The Locksmith issue 3

Rate this book
NOIR meets FANTASY and SCI-FI in the 3rd installment of this 5 issue graphic novel A cop guards a gateway to the beginning and end of the universe. Our intrepid detective, Mick Fagan, returns for the third issue in this five-part THE Cry Me a River of Blood. It’s 46 more pages of Neo-Noir mystery, fantasy and science fiction. Bodies continue to pile up in this segment as Detective Fagan now understands that death is nothing more than a subway token with unlimited transfers between the past, present and future… As such, trouble’s brewing back in 17th century Italy and he’s going to have to hop aboard the express. But nothing is certain as Lucero returns in the form of a meteorite, hell-bent on earth’s destruction. ===================== Part sci-fi, part pulp noir, The Locksmith bristles with gritty drama [and] moves with a steady, solid, and sometimes disturbing momentum. At times feeling like a well-turned X-Files episode, the first issue lays out a number of delicious mysteries, while simultaneously managing to raise the stakes with every new development. While noir is traditionally a genre of darkness, Grace manages to drag the dread out into the sunlight, and with the aid of Silvio DB’s deft artwork, still manages to make the open city in daytime have an oppressive weight to it. Even daylight manages to exact a toll on the inhabitants of this tale. FOUR Portentous Portals of Doom out of FIVE [Fanbase Press] Book
