While I didn't agree with everything the author wrote, it is still a good resource. The author walks through 25 lessons she has created. These are great jumping off places for your own style. The book includes some fun demos, and the author provides further printable resources on her website.

What God Is Doing, Old Testament Object Lessons for Kids by Anne Marie Gosnell.

Build family relationships as you discuss biblical history and truths with your kids. Teach your children the Old Testament by using critical thinking questions and hands-on lessons. I love the kinesthetic approach that is presented to help children grasp abstract concepts. The object lessons use easy to find items, easy to complete, as well as a great visual for children. This book is a great resource for anyone (from the homeschool parent to workers in Kid Ministry) who teaches Bible to children.

One of my favorite lessons from this book is about the tower of Babel with the language cards. My children like to ask me to Google how to say different phrases in other languages. This lesson helps children to understand the importance of why we should learn other languages so that we can share the Gospel with others from around the world. I can't wait to share more of the lessons from this book with my children.

Note: I received a free copy of the PDF of this book from the author in return for my honest opinion.

I found What God is Doing: Old Testament Object Lessons for Kids to be a valuable resource that I didn't know I needed. There are 25 lessons featuring key stories from the Old Testament for ages 5 to 12. Each lesson should take about 20-30 minutes (which I found to be true). The few lessons we completed during our review period helped engage our children in a number of ways. They enjoyed the specific information I shared from the lessons in the book itself, the activity that accompanied the lesson, as well as bringing into the lesson other information that they had learned from Bible readings or Sunday School. Everything connected and came together for them.

Anne Marie Gosnell in the book provides us with many resources in addition to the 25 lessons as well as links to her website where we can find more information and resources. She even has videos demonstrating some of the object lessons! There is such much support for parents, homeschoolers, teachers, and Sunday School leaders.

I recommend What God is Doing for those parents who want to teach the lessons in their own home or those who wish to become more effective teachers of children in their church.
