, just from another perspective.
I also know these stories are erotic and sex heavy but it was just boring after a while. I skipped more and more as I went along. I wanted to know about their relationship, their lives, not 3 chapters of sex for every one chapter of actual character development. The sex for all of them was pretty similar. Spanking, some bondage, some exhibitionism, lots of denial.
The little old ladies who pried into the love life of Carter and Wyatt were creepy. I know it was supposed to be humorous, but I've always found people who insinuate themselves in gay men's love lives as voyeurs off-putting, even in the guise of "we want you to be happy".
And holy hell, their mother was this over-arching looming figure. Their parents also had a dom/sub relationship (yeah, I don't want to know that much about my parents sex lives and I sure as hell have no intention of telling my mother about mine) and they kept saying she loved them but they were all terrified to introduce boyfriends to her. If she was really that great they'd WANT to. And she didn't believe you could live with a guy without collaring him and it had to be her way or the high way and at the end was pressuring Garrett and Wyatt to have a ceremony that she wanted. I found her way too controlling and I would be staying far away from that family. And 4 sons who are ALL gay? Not even one bisexual in the mix? Odds of that? LOL Okay, fantasy.
But maybe if you read one and then a few weeks/months later read the next, the repetition would have been good to help you get back in the groove and you would forget that the last book also had character constantly stating they were being driven nuts.
Yes, I kept reading the collection but it was more skimming to the end to see how they ended up. You'll probably either love these or like me be kind of eh but keep reading them anyway.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Note: This is my review of the audio boxed set so it includes what I think of the narration, as well as the content of the books.
Bound & Controlled: The Complete Series consists of four short books and one prequel short story. It will take you less than eighteen hours to listen through all of them, so you can easily be done with the boxed set in a weekend.
What all of the books have in common is the BDSM lifestyle, which is better than in most Eroticas that I've read. For example, the Doms keep questioning themselves about whether they are doing right by their subs and they do their best to take care of the subs.
However there were some inconsistencies, mainly in Brent, which was the one I disliked the most, partly because of the inconsistencies, partly because the narrator would mix up the voices in it. This was also the case with Bryce, where there were three main characters. Even so, this book and the short prequel were my favorites in the boxed set. Oliver's name might not have been the title, but he was the highlight in this book for me more than anything or anyone else in it.
Apart from the voice mix up, there were two other problems with the recording.
The first was when the recording stopped for a moment (it was either in The Owners or in Garrett). However! I've been having some problems with my computer lately, so in this case my own PC might've been at fault.
The second instance though was something so odd, I'm not sure how to describe it. The story stopped as the characters were speaking, there was a mumbled word or two that I couldn't understand, and then the story resumed as if nothing happened.
But let's get back to the story and characters.
There were no big conflicts, but there were a few misunderstandings or people being too shy or insecure to talk about their BDSM preferences, so you get some emotional tension, not just sexual. As for the R-rated parts: these are not the best sex scene I've read or listened to, but they weren't awkward and definitely were closer to "good" than "average" for me. There's a variety of kinks included, so it's likely you'll find yours in here.
I had a bit of a problem with how fast the characters started calling each other "mine", but the books aren't that long, so I guess the author had to speed things up. Another thing that might put you off is that there are too many epithets and repetitions (there are only so many times you can hear the phrase "the sexy sub"). However, there are also some cute scenes and a whole lot of food banter that takes away from the intensity of the sex scenes and gives you time to just chill along with the characters. I appreciated that because as much as I enjoy naughty content, I get bored when there's nothing else in the book.
Bound & Controlled is not something I'd recommend reading/listening to if you want a moving story, but it's something I'd suggest if you want to be turned on. A word of advice: don't listen to the books one right after the other because the repetitions are more obvious that way. I think I would've enjoyed them more if I'd gone for one book per weekend.
The Owners1 star This is completely unnecessary for introducing the brothers in this series. The owners don't even show up as secondary characters. They are mentioned but add nothing to the stories. This could have easily just been a generic introduction. The owners also seem to have a barest of influences with the couplings. No matchmaking was afoot. I wanted more romantic comedy vibes.
Garrett3 stars This is a strong start. I like how clueless Garrett is, going against type as a Dom. Wyatt is kinda forced to take the lead. I like their dynamic a lot since it's more a lifestyle power exchange. They balance each other perfectly and are the standard for all the other brothers to strive for.
Brent2 stars Brent is a sub who takes charge in every other aspect of his life. He fails to see that he's meant to be with Calen, a family friend that's a Dom with a preference that he keeps close to the chest. They finally get their heads outta their asses and give their attraction a real chance. I like Calen more than Brent. Calen coming to terms with his preference to bottom made this story more interesting than would have been without it.
Grant2 stars Carter's story has been built up since the first story. It held my interest but didn't deliver all the hype. Carter is a full thought out character but Grant reads very flat. I didn't like him much and found him boring.
Bryce3 stars I am so happy that all three men got POV chapters. This is a decent way to conclude the series. Troy was a boring Dom but Bryce is an dynamic character, with him being a switch. Him going back and forth from Dom to sub was hot to read in the sex scenes.
I enjoyed this serie, I found it really entertaining, and a huge part of what made me like it is how bdsm was pictured more as something fun and delighting, not something dark or mysterious. I was extremely surprised by that (especially with how the cover have the usual "dark and mysterious" vibe all bdsm books have.) The characters were all funny, tho sometimes I wished they were developped a bit more outside of their romantic interests/internal struggles with their relationships. It left me wanting to see more of the various friendships, and their family lives. In the same spirit, absolutely all endings took me by surprise. I'd reach the last page and be shocked: eh? That's it? But... I need so much more?! It felt a bit too rushed in this aspect: the characters reach an understanding, they have a nice, naughty time and BAM SHOW IS OVER EVERYBODY GO HOME I'm not sure I'd be up to re-reading this series, but I'd definitely recommend it to someone who wishes to read something with gay bdsm.
This small collection of short stories is pretty fun. You're given a decent build to the character depth since they all appear in all the stories, just not a whole lot of depth since the stories are so short. In my opinion, these stories would *not* work as individual short stories. As stand-alone stories, they are far too short and the endings are abrupt, though that does allow for seamless transition to the next in line. I'm unclear why the set is named after a club they barely have any connection to - the association as presented is more incidental than relevant to any of the short stories, including the "prequel" from the perspective of the club owners. As a whole, it's not a bad story sequence, though it could use some serious development to make it really good.
This is a wonderful series of stories. It features four brothers who are all into the BDSM lifestyle in different ways. Even their parents were in the lifestyle and the whole family is open about their desires. They also all seem to be involved in each others life which could be annoying but seems to work for them. As we move through the stories we see relationships build throughout all the stories. Through the stories there is always the "threat" of mom which adds a bit of fun. It was great to see these men find exactly what they need. I listened to the audio version which was well done especially as there are so many characters that recur through the series.
Great value here - you get all 4 books bundled together for one Audible credit. Each book focuses on one of the brothers, but the whole crew interacts throughout the series. The guys inherit an insurance brokerage from their deceased father and the plot is focused on their BDSM lifestyles & relationships as they go about their daily routines. Great plot with lots of twists and turns along with excellent character development. The guy's Mom has been touring Europe all summer and she comes home at the end and really blends all the plotlines into focus for an interesting HEA. Great narration by Kenneth Obi!
5 books centering around a group of brothers who are all involved in some form of BDSM. The actual BDSM is pretty light on the kink scale, nothing dark ... more B & D really. They were however a nice light read, the stories packaged together were I'd imagine more enjoyable than reading separately because they're clearly meant to be read together and in sequence. They were a short read but I'd be interested I'd be jnterested in reading more from this author as I liked the happy light romance with a touch of spice.
These stories are amazing. Shaw Montgomery has done a great with the stories for all the brothers. If you haven't read them yet, get them now you won't be able to put it down .
I would recommend this book to every one. Please if you haven't read these books get them now you won't be disappointed.
Not the subject matter I would normally chose but it opened my mind to more choices and an interesting story line. The writer takes you on an amazing love story of several brothers and a family excepting of others . Well done so read it and at the audio for it too, the voices are worth it.
These are the stories that made me a fan. These brothers support and love each other. Their dynamic is awesome even before they get their HEA’s. Working and clubbing together then as each found their loves made it even more beautiful. I can’t pick a favorite but I can say read them then listen to the audiobooks. Makes them even better.
This is a great series. I loved all of the stories of this book of brothers who each find their loves with different levels of power exchange. Shaw Montgomery writes incredible characters that I want to read about forever. Actually I would have loved if the stories of each brother were a little longer..
This was a fantastic read! All the brothers in this family were into so form of BDSM. Not surprising their mother was a Dom and their father her sub. Each of the sons journey to happiness was at times sweet, sad, sexy and hot hot hot. Then there was the character of Mrs. Jenkins she deserves a book of her own. Too funny.
I have read many books by this author and I think this may be my favorite series. I enjoyed each brother’s story and wish that there was a follow up series as I would love to see how their lives continue as they navigate life and love.
These books were beautiful and heart warming. They were funny and awe inspiring. I have never read a series like it, but I fell in love with all of the characters. I would highly recommend this series to everyone .
Although I’ve read these individually when they were released I couldn’t resist the complete box set including the prequel, Shaws take on BDSM is always on the sweet side but with a huge helping of naughty
Such a great set of books, was happy to re-read them again all at once. I really like the beginning from Ben and Connors point of view and then the end with the boys' mom point of view. Those two views were a great bookend to each of the stories and how they go together.
What a wonderful series!!!!!! I loved everything about it!!!! I loved the family aspect of it. The closeness of the brothers!!! I look forward to reading more from this author!!!
The relationships in this book are absolutely breathtaking. Seeing these brothers grow and evolve, as they discover what they truly want, is just wonderful. Loved it.
